Concert was sold out in record time of two days (1500 seats, Gallus Hall, Cankarjev dom, Slovenia). Our kids played stunningly and set a new standard of playing and performing. This is first real film based Slavonic Dances. I watch this over and over again. There is something special in it. Perhaps the promise of Youth. Wonderful, devoted young faces and a really beutiful romantic music brought together by this wondeful maestro. I just love it. I think the excellent video recording is worthy of this wonderful piece of art! Thank you all, for causing pleasure to an ageing man! :)

@Gyumri Barta. I completely understand! Something about this conductor and these young people. I look at them and they probably don’t realize how richly they are living. I wouldn’t have either at that age! But they are just so talented, there’s just a certain chemistry here. ❤️

You should be very proud of this orchestra. A lot of work went into this. it is obvious that your conductor has a way of bringing out the best of each section and melds them together when appropriate. Very nicely done!

The classical works of Slavonic composers has always amazed me. Great work, this is one of the best performances of Dvorak's Slavonic dances I have heard yet. You all deserved that standing ovation.

I can see why this "student" performance is on par with all professional orchestras' I have ever heard. They sensed your love for them and they reciprocated it in terms of their hard practice and passionate performance! I did hear the "thickness" in the orchestra before. Now I know it was for a noble cause! You are a good man and an able conductor. Nonetheless, it is always cool to see saxophones in an orchestra!

where did the choir all of sudden appear from? at the end. this must have been recorded at the same concert where they played Die Moldau. that particular video is the most wonderful thing on the internet.
Dvorak was a master of composition and orchestration. The Slavonic Dances are an excellent introduction to his talent. One of the first composers to really grab my attention more than a a few decades ago, and it was from this batch of dances, instantly and irresistibly appealing.
Well done, the performance is perfect, the sound is top notch!
Discovered this orchestra during lockdown and just can't get enough. This version is far superior to even Simon Rattle's. The flautists deserve most praise along with their mentor Nejc Becan. I'd love to see one of their concerts but I think that's not realistic. Hope they can at least record a DVD/CD. More, more, more!

5.28AM Sunday 5th July 2020. I should be in bed, but have discovered ANOTHER Youthful orchestra that plays rousingly when needed and just often enough to keep me awake to fully enjoy the 'quiet' bits in between the rowdy. Must have something to do with the air in the countries that produce these vital orchestral performances. (check out the Youth orchestra, actually School kids, that has had Eighty One Million Likes on a performance of 'Pirates of the Caribbean' from Poland.) Liked and Subscribed. *yawn* *shiver* hey, it's Winter in Australia. or was it the performance?
Maestro Bečan's performances are giant love zests! The respect and love that weaves its way among all those on stage is truly Divine and magical. He is an amazing human being to be able to love all those young people into such musical ecstasy! Bravissssimo!
An amazing performence indeed, absoutely fabulous: the orchestra, but also the conductor, I think we will hear a lot from him. Thank god he's young, but mark my words, he's going to be a world famous conductor, if not already. Next a very big compliment to Mr. Primož Zevnik, producer and director for delivering such a high quality registration of the concert. Bravo.

Dvorak wrote these at the suggestion of his publisher, who wanted to get one over on Brahms following the success of that composer's 'Hungarian Dances'. Dvorak surely rose to the occasion!
