Building a Steel Pipe Garden Fence | Notching, Welding & Setting Posts
Вставка
- Опубліковано 21 тра 2024
- Our garden is beginning to take shape after 4 grueling days of setting posts and notching the corner supports. With 3 - 1/2 inch used drill pipe as the backbone we can rest assured we built a fence to last.
We appreciate you tagging along for our Alaskan adventure 😀
Thank you for watching and supporting our channel! 💙

That fence is so solid and well done that it will not only protect your garden from moose, but also from grizzly, elephants, gorillas, rhinos and dinosaurs. Great job Arielle and Eric!
Runaway freight trains, various natural disasters. Yep, that's a Hell for stout fence. lol
@@MrAcuta73 Jurassic Park critter-proof...🤣 🦕🦖...
That's right, but they never attack the same place twice. They were testing the fences for weaknesses, systematically. They remember.
😂😂😂
Jurassic Park called - they want their fence back! Awesome job you guys!
Que the Jurassic music...

Nuts, I just made that joke too
@@jennygirl8849 right forget the chickens, get some ostrach.
LOL!!
Lol!
My dad always said, "Build it like you will be there forever." You never know, you might be. You always do an incredible job in whatever you do.
Bo was always in the middle of every project hoping for pets or snacks. It's fitting he'll always be in the middle of this one too.
Suggestion to think about: putting caps on top of the metal posts to keep rain out so they dont freeze and possibly burst. Love, love, love each and every video!! We all appreciate you two!
Definitely need caps...
With there soil I don’t think they will have to worry, pipes will never be full , if the pipes fill with water with there soil they have , they gonna have a lot more issues to worry about then that lol , and that’s 1/4 inch steel , can’t say I’ve seen metal pipes in the ground burst here in Canada at -40 f , but it is possible ,
I thought of the same thing about capping the posts.
Yep Caps
Don’t need to cap posts , just drill a 1/4” hole in each post 2-3 inches above ground level. This will let ant moisture out of post. Also probably do not need to cope corner pipes, you can get plenty of weld top and bottom of pipe.
Kids, I’m 70 and I got tired just watching you! 😁😉
I am 66, ditto. Just the thought of lifting anything weighing 200 lbs makes me tired. I can barely walk with a 40 lb bag of pet food. In my teens I could carry 2 bags of 100 lbs each, but no more!
You get tired just rolling out of bed
I’m 61 and feel the same way
71 for me. I used to be that ambitious. Now, I say I’m quite ambitious for my age!
🤣😂😅
Everyone's probably heard of a "safe room" and ya'll just built a "safe garden". Bravo!
I hope you two can understand just how many people’s lives you have positively influenced. Some to travel, some to start gardening or canning again and some to just start dreaming that all things are possible if you work hard enough. Thank you from the 1000’s you inspire. Good health and peace
Many years ago, I was in line at a salad bar with my son who was probably 3 or 4 years old. I was pointing out some things that were similar to what we grew in our own garden. A stranger asked my son what our best crop was. Without hesitation he answered, “weeds and wocks “. Funny.
My best friend told me about your channel 4 years ago. He was a bad ass biker dude inching in on his late 60's. He always had this dream though, of doing what you two do. He even grew veggies last year and started a tomato plant from seed this year! I lost him May 1st to cancer, but you have no idea how you inspire people from all walks of life. We used to text each other when a new episode was posted so we could watch it together but in our own homes. I live similarly to you here in Effingham NH, and my dear friend would love this vid. You touch lives!❤
100,000+ views in 7 hours for a view on installing a steel fence. That must be a record. You guys are incredible. All the best from Canada.
Next project...Build A Hot Tub, a Sauna, a Steam Room and a Plunge Pool! That should take care of all your ailments. Great job, can't wait to see the finished garden.
They 💯 need a hot tub and / or sauna!
Sauna!
Eric & Arielle, you are the Bees Knees and awesome at using your Thinkers! Thanks for taking us with you! You bring smiles … Rest up! Well deserved!
I could watch a 5 hour video of you guys building stuff I will never have the need to do and still be entertained. I hope I am still watching you guys in 10 years time. 🌸🐨🌸
Hopefully by that time they have at least 1 kid, natural or adopted
@@Controlled_Insanity_003they have said previously they are not interested in having kids
@AussieTracy same. Watching baking, caning, camping, gardening, building all ok. Yet I will watch episodes of Eric do things that should bore me to TEARS - generator problems, Quonset hut screws, chainsaw oil thingy, and the recent sawmill blade slippage (? comments said sap buildup, use diesel) etc and I love it! Could watch all day. I think it’s the combined work ethic, humour and the working-it-out ingenuity that make me love watching any and all content…. as well, as the absolutely stunning videography.
