From High Tunnel to Chicken Run | Working Away to Winter's Arrival

- Опубліковано 3 жов 2024
- We take our high tunnel greenhouse from our old cabin and turn it into a large covered run for the chickens this winter. The bees also get their share of attention for the cold season ahead. There is still much to do on the chicken coop but we're happy to be this far.
We appreciate you tagging along for our Alaskan adventure 😀
Thank you for watching and supporting our channel! 💙

Good thing chickens don't use the internet so they can't get jealous of the fancy home yours are having built for them. Looks great, I feel like a happy chicken owner vicariously.
There is just something about a man and his big machinery!! My husband says the huge smile is because he doesn’t have to dig it by hand!! 😂 Love the videos!!
Love how Eric builds everything so strong. "Well a 2x4 will work but lets use as 2x12". 😍
You have to with snow loads in Alaska.
I bet the chickens can't wait until you're all done with all the noise and projects around their house!
🤣🤣🤣The bees brawling --- SO GOOD
The look on Eric's face when his hoody caught fire was funny but Ariel's giggle was priceless 😄 great work as usual thank you ❤
Eric needs a welders leather apron to keep him from setting himself on fire again.
@@donnaokeefe6463 Yes, a welding apron AND a bucket of water! 💧💧
😂
Ariel can patch it. Then the sweatshirt is saved!!!
Was so funny
The new homestead is looking great!
Gosh, everything you two do is robust!!! Your homestead, your buildings, most especially your love for each other! What a joy to witness!
the fighting sound effects during the bee fight was unexpected, but top notch.
thank you for the continued great content!
I’d say that you create, rather than build. Everything is a work of art. The amount of thought you both put into taking care of your dogs, cat, chickens, and bees is wonderful. It’s nice to see Eric smiling again…😊
Sound effects during Male Bee eviction….priceless! Your chicken mansion is looking like a permanent structure….does that mean this was your last move? 😊😊😊
Thanks for the wonderful video!
That was sad and funny at the same time.
Yes! - the sound effects were great. Started laughing after my initial 15 seconds of ..."what the heck!?". 😅
I don’t think the hen house ladies liked the racket, but they’ll appreciate it this winter. I enjoy your videos and you all sharing your life with all of us.
Boys and their toys!!!! Both of you smile so much even when there are problems. The fact he gets joy out of his tractor and attachments makes the work go by better.
You could go with the clear corrugated plastic panels and run them lengthwise so they contour to the hoop. Waterproof and will let in all the light.
You never cease to amaze me. Good for you! Eric when you fell down it startled me. Glad you weren’t hurt.!
Chickens in Alaska is no easy thing, good housing is key. Love your ethics.
I do too…👍♥️
I don’t even have the right words……you guys show so much love and devotion to all of your animals and your videos show us all how amazing you both are. This chicken coop is astonishing! I’ve followed you for years now and every single video you put up is beautiful for so many reasons…..I’m so very sorry about the chickens you lost…..you put so much love into raising them from the tiny chicks…..this coop is so strong and the attention and dedication you showed…..simply incredible…..sending you all the love…..I’m so very grateful I found your channel so many years ago. Hugs and prayers to you and all the animal children! (I’m sorry about Eric’s sweatshirt too!!). Thank you for an amazing video!! ❤️💫🐶🐶🐱🐓🐣🐥💫❤️. Sorry I put under someone else’s comment!!!
Agree❤❤
Utterly fantastic!!!!!
👍🏻
Greetings from Pakistan.Sorry for loss of your chickens.High tunnel run for chickens looks awesome and safe from predators and appreciate your care for chickens specially they got sunroom also 😂.Putting a tree branches for chicken is an amazing idea.Good to see bees are also doing well.
Keep traveling, cooking, eating, fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, working, canning and smiling 😊
You guys are the best!!! I appreciate your passion...taking care of your chickens, pets, bees, fishing, foraging, hunting, preserving, etc. You are the Gold Standard for homesteading!
I'm in absolute awe of the two of you!! I just can't believe how you tackle all these massive projects without the help of other people. You work so so hard, and always strive to do the most beautiful and thorough job.., you're amazing people, and I love watching your videos ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you very much ❤😊
What a beautiful chicken run !! Ready for winter!@
Very impressed with your fabrication skills. I especially like how you take the time to plan everything out! Well done you guys!
