I own and use a Matrix regularly although I only have two attachments, regular drill and impact driver. Well it's a light duty tool set. I do think expecting it to drive a 1" spade bit was asking a bit much of it. The most concerning to me was the sander. Nothing to do with dust collection, I just don't think it looked very efficient. Light duty tools are just that - you wouldn't buy them for trade applications. You'll pay at least as much just for one trade quality tool of reasonable quality. I have a few light duty tools and like them because they are cheap, very light, charge quickly, and I work mostly with plastics and soft metals. I also own trade tools but the applications are different.
I had a contractor helping me on a project. We needed to demo some 2x8s that we weren't going to reuse. The contractor kind of laughed when I brought out an electric chainsaw. He quit laughing when I went through the first 2x8 like a hot knife through butter. When we got done, he said "I think I'm going to get one of those." I don't think that chainsaw attachment is on the same level as my electric chainsaw, but for an occasional use, maybe... Thanks for the demo and the laughs
An "Upscale" model of this with a bigger motor, better -made tools and gear select headers for jumpers on the tools would be absolutely fantastic. Bonus points if it can use the Ryobi batteries with the "Stem" on them, which _then_ enables the use of adapters for everything else so you can pick how it is powered, _including_ a direct-to-mains option with IEC 60320-compliant C21 connector (and C22 to C13 adapter).
This seems great for anyone that needs to complete a bunch of little tasks pretty quick. Cut a couple parts for a custom jig, then trim a small bush, wash the window and fix that flat bicycle tire...
I think it's pretty good if you don't have any of the tools. Because you can try a ton of tools without needing to spend a ton. After you figure out what tools you actually use, you can buy a nice set that you know you're gonna use the heck out of them.
Have to say out of your 6 duds I would have only given 3 of them duds. To me, that kit is an absolute godsend for someone who likes/wants/needs all of those tools but can't afford each one discreetly. Very much worth the money.
I had a B&D tool like that back in the 00s. Got it for Christmas. But it was just a drill, a sander, and a jigsaw. It honestly wasn't bad. I only ended up tossing it like 2 or 3 years ago and that was just because the batteries finally crapped out and I didn't feel like looking up new ones.
An awful lot of 00s tool hardware got slung out in those days as battery tech died...primarily because it was replaced by the only viable battery tech (so far) Lithium Ion. There is a local city market in my area in UK.. sometimes we see a stall holder rent a 'pitch' and there will be a selection of hand tools ( sometimes interesting) and a load of 00s tyoe power tools...not interesting as in almost every case... the batteries are 'Fubarred' or missing..
If you like camping or need a tire inflator the Craftsman V20 Tire inflator is good with the set pressure then it'll auto cut-off when it's reached. It also has 120V, 12V, and 20V plus a air mattress inflator and tire inflator. I hate the actual valves stim piece it got chewed up with constant use and leaks faster then it can pump almost. The ability to use 3 different powers input is pretty much why I got it since so other brands don't make a 12V version with a 12V cigarette plug in which I mean Milwaukee.
This seems like a wonderful tool set if you were limited on space. Maybe an apartment or townhome. I would love to see more of your 3D printing and how you incorporate this into other tools.
Yes!! 3d attachment to drills/tools. Perfect example is the fitting for the air pump. If u get bored and need an idea. 3d print a foam cutting blade. I know a hot knife works great. But what if what could 3d print a blade for our grinder without buying the hot knife tools. Foam/cork/cardboard blade? 3d print a cloth blafe if u want a challenge.

This looks like a copy of the Black&Decker Matrix line, i had used them for years as it was all i could afford and gave me a drill, an impact, a sawzall, and a 3in circular saw, pretty much built my deck with it. This would have been a nice bit a kit for me back in those days
This is a chinese knockoff of the Craftsman Bolt On A.K.A the Black and Decker Matrix. I had the Craftmas version and most of the attachements. For a DIY person they were wonderful. Loved mine. The attachments between the two were identical and were interchangable. I only just recently had mine go up in smoke after using it for over 11 years.
Ridgid had something called JobMax that was a separate power device with various attachments. And Ryobi made an oscillating tool that was a JobMax compatible power head that accepted those Ridgid JobMax attachments.

A Black + Decker 20V MAX matrix. I believe they have 9 attachments for it. I have one and have 5 attachments. (Porter Cable attachments work with it.) All good quality.
One of my attachments is a detail sander, much like the one you showed and I like it. Yes, it has no dust collection, but that's typical of all detail sanders. I simply use mine outside and use a mask.