I'm 65, retired florist. I could watch you guys for hours. I want to be strong like Arielle. I used to be😊
The 20 YR old me wishes I could have seen your videos, The over the hill man I am now lives vicariously through your enjoyable videos, THANK YOU !! 😁Live the dream. 🌄
I love that you buried Bo in the garden, he'll always be a part of it 💛 that tractor is worth its weight in gold, what an excellent investment for you guys!
Love the bloopers! So tired you can't even talk anymore 🤪
I absolutely love that you take us along with you guys living the dream. It is an inspiration of the highest order. Thank you.
It's precious that Bo is still with us in the garden. Good place for bench for a sit and think next to him. Have a blessed week.
I hope yall don't ever forget how amazing it is, to have a relationship/partnership you do. To find someone that mutually loves you, gets you, respects and appreciates you, PLUS works well together, help each other, and do everything together like yall do, is very rare, at least in my world!
I love that Bo is part of your garden ❤️
I also caught her saying that. Very special to add Bo.
yes, when we had to move I told the housing manager we would agree to the move as long as they disinterred our dog and reburied her at the new house together with the rose bush she was buried under. They did.
After so many years of watching this channel i really don't think that it can get any better! Arielle and Eric I think that you have found the sweet spot on what it takes to be a successful UA-camr and I love it.
And I thought keeping deer out of my garden was tough! God bless y'all!
I’m always sad when one of your videos are over! But how do you even put out as many videos as you do?! You’re both exceptional humans! ❤ Thank you for sharing your life with us.
Extreme couple, for Extreme Alaska. You two are building an unbelievable, over the top compound. I'm old, so I think you both as kids. What an accomplishment. ❤
Arielle always getting the special Scenery and Animal shots to add good balance for the Viewers, thanx.😃
The beautiful birds you have around and they singing so nice
Ariel: “EXTREME LIVING ALASKA!” I like it! You’ve long since left “Simple” in the dust!
Not me complaining all weekend because I mulched my mother's flowerbeds all by myself ... and then seeing this :) :) lol
Shame on you, this channel should reach a million subscribers. Thanks for U guys❤❤
It will, I have been watching for years and they are growing every week.
I know right!! I'll unsubscribe so I can resubscribe
Yeah, I also like to watch the numbers climb!
I started watching them when they had 300k sub. Now, they are growing and 783k sub.
784K ❤
Eric and Arielle, it is so wonderful to watch a couple work together on their dreams.
I really look forward to your videos. I am not only entertained but I learn a lot as well. I can only imagine the physical and mental effort you two go through. Not only do you build, hunt, gather, and cook, but you also plan out your videos, decide what you're going to say, film them, edit them, then publish them. Holy Moly. Arielle even welded this time. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
Old river bed + Alaska = GOLD😊❤😊
Bo is my favorite. Thank you for letting us know he's buried in the garden. Will miss him less.
I'm an older person(60's ) i'm building raised beds , wow I'm liking the raised beds, mine are 24 to 30 inches in height, they are making gardening fun again
Thank you for the pictures of the birds. Before my husband passed we enjoyed watching birds. It makes me feel happy to get to see some birds I’ve not seen before. Stay safe!
I’m always slightly sad when your videos end. It’s like visiting close friends. Thanks for the content and quality. Your camaraderie is beautiful to see. It’s special that Bo is in the garden. 🙂💚
It’s funny. There are other channels doing similar stuff in Alaska but I don’t watch them. For some reason, your videos are more entertaining and interesting. The filming and editing are fabulous and the way you talk to the camera (us) is so engaging. Thanks so much for bringing us all along with you.
looking at the bloopers in the end, it looks like the hardest part about building this fence was telling us about it all :D
OMG Eric. You are exhausted!!! Arielle, you have to be in some seriously major back pain. You BOTH push yourselves to the limit. I look at the 2 of you and I believe you live each day to the fullest. The quonset hut build is another perfect example of how amazing it is to watch what the 2 of you can actually accomplish!! It really does boggle my mind. Love you both dearly.❤ ~ Peg
No one is gonna do for us.... Wow, what an realisation verse. If this verse could be understanding to everyone, no one is gonna sit idle in their lives. Awesome work guys👍👌❤
No better feeling than to build your own project and enjoy it! My favorite UA-cam channel!!!
I know this is personal but I think y'all would make the best parents that could share so much. Your resourcefulness, kindness, and willingness to take on new challenges is certainly what the world needs more of.
They would make great parents, but they have spoken about not wanting children. It was in a Q&A video they did while ice fishing.
You two just make everything happen regardless of how difficult it may be. I look forward to these videos every week.
