One of the greatest thrills of being a landscape photographer is when the sky or conditions change into something amazing, and you know you only have minutes or seconds to capture it. What a thrill. Your enthusiasm really translates to the viewer, thanks for sharing Tom. Spectacular images!
You show others it is consistency and tenacity that gets the great images. No wonder you are highly recommended to watch. Your philosophy of really just showing you make the magic in your pictures in camera instead of heavy Lightroom work! It is a real enjoyment watching you grow as an image maker. Keep pushing, you are becoming a GREAT photographer!
That is a great comment to read and very kind of you to say. Thanks a lot for taking the time to write it!
One of the many reasons that I keep watching your videos is stuff like you putting 'reconstruction' on the parts you shot later. Stuff like that shows how much you care about the detail and the care you put into your videos. Another great few images for your collection too. Keep up the good work.
That's very kind, thanks a lot. It is all about the details. It's too easy for people to scream bloody murder these days "FAAAKE". Little things like 'Reconstruction' help prevent the odd comment.
Thomas, I don't know if you ever read the comments, but if you do. Your content is just "off the hook", I mean just totally sublime. I am thoroughly enchanted & mesmerized by it.
I love it when a person gets so animated about photography its why we do it. buying your e book now
What amazes me most is that you find time to film and even take out the drone when the sky is on fire. And stay calm too. 😀
Yeah, it's a bit of a juggling act sometimes, but has to be done.
If you want to be a Landscape Photographer, Thomas Heaton is one to follow!
The things I love about sunrise as opposed to sunset photography is that that the light seems clearer and you get the day ahead of you. Great image and very evocative. I am back down home to Cornwall this weekend for the New Year, hopefully I will get a shot or two down there!
I think I also prefer sunrises. It's always more peaceful and the light seems to have more clarity to it, like you said and it's great to have achieved something before breakfast!
You have my total respect for going to such lengths to get top class landscape photos. However, what really blows my mind is that you are also doing pieces to video and flying drones around to make a really first class bit of film. You are creating a little bit of magic here :)
Sometimes I think that if you do your videos is only to share the moment you love when the conditions are just perfect and unexpected. That excitement when everything is perfect, when you know the picture will be great, the fraction a second before pushing the button... that moment, I am sure you know what I am talking about. That moment is photography and photography is a lonely passion. Sharing it in videos can make it real for you, you can then share that feeling with 'people' who understand ... Just a thought though ... Good one Thomas. Thanks
Yes, that certainly is one of the great things about sharing these videos, unfortunately it doesn't happen often enough.
I absolutely agree the 2nd picture is so stunning, the colors are amazing
Thanks a lot!
Those are the skies that will knock you flat on your rear. I also end up laughing with giddy joy at scenes like that, they make you so proud to be a photographer, and so proud to make the early rise and shine sacrifice. I love the new end card, Ben really deserves some extra attention from all of us photo obsessed UA-cam addicts. 😁 You continue to be a stellar example to all of us! Thank you for another great video.
Hey Morgan, thanks a lot. You're right about those sunrises, they really do blow your mind and make every early morning worth it!
What's better than Absolutely Stunning? Absolutely Magic
Always looking for the rare moments of light that nature offers us. Well done Thomas. Kind Regards from México.
We are blessed with such an amazing coastline in the UK, nice one Thomas.
Thomas, thanks for your work, videos and pictures. I am always motivated by your videos to get my backside off, take my snow shoes, camera gear, tent and hiking in the mountains and find compositions for my time lapses or panorama shots. Thanks for your inspiration. Keep it up!
You knocked it out of the park on both of the images Thomas. I really like the quiet and calm beauty of the first, and the second is stunning with the killer sunrise. One thing that continues to impress me is the amount of work you put into the video production. I think many people probably realize it's a lot of work to juggle everything involved with these videos, but I don't think they fully realize the reality of how much work it really is. Going out there, waiting for the right moment, and taking a killer photo is a big enough task, but when you throw in the video recording, audio recording, drone footage, etc --- job well done my friend.
