    If you do decide to pick up any Speediance product, it helps supports me if you purchase from this link shrsl.com/4b1mw I'm calling this "best" resistance training fitness gift (or purchase) of 2023 because no matter the level of fitness or individual interests / goals, this product will likely offer some unique features not found in other equipment. You for sure can argue certain products are better for specific goals/needs, but as for a broad reach, these are hard to beat. I could have made this WAY longer and also didn't want to repeat too much of my first review. I get into the potential cons in that video. Feel free to ask me any questions below and I'd be happy to answer them.

    Granted I have never used one of these before, but it seems for the cost of this machine, with the weight included seems like a great price. But I guess I’m stuck in 1990, the fact that it’s a real expensive computer would make me say no, simply because computers fail. Other then that, can’t say anything negative about it, honestly it looks dope. Your whole garage set up is like a fully functional private gym now. So cool bro. God bless bro.

      I'm right there as that's the BIGGEST concern with any of these machines is the overall longevity. I got into that on my first review and was going to mention that again, but didn't for the sake of time. I can see these e-gyms being like you said "computers" or new video game systems, where you'll upgrade them on the next model.

    • @adamc9147
      @adamc9147 8 місяців тому +1

      SO TRUE!!! I guess I'm stuck with you in the 90's. I completely agree with the longevity being a major issue with not only this machine but in smart gyms overall. I bought my squat rack / lat cable machine. I want to say 15 years ago? It has never broken down on me. Not to mention if you have a power outage like I do how will this machine work? Probably not, I know my cage is bulky and that was the biggest "issue" but I just don't think any of these smart gyms are going to last 10 years. I hope I am wrong but only time will tell I guess plus I'm pretty sure they will do a subscription at some point so that's another cost in the lifetime of having it.

    Things that I don't like about it. It uses electricity.. so if there should be an accident with the electric-network or a power-outage etc. etc. You can't workout using the machine>
    Also, the platform could have been a bit bigger and have more attachment points for the cable at the bottom. But overall it's a cool machine for sure.

    I had a Bowflex for the past 15 years but since lost interest because of all the work to change weights and thread the wires for different exercies. Then I got the Speediance 2 weeks before Christmas 2023, absolutely loving it so far. Don't have to waste time & effort to change this and that.

    I was gonna say, I didn't think this was gonna he effective until Alexander Bromley did a review on it (he really liked the eccentric overload features and accomdating resistance). had mine there weeks and love it!. Total Gym served me well, but I actually had to downsize my workout space (grown kid moved home :( , Making even the TG tight for me. This has been a blast to use, and I feel like I am actually making better gains with this. if your tight on space and have the $$ I can't recommend it enough so far... ya long term is always a concern, but we will see. However, I feel like it's really well built to last a long time for whatever its worth. Whatever you do . just move and lift things up and put them down.

    I follow your channel for the TG stuff. I have a Total GYM Fit Plus that I am loving with an extra 50lbs per side added. I also have a pull down machine with the low cable and adjustable dumbbells/bench and alot of resistance cables with all the handles and adapters I can use. + My Peloton bike...lol. I love variety every time I work out and I now have my eyes set on this Speediance GYM PAL to broaden my palette. Any thoughts on that machine? I want a really good straight bar press movement and need to be able to do Shrugs on it. These are just a few I see that I will enjoy on this. Can I even do Shrugs on this? Can I do Chest Flyes as well? thanks. If I can get those in, I think I am going to try this thing.

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  6 місяців тому

      The GYM PAL is a solid machine from what I hear, so I think it would definitely will be a great addition, especially for the those movements like the squat, deadlift, and those chest exercises you mentioned to compliment the Total Gym. But yes, you can do shrugs and flys no problem. Shameless plug forgive me, but if you ever do decide to get one, the link in this video description helps support the channel.

    More great stuff. Thanks. QUESTION! Can you do full super slow repsz like a 10/10 second cadence on it?

    won't register at such show speeds.

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  8 місяців тому +2

      I'm always thinking about you guys (I'm pretty sure you're into the slow HIT stuff) when I'm on this thing because yes, you can can go slow and that where I feel this machine really shines. Naturally, I feel more connected when I'm using this thing with a slow tempo for sure. A downside I find is that on the spotter modes (there's two), if you go too slow it or pause too long, it likes to kick in and drop the weight. So that makes me not use, so it's a little scary relying on the ring to switch it off at failure.

