Being a tryhard in BF1 is easy.
1.) Do only one thing and never experience anything else the game has to offer.
2.) Use ONE weapon. Just one, as to not experience any different styles of gameplay.
3.) Be a twat in chat. Taunt people for dying to you, call them noobs and overall be a narcissistic fuckwit.
4.) Exploit balancing problems. Keep up to date on what is overpowered so you can exploit it and use as little actual skill as possible. Remember, as long as you get a higher KD than the person calling you out, that always makes them wrong.
5.) Realize how pathetic you've become and re-evaluate your life, preferably with a nature walk.
I believe the saddest part about that comment is that it's actually true.

Jack, I love you man...and your content BUUT I hate it when folks like yourself have these supreme machines that can run anything you throw at it, but turn most if not all visual settings to low. Your hardware can already run BF1 at ultra at 60FPS or better but you don't because you want more PRECIOUS FPS. Its kinda annoying. Why have all the High End hardware when you don"t even stress it??

I think for myself atleast, a nice balance between not to fast and not too slow is 1600 DPI with 10% in game. I used to play at 3200 DPI and 10% but i didnt feel precise enough. Since switching i've gotten really good

Hey Jack i figured out why sometimes when you decide to spawn on a vehicle(horse included) you will sometimes spawn with the tanker kit but the tank is nowhere to be found. It is due to someone or something being in the same spot as where the tank would have spawned in the map. Would you mind passing this info to DICE since they wont acknowledge my tweet to the fix haha

sensitivity? yes, dpi? notat all, each muse has an optimal dpi setting at which they 'll be more precise and/or constant, like for example on the perixx m300b for bf4 on a 1080p monitor(not sure baout other games and resolutions) the best results in minimal movements(which are really all that matters when talking about accuracy unlessyou use mouse accelleration... ew) are given by going for 1500-2000 dpi.

Exactly, like if i play Assault I can tear people a new A-hole but i played scout a lot today even though i sucked. I tried hard, but i also took chances, did a few stupid things i knew would get me killed because at the end of the day, its just a game. A better example though is deliberately turning all the graphics to low and music off / language to english. Yes it gives you an advantage but what you lose is immersion to the actual game.

Here I am, back again after finally picking up Battlefield 1 for real this time. Never got to experience Battlefield 1 for real (left right before the very first DLC). But....I have the most fun when I'm trying to win. It's not really "tryhard". Tryhard would mean that your DEFAULT mental state is that of a casual gamer, and you have to activly TRY hard to do well. For a person who's default state is trying to win (and not having to TRY to put himself in that mood) that doesn't make any sense.
I don't try HARD to win. I just naturally play well and focused.

just applied some of these settings and I'm now getting 40 kills per match instead of 20. Having my graphics on high made the game look pretty but really obscured the enemy in the foliage.

I just played battlfield 1 first game today and I played conquest got 20 kills and 18 deaths this is my first battlfield game ever I did play the beta and I think this game is brilliant crisp smooth gameplay beautiful graphics but I want to know how to check the leader board in battlfield people think I am a noob for this

Try 720 and 4 for a few days and yours will be faster than sanic himself.
I wouldn't recommend using a value like 720. You're better off with one of the more common ones like 400, 800, 1600, 1800 etc.

6400dpi here Asus rog spatha which can go to 7200 but I'm so used to 6400 from other mice.
How do you even play at 6400dpi? The cursor moves so much in response to so little movement! My Corsair M65 RGB does go up to 8200, but I've never used higher dpis except for very specific scenarios.
always played with low sensitivity in game, high dpi on the mouse, i usually have 7-10% ish sensitivity setting in game, and always found it worked far better for me than the other way around, guess its what ever works for you, low dpi and higher ingame sensitivity or high dpi and low ingame, personally i find high dpi low ingame tends to be more accurate for me atyleast, and if need be, i swap to the other preset of 3200 if im looking at a tiny sniping target.

Also, set the 'Show Stationary Weapons' from 'Heavy' to 'All' so the AA guns show on your minimap.
Very useful while learning where the AA guns are to counter the Zeppelin and those pesky planes!

Nick the more dpi, the higher the sens, so say he were using 3200dpi he would have to have an ingame sensitivity of 20/8= 2,5
depends on the mouse, some some work better with low dpi, others with higher, the ones i used worked better with high dpi, but dpi isn't directly tied to sensitivity, as you can make the sensitivity match in almost any game with different dpi via the settings files.

lol that's a crazy high sensitivity. That's why it doesn't work with a low dpi for you, since the mouse needs to read more exactly for the small movements you make. I need around 25cm for 180 degrees :)

Why should the soldiers speak "your" language? In my opinion, there are enough moments in the game, where you can change the circumstances to your advantages when both team speak different languages.
e.g. you are a german soldier hiding in a building somewhere and some teammate are outside. suddenly you hear a british soldier and instantly know, that an enemy is nearby.
The same scenario when your soldiers speaks your language (here english) and you just can't hear a difference and are not aware, that there is an enemy.
And if you argue that you don't know, what all the armies are talking about, I figured that out (I don't understand them direct, but I know what they are talking about) just after a couple of games.
I maybe have an advantage that I speak two out of the four languages in BF1 (german and english) but that shouldn't stop anyone.