Hey, thanks a lot, Ben. I'm glad you liked the first image. I'm fairly happy with it, although bald patch in the sky bothers me. Photographing, filming, flying and sound recording is stressful, but it's all about priorities, as I am sure you're aware. Sound recording is the hardest thing for me, the amount of wasted memory as I forget to stop recording. Sometimes I continue recording audio for 15 minutes, which always makes for an interesting listen back later on.
Incredible how that tide came in so fast. Brilliant presence of mind to capture footage as ‘the ship was going down’. I know it’s not always easy to remember to grab the video camera as the drama is happening. Do you generally have big tidal changes round there? Getting back out there the next day shows great persistence Tom, an important trait of any landscape photographer. Your commitment was rewarded with an unbelievable sky that you captured beautifully mate. These sorts of warm, fiery skies are sometimes difficult to predict as they depend on so many factors,, like the right type of cloud coming over at the right time with the sun at just the right angle. One thing you can guarantee though is that if you don’t get out, you won’t capture much at all. Thanks for sharing your trip out to the coast Tom, it’s fantastic to see how someone else approaches capturing seascapes.
Hey, we don't usually get big tides up here. I think it was just where I was standing made things appear much worse. Persistence is the key to witnessing these kind of events and like you say, you won't see anything by staying in bed.
"Never be put off because you have a bad day - always return" Sticking that on my fridge.
I love your persistence. Really paid off. Beautiful image.
This video is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!!
The last image is incredible! The video story is superb also. Best, Bob
Thanks a lot, Bob.
Very nice Thomas... despite working with the coastline for many years, as a Jamaican I never get tired of sunrises... It's a magical moment you'll always want to see go on forever... Thanks for sharing yet another cool vid... Love the final images too.
I agree, you do want them to go on forever and it is such a shame that they disappear in seconds.
Hello, it’s 6/30/19 it was 5:05am when I was watching this video, this video really inspired me and gave me the urge to go to my roof and catch the sunrise, and well I don’t regret my decision, it is now 6:06am and I’m happy with the photos I was able to capture😊
Stunning photos. It really helps me as a beginner that you run through your camera settings and explain what you are trying to achieve. Thanks.
"Absolutely stunning!" Indeed! Love those early morning moments when nature seemingly comes together all for your composition. Well done.
Last week boiling hot and now the opposite ha ha, loved this vlog because its like your older vlogs where you venture in big open spaces if you know what I mean ; ). reconstruction was brilliant also tom ,makes me want to grab the camera and get out and go somewhere even for a walk.
You would have loved some of the colours and potential compositions we had the other month here in Minehead. I couldn't sleep, went for a walk at 0500, realised the sun was about to come up and I am not even joking, it was like being in a film with how vivid and fantastic the light changed and the oranges and blues of the sky merged into a magical spectrum of life.
Congratulations on an awesome shooting day! It's rare everything lines up like that! Very happy to see everything come together for you having seen the challenges you honestly document!
That last image is just insane! And I really like the commentary of how you shoot your landscape photos. Very interesting!
Thanks a lot, glad you liked it.
Been watching your videos for the last few days.. Loving them! I haven't shot sea scapes enough! Very challenging, From the waves crashing against your tripod, Big change in light from the water to the sky, Very challenging, But rewarding!
Oh and as for the tides... Yeah.. Gotta watch them alright! You'd be amazed what the ocean could do! Witnessed the Pacific's raw power a few times...
Thomas, just to say, always a pleasure viewing your videos, in any respect. Greetings from Germany. Jens
Beautiful sunrise! Thank you! Thomas...,
Another Fantastic video. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with the world.
If this is where I think it is (Newbiggin) then you deserve an award for making it look this good!
Omg, what an amazing sunrise
Absolutely STUNNING!!
I get super excited whenever one of your videos pop up in my subscriptions box
That's great to hear, thanks a lot.
Just turned on my PC to upload my images from a day trip to the Lakes to be told you have a new video out. As usual it is a great video with an excellent image at the end. I had been thinking of trying the coast in the next couple of days (out of my comfort zone) and your video has given me the inspiration to do so. Thank you and keep up the good work!
That is great to hear, I hope you have some success. If in doubt, go for some long exposures. Works a treat at the coast.
what a sunrise, and an incredible image too!
