This is the greatest video on the rebuild of the small Chevy ever. I bought this VHS tape years ago and put a small tube TV out I my garage. I followed the video step by step and built a damn good engine for myself. Thanks for posting it.
Lot of times it is cheaper to install a reman engine than rebuilding. My father's shop,a Jasper reman engine is installed a lot.Problem with rebuilding is the vehicle sits for a couple weeks. The Reman takes a couple days with a 3 year warranty.
the problem with jasper "rebuilds" are often they aren't actually "rebuilt" but more often they are just "freshened up" and given a spray can rebuild. realistically a good gm crate engine is a far better option with peace of mind and a 3 year warranty

Thanks for posting this. These old time mechanics really knew their stuff!
Clear and precise!!
I'm only a shade tree mechanic and does not have a hoist. I am breaking my engine down piece by piece from the top.
is this guy still around? is so where is his shop?

Sadly mechanics today don't get to rebuild much for exactly the reason you gave here. It's cheaper to buy a new engine!