Awesome high-tunnel-chicken-coop!!! ❤🐓🐔 Hard part of homesteading is losing animals… 💔
Better hurry…snow is coming fast this year! Keep up the outstanding homesteading and videos!
Thanks for including Eric’s burning of his hoodie. Hilarious 😆 I thought I was the only one who does that.
GOLD?! Have you two ever tried to pan for gold there? With that much gravel in the ground I'd definitely try panning a few places.
It would be so awesome if you found gold there. I really hope you do.
Thanks for everything you do video taping your lives & letting us come along for the ride!❤
You guys bring new meaning to a phrase I grew up hearing " Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without." You always find a way to reuse and repurpose everything you have around to get-er-done. Hats off to you and your tenacity.,and the common sense logic you use in everything you do love your show and always love seeing all the new adventures you take us on.
I love the chicken run and the door looks great. The process to get the bark off looked like something I’d love to try. The bees kicking out the male bees the sound effects cracked me up. Love you guys
The sound effects were perfect! 🐝
I love how you repurposed the high tunnel for the chicken run!! You are this old lady's favorite AK YT channel. Best wishes from San Antonio, Texas.
Those foxes are pretty bold. Glad you have provided a safe spot for your chickens.
I love the fact that you both take pride in keeping your homestead organized and clean.
So many places a person drives by are nothing but junkyards with stuff everywhere.
I love watching you both working hard very hard together. It is great!
Another magnificent build! ❤Thanks Arielle & Eric for keeping us a part of your adventures! 💞
Wow! Ariel you must have nerves of steel, and very confident of Eric's ability to swing that sledge hammer. I was on the edge of my seat while yall were doing that!!!
My thoughts exactly
Super love the work ethic of this couple. They put too much work on every project they made.
I think you have the best chicken house in Alaska! It’s a proper castle!
I do love foxes but the devastation they cause is epic!
We are free to love the beauty of the foxes when we have made our chickens safe!❤️
Love the upgrades on the Chicken coop and the addition of the high tunnel run for them.
Curtis Stone in BC has a homestead. He has a hoop house frame with semi clear covering and it keeps the chickens warmer and they hang out in there. Pretty cool. I'm jealous. That is a Taj mahal for chickens!
Absolutely love the new chicken run.......Best housed chickens xjx
I figured you guys would get around to putting a underpinning on the Chicken coop after putting the foam under the floors. That’ll keep the chickens 🐓 🐓 from pecking the foam board insulation. Also with the Chicken Coop & hoop chicken 🐓 Run No one can say you haven’t went to great measures to assure your chickens safety! Even to the point of building your chickens 🐓 🐓their own deck on their house !!! Now that’s loving 🥰 & caring for your livestock in a way you want them to be super comfortable. 👏🏼😁 Great job Guys 😁👍🏼
if they were people like you two. (your work ethic) the world would be a better place. is great to watch...thanks for the video
I get so excited when there is a new video! God bless you both and your fur babies! Love From grand ledge Michigan
Minnesota here and YES when I see there's a new video from Eric and Arielle, I smile from ear to ear, because I know it's going to be GREAT!
That’s going to be a very frustrated fox! Great job. Can’t wait to se the chickens enjoying their new space. Loved this video!
Why? A fox or any animal can get in to get some KFC through that they just need to hop right in.
Thank you for putting a smile on my face today😊 what a joy you guys are to watch🪶
Arielle I love your sweet roost, the rustic door, great tips on our friends the bees 🐝 and good sound effects Eric👍🏼lol
Love recommending you two!
The work you do together always amazes me, loved the bee bashing noises from Eric 😂
Eric is motivated, I love it. Again, tremendous teamwork . Love how excited he is to grow his life and property with his wife .
....let it go Barbara!😂 Men need proper encouragement to stay motivated!
Love how you are both imaginative and you take such care with your wildlife. A real treat to watch. Thank you! 😊🌈🌹♥️
Amazing work guys. It’s a pleasure to see you getting the homestead ready for winter. A fantastic husband and wife team. Thanks for including us on your adventure.
hi . everyone . i love you videos .
Those are some lucky cluckers! Love how confidently Arielle holds the posts while Eric swings a sledgehammer inches from her head!🇨🇦
Was thinking this same 5hing!
Hello! Just wanted to let you know that I love your videos and try not to miss any of them! Love your timeline of the beautiful Alaskan wilderness 😊 along with the smooth soundtrack. Been following you since you guys move to Alaska back in 2018 and wow is been 5 years since. So cheers for more videos of entertainment. Bye and God bless you.
