Mick Fleetwood's drumming always seems to go under the radar when people talk about the genius of the band's music. He's a phenomenal drummer, and they would never have been the brilliant band they were without him.
my cousin told me she saw them live and said Mick Fleetwood's solo put a lot of people in a trance, including her.
He does a lot of things that seem "wrong" on the surface, but it just works, and it works really well!
Sorry to disagree but he's not that great. He's a very good time-keeper, and he injects a fill here-and-there, but he's bland.
@@johnshannon9656 I don't get what you mean by 'bland'. They were a great rock band who worked on a solid rythmical format, not a jazz band where the drummer has the freedom to expand and experiment. Can you explain what 'bland' means?
@@johnshannon9656 Bland. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣your funi John
Yes, spread the word to the younger generations about the great music of this era. This is another great song off this album. It's not surprising that you knew this one, it was very popular song.
National Car Rental used this in commercials as part of an advertising campaign based on the title.
Ya, I love how the younger generation is enjoying Grandma's music.😊
@@corawheeler9355 And Grandpa's !
Said it once and I will say it again. The 70s was the greatest decade of music. Or at the very least my favorite
There is generally a trend with what are regarded as ‘Classic Albums’, and that is that there is almost never a ‘bad’ song on those albums. They are nearly all memorable songs played decades later and enjoyed today just as much as they were back in the day when they were first released.
Who 'woulda thunk it' back then! It was just what we bought and listened to, or tuned into on the radio. Never in a million years could we have imagined 46 years on that young people, of the age we were then, would be captivated by the sounds we took for granted. Greatness always withstands the test of time.
So many amazing tracks on the 'Rumours' album of 1977 and the great thing about it is, they're all still so relevant today. One of the greatest rock albums of all time for me. RIP Christine McVie. God bless.
It's not unusual that you would have heard a lot of Fleetwood Mac music before, and particularly from this album. So much of their music has become part of the American culture... in Movies, TV, commercials, marching bands (Tusk), political campaigns, tic-toc, you name it. They define the word "classic".
Yes Silas, keep great music alive! The thing about these reaction channels is it gives us old farts a chance to pass the torch to the younger generations. I am very pleased to hear that you're sharing this great music with others. Thanks Silas!
GYOW has been used in countless commercials and TV shows. The most significant films it was in are Forrest Gump (1994) and Casino (1995). It was also in the game Guitar Hero World Tour. It's the only Fleetwood Mac song in The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's - 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. I think it's their best song though there's a lot of competition.
Do u know of anything else it’s been in? I keep feeling that I’ve heard it in movies and stuff and I’ve seen Forrest Gump and casino and they’re just not it. I’m dying to know
@@Paulywolly_111 It's also in Clerks and a cover version by Lisse in Nicholas Sparks movie. As for ads - everything from car commercials to portable oxygen.
100% solid banger! Just listen to the bass in the chorus almost doing its own melody. A perfect confluence of the 12 string in the background, the drums, Lindsey's licks during the verses, the words that deliver a "get the **** out of my life" message, and of course the guitar in the outro.
The bass is just ❤❤❤ I'm a beginner bass player (at age 45 😂), I'm 2 months into learning and the first time I cracked this bass line I couldn't stop grinning! I still mess it up, obviously, but it's one of my favourite songs to play, along with the rest of this album. John McVie is my go-to when I want to learn something new.
I love seeing classic rock gain new young listeners. This album is 46 years old. A lot of classic rock is over 50 years old. Keep it going. Never let it die.
It's been used in commercials, so that's where you likely heard it. This album is one of the must-haves from the 70's (as well as all-time)
The best break-up song in rock history!
Apart from Idiot Wind perhaps.
Yeah, it's a fantastic sing-along song. I love how the drumming is so staggered and uneven during the verses and it gives us this off-kilter rolling feeling, and then when it hits the chorus, it just starts doing a straight driving beat and then it kicks so hard. And there's something so joyous about singing along with the chorus at the top of your lungs once you know it well.
The guitars in this are great and one of my favorite parts near the end is the guitar that was more on the right side of the mix, drops down into these low crunches and just starts crunching away and it's in contrast with the one on the left that keeps rocking out and goes up high and it's just so much fun.
I'm glad you are sharing this music with your friends. And in a way, that's what I did for so many years when I was playing in a rockabilly and honky tonk band. I got to know the older music well before my generation inside and out and I knew the really cool ones that weren't mainstream and even the mainstream ones weren't very well-known if at all to a lot of people I knew.
And so we would learn these and play these songs live in front of audiences and slowly people would start to look up the songs on their own to find out more. And they would tell me stories afterwards. One time we played this old trucking song from the 1960s (I absolutely love trucking music in every way) and it was at this club in Kansas City and when we were taking a break, this old man's daughter came up and called me back to his table in the rear as I was working my way through the dance floor audience, and he looked at me with a tear in his eye, and he said "I never thought I would ever ever ever hear this live again. The last time I ever heard it was when I was still driving my truck." Wow. It's the stuff like that that makes it all worth it.
