Since discovering and binge watching your videos this is the one character explained segment that i have been waiting for. Storm has long been one of my favorite Comic book characters. It was great getting some more info into her life and role in the Marvel universe.
Storm was leader of the GOLD TEAM not the Blue Team. You forgot to mention that Storm's (Ororo Munroe) family lineage is tied to magic on her mother's side (Grandmother) which is also tied to her African origin. Also, living in Harlem NYC, Storm's family on her father's side were inspired by their association to Civil Rights/Black Power Movements (Grandmother) in the 60's which lead Storm's parents traveling to Africa. Also, you missed significant changes and or developments during the Barry Windsor-Smith run which still exist to this day. BWS in his lead up to publishing, "Adastra in Africa" in 1999 also gave insightful background into the history of Storm and her physical changes which contradicts as well as disproved the original concept of Storm based upon Black Cat and a B-List God of Thunder. There was also mention in the 1970's that DC pursuit to develop on the Isis character from their Saturday morning children's TV Power Hour series line up with Shazam and Isis, the interest in developing an equally "exotic" character was part of the concept discussion to make Storm an elemental with Goddess-like powers and was initially was to look more cat-like than a Black Woman.
JBaby Lucus no I don't think she ever did, as it wouldn't be in her character to hurt so many innocent people (which is why she always keeps her cool and holds back her full potential
Even though Alexandra Shipp did a far better job than Halle Berry, I still think they should cast black woman with more African features to play Storm. Nothing against the two women, I just think that Hollywood could've done better. I heard Iman was one of the women they had in mind to play the part, but I heard she was pregnant at the time. There were other black actresses besides Halle Berry, Iman and Angela Bassett in the 90's. Vivica A. Fox or Beverly Johnson would have worked too.
It wasn't much of a part for Halle Berry to play, or anyone else for that matter. Those movies are 90% CGI and stunt doubles, and then 10 minutes of actors acting spread over 4 films and 15 years. You cast actors in those things for what they represent in the public mind (Halle Berry included to match the other Oscar Winners, so the producers could show these were Serious Films), and for their charm on talk shows to sell the silly things. Salesman of the Year, Hugh Jackman, God bless him, can act, but the hours he spent promoting those movies far outstrips any time he spent truly acting in them. These are not actor's vehicles.
Or an unknown actress. Usually unknown actors embody very famous characters better. Like James Bond, the actors become james bond forever and they were usually not super well known before doing the part of james bond.
It's not Halle's fault, she was miscast and Singer could care less about Storm. Storm is Tall and regal a speaks with an accent. Halle exudes none of these things. She tried to do an accent and it sucked. Angela Basset was actually the original person considered for this role. Though she is not tall, she has the other parts down. However she turned down the role due to the character being under written.
+Hereigns16 that was racist and sexist as hell...just because she is Black woman?...no no no she needs to hook up with a Latino female hero (Spider Girl Corazon its a good option) just to spice it up...you know Marvel style.

+Gadget307 Thor (the real one, not the stupid Mary Sue Thor), Beta Ray Bill, Wolverine... are they just going to keep killing my favorite characters? Dammit Marvel! DC wants to be Marvel by way of early nineties comics and Marvel wants to be DC by taking on DC's habit of killing off and generally screwing over characters...
I hope that I'm right, but I believe that Marvel and Sony have an origin movie of Storm, in production right now, slated for release in 2020. She is one of my favorite Marvel heroes, no doubt.
+ime akpan Halle wasn't meek, the script they gave her was. She was a fucking background character. people need to chill on Halle, because it isn't her fault. Halle is a strong Black woman and a great actress. Storm was just written ALL wrong
I just don't think Halle is right for the role. She just doesn't give off a commanding presence. Storm should be portrayed by a tall woman who absolutely eminates an air of power, wisdom and authority and I just don't think Halle has that. That and she doesn't much resemble Storm.
Silver Fang Well considering Storm is a comicbook character and has been drawn and colored by many different artist over the years, i don't know what people are specifically looking for. We just know she's suppose to be Black, beautiful and strong. I mean really, was Hugh Jackman 5'5, ugly looking hairy troll with a bad attitude who chain smokes cigars like comic Wolverine? Nope he was tall hunky Australian pretty boy who auditioned for the role, and now that he'll be retiring from the role in a couple of years, people are saying that he is the only person they envision portraying the character. Again it comes down to story telling and writing, and Halle didn't have much to do in the first films,so how can we accurately judge if the script didn't allow her to show enough range of emotions?
Storm is an omega level mutant www.cbr.com/wilsons-x-men-find-themselves-battling-the-burning-world/ “There are a lot of telepaths, there’s Storm - what’s interesting to me as a writer is that when you’ve got a team book with characters that have been around for so long, and some of whom, like Storm, are these Omega mutants that are super-overpowered, it’s really tough to put them in situations that are going to challenge them.”
Wally West Omega is a worldly threat and she can destroy the Earth and she can use her powers in space they are actually amped/enhanced in space because of the wider range of elemental forces and gases so yeah and she can breathe in space there is oxygen in space but not as much as Earth but she can pull as much as she needs in order for her to breathe in space.