Bandit's ready! Pepper be like: "Mi sneky." Eric, Posts are vertical, which you want "PLUMB". Rails are horizontal, which you want "LEVEL". Corners you want "SQUARE". to make them square, use the 3'/4'/5' measurement method. Mark 3' length of one leg, then mark 4' length on the other leg. From each of those marks you measure diagonally, and when you get 5' measurement the angle is "square". Your corner-to-corner measurement being the same is verifying your work. Nice work you two. The sweet part of how you're building this fence is that it'd be super easy to string a wire at one given height to stand out from the fence and charge it with electricity if you wanted to, which could be added at any time later on, and the whole perimeter is already "grounded". Rest up those backs for the next phase! Now go fix a fantastic meal to help those bodies heal.
I was sure someone would mention plumb verse level as Eric has made this mistake on most of his construction projects. We all know what he is saying but coming from the construction industry for 35 years it's just hard to not want to correct them.
We greatly admire your ability to do those projects, yourselves. Finding affordable, skilled, reliable, and sober, contractors is virtually impossible in rural Alaska.
I love that Bo is part of the foundation of your garden and thereby part of your future. 🐾❤
Gold gold gold - there's gold in that. 😊
Just for the halibut got test that dirt for gold.. maybe a surprise or nothing lol
E n A, you’re ahead of your time. We’ll be along in the next few years or so. You’ve turned my mind to the small garden here as well as helping an elderly neighbor lady with her large garden. This feels better than grinding through a miserable career. Thanks for the library.
Hi Guys a few years ago we used ex North Sea drilling tube as piles for a hotel in Scotland its still standing its incredibly strong tube whatever the diameter keep up the good work
You have by far the BEST channel to watch! I love the diversity of your content! So enjoyable to watch! A lot of channels have the same mundane intro and endings...they get old after 2 episodes! Plus you keep it real and not make it out to be what it isn't! Keep up the great work!
I need a break and all I did was watch you work 😮💨😮💨. For sure, take some time to recoup. Awww, so sweet Bo will be right there with you.
A great bison corral. That will keep any moose out of the garden. Great job. Forget Ford tough, as Ariel said ALASKA EXTREME.
Wow, I’m tired and I’ve been lying down, doing nothing but watching you. Good job.
Man, that tractor, talking about a good investment!
Very nice fence work! Y’all work so incredibly hard! Take a break and take care of yourselves! Praying y’all feel better! God bless y’all! 😀❤️🙏🏻
Homesteading requires all the skills of a Seabee and then some Well Done gang!
Every time the wife and I move we say this is our forever home. We have moved 20 times, this house we bought almost 3 years ago and we talked about moving again for the last year. Love the adventure.
@dougnoonan5663, Wondering why have you moved 20 times?
Wife and I have (only) moved two times cross county in 19 years and the last time was when pregnant with our first child. We said, "this is our forever home" and never wanted to do it again. Now two kids later (ages 19 and 15) we find ourselves moving yet again. This time it's to Fairbanks Ak from northern NY. This ordeal of moving everything we own 4,200 miles, buying a home and selling a home all at the same time, is so overwhelming we are saying this move/home will be our "forever home" lol
Somebody after you😆
I can't Believe you would do that to your selves. I hate moving.
yeah.......moved about less then that!
i am in the tenth of moving n i hated every second of it!
now i have a cheap small rental and a selfbuild
ex-civil-transportation-bus-rv
n some trailers for my tools n equipment!
since that build then i am pretty much stationary!
✌😁
If you ever have bear trouble your garden will be the place to head for. Fantastic job folks! And I'm not surprised you see both feeling a bit off centre. Take care, see you next video. Xx
Thank you for the time and care you invest in your video quality. Nature around you is awesome and you share it beautifully. 👍👏🎉❤️
You guys are incredibly skilled! So nice that Bo will always be resting in your garden.
The thought of cutting down the height of those metal posts is terrifying.
Loved all the birds at the beginning of the video. You works hard. It looks great. Glad to be a part of the new garden. It will be so nice. Hope you slept like babies and gave yourselves a little break.
I am so pleased to be a part of this!!!!
Watched your build of a Steel Pipe Garden Fence yesterday. Wow! What a concept! Good job you two. We're looking forward to seeing your big garden develop this year. We really enjoy your channel.
Please rest! I am taking some pain killers just watching you from my couch! Amazing progress, I can see the cabbage already!
You are legend 😁. Put caps on top of the pipes or water will collect inside of the pipes and then destroy them.
That was so wonderful to see a Robin there! That fence will be incredible. And how perfect that Bo will be near you while you garden away. Hugs and luv
Whew, get some rest guys that was a tiring job, but a job well done. Love learning along with you. I never intend to use any of the skills I learn from most videos except for cooking, maybe canning, garden… but every topic is so interesting the way you guys present it. Tools, sawmills, electrical, LOVE it all! Garden will be amazing, cannot wait!❤
Bloopers😂. Those were great! You guys are the bees knees. I never get bored with your content. Can't wait to see what happens next. 💯💥❤
Arielle had her Thinking Ball Cap on huh?