Can’t wait until you get to “The Chain”, the best track imo.
This has been fun to watch you go thru one of the best albums of all time. Can't wait until you get to The Chain. Keep it up and hope all is well!
I was working security in the pit in front of the stage at Chrisler Arena (now Center) for the Tusk tour. What an incredibly tight group. Christine McVie was talking to us between some of the songs. This entire album has permeated our society between radio, movies and commercials. Yes, it is a phat album.
So Stevie Nicks wrote Dreams about breaking up with Lindsey Buckingham during the making of this album and Lindsey wrote Go Your Own Way about breaking up with Stevie! So much drama and heartache went in to making this album and these songs and that rock and roll soap opera is what resonated with people. Also, the amazing music!
Whole Album is a banger!!!
Yes, I agree the younger generation is missing out on the depth of great music from this era and its a great mission for Silas to expose as many to this golden age of music.
I think this will be your fav off the album
2nd, 3rd, 10th time listening and you'll get a better feel of which song(s) you like most. On an album full of very big hits, it's a good problem to have 😊
You've heard it everywhere!! Grocery stores, elevators, malls, etc.🎶🎼🎵🎸🎹🥁🎤🎙🎧🤘🤘🤘
This the second best song on the album IMO. It might have a positive vibe, but he was spitting poison at his former lover - Stevie Nicks. For example, "Packing up, shacking up is all you wanna do!" So, the chorus, "You can go your own way" = 'You can f*** off!!!" 🤬 You can sense the aggressive solo.
watching you be introduced to my favorite band of all time is like being introduced to them again for the first time. Awesome
This is all centred around the on/off relationship with Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks which was explosive and resulted in some of their songs being written.
Hard to be a human being in the developed world and not have heard this. Iconic!
You are a great guy, i just stumbled across you and i am impressed all to heck with how music savvy you are! I would be proud to call you family! I am subscribing, i have hope!
Priceless how you are getting more and more overwhelmed and intoxicated with this evergreen masterpiece, young man! 🤗
I like this one more than Dreams too! Has a great driving rhythm. My faves on the other side are "The Chain" (obv.) and "Gold Dust Woman".
This song was released as a single ahead of the album release and is credited for much of the albums success when it was released. Apparently Stevie was very hurt and angry about the “packin up and shackin up” line and fought with Lindsey to change it and he refused. I guess in the end Stevie won the battle of the breakup songs since her Dreams was the only #1 single the band had. Really enjoy your vids Silas, great to see your reactions so closely mirror my own when the music was first released.
Not sure which I'm enjoying more.....the music or your reaction to it! I'm 75 years old and THIS is the music I grew up loving....real instruments, real voices, real music, not canned stuff. Thanks and keep enjoying!
When they kicked Lindsey Buckingham out of the band a couple years ago, they needed 2 guitarists to cover his parts,he's such a good guitarist and singer
And they still couldn't do it!
You're absolutely right. This album is stacked!
One of their best songs among many.
This man is enjoying his music. Ya love to see it.
I'm 48. One of my earliest memories: 1977 or 1978. I'm a child and lying in the back seat of the car with my aunt (or mom) driving down to Wildwood, NJ for the summer. This is playing on the radio. My mother and her siblings (now in their seventies) were still in their twenties. These were amazing times! Good times.
"In 2017, it (Rumors) was selected for preservation in the National Recording Registry, being deemed culturally, historically, or aesthethically significant by the Library of Congress. -Wiki
that reaction may just have been the cutest thing i've seen in days! Brought a smile to my face!
My favorite Fleetwood Mac song. Lindsey is amazing at conveying his emotions through music.
It’s the all of the suspended chords. Sings sus4 against sus2 to Fmaj on the 12 string! Hooks you right at the opening. Creates so much dissonance and resolves it. It’s brilliant.
Silas, your a trip to watch!!! 😂
Your energy is encouraging!! Rockin out myself!!!
Love this song.
Forrest Gump, when he runs across USA.
Lovin your Spring fever too.
"This album is stacked!" Truer words were never spoken.
I always noticed his drumming…it just drives this song (and so many others)! Awesome! ❤️✌🏻✌🏻❤️
This is an FM radio staple. You've no doubt heard it lots of places.
Love your honest reaction to the best decade for musical talent ever, enjoy and rock on.
I love the bass guitar in the chorus. Great reaction
For all those who love longer live guitar solos:
FM The Dance 1997 around 6' - great pop version with great lead vocal and harmones; good video quality
FM LA 1982 around 6’ Lindsey Buckingham video - similar pop version
FM PBS Boston 2004 around 7‘ - Lindsey in audience, plays himself into trance, devilish ending, reminiscent of Pete T.;
Or enter: Lindsey Buckingham - awesome guitar solos.
Don’t Stop is a favorite of mine. Unfortunately, Christine's songs are often not enriched live with solos; specifically is The Dance version 1997 with Uni South CA Marching Band.✌
You learn something new everyday
DUDE! This is THE song that represents FM, (IMO). I'm probably about three and a half times your age and I gotta say it's really enjoyable seeing "kids" discovering the music I grew up with.