    Imagine if Speediance could make attachment bar pulley extensions that attach to the uprights. That would allow full lat pull downs, and more, possible with this gym. The gym would become awesome! Maybe a 3rd party fabricator could make some, shouldn’t be too difficult????

    I'm torn...I want to like it...having a cable crossover option looks awesome but technology scares me, especially at that price...the great thing about plates/d'bells is they dont break....w/ the TG, really a cable/glide board is all u hav to worry about...I wish I could get ther but, sadly, not for me. I'll say this(and I dont mean to start a whole debate/discussion)....I'd pay that inflated price for that machine before I paid for the X3, just sayin. Good stuff!👍🏋️‍♂️

    I've now watched about a dozen Tonal and Speediance reviews and am fairly decided on the Speediance. I ran a cost analysis, with the current promotions running for both companies, Tonal + Accessories vs Speediance Family Plus Max, and the TCO by year 3 is $6,650 for Tonal and $3,299 for Speediance. The Tonal membership at $720/yr is killing them in the Cons column. I do have a question from one big guy to another, how tall are you? I was concerned that the height of the cables was too low and the width to narrow for a big dude. Care to share your thoughts?

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  8 місяців тому +1

      That's a solid analysis. I'm 6ft. I can see that if you're taller, this would be a potential con. I am more partial to narrow cable set up though in general.

    • @JLSchaffer
      @JLSchaffer 8 місяців тому

      @@hybridresistance I slept on it over the weekend, and now the sale is off. After researching further, I discovered that this is a Chinese company with no phone number and no US address. This has burned me in the past, and combined with the fact that Tonal is suing the pants off of this Chinese company for patent infringement and some marketing shenanigans, I'm going to be holding off for now.

  • @Mr2004MCSS

    It looks pretty nice but my main concern would be long term durability. If something does break, how expensive is it to fix and will the company even be in business in the future.

      That's my main concern as well.

    • @Dweedoo
      @Dweedoo 8 місяців тому +1

      Well, if you're a bit tech savvy, that thing is repairable, hackable and modifiable by you. I didn't yet figure out how to add weight to it but I'm sure as more people will get it, someone will figure it out. As far as available in the future, while Tonal is in decline, Speediance has seen growth, even if it's far from a multi billion dollar company yet. U.S market is not their only one, so while we are in uncertain times and that's always something to consider, I don't think it warrants all the worries it gets. But then again, I'm not an economy expert.

    • @gerrya2133
      @gerrya2133 8 місяців тому

      That is also my concern, but at least it's still functional if the company goes under and it doesn't need repairs (unlike the Tonal which I hear is useless without the subscription.)
      On the other hand, as long as it continues to work for four to five years even if the company goes under, that could be the same as having a gym membership for all that time.
      I don't have the space to have anything larger where I rent. So that's the gamble in my head. Will it last long enough to equal or surpass having a gym membership.
      For people who have a home and space to have a fully loaded home gym, I can see them having a different equation.

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  8 місяців тому

      @@gerrya2133 I personally never would compare something to a gym membership (that will always be cheaper and provide more stuff), but more could this or any machine save you time and make your home fitness a viable long term option.

    • @gerrya2133
      @gerrya2133 8 місяців тому

      @@hybridresistance Oh for sure, the gym has the whole package. But I feel like it's along the lines of comparing the movie watching experience in a theater with a good crowd vs somewhere along the lines of waiting for streaming at home to reading the novelization of the movie. In the end there's a choice as to how to spend the time and money on that piece of entertainment.
      But of course, I'm also closer to the gym's ideal member business wise. Go consistently for a few months, and then get busy, do a lot of overtime, or fall off the routine for whatever reason for a few months but still keep paying. Repeat. And I never took full advantage of what the gym has to offer. I have no doubts that most of your audience is more disciplined and better at using the gym's full offering than I am.
      After I moved all my routines got disrupted, and I'm feeling pretty good about the Speediance filling in a big hole that I was missing.

      I totally hear you, I wanted to spend more time on that. I basically go at a slower tempo on this and will superset/compound set. There's something about this magnetic resistance that when you use this machine for those lifts (at least for me), I really don't have any need for maxing it out. I think I only maxed it out my first day just messing with it. If you're serious about powerlifting / pure strength training you're gonna want some plates and a barbell, but that's with anything. If you do have those things and then you add this into the mix, it's another level with things such as heavy eccentrics.
