    You're right Allie, I have joined the community and watched many free workshops. The Mastery Program would be of tremendous benefit if one could afford it! I've watched Dimitra and her and I share similar art temperaments Romantic/Beauty with some Raw/Earth. It wasn't till I watched her paint four styles on the one cardboard and took that temperament quiz that I found out what I was drawn to. Having said that, I will have to be content with the free workshops so graciously offered by Milan Art Institute and hopefully grow from that. Thanks for your review.

      I’m glad it was helpful! Figuring out your temperament is SO interesting, I’m glad you were able to! Figuring all that stuff out was why I enjoyed the program so much, but they do offer so much good free content as well! (I binged most of it before I started the program to see if it was a good fit for me lol.)

    Thank you for this video. I was on their waitinglist and decided not to do their program. It’s a year ago I think that Milan art started to show up on my socials and I was intrigued by their style. This year I saw different artists with this same style on artfairs and it’s very easy recognisable. To me that’s not their own voice when it’s still so familiar to Milan. Well, everybody has to decide for themselves. Good luck to you and your channel.

      Thank you so much! I know what you mean, since they are the teachers of a certain techniques and styles, I think a lot of students do end up with similar styles of their teachers, or themes to their work, at least initially. I think this can be true of a lot of art programs though. So I believe it makes it that much more important to be true to ourselves, our message, voice and continue to experiment, grow, create and treat our artistic expression as a journey. (As I am learning this myself daily!) 🤓
      The voice section and doing more deep work into my “why” and message is when I had breakthroughs in my work and really my mindset in terms of confidence, which is why I think this program is unique. ❤️

    3600 is better than the 35,000 a year art school I dropped out of. I joined the waitlist I have already learned things on their UA-cam that is helping me be a better painter. They’ve shown me things that I’ve never known about color and I’ve been painting since I was 9! I’m so stoked and can’t wait to eventually start when I get all my money together.

      That’s so exciting! And I totally agree! I had some things line up, and I was able to swing it, but that is SO much less than I paid for my college, (plus they do have payment plans, I should have mentioned that in there 😅)and they just get right to the point with all the lessons. And they keep adding things to it! For one, you get all the additional master classes for free now and they are now doing $10,000 in contests per month through their app and I keep meeting more and more people through the program so it is awesome to get feedback and share experiences along the journey! ❤️

      The most expensive art program would be most similar to art school....the one with personal critiques and one on one.

    Thank you for the insight. It was really helpful. So basically, Milan art intitute helps pave the way along your artist journey. Ultimately, it is you who decides whether you want to go down that path.

    • @AllieMacArt
      @AllieMacArt  4 місяці тому +2

      Exactly! And they do a great job of laying down foundations of drawing and painting in the beginning of the program and really encourage artists to find their way, (wherever they are starting,) and help them down that path to achieving your goals. Even as someone who had already sold work, it helped me dig much deeper and really find my voice/style. Also, the community of artists they are cultivating is a really positive one and I’ve made a lot of friends through the program. :)

    I just started painting in March. I know that this is what I want to do.
    I am considering taking the course at Milan..the money thing scares me as I am a single parent. I have been self taught.. I am in love! I pray that God will bless me to keep doing this! Thank you for this channel.

      Thank you so much! And I know exactly what you mean, it can be scary to invest in yourself especially when times are tight. (Things are tight for me too even now, so I feel for you so much!) but your “why” will carry you through whatever path you feel you are supposed to take and you can take your time learning. I push myself, sometimes too much forgetting I can allow myself time to learn and figure things out. If I can recommend the book “Steal Like an Artist” it is free on Spotify right now and is such a great resource for artists. Let me know if there’s any other questions you have and I’m happy to share any knowledge I have. (I feel the same that this is my higher calling.)❤️🫶☺️🙏

      It is, and there are definitely a lot of great of resources on UA-cam! (I plan on doing tutorials myself.) but I started out learning from the Paint Coach and Andrew Tischler to figure out oil painting. The program, like any program, is just all put together and laid out in a convenient way to save time and energy. More of what I gained was from the coaching and community figuring out the deeper things like my “why” and my “voice” those things I think would have taken me a lot longer to figure out otherwise (and wanted to speed up the process.) ☺️

    • @AllieMacArt
      @AllieMacArt  3 місяці тому +1

      They go into a lot of depth and cover a lot of avenues. It’s ultimately up to the artist which path to take, but they do a good job of getting you through actually setting up an e-commerce store, branding yourself and getting you to the point where you can contact whoever (galleries, art dealers, licensing agents, wholesalers, etc.) and they share how to get all the basics in place (artist statement, bio, CV, price list, etc.) and then they do suggest using the power of social media and the internet to take your selling into your own hands and try to sell direct to the customer (so they go over elevator speeches, packing and shipping, business cards and other marketing materials and sales strategies.) and then planning. It is thorough and makes sure you dots all you “t’s” and crosses all you “I’s”. Coming from a business and art background these were all things I was looking out for and it simplifies it in a way that it isn’t overwhelming but brings you through each step at a time broken down in each phase. I hope this helps! ☺️

      @@leontineboxem5404 they do teach taking photographs of artwork to be able to digitize (if I’m understanding correctly ) and use for products for either prints you would make yourself, or using a third party for. For example, using drop shipping like Printify and Printful to be able to produce lots of different merchandise depending on your brand and what you want to focus on selling to your audience, but if you’re talking about NFTs they don’t go over that market.