This music was used in the movies, 'Casino' 1995 & Forrest Gump, 1994.
Great song - glad you picked the studio version and not the live - and gotta love those cardboard tomtoms!
It was used in the movie Casino for sure!
you know it because it's iconic and is played all the time.
My favorite song of theirs. Odd song structure - makes it unique
One of "The best all time albums ever!!!! 1977
LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! one of the greatest albums ever!
You knew this dude was just gonna freak on the 2nd solo, the way he was into the 1st solo. Didn't disappoint! How many reactors have shown you the bottom of their chair?!
Love the appreciation and enthusiasm!
Mick Fleetwood's' greatest contribution was as the music arranger. Lindsey, Stevie & Christine virtually wrote all the tunes, but Mick moved many of them from folk songs into head-bangers! Over time Lindsey adapted a similar style. He was the glue that held them all together as one of the best bands in history.
This song was on the movie Forrest Gump, but it has shown up in a number of odd places over the last 40 plus years.
The Rumours album was basically a soap opera between the members. This was Lindsay Buckingham's song to Stevie Nicks about their break up.
Great reaction Silas.
This was a breakup song. Lindsay Buckingham is singing this to Stevie Nicks. "Shacking up is all you want to do". Dreams is her rebuttal.
Banger! Great reaction 🎶🎸🔥
Car Commercials is where you heard this song.
Another good one!! 🔥
I'm so glad you're spreading the news about the music of the 20th Century to your fellow Gen-Z'ers!
Several of these songs are used in commercials including this one for TMobile.
Awesome to see you enjoy my summer youth of music
Love the joy
"Casino" is one of the movies you could've heard the chorus.
I’ve always loved this song! I forgot that it was Fleetwood Mac.
always loved that pick slide at and whatever he says vocally @ 05:15
I'm really enjoying your reactions. One of my all time favorite bands is Van Halen. Their catalog is a great one to do song by song reactions to, also. Starting with the Van Halen album.
Go Forrest Go!
rumours wasa huge album in mid 70s, was everywere, had bout 5 singles lifted of it, soundtrack of my childhood n teens, great ur discovering it, u got quite a few songs 2 go frm fm.
Check out "Tusk" live by them. Featuring the USC Trojan Marching Band. Played by marching bands in parades and college football games all over the country since its release 44 yrs ago! Iconic.

Isn't it just a fabulous song.
its the #1 song on one of the best selling albums in history...I imagine that you have heard it before
This entire album is phenomenal, not a bad song on it...ahh just love it! Great reaction!
Movie casino when Pesci and De Niro were talking in the Cadillac
Watch the 1997 Live version
It’s one of the best live performances ever
😎😉
Here it is

Song chorus is used on commercials.
You know this song, just from LIFE..
that was a graight reaction .well done
Greatly recognized for the cross-country running sequence of Forrest Gump
bailey is very exiting , i know im a long tine fan of fleetwood mac since 70s, i see you very exiting and ill very happy to you son , love you
probably heard it if you watched "forrest gump"
the next one is really slow but a beautiful song by the late Christine MC vie. She woke up from a dream and wrote it in her head.
Then stayed awake all night playing it in her head because she was worried she'd forget it.
Mick Fleetwood wants to make sure you can hear him...
For me, one of the best guitar solos around, sadly only too short. In lots of your reactions you say the songs are too short and I agree. Back then, a band recorded an album of songs but often the record company decided which tracks would be released as "singles" which meant radio play. Radio stations tended to prefer singles of around 3 minutes. Queen had a huge struggle to get Bohemian Rhapsody,at over 7 minutes, released. Thankfully a BBC disc jockey (as they were called then) kept playing it, and the rest is .....
My favourite song off the album even though it cost me a few quid after losing a bet that it would get to number 1 in the UK singles charts. Loved it from the moment I heard it.
Rumours is what happens when you write songs about your breakup, while still in a band with your ex.
If you ever want to check out some Stevie Nicks solo stuff, her first solo album Bella Donna is really good. My favorites on that are Think About It and After The Glitter Fades. Also, before they joined Fleetwood Mac, Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks did an album called Buckingham-Nicks. There is a song on there called Frozen Love that is definitely worth checking out.
I have to believe you have those headphone turned ALL the way up!
Yes this is one of the best albums in history. Most of the songs are break up songs. This one is Lindsey Buckingham telling Stevie Nics to go her own way.
This was in Forrest Gump !
I love so much this song. ¡Vas a destrozar la silla! jajajaja
Can I give you 10 thumbs up! Great reaction!
Silas, have you added to your playlist any music from the 60s or 70s? Which ones?
You should definitely pursue a career in music. You can really get into what they are laying down. That is the whole point...to feel the music as passionately as you do is welcoming. I was 17 when this came out. Nice!
That's why you've heard the chorus. Say "Fleetwood Mac" and people hear this song.