Another attachment I have is an inflater I use it to keep my tires inflated. I have one with a slow leak that the tire shop can't cure. This attachment makes the entire set worth buying.
I bought cheap tools and most worked enough to do my diy ... this seems to be one of those packs you buy at the start of the project hoping it will last the project ... the only good part is that you can get the body for cheap if it dies and you get aleardy all your tools back or just get a aecond one to decrease swapping heads/functions all the time
This is actually super impressive…for a homeowner that has no allegiance to a trade, this could be very useful. Although, I hate to say it. If AliBaba could eliminate the exorbitant shipping costs this is close to a reasonable price. Granted, this thing wouldn’t last for any amount of serious work. Good for Grandma and her housekeeping tho!
This was very entertaining to watch. My only question throughout this video was: how long does the battery last? Don't think I'll be buying this tool though. I would love to see more 3d print and design.
You dont need a key to tighten an angle grinder disc. Just make sure its off, id remove the battery, then you can tighten it by hand. Ive never used a key though they're available, its not necessary if you know how to do it by hand
Looks like the system was designed for someone who would occasionally need tools for small projects. It has a reasonable price point for what you get. The sander doesn't have a dust collector but for limited use it is acceptable. Same goes for all the attachments because for a limited use collection the goal is to just get the job done. It is something I would have chunked in the back of the car when visiting my parents or grandparents to take care of anything they needed instead of my old Ford F350 extended van chocked to the brim with high end tools. I would gladly have delt with those things than take a portable gas guzzler shop on wheels. Now that a broken neck and back took me out of the field years ago something like that would be great around the house for little projects I can still do. I just wish there was a better option for something like that. Maybe something that drops the air compressor and yard tools for better attachments but at a reasonable price point.
I kinda like it this would be perfekt for a home were you do occasionally work. Definitely not for professional use but for a person who build a shelf or do a bit of light work you can't get a better price for at least 8 ok tools
Could you tell us exactly which iso tunes you have. They show several and do not identify which ones were yours. Thanks a lot. Love your channel, and can’t wait for the next shed video.
I would have to say I only continued to watch this video for the sheer entertainment value of you trying out each attachment. I would have to say that buying this would be unjustifiable for its price despite the entertainment value your video gave it.
This is just like the Craftsman Bolt-On system (also cheaper version marketed under Black and Decker). I still have it with about 7-8 add-ons and still use it today. Probably the best tool investment I made in 20 years. This, however, does not look as good.
While i get where they were going with grinder, that is finger cutter. Maybe if you almost never use one and use it for sanding disks.. maybe but yeah that is a no. For the rest those seem functional for smaller stuff and in a pinch.
I noticed you couldn't adjust it to a low speed. The digital selector looks similar to most chinese knockoff tools. The button does different things depending on the drill/impact rotation (clockwise or anticlockwise). Maybe that is how you get low speed.
3:41 I... typically just slide in the bit and pull the trigger till the bit it tight. Then give it a little extra mmph for good measure. Is that not normal to do?
Another thing. Is the steal hardened on the shears, or is it soft stainless steel. There were no blackened coloration from hardening to spot. At least I couldn't see it on a tiny cell phone screen
I like the look of your long clamps on the wall. Could you tell me who makes them & perhaps a demo? They look superb. Nice review of the multi-tool system. Some of them look useful.
Dude! I've been waiting for a video on this for a long time! I have a FULL set of craftsman bolt on (same concept, but different locking system). Too bad they're not better quality. Btw, your tool works with makita batteries
I give the whole thing a dud. However, I'll give your video a stud and a thumbs' up. I especially liked the Pinto analogy with the flame out! It's a free world Brad, keep on rockin'.
I would have hoped that you tested the drill attachement a little further, like for example if the clutch for the screw mode stops at the right power or if the hammer drill mode is worth its salt

I bought cheap tools and most worked enough to do my diy ... this seems to be one of those packs you buy at the start of the project hoping it will last the project ... the only good part is that you can get the body for cheap if it dies and you get aleardy all your tools back or just get a aecond one to decrease swapping heads/functions all the time
Reminds me of an older Craftsmans tool I had a very long time ago..you had to screw in the attachments to a pistol motor base.
Your impact gun sound effect was pretty awesome.
Fun to see you try all of the attachments. But….ill pass and stick to the specific use versions.
Would love to see some 3d printing
Do be nice to the Pinto! I drove a Ford Explosion Special (Pinto) for a few years. Great little car!
This was very entertaining to watch. My only question throughout this video was: how long does the battery last?
Don't think I'll be buying this tool though.
