In this tutorial i have shown how to calculate the quantity of steel required for construction of an RCC column. It's quite an easy task to calculate the quantity of steel required for the construction of RCC members.
I have illustrated this method with the help of a solved example.
After watching the complete tutorial you will be able to calculate the quantity of steel required for the construction of a column.
Also this will give you a clear idea how to calculate the number of lateral ties required in a column and also the the cutting length of steel in column and the various formulas involved.
This will also help you in finding the total weight of steel required in a column and also the gross weight of steel by including the 5% wastage of steel.
Queries solved in the tutorial;
Cutting length of lateral ties
Number of lateral ties required in a column
Total length of longitudinal bars in column
Total length of of lateral ties required in column
Development length of column
Weight of longitudinal bars
Weight of lateral ties
Weight of stirrups
Gross weight of steel required in column

Sir u r doing good work for all civil engineers 👍
Sir You're so great Civil engineering student from Philippines, you save me
Your my real teacher and mentor thank you sir I'm from Pakistan
Really thank you sir you are the best .. and also pronunciation understood very easily sir
It's very useful 🙏👍
Thanks for the good lecture
muze 1 doubt hai sir 135 degree per 3d lete hai to 10d kyu liya
For 135° neglect 2x3d in lateral ties cutting length
Kiya hai hhai
S,,for 135 degrees taking 3d,, you are correct,,
This was magical
Very Good, Thanks
I think there will be deduction of 2*d bend at 40 d near the bent up bar of Column Continuing into the slab and same at the footing
your tutor is nice!. we can add different size of bar weight together?
their costs and purpose are different. Revise it again
Very good information
D.L at the bottom end =16d=d is the dia of longitudinal bars
16×25mm=400mm
300mm I am confused
Please. teacher clearify that
Me to
Thanks sir
Can you please tell what is 25 (in 40 *d)
It's diameter of bar
Same question me
25mm is the dia of longitudinal bar in column
Dia of bar
Sir why you added 12 two times in first step of finding length of longitudinal bars, isn't it be -(12+60) ?
Same doubt sir
Thanks
(12+12+60)
12 dia of footing bar and 60 is the dia of clear cover till that i know after that there is another 12 also there na from where it is coming (ei 12 ) plz tell me someone
It is because we have 12 mm bars in both L and B direction. There for deduct both, I.e (12+12+60)
Please give the Longitudinal bar formula please
why i can use dia of footing bars twice ( 12+12+60)
May be it is for 2 sides so it will be 2x12
Because footing is 2 crossing layers of bars which forms a mesh.
Sir, Why didn't you subtract 2 bends in the cutting length longitudinal bar ? Can anyone explain it to me
This is a mistake bro
Weight of longitudinal bar ... diameter 12 square why not ?
Y se @ se T etc. What means sir
Longitudinal bar size is 25mm or 12mm
Longitudinal bar dia = 25mm
Footing bar dia = 12mm both ways
40d = (40*25) where does 25 comes from??
25 is the dia of longitudinal bar
Its 12 how come 25
The footing bar are 12mm
The (4) longitudinal are 25mm (he stated verbally)
And the lateral ties are 8mm
👍
I enjoyed your lesson but you are being too fast and not being an Indian speaker the ascent is difficult for me to understand. Thank you 🤝
❤❤❤
Why 12 is added 2Nd time again
12mm bars provided both ways in footing
We don't need to add the top cover because that's included in development length (40d) from top side
Length of longitudinal bar will be equal to {height of column from footing bed upto bottom of slab i.e 4m - (bottom cover + dia of transverse footing bars i.e 2x12) + Total development length (top + bottom)}
95kg steel use for one column
40d =40X25 ? .. WHAT IS THE 25 ?
Diameter of bar
Steel dia 25mm
25 mm = Longitudinal bar dia.
Diameter of main bar (longitudinal bar)