That is what I hate about comics. Characters die, we mourn. Then they come back. But I guess it keeps the sales up. Still not over the Kitty Pride story.... she has to be an omega level mutant to pull off phasing something that big and for that long and living in space with no food water or air, but she is not. Somthing like that. a compination of bad ass moments. I think is super interesting topic. keep up the good work. love your channel

DC wants to be Marvel by way of early nineties comics and Marvel wants to be DC by taking on DC's habit of killing off and generally screwing over characters...
4:52 - that was amazing i never knew he would be become the black panther
I hope that I'm right, but I believe that Marvel and Sony have an origin movie of Storm, in production right now, slated for release in 2020. She is one of my favorite Marvel heroes, no doubt.
Love that Frank Cho cover on Black Panther vol 4 issue 18.
Very nicely done, Sir Rob
I know Storm comics may not be that popular, but I love them.
I troubles me that a meek Halle Berry is the only person that is cast for Storm in the movies.
+Silver Fang I thought Angela Bassett should have played her, if anybody. I first thought that in the 90's actually.
Mac Morris Shhiiiiiiid, the 90's? She still looks very young. Why not now.
Shout out to Storm! One of the strongest and baddest out there!
why isn't this a movie
why is she not omega level?
azusapink she is omega level
I think Omega level means a galactic threat. I'm not sure if Storm can use her powers in space.
Storm is an omega level mutant
www.cbr.com/wilsons-x-men-find-themselves-battling-the-burning-world/
“There are a lot of telepaths, there’s Storm - what’s interesting to me as a writer is that when you’ve got a team book with characters that have been around for so long, and some of whom, like Storm, are these Omega mutants that are super-overpowered, it’s really tough to put them in situations that are going to challenge them.”
Wally West Storm can user her powers in space and is actually more powerful up there. Even a sentinel identified her as omega level once.
disney needs this storm movie, its like a fairy tale. she actually a gorgeous princess,queen,goddess...she went from rags to riches! omega lvl power with sorcery. that screams DISNEY. just dont water down her powers
I came here after "Ancient sands, heed my command and reclaim these relics of hatred!"
Storm was leader of the GOLD TEAM not the Blue Team. You forgot to mention that Storm (Ororo Munroe) family lineage is tied to magic on her mother's side (Grandmother) which is tied to her African origin. Also, living in Harlem NY, Storm's family were inspired to their association to the Civil Rights/Black Power Movement in the 60's. Also, you missed significant changes and or developments during the Barry Windsor-Smith run which still exist to this day. BWS in his lead up to publishing Adastra in Africa 1999 also gave insightful background into the history of Storm and her physical changes which contradicts as well as disproved the original concept of Storm based upon Black Cat and a B-List God of Thunder.
I really wish marvel will make a movie about inn the future she is just such an amazing character with amazing powers
Some of the facts are slightly off, but I appreciate the effort.
I'm a black comic book reader and I was up set with the split up
Hey Rob can you do a vid explaining GHOST RIDER. I really like that character and i want to know more about him
Thank You Rob. I don't know if you saw that I asked for a Storm Explain if you did I believed you wasn't going to do it, But thank you so Much!
We need a new storm video. Our omega goddess.
Thank you for this!
Jus lying in bed on a rainy bed with some hot chocolate and listening to you talk about comics is about my favorite thing in life :)
Yes! Thanks Rob. You rock!
Nice one Rob!
I’ve just gotten into xmen and storm has becomes my favourite character!
You have a dull sounding voice, but I absolutely love your videos! I hope to see more of your work.
So what I wanna do here is tell you how WILDLY powerful Franklin Richards is.
That is what I hate about comics. Characters die, we mourn. Then they come back. But I guess it keeps the sales up. Still not over the Kitty Pride story.... she has to be an omega level mutant to pull off phasing something that big and for that long and living in space with no food water or air, but she is not. I'm sure there is an explanation.
"Shut up Paul this is about Storm." said everyone......
+Paul L. Rogers shut up paul this is about storm!!!
NO. You shut up! LOL! Jk have a nice day.
Just saw her as Star-Lady(?) on the Marvel comic app
A++++++++ explanation. Best that I"ve seen done on her
can you make videos with the themes like how strong is strorm, and what are her most bad ass moments?
ie: iceman froze several blocks, he can control in molecular level, hes omega lvl mutan, he han be -50 dedrees, he beat red hulk and made an army from ice soldiers.
Somthing like that. a compination of bad ass moments. I think is super interesting topic.
keep up the good work. love your channel
In the movies Storm could have used her powers soooooo many different times to get them outta different jams but I guess that they didnt want to give her too much "power" in the movies...
great video rob
The doom and gloom crowd.." LOL!! They just couldn't stand to see to Black folks happy together..
0:33 I need these comic books. 0:43 what is the title of this book? And you should put the book titles and numbers in Description
thanks for the video
A highly underutilized character in my opinion. Both the comics and the films.
Thank you
For this.
Marvel needs to give her more solo comics, they gave her so many potential and skills yet it's being wasted due to her being a side character. I would love for her to get back with black panther aND the two start a new adventure and saving the world
Sigh!!! This was SO gratifying. Thank you.
My favorite character. Storm is the goddess.
My favorite mutant
Storm led the Gold team, not the blue team. That said, great video, hope you continue to make more like it.
Marvel should have kept the marriage between storm & black panther
first my girl jean now storm, the sisters of x!
she needs her own movie... i mean hello. wolverine got like 3 or 4
Wolvie got three movies. The first one was bad, the second one was just okay but the third one was really good.
she'll be leading Marvel Flagship title Extraordinary X-men!