I would love to see more 3d print and design.
On the plus side I bet it uses makita betteries
Looks like at least a 6 AH battery so should last a decent amount of time. If they've used semi decent cells might be 9 AH .
Probably the same one you threw out 10 years ago@@maxbrinker9333
You dont need a key to tighten an angle grinder disc. Just make sure its off, id remove the battery, then you can tighten it by hand. Ive never used a key though they're available, its not necessary if you know how to do it by hand
The look of excitement when the blower/hair dryer turned on was priceless!
#1 rating bonsi tree kit!!
3D printing videos? Yes, please!
I kinda like it this would be perfekt for a home were you do occasionally work. Definitely not for professional use but for a person who build a shelf or do a bit of light work you can't get a better price for at least 8 ok tools
I don't hate it..... If you're an living the apartment life, where space is critical.....it does OK for small stuff.
Could you tell us exactly which iso tunes you have. They show several and do not identify which ones were yours. Thanks a lot. Love your channel, and can’t wait for the next shed video.
Yep, I love the Xtra 2.0, that's my go to in the shop. Around town I like the wireless Free 2.0. And hope to be back on the shed soon
Love your stuff. Please keep making videos.
Fun demonstration.
Thanks for the video Brad
I would have to say I only continued to watch this video for the sheer entertainment value of you trying out each attachment. I would have to say that buying this would be unjustifiable for its price despite the entertainment value your video gave it.
That primal omg Roar when you finished using the chainsaw attachment 🤣
Seems like the combo of the chainsaw plus the grass trimmer would actually be good for larger shrubs
This is just like the Craftsman Bolt-On system (also cheaper version marketed under Black and Decker). I still have it with about 7-8 add-ons and still use it today. Probably the best tool investment I made in 20 years. This, however, does not look as good.
Great video Brad! I'm going to pass on the tool but you get a huge thumbs up from me on more 3D printing stuff. 😀
It pretty much makes you appreciate your good tools.
The sander "test" had me in stitches LOL
3:41 I... typically just slide in the bit and pull the trigger till the bit it tight. Then give it a little extra mmph for good measure. Is that not normal to do?
Many of the dudes seem ok.
Yhe jetwash would be great for mountain biking quick clean up before loading up.
To hold the trigger down for that inflator, use a strap that is double sided Velcro. Wrap that around the trigger tightly and walk away …
Try holding the button down to change the gear
I think you’ve found the Shopsmith of drills.
Craftsman youse to make one of these in cored and battery I’ve gat a battery one with some of the attachments
This tool set will make you really appreciate the 'proper' tools when you get them!
Another thing. Is the steal hardened on the shears, or is it soft stainless steel. There were no blackened coloration from hardening to spot. At least I couldn't see it on a tiny cell phone screen
i've got the Lidl version and for small jobs its perfect
03:40 does it not lock when you set it halfway between forward and reverse? Thats how a few manuals ive read suggest doing it to chuck up bits.
Is the battery compatible with any of the major brands?
I like the look of your long clamps on the wall. Could you tell me who makes them & perhaps a demo? They look superb. Nice review of the multi-tool system. Some of them look useful.
The long blue clamps are Rockler panel clamps. Harbor Freight has a similar knock off.
Air volume (output) described as a number before metres squared? Surely cubed..?
Love the videos! Big fan, been watching for a while. It makes me chuckle to see how adverse to dust you are given what you do haha!
Dude! I've been waiting for a video on this for a long time! I have a FULL set of craftsman bolt on (same concept, but different locking system). Too bad they're not better quality. Btw, your tool works with makita batteries
that thing is impressive!
Can the pressure washer be hooked directly to a garden hose running water?
The cool impact sound you are talking about is on air impacts only lol
This reminds me of the Black and Decker matrix drill
Yes! More 3D printing, absolutely!
Well I’m gonna give this video a thumbs up
Funny thing is if they raised the price like $20 and addressed the materials problems that kit would be very cool and useful.
It would pair well with a Walmart "home repair kit." It's the power tool for guys that have half a shelf in the laundry room for all their tools.
If you really want to test the reciprocating saw cut a couple of nailed together 2x4's
I give the whole thing a dud. However, I'll give your video a stud and a thumbs' up. I especially liked the Pinto analogy with the flame out! It's a free world Brad, keep on rockin'.
It's a great idea, I think and wanted it for a long time, but we need to wait for a better quality.
You are funnier than most stand up comedians.
I would have hoped that you tested the drill attachement a little further, like for example if the clutch for the screw mode stops at the right power or if the hammer drill mode is worth its salt