    Thank you so informative. I see a lot of young people taking the mastery program. Have you met older people that have taken this class saying their 60s and 70s?

    • @AllieMacArt
      @AllieMacArt  4 місяці тому +4

      I have! So my mentor, Brie had her students in a group chat where we all could share advice, ask for opinions, and we were all at different parts of the program and out of the 30 of us, I would say the majority were in the 50s, a few retirees, a few in their 30s/40s like me and possibly a couple in their late 20s (but that’s me speculating based on profile pictures lol.) but I’m 35 and I would definitely say I was one of the younger students in the 30 or so in that group.
      I also joined a Facebook group for people who joined around the same time I did and lots were retired, aiming for a second career and mostly women. But there is never a shortage of people to talk to about assignments, what we’re working on, asking others for critiques, advice, sharing goals and even how we were struggling in the program. I gained so much confidence just having a community of artists to talk to, I was shy sharing at first, but getting over that fear and learning to share with other students has helped me to be able to share more outside of that, and that has honestly the best part. It’s never too late ;)

    I think it took Van Gogh about 5 years to get the foundations of Art so that he felt grounded and he worked mostly 12 hours a day occasionally taking weekends . My guess for people with not as much talent it would take 10 years to get the basics right

    • @AllieMacArt
      @AllieMacArt  4 місяці тому +2

      Possibly, but I think it depends on the person and also how you’re practicing. (The whole practice makes perfect vs. practicing perfectly.) I don’t think any of us have ever “arrived” and always practicing fundamentals is beneficial at any stage. Side note, Could you imagine what Van Gogh would be able to create if he had the technology and resources we have now??

    I’m not impressed with Milan’s art work. It’s just okay. Masters Academy seems like a better deal as well as Proko. I feel like they’re capitalizing on the name Milan because it implies Italy and that whole artistic tradition.

    • @AllieMacArt

      I do think a lot of artists that go through the program end up having a similar “style” but that’s understandable since they’re the ones teaching the techniques. At the end of the program they go over a lot of different avenues to sell art in but aren’t super specific since they are leaving it up to the artists to decide which path they want to take. So it is a well rounded solid painting program to get you going for sure, but even now I am diving more into different styles and techniques than they taught, particularly learning how to palette knife paint because I love texture 😍 and something I added to the follow up video I made goes into more the emotional side of learning your voice, your why and gaining confidence which I think is so important for artists and the biggest takeaway I personally got from the program.☺️

      @@AllieMacArt I hear very often this " critique" - they all have a similar style ( reading it not only on UA-cam, but on other venues as well). In my opinion, ppl just forgetting, that ultimate goal for Milan art program is to sell ( through learning technique, of course). Therefore, it will be similarity in the color - color that sells, in compositions, in theme, in popular subject and so on. Yes, ( sorry , the " real " artists) ppl want the have art that makes them happy and matches their sofas. This concept is not for everybody. It perfectly works for me. I will never be able to afford their program, so, just taking classes, and watching all videos they produced. However, the price they offering ( in my opinion) is matching the values,.

      I could see how that could come across… I do believe if you stick to their tutorial type videos though they share valuable insights on the techniques of drawing and painting. Especially in the program, it is very informative and to the point (vs them promoting their product through their free content UA-cam/IG) but they do give away a lot of teachings for free which I think is helpful to see if they are the right teachers for you. Learning from who you feel the most comfortable is extremely important. I personally related to Elli being a mom of 4 kids and needed the “pushing” that she kind of offers as an instructor.😅 What is the most important thing you are looking for in an online art program? (The voice section was the part I was most interested in and what I found unique about their program and help me figure out a lot of what I was looking for.)

      Yep, I bought it for the discounted upfront cost of $2040, December 2023. Monthly would have made it $2400 at the time if I remember correctly… They do include monthly group coaching now in the base price, which I think the coaching/mentorship is important if you’re going to do an online program like this which I think is why they restructured it this way too.

      @@sharonalicea7998 how cool! I love drawing/painting horses 🤗 and thank you so so much! ☺️
      I think I will do an acrylic painting basics tutorial soon, but it mostly has to do with how the different mediums work with it, that’s what their content really doesn’t get into. They mention using acrylic inks and high flows for expressiveness in the beginning, heavy gloss gel to seal drawings and they use water or glazing liquid to thin out the paint, but the other mediums you can use with acrylics can take them very far by changing the viscosity, and there’s probably 5 levels, so you can create a lot of depth just with acrylics and I think because they really prefer oil paint, it doesn’t get quite enough attention. But it is a condensed program so that kind of stuff I guess they leave to the student to explore and experiment with. Hope you enjoy their class! Let me know which one you did and how you liked it! (I think I’ve probably done 95% of them lol.😂)
