  • @Tiger1016.
    @Tiger1016. Рік тому +1

    Fun to see you scratch that for a LP that you had mentioned! I'll offer one perspective to try to help with decoding between the two and it's all about the pickups. The Fishman Classic Voice 2 in the bridge is supposed to be a close descendent of the SD JB but with more clarity and cleaning up the low end. The Holy Diver is also a JB derivative that you could say makes very similar tweaks but with its own bit of secret sauce, so it would make for a great option on another comparison video if you wind up keeping the Fluences.
    I have been curious about this A/B myself. I have been going through BKP roulette on my new axe starting with the Tru Grit, then Silo, then Holy Diver. The HD gets me pretty dang close to what I am looking for in the bridge, but I want a bit less compression and more articulation with still a big mid push and a little extra low end for my brighter guitar would be nice. The TG could have used more mids and bass for my taste, and the Silo was surprisingly bloated and lacking articulation, which is actually consistent with what I thought about it in your comparison video. I just ordered a Polymath bridge but keep looking at the set of Fluence Classics that I have never installed yet to try out while I wait for the delivery. The different voices in the Fishmans seems like a great option, but being able to do push pulls for parallel and partial coil taps or a spin-a-split on a passive HB that has enough output to spare is arguably just as versatile.

    • @gabriel_guitar
      @gabriel_guitar  Рік тому +1

      Ha, cheers man, have been on the hunt for a nice LP Style guitar no doubt and both of these are excellent, kinda struggling to decide on which one to keep. Awesome tip regarding a comparison of the Fluence Classic voice 2 with the Holydiver, I can hear the similarities no doubt, If I end up doing a comparison I might throw in the Mules for the voice 1 comparison considering they're both PAF voiced pickups.
      I'm very impressed with the Fishman Open Core Classics all voicings are extremely usable, much more to my liking than the fluence moderns tbh. Yeah, I still haven't bonded with the Silo as much as I thought I would, for my money I think the HD is the way to go. Awesome that you end up getting the Polymath, it's probably the one pickup I'm looking to try the most.

    • @Tiger1016.
      @Tiger1016. Рік тому

      @Gabriel Moreira Yeah I thought about throwing in the Mule into that comparison after I wrote my response. So great minds think alike haha.
      It's tough to tell which guitar is the better platform with the pickups taken out of the equation. As is, the Schecter seems to be behind on the attack and a little brittle in the high end in comparison. Don't know the specs of its pickups, but if it has an Alnico IV magnet, then that would explain it. You have plenty of pickup options, so that naturally will not drive your decision. But don't let looks weigh in too much over tone. I've made that mistake a few too many times over chasing tone and playability first.
      If you wind up keeping the Schecter but want to still give the Fluences a spin, the Mcrocklin set could be an interesting alternative to consider. They are the same as the Classic set but with a tweaked voice 3 that is supposed to have a more modern twist, but we don't really know what that means.

    • @gabriel_guitar
      @gabriel_guitar  Рік тому

      @@Tiger1016. I'm keeping the LTD for now mate, as much as I like the Schecter which has a lot of great things about it (looks, quality of construction, and it's very resonant with a very immediate attack to the notes), I'm just not too crazy about the insanely big frets on it and the pickups are a bit of an acquired taste, they're cool but not totally my thing either, a bit harsh on the upper mids, I'm also not a massive fan of the ernie ball compensate nut - I know I could fix all these things without much effort or monmey invested, but the LTD just plays brilliantly and it already has great pickups.
      Good shout on the Mcrocklin set, he's got amazing tone - in particular like the split tones he gets on his kiesels, very modern and cutting, love that.

      They all do, even Gibsons. I've wanted a black LP with gold hardware for YEARS and I've always held off because it fades so bad, so quickly.

    How were the neck profiles on each one?

    • @gabriel_guitar
      @gabriel_guitar  11 місяців тому +1

      They're both very comfortable and effortless to play, but I'd say the schecter is slightly narrower at the bridge and as a result the strings feel closer together (great for folks with smaller hands). The LTD neck feels flatter at the back and a bit wider.

    For me most schecter guitars have pretty bad (short) delay of high notes at solo, but pretty good riffs

    I how is the neck feeling compare to this two guitars.

    • @gabriel_guitar
      @gabriel_guitar  Рік тому +1

      Hi Marc, the neck on the Schecter is narrower and the strings feel closer together, in terms of thickness they feel similar and are extremely comfortable to play, when it comes to upper fret access I'd give a slight edge to the LTD.

    if they were not "weight relieved" i would buy them but they don't want to make them the old way. too damn light. it sucks.

      Yeah mate, I’d have preferred if they weren’t weight relieved too, not sure the Schecter is weight relieved but the LTD certainly is