Wow...chickens are running their best life with you guys. Thanks for taking such good care of them
How hard were you two laughing when you were editing that happy, cheerful music over Eric catching his "Arctic OVEN" sweater on fire? 😅 I love how he wore it through the rest of the build too
@fluffycat Of course Eric wore the burnt hoodie for the rest of the build. It is his favorite. Hope to see more of it.😂😂😂
I loved the sound effects when the bees were kicking out chubby guys! Too cute!
The chicken run looks great!
No more free lunch for foxes. Good job! Really impressed with that concrete sealing!
Avete fatto un pollaio ultra signorile MAGNIFICO Bravissimi Complimenti
The new homestead is looking magnificent
and fixing the chicken coop is perfect have
a great weekend and Thank You.🤠👍🐶
Maybe you should put the chicken hardware all the way over the panels. Seems easy access for predators.
Greetings from Cleveland, Ohio. I have been watching your channel for about a year now and am amazed at how knowledgeable and talented you both are. I love what you put out. Incredible work on coup, it is a palace and oasis for the chickens! Love your channel, God bless you!
Hi from Northwest Washington. I hope you two are doing amazing! My wife and I have watched every single video of yours.... Love what you two are doing. You totally rock! Stay safe up north. All the best from Mazama, Washington.
Nicely build! Tip: foxes can dig much deeper than the border you made. A good way to keep them from digging under is to put it in 20 inches deep and than put a border of those concrete tiles around (about 15 à 16 inches wide) or other hard surface they can't get through. That's what they recommend over here to protect chicken coops because they can pull away the gravel.
Love your videos....we are farmers...I have always hated darkness..we always buy white canvas...white tarps ...for tents... I love sleeping outside ..and have a white canvas tent with a small wood stove to work in during the winter...to me its to dark in the house....also losing one of your goumets you can buy a pack of replacement and goumet clamp at home depot to fix it....other green tarps and silver tarps we buy to cover equipment, hay. Wood...such..white canvas or tarps are bright and alive....would make the chicken happy when they are out..love the way you're taking care of your bee's. I would love to see more about them.. when you open them. And collect your Honey...we have bees but have a guy come to take care ..thank you for sharing your lifes adventure..I love it..may God keep you both safe and blesses
The Chicken Condominium Townhome gets a Four-Season Annexe. ✅
Condolences on the lost chickens and the 🔥downgrading of Eric's favourite sweatshirt to shop rag status. Yet another fantastic episode. 👍🏼Thanks to both of you.👏🏼
You guys are just such awesome people!! Thank you for sharing parts of your homestead life
I love the long videos! This was great. Wonderful, hard working young people. Now to old to start this I live vicariously thru you all.
Lucky chickens, you work so hard for their comfort.
That chicken run is amazing! My only worry is whether a predator like a weasle could climb the mesh and squeeze under the tarp, as the rest of the metal fencing is so big. Lights are definitely a good idea!
My favourite detail in this video were the sound effects for the drone being kicked out of the hive, that was hilarious! 😂
See you next time and thank you for taking us along for your adventures!
Yes true and fox can definitely dig under the mesh. This little pile of gravel is no match for hungry fox. I think there should still some kind of electrical fence surrounding the run. Otherwise, great work !
@@Robertkasela1993🎉
I’m confused why after digging that whole trench they didn’t line it with something to help prevent predators from digging underneath? Did they only dig the trench to put the poles down lower? I thought he said something about lining it but then they were filling it and it just looked like dirt.
That fox knows there is food and he is persistent! lol The chicken coop just keeps getting better and better. I love that you take so much care of the animals you've brought into your lives. Thank you for sharing it all.
You two always amaze me. I love your ingenuity and the way you both work so well together. ❤
Every single episode is a love letter to each other that we all get to see. It’s really beautiful. Another great one, guys.
So True!
Arielle (sp?) just blows me away with her skills. She drills, she shovels, she works concrete, she gardens, she makes various breads, she erects buildings, she cleans ptarmigans and moose, she tends bees without a suit, she's strong, she gives no quarter to difficulties! What a woman she is! And Eric might be an Operator but an operator without a highly skilled off-sider will only achieve a third what he (or they) could achieve otherwise. I think they're two peas in a pod.
