Great suggestions for starting off! I use all of these effects myself. My current board has a Crybaby Wah, Boss DD-8 Delay (which doubles as a looper), a Boss DS-1 Distortion, and an MXR Phase 90. I have a foot switch for my amp for overdrive and reverb and that set up works really well for me. I play everything from 60s blues rock to heavy metal and those effects cover most anything I want to play.
Good thing to buy if you are on a budget is a multieffect pedal. It has all the bells and whistles and it's just one device and probably cheaper at the end. Also for practice use I highly recommend a looper pedal. Multieffects almost every time has a looper in it but it can be quite restricted.
All her suggestions are built into the Katana. There is even a tuner that is not in their literature. (ua-cam.com/video/moVGSHz79Yk/v-deo.html ) No looper though.
It's not surprising that pedal discussions can go on for days. There are lots of theories on what types of pedals are a must, which pedals to buy first, and what order they should be in. If you can get to a store that sells pedals, try out as many as you can. If you can't do that, find a site like Sweetwater (www.sweetwater.com) that sells guitars, amps, pedals, etc. and go to the pedal section. Click on one and scroll down, there's usually a video of it being demo'd. UA-cam is good for that too. My recommendation is this - regardless of what pedals you want, or end up with, get a pedal board that's solid and has the room to place all of them on it. I've seen a number of friends go out and buy 3 or 4 essential pedals, and then buy a pedal board that fits 3 or 4 pedals, only to end up with 4 or 5 additional pedals along the way, and then they end up having to go out and buy a larger pedal board.
@@krisersn3092 The Helix is a good option. it opens the discussion on pedals vs guitar effects processors such as Line 6 Helix, Zoom G11, Boss GT 1000, etc. That would be a good discussion for Marty - Guitar Effects Processor options. 🤘🤘🤘
My current pedal board set up: cry baby mini wah into jhs 3 series reverb, into OCD, into Danecho delay, into a random mini looper. Want to upgrade looper and Danecho.
I have a modeling amp and I love it but it is kind of limited as far as stacking effects combos. I have a crybaby and a looper. Once I graduate to a big boy amp I’ll probably get more pedal.
Thanks for the great advice on pedals! I've just recently started introducing myself to the electric side LoL 😂 so my les paul is going to love the extras.... My neighbors, not so much LoL 😂🤣😂 Again thanks for the lesson and I love your work BTW
Thanks for the lesson Lindsay. Your videos are terrific! The passion you have for guitar really shines. Do you like to use reverb and delay together? If you do, what order do you like them in?
Dear Marty Schwartz I thank you for all the helpful, awesome, amazing tutorials you have given us. I just learned ZZ Top’s sharp dressed man’s, riff and the rest of the start of the song. I was wondering if you could teach me and everyone else the solo or solos please. Again, thank you for all you have done for us and for me. Hope you are doing well and keep the channel running. My regards one of your students, Liam.
All the songs I want to play I can't, because I cant afford any pedals to make the tune sound right that or a better amp that doesn't randomly change mid song
Thanks for the tips. Would you give the same recommendations to everyone from someone on a worship team to someone imto metal? There is also acoustic pedals. Can you use a reverb pedal with an acoustic or should it be made for an acoustic guitar?
Hey Lindsay Singer Song Writer Anthony Smith is looking for a new lead guitarist for his Classic Rock band in Nashville. I wonder why electronic haven’t replaced mechanical pedals yet? Like AmpliTube and irig stomp
3 pedals? Idk, stomping Tom and wilf carter never needed any. Nor did Malcolm (or Stevie) Young-they just hit their strings harder. And angus only ever used a Schaffer Vega wireless system (clean boost knob, gain knob and snap)or one of the replicas. He gave up on the wah wah after a few tries. Tuner pedal seems practical though
@@roberta.3486 Its a list that she suggests. Other people may have different opinions, it's no big deal. She simply stated that if you ready use something else to tune your guitar then... And made another suggestion. I wouldn't let it ruin your day. To some those 3 suggestions will help massively, to some others they may find 3 other pedals are better. Each to their own individual needs and wants.
So this is what marty looks like with no hat
Marty looks different today... 🤔
He's been growing out his hair
Cmooooooooooon mate
In a day
He's wearing a wig, and speaking in little falsetto.
Marty's eyes so blue
And there's nothing I can do
Marty transitioned really well. Must have had great surgeons!

Pedals are always ultimately fun to mess around with! No shortage in them!
Yes turn them all on
Looper is a must
Every beginner should buy a Klon Centaur it’s almost impossible to get any better without one
Compression can be a GREAT tool for guitarists. For us bass players, compression is a staple, but it can be really useful for guitar players too.

I prefer a clip tuner and spend the tuner pedal money in a different one
Yeah, same. I'm on a very tight budget and got my first electric a few weeks ago, so I still need to get a looper
If you want to setup your guitar by yourself pedal tuner is must have... For intonation...
Looking good Marty!😃
My first pedal was a chorus and I plan to get an overdrive and delay!
Im on my way, need this ASAP
How she doesn't get her hair caught in the strings is beyond me.
I stuff lockes of my hair into my strings and it sounds like a sitar.

First Lindsay video I watched and was very impressed. Great addition to the channel Marty (although you were missed :)
Im sure a tuner pedal would be easier to use then a clip on but you could probably get a better pedal in that spot. Maybe
Hey ... I have a natural Tele with a tortoise pick-guard. A gift from dad.
Nice playing and tone. 🙂
Marty you look different, are you felling ok?

Lindsay, I noticed your wah pedal says "Wah this way". Is that influenced by Aerosmith's Walk This Way? LOL

My first pedal was a mega distortion and I did not regret it
I guessed looper would be a number 3! Lol. A looper is a must for me. 🤟🎸🤟
Lullaby on delay (by the Cure)? Lol sounded a bit like it..great song.

Really tasteful playing!
My favourite pedal so far is TC Electronic MojoMojo overdrive.. Looking for Fuzz pedal love that sound.. :)

Distortion pedal?
Surprised and saddened there was no mention of a chorus pedal in the list
WAH THIS WAY! Love it!
delay or reverb??
Reverb
I want a loop pedal.
Does anyone know the name of the guitar she is playing. I have the exact same one but it doesn't have any name or model on it
Its a stratocaster

Can someone explain why a tuner pedal is essential? Wouldn’t a clip tuner do the job?
Marty , She's Better Looking Then You ... LOL .
I enjoyed the Video ...
I miss the Old Days when Amplifiers had Reverb in them
Stratocasters, fender amps, overdrive, cute blondes… everything I love in life
I disagree. Replace that tuner for an EQ pedal (serves as a volume boost as well). Buy a quality clip on tuner.
Finally! I've been waiting for Marty to tell me about pedals, Im stuck between a bunch of them and this helped so much
even if it was Lindsay
thx
WHERES MARTY WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM

@@mrmcecheese1456 what......
NOOOOOOOOOO
First pedal should be a wah. Acts as filter or drive. Plus they're super fun for learning players and pros alike.
ceriatone = happytone from Malaysia
If you're a working musician then , sure, get a tuner pedal. If not, don't waste the space on your garage pedal board that will never see a stage...
Disagree. Tuner pedal never falls off, doesn’t get lost, and are generally more accurate.

Right off the bat, the first pedal mentioned is a waste of money. Tons of alternatives out there.