Thanks a lot!
Absolutely overwhelming shot. In my opinion one of your finest. Video is great as always.
That's very kind, thank you.
your videos are the best. I've learned a ridiculous amount! Thank you.
What a final photo...brilliant as always
Cheers, glad you enjoyed it.
That last image is absolutely fantastic! Perfection right there...
Your videos getting better and better everyday Mr. Thomas, and also good camera settings tips, really enjoy to watch it.
That's very kind, thanks a lot.
I had been travelling, and just got a chance to watch your last video (Lava), and then boom!
The new one. You're amazing and so are your videos! :)
That's very kind, thank you.
In my opinion that's probably your best image for a while which i've seen on yt! thumbs up
Thanks a lot.
Most of my workflow involves dri blending from bracketed exposures. Watching your tutorials on here and seeing your images on Flickr have very much inspired me to up my game and use my B+W polarizer and Lee filters combo, also my Heliopan 10 stopper and recently purchased super stopper for black and white conversions during bright daylight shoots. This has been a total game changer for me and I will be sure to purchase a copy of your ebook not only as a thank you but to gather more wonderful tips. Great stuff Thomas!!
Beautiful videos, I like them all. Keep it up Thomas!
Wow, stunning images. Great video, Thomas.
Thanks a lot!
Amazing video my friend. The passion that you have is just breathtaking. You truly inspire me to enjoy the nature more and to enjoy photographing it.
Just lovely photographs. And so true, just because one day turns to be a bust, return the next and you just might find something spectaular!
Yeah, totally. You gotta keep at it and return time and time again.
I love your video (while I am not a photographer !) and I love the piano music you use at the end of the video !
You truly inspire me. Love your work
Love the 2nd image...beautiful! Thanks for the vlog. I always enjoy them.
I really love your production and excitement, and as usual the pics are stunning.
Thomas, keep up the good work! Very inspirational.
SHIT!!! That final image was awesome. I was just waiting for you to jump up and down with happiness and laughter when you took that last photo. I know I would have been unable to contain myself. I might have even skipped through the video like a little school girl too. Great fun, I could feel the joy in this vid. Happy for you man.
So much excitement - love it!
Thanks a lot.
Well done. Love the image you captured

perfect Thomas!
That's very kind, thank you.
Last week boiling hot and now the opposite ha ha, loved this vlog because its like your older vlogs where you venture in big open spaces if you know what I mean ; ). reconstruction was brilliant also tom ,makes me want to grab the camera and get out and go somewhere even for a walk.
Great videos, such production quality, and you keep improving them, the drone shots is great, just don't become too reliant on them, I'm here for your great "story" telling and charisma. best of wishes from Sweden.
Thanks. I make sure I do not over use the drone. I shot a great video yesterday with no drone at all.
Wow that is just spectacular.
I was on the beach at Hornsea at the same time. Sky was awesome. Another great video and the drone footage really takes it to a different level. Cheers.
Thanks a lot and thanks for watching.
Congrats on blowing through 80k Subscribers, job well done. Great video as always.

Awesome work here, as usual. Such clear photos too. Looking forward to next time, with Cathedral Cavern ;) I went there a few months ago, it was a very impressive place to visit, but I should have brought more candles lol

Thanks, Paul. Glad you liked it!
Beautiful shots!
Dancing bearfoot ,BLACKBUD . . "LOST MY FRIENDS AND LOST MY MIND..." Loved the show and loved scenery this band came to mind now time for tea..... Crack on...Keith out
The sea can be deceiving like that, yep. Almost got cut off after sunset once as well. It's the main rule of being close to the sea - always, at all times, pay attention to what the sea is doing.
Envy anyone who lives close to the sea. For me, sea is just a very rare treat.
At the end of the video I was wondering about the focal lengths of your shots. And bingo, there they are. Thanks for your great videos, I learn a lot!
I'm a late starter beginner and this is inspiring. Great Photos enjoying your videos
Fantastic images, loved the video
Great stuff, its ace when mother nature plays ball..

Second image, WOW. Great video production too. Youre a very talented bloke.