Well, when a round starts, I try to remember which army I fight for. What also helps is, when you just look at the arms and hands of your player-soldier. Just recognize the uniform... and done.
British Empire: Brown
German Empire: Black with red and gold details
Austro-Hungarian Empire: same as the Germans (for some reasons)
Kingdom of Italy: Brown/Green
Ottoman Empire: White with red details
USA: Brown

2 years later today, there are so many more settings in the options..
Even if I follow your graphics settings at 1440p I would be getting close to 200fps with a 144hz monitor. Even with Gsync that results in massive screen tearing. Capping my fps at 144 or (monitor refresh) only seems to be an option if my generally getting below 144fps. If I'm constantly getting over 144fps and I cap the FPS at 144 or (monitor refresh) , there is a horizontal line that shows up in the middle of my screen that slightly distorts the image upon movement. It's the same line that shows up even if I don't cap my FPS. This happens to me with two different GPU's with two different displays. One has Gsync, one doesn't.
hey jack this actually helped me ALOT man. I often get negative K/D usually 5-10 kills and 20+ deaths a match. My biggest problem was poor vision and being hard to spot enemy players. I did everything in this video (I even also use a Razer Chroma) and I get kills way more often now! I just went 30 kills 6 deaths in a game!
I used to play with a high 1200 dpi and 40% and no wonder I couldn't hit anything. This 400 dpi and 20% feels way easier now to hit targets. I can also now see enemies more clearly now with those custom graphic settings!

You missed on a really good setting to tweak: Zoom Radius in HUD on basic gameplay. You can change how far your minimap will display the map around you. Keeping this in 100-200 range for infantry/vehicles gives good detail on the map and a far reach on its view. For planes 300+ is a good range to see other vehicles and spotted players around the map to line up bombs and whatnot.

Thanks Jack for the settings tips. The whole zooming and aiming feels jenky at first and I couldn't really pinpoint why. Now it feels better
lol my DPI is set to 1200 and my ingame sensitivity is set to 50% i dont know how you play on 400 DPI and 20% sens....
low an medium settings, have some artifacting issues, was watching linus tech tips on the gou test for BF4, thought some people would like to know.
It also helps to turn up plane, fortress gun, tank, and field gun sensitivity because it helps the slower moving ones move way faster for easier kills

Just muscle memory. Turn that 28% down to 10% and play like that for half an hour then go back to 28% you'll shit your pants at how fast it is.

Julian Grimoldi You should try lower sensitivity for a while. I used to play with similar settings to yours but once I switched to lower sensitivity I realized it really is better. The biggest advantage is that since you're moving your whole hand/arm, you'll develop muscle memory. With high sensitivity, your hand is making a series of delicate twitch movements which makes it very hard to develop an accurate muscle memory.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the 3 things that are more important than all the tips you gave: Play the objective, pick a class your team/squad needs, stick with your squad. That'll be how you win, not all this visual performance, sensitivity crap. I'd rather have a squad leader who died more than got kills but who actually helped out with proper classes and played the objective, than Mr. MLG running around in buildings ending with a 30-5 score with pinpoint aim and 150fps.

4. wait for sentry kit and then camp in a building
5. if you're using console then ABUSE THE AUTO-SNAP FEATURE.
DX11 only gives worse performance on Nvidia cards because they have poorly optimized cards and drivers for DX12. AMD gets a VERY BIG performance improvement with DX12.
Im fairly certain i saw somewhere currently DX 11 higher FPS for nvidia and DX 12 higher FPS for AMD on Frostbite. Example cards were GTX 1060 and R9 480. So if your running an AMD card def worth trying it out and monitoring FPS

Low? It looks worse on low. It's better to keep everything at medium atleast. AA can be off, shadows can be off but Complete low no way it looks worse than what bf4 looked on low.

I got everything maxt out with a strix gtx 1080 and get constand 120-144 fps on a 144Hz monitor.

this might sound lame and I don't play often but i've been trying to rank up the assault class to get the helriegel or whatever, and I just HATE the assault weapons. the shotguns, the submachine guns, I'm just terrible with them. they just don't suit my play style. I know its not because of overall skill because I can use something like the BAR or the self loading rifles effectively. Whats the easiest/fastest way to unlock assault level 10
Maybe I'm a pure noob, but regarding your mouse dpi, and the game's own sensitivity setting; if my Razer-whatever is 3500dpi, than should I also have a higher sensitivity input in BF1? I've just never looked at the mouse input vs. a game's sensitivity options before.

About DX12 if you got an AMD card try it out. (i got an nvidia card so ill stick with dx11 but dx12 works better on amd)
