Want to eat good and cheap food? Arround 12:00 to 13:00, stay at the door of some bank or office building, see the employees coming out for lunch and just follow them. Eating lunch for under 10€ is not only possible, but very common.
If you come to Portugal, here is what I recommend (being Portuguese): - Francesinha (but go to the right places, somewhere it is done well) - Bacalhau com natas (you will not regret it) - Cozido à portuguesa (this dish makes me proud of my nation literally) - Amêijoas (clam) à bulhão pato (or rojões, Pork meat if I am not mistaken) - something with “assado” in the name - Polvo (octopus) à lagareiro (but make sure it comes with “batatas à murro” with a bunch of sea salt) - Bifinhos com cogumelos For dessert/Portuguese sweets, pastel de nata and jesuítas are the one I recommend. If you want to eat cheap, go near college campi. In Braga, for example, there are so many fantastic Portuguese cuisine near University of Minho, fantastic and cheap because college students are broke 🤣 also try our sangrias, we know what we are doing in our alcohol. ;) If you ever come to Braga, I recommend these places: Forno Mágico and Restaurante “As Manas” for Portuguese authentic cuisine, and Restaurante Sabor da Fruta and Restaurante Tasquinha Bracarense for cheap but generous Portuguese meal at a college student budget.
The fish here is different. No special seasoning. Just salt and lemon on the grill. A bite of garlic just because of the vampires 😂 and you are ready to go. I recommend dourada grelhada. A glass oh white wine and a coffee( expresso of course, that's the only way to drink coffee) at the end.... Can't miss it
Cause of Corona my whole trip got delayed. I arrived in Lisbon on thr 16th of August. Even though Covid and Lockdown diminish the whole experience a little bit, I still enjoy the city a lot!
Awesome video of my favorite city and country. Good job Tal, Jay and I went there a couple of years ago and we had a great time. Looking forward to your Tuk Tuk vids Bruh.
Portugal is known for the pastries, but thats only the beginning.... we have the best fish and seafood, great meats, wines including our famous Port wine, cheeses, desserts, the list goes on..... ❤🇵🇹💚
nice video! This might be a surprise to many people but did you know here in the UK we also have traditional custard tarts. They're the same but different.. I think it's a western European cultural thing. However British custard tarts are made with shortcrust pastry rather than Filo/puff pastry, contain sprinkles of nutmeg rather than cinnamon and are more processed. I prefer the Portuguese pastei de nata by a million miles.
Hi John Barr he missed a lot of good and cheap typical portuguese food if you come to Lisbon let me know i guide you for the best portuguese Lisbon is my hometown
Thank you for sharing your hostel at Lisbon...going with my mom in a guide tour in Portugal and it’s crazy expansif, I wanted to show my mom good hostels for better prices. Any way going in juin with my mom, but but will return with my boyfriend for cheaper...and mostly used the same hostel as you guys! Thanks, greeting from Québec , Canada.
Hey hello, didn't see any typical portuguese dish (and not expensive) on the video ... and there are plenty of traditional dishes that are not codfish... next time, look for Alheira de Mirandela , Francesinha , Feijoada Transmontana, Cozido à portuguesa, Caldeirada de peixe, Amêijoas à Bulhão, Arroz de Pato, Polvo à Lagareiro, Leitão da Bairrada, Sopa da Pedra, Migas à Alentejana, Carne de Porco à Alentejana to name a few, they are served in many restaurants at 7 / 8 euros with drink and coffee, gastronomy marvels at cheap prices
I beg to differ, there are many cheap restaurants in Lisbon but you have to look in the right places. A Nova Pombalina is a hidden gem: wonderful traditional 'tasca' with the best sandwiches in the city. The secret Chinese restaurant at Mouraria is another great one.
Amazing video! Congrats from a portuguese! Our Pasteis de Belem and Bolinhos de Bacalhau are really amazing and the best traditional food you can buy in Portugal! There are differente typical food and sweets in many parts of the country, but I think that's pretty much the top 2! Our pasteis de belem are more of a desert or a snack which you eat in the middle of the morning, and perfect with an expresso! With the cinnamon and the sour of the coffe... Perfect! Pastéis de bacalhau are more of an appetizer, before the meal. But we also eat it as a snack in the middle of the day, if we have to XD
Pastéis de Belém and Pastéis de Nata are not the same thing. The first ones have a secret recipe for the custard and are trademarked. Other people wanted to make them too but since they didn't know the recipe and they couldn't use the same name, they invented a similar pastry. You can get Pastéis de Nata everywhere but you can only get Pastéis de Belém in the original pastry shop. : ) Also, the "prato do dia" (dish of the day) is not a mini portion or a half portion, in some places (like the one where you ate) it's a full size portion, sometimes more than enough for two persons. ; )
I posted a comment but I don't see it I must've hit the wrong key! Food looks delicious, you guys look great all dressed up... and no fair Jay gets to travel with you guys everywhere! I want to be Jaycation!
I love the way you share Thank you so much for that You said you were from israel? And you don’t eat pork I’m Jewish and I’m very curious about that Peace and love brother and keep it up
Portuguese food is underrated. The reason is that we eat simple but tasty food. Food tend to get higher ratings the more complex and poshy it becomes. That's why you don't hear much about Portuguese food.
Hii I’m a vegetarian could you please make another video on Veg Section, loved your video and Presentation BTW🥰 and just curious,Are you Indian\South Asian ?
We have the same street food here , I always wondered from where this food came from , seems like it’s from Portuguese , I think you can find fish rolls , cutlats , pastry’s in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰

Regarding the beans and bacalhau, he says the first thing he tastes is "FRESH".
The beans are canned, the bacalhau is dry-aged.
Those egg/custard tarts look amazing 😍 I heard Portugal is gorgeous and it cereal you looks it. Thanks for the tips and good foods to eat
It is indeed!
I am about to work in lisbon for 6 months and i was scared, cause i am not a huge fish fan, but these meaty plates at the end, made me smile

So, if the pastry is dry it's because u are in need of a mini, a small Portuguese beer. Only 20cc but the exact amount to push down the pastrys
