"everything you could ever want in a Mario Kart game" -- all you've done is add battle mode to a game that seemed to abstain from having one. To a game we already have and bought consoles for no less.
one more thing - even this battle mode just gets tedious and trite after a couple rounds.

just watch it have a Super assistant mode that works online ( like the one in NSMBW ) just have the AI drive for you ( if you can call that an AI )
Minene Uryuu922 I PC Masterrace I Actually, that's kind of already a thing. If you disconnect or leave an online race, an AI will take over (and you'll most likely still lose the race). You can see them in Spectator Mode labeled as "Player".
I like how it tells who hit you in battle mode now. Makes revenge easier 😈

I liked the Mario Kart Ds version where you had to blow into your mic to inflate the balloons, and hit people with items. Nintendo makes it harder now saying that the highest score wins.

That remake music of lugi mainsion theme brings back so many memories :,)
Lone Wanderer Even though it's the wrong music. They bring back GCN Luigi's Mansion, yet they use the music from DS Luigi's Mansion.
Game Hunter How is it the right music? It's the music from Mario Kart DS's Luigi's Mansion, but the course is Mario Kart Double Dash's Luigi's Mansion. And they had different music.
In Double Dash, Luigi's Mansion had the same music as Bowser's Castle. They took the same music, but gave them a Luigi's Mansion vibe.

This really looks like the best console this generation to play with friends honestly,and for the regular price we get actually 2 controllers due to the flexibility of the joy cons.
I love this. Nintendo really revamped the Battle Mode to make it much more enjoyable. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a fine example of Nintendo listening to their fans. I just wanna see Diddy return as a character, and I will be golden!
We can hope Diddy makes a return in Mario Kart 9.

Please for the love of god have Diddy Kong playable in this version of MK8, DK needs his nephew around with him he doesn't want to be lonely once more like on the Wii U where he was alone in almost every single game DK's been playable in except Tropical Freeze and Smash. WE THE FANS WANT DIDDY KONG MORE THAN ANY OTHER CHARACTERS WHETHER ITS A VET OR A NEWCOMER Diddy is the most wanted character for this game.

I don't intend on getting a Switch anytime in the near future, but they *need* to add new tracks later on. Because if all this "Deluxe" edition has to offer is new characters and battle mode, then that's a total rip-off. You're basically paying $60 for DLC.

Hey @Nintendo, Hope you have an option For a nice discount(like you normally do) for those who bought The original Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U. :)
Because, It's not Fair or Right for those who've bought it, Has to go out and Re-buy the same game again with a few changes.....

At the start, I expected to hear

Guys remember one big change is that you can play this anywhere with anyone on split screen with 720p. There is also some new battle mode stages that are remade from the regular one and the fresh Urchin Underpass. This version is totally worth it. Critics even gave it 9.25 out of 10.

I don't want a port but a new installment instead, I don't want to pay for the game again just for 2-3 new characters or some stages. It would be just as not good like MK 8 Deluxe.
That's a good point. Now that you've brought that up, I'd probably only buy MK8 Deluxe or Smash 4 Switch if they were $10-$20, considering the price of the Switch without any games, and the Pro Controller
It took 6 years to go from brawl to smash4 so don't expect a new game this year.The next one is probably coming in 2019 or 2020

Concerned a little about balance.... 2 items is HUGE for defensive play. It will be nearly impossible to catch up running leaders or people in the first 3 places.

Also, you could actually have a shell guarding you and not be vulnerable if it gets hit, as before Mario Kart 8, holding an item like a shell or banana meant using it, so you could pick another one up. This was removed in Mario Kart 8, where only when you let go of an item meant losing it.