Vocês são caprichosos cuida bem das 🐦 Deus abençoe vocês e suas famílias 👪 também moro no Brasil
Let's see the chickens coming into the new digs. Design is so cool.
Your chickens are very lucky to have you two looking after them.
You guys did a fantastic job on the chicken run. That thing is the Fort Knox of chicken runs! But I was hoping you were going to put clear plastic on it like a greenhouse so the chickens could have sunshine in the winter time. Then you could cover it with a tarp in the summer to give them shade.
Thanks, thank you for hour long video. Awesome work for chickens and will be soooo nice this winter. Much love to ya from Blue Ridge Mtns of North Carolina.
Great work & safety thinking for the chickens! Chickens will be able to play outside even in the winter😊
Don’t forget that they may love the porch so much that they will lay eggs.
I enjoy each episode from you a hundred times more than any TV series and cannot await your next coup! You 2 bring so much joy, fun and adventure to this world, please keep going❤😊.
You guys make such a great team. The new homestead looks great. Chickens will love their porch and run.
Y'all work so hard! What a beautiful space for them!! Well done!!
So wonderful watching you two work together. Eric you can tell your are in your element welding ,building and operating your backhoe. Best of everything ❤😊
Nice! If you still have not put the clear roof on the end, it may be more effective to move the tarp towards the door and apply the clear roofing at both ends. That way, light streams into the dark section under the tarp from both ends.
This channel keeps getting better and better over time. Fantastic editing! I love the part with the bees. Thanks for sharing. May God bless you and your family😁♥
Okay, in my next life I want to come back as one of your chickens! That is the Rolls Royce of chicken coops. Love the door. The foxes are truly beautiful, and truly disappointed. Loved seeing them. ❤ To you all. Lori from Oregon.
I want to come back first as a dog with them.
Second as a chicken.😅
The outtakes of the foxes at the end of this video are just brilliant!! As an aside, the design of the coop is something I've been looking for for so long! Not to be used for a chicken coop but a greenhouse that doesn't become hurricane food! Thanks for the idea!
So sorry for the loss of your chickens.. That fox looked like he was coming back for more. Another great teamwork video. Thank you for sharing your new journey with us.
Welcome to this part of Alaska neighbors, winters are colder but as you just got to see, the summers are pretty awesome!
You have put so much hard work into housing and protecting your egg and meat supply. I love how you repurpose supplies and make into a wonderful functional structure for your property. You guys work really hard.❤
What an AWESOME work space!!!
🐓 I love how well you both take care of the chickens & want them to have a great life. Not only them, 🐶but Bo, 🐕 Bandit, Pepper🐈⬛ & even the bees. Your chickens are going to be the envy of all the other chickens in your area with the amazing home you built for them. That darn old fox! 🦊 I guess he was just being a fox & he has to eat too. Thanks for continuing to share your journey with us. It really is like catching up with old friends with every video. 💜🤗
That looks awesome! I think it's wonderful how you care for all your animals! Great job!
Oh to be sixty years younger and have a partner like you two. My "Bucket List" is about three encyclopedias long and I'm not crossing off many things. Thank you for what you do.
It's a shame your sweatshirt got damaged but a blessing it protected you and you didn't get burned yourself. Nice job, I admire your ability to look at something and deciding how to go about it.
Great video today. Your chickens are some lucky birds. The new run is awesome. You guys work well together. Always a joy to watch. Thank you for sharing your life with us. Take care. Looking forward to the next video. ✌️🇺🇸❤️❤️
Great chicken run and house. Hope those ladies and Mr Rooster appreciate all your hard work making a safe comfy home.
I was just watching past videos and here you are with a new one.❤️
Those chickens are well loved. During winter they will really appreciate that canvas cover. Arielle you live up to your name: carer of animals and nature. Eric you’re a great hubby. Excellent teamwork. I missed the finish to the video: scrumptious dinner! Lol. 🙏 for sharing.
OMG Foxcam at the end was beautiful. What a stunning one he/she is! Sorry about the loss of those birds. That run looks great and the little "cat tree" you made from real tree for the chickens is so clever. Lucky bunch of birds!
The foxes are beautiful, and their still trying for chicken dinner! The chicken run is soooo nice. Great job you two.
It looks like you two are really putting in roots this move. Fantastic job 👍
WOW. Now that’s a high class coup./run. Blessed chickens.🎉
I love the sound effects on the bee beat down
I am jealous of the chickens and their patio.