You two really are a Dynamic Duo of getting stuff done. Rest up and I'll be ready for whenever you share your next update.
I've never been so excited for somebody elses garden. I'm looking forward for the tour among the plants showing everything growing up, the harvesting, the canning vlogs... I love all of those!
When you both Engineer/build something, you do it to last!! Great video/project!
I just wanted to say that the intro was so beautiful.
"Fairspank's" in the outakes at the end. Just brilliant!
Thank's for the video guy's.
Great work.
I’m so excited to see the finished project on the garden and the first bounty of produce for 2024! You guys are rock stars!! 🤘🌟
With your short "summer" it's obvious you must plan carefully and stick to it. My God, how you manage to pull this off is amazing!
The nature, both animals and scenery, you show in your opening sequences just keep getting better and better. You have a wonderful land to spotlight, and you do an outstanding job.
Opening Sequence was amazing and beautiful!! This whole episode was excellent! Thank you!!
W0W on the fence watching ye work through the issues is awe inspiring
Good afternoon everyone! Eric that TYM / Branson tractor is a beast glad you guy’s invested in it. Take care
Your work ethic is awesome. There are a lot of young kids now a days that could learn a lot from you two.
So cool! Amazing job, i cannot imagine how tired ya’ll must’ve been 😅. Such special memories you are making together!
I can’t imagine being more tired than watching you put up that metal tunnel. Omg…..that blew me away….but here you go again with this project! But…get it done now. One day you’ll wake up old and won’t be able to do anything like this. In your older years, east to maintain….wow….❤
We feel your pain! We're in the process of building an 8 foot wood fence in Hawaii. Metal doesn't last her, so it's pressure treated posts, through lava rock, which is solid in some areas. I can't help anymore, so it's a lot more work for my 74 year old husband.
Love what you're doing. It's amazing how common sense and hard work can make such wonderful projects.
Do you two ever take a day off and just rest and read a book. Laze around and just enjoy a day off. I get tired just watching you. Really enjoy all your videos, and who ever does the editing...KUDOS!!!!✨
💜💜💜
Dang, now that’s a fence - ain’t nothing getting in there! Excited to see it all finished…until next time…
💜💜💜
That is definitely going to be a very nice steel pipe fence
for your garden especially with all of those animals that
will get into the garden running around the woods there
have a great rest of the week thanks y'all.🇺🇲🏔️🏔️🇺🇲
Beautiful birds! I feed them every morning what they don't eat deer get the rest at night love the garden I learned so much watching yalls gardening videos😊 awesome big garden wowee!
Rounded rock. Old river. Sounds like a place you would find gold
You two are inspiring. I do feel part of your journey.
We appreciate that! 🥰
I am so looking forward to your Summer! Thanks for sharing as always.
This is giving me reverse Jurassic Park vibes. You're building this giant fence trying to keep the megafauna out.
'Extreme Living Alaska' Love it.❤
Bo loved laying in the pathways at the other property, happy to hear he is going to be laying in this garden as well, awesome job guys, love your channel
It's just amazing that you 2 as a team do such BIG jobs I can't get over that shop yall did just you 2 yall should be proud of yourselves😊
LOVE IT ERIC---YOU GET YOUR WORDS "TANGLED" TOO, JUST LIKE THE REST OF US---MADE ME HAVE A REALLY GOOD, FUN, LAUGH,, IF I'D BEEN THERE WITH YOU, I'D SAY WHAT MY DAUGHTER SAYS TO ME "TOMORROW WE GET OUR WORDS???"' FEELS LIKE YOU'RE FRIENDS/FAMILY---IF STRANGERS COME UP AND GIVE YOU BIG WARM HUGS, YOU LIKELY WOULD THINK "WHO IS THIS STRANGER HUGGING ME??" WELL LIKELY IT WOULD BE PEOPLE LIKE ME, WHO WATCH EVERY SINGLE VIDEO AND CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT NEW ONE TO POST!!! WE LOVE YOU BOTH!!
You guys learnt so much about growing in Alaska's conditions at your old place.
You are both amazing, you work so hard together to get things done, loved seeing bandit playing ❤
So cool. Thank you for letting us in on your garden plans. Bo’s resting place will be glorious❣️
It's so sweet knowing that Bo gets to be a part of the garden. And I enjoy being able to go on this journey with you guys. 🩷🩷
Thanks for including us and love, love the bloopers. We all do it, that's what makes it funny... 👍👍
I love the bloopers or the sometimes funny endings with Eric dressed up to come and measure something? I believe it was in one of the slab pooring video's or shortly after. They have sense of humor that creeps in every now and then. I'm not expecting it every time but it gives a nice ending sometimes. Keep it up guys.
It’s so lovely that Bo will forever be in the garden
