Gotta be the best racing vid on you tube. Had everything. Great footage, great track, great riding. Bad luck with the end result. Keep up the good work Marcel
Wow. Awesome! Sucks crashing out on a top 10 AMA finish...on your debut. Happens to the best. Thank God you're ok. I hope you continue to document your progression...you are definitely an inspiration and you have lots of fans...even though you're Canadian!...lol..much love bro..keep doing it. Looking super professional...your sponsors should be proud. You're a humble dude too....I'm Def a fan.....
I just found this while looking for Motorbike Laguna seca lap times and am very impressed. Your comentary is very enjoyable and the inside is great for me as a rider without track experiance. Keep it up!
Best video yet!!!!! I really think this is your best ride and video yet. I appreciated your commentary, thought process with tire choice, breaking, acceleration and fatigue really talking me through the race. Super job!
Much love and speedy recovery Marcel! Good luck! Excellent video. Loved every bit of info you gave (technique advice, tires, sprockets, gear choices, etc.) great video. Great stuff.
Dam man glad you are alright, that was a nasty hit to the head. Thanks for keeping up with the videos im learning a ton from you and I know it takes a ton of time to edit videos.
Ur fucking awsome man and u have no tc at a very technical track. I hate u spun out but it happens to the best man keep it up and the comentary was nice.
"Only 4 more laps to go. I just gotta hang on!" ..... BAM !!! :) .. Sorry you crashed but I'm glad you are ok. I've crashed too many times to admit to. :) Looks like maybe a 30% gas to 80% lean rear traction loss highside in that lefty. I know that cost you some $. Superbikes are big and heavy and fast! Thanks for the cam view...shows what the racer is seeing...a lot of leaning and things going by you very quickly.
Not to be argumentative, but the rider does not see the lean angles that way, the rider is usually keeping their head level. But it is cool to see the on board views.
Marcel Irnie I think you did brilliantly....You can only get better. How ya doing so far. When is your next race and do you plan to keep publishing on the Tube?
MrTinyUK We're in the offseason now, but everyday the Mikanik and I prepare for 2015 where we will challenge the new MotoAmerica championship. If anyone can help with finding sponsors, please do. Yes, I will continue to film as much as possible. I might even start a second channel to vblog more. Make sure to follow my Facebook pages www.fb.com/superbikeracer, www.fb.com/wbmotors, and www.fb.com/gofastrr
Marcel Irnie Yea, Sponsorship is the hardest thing....As I am in the UK don't think I'd be able to help. Don't have facebook. Too old to start now...I shall subscribe to your channel and look forward to more videos....WHEN you become big and famous, don't forget to keep filming your races. Take care my friend and remember to keep the black stuff, facing down. ;-)
For your début I'd say that was a fantastic start. Your lap times were fairly consistent and your overall pace was good. The tyres seemed to be dropping off quickly at the end. Maybe the compound wasn't quite right for Laguna.
A man with big balls. Great editing it's like a pro except in my opinion Maybe the music is bit too loud In the background I personally prefer Good sound of engine
Wow this was so great to watch and listen to your breakdown. Thanks so much for taking the time to share this. I am curious why you would run without traction control? Is it because the stock traction control on the S1000RR is too restrictive on the track?
yes, the "OEM ECU" traction control is very limiting, slowing me down. On my 2016 BMW S1000RR's I have the "BMW Race ECU" which opens manual control for the traction control, among other things.
Wow...ya glad your ok bra...hell of a way to make a liv'in....or what ever..it is your do'in other than mak'in a wild ride vid!! will be looking for the next one!!..grab a PK for me too!!
Hey Marcel, Could you please make the voice commentary stereo as opposed to mono through the left side only? It's really annoying when you're using sound isolation headphones.
Cool vid bro, I think your gearing is a wee bit off though, if corrected it would be good for a few tenths at least, there's a few locations where you are kind of coasting the rpm before getting on the brakes and from the sound of it, your getting beyond the powerband or preferred rpm , just an observation. Good luck.
Great riding and commentary Irnie! But is that lean angle meter in the middle of the screen accurate? Because the landscape appears to be tilting a lot more than the indicated angle.
To me, it seem you were under powered and tried to compensate with the corners. I noticed you kept up with the group in corners, but coming out and up they took off. I guess you felt cutting the TC off would give you a better edge. Perhaps a med compound, but I know you love that soft rear. What compound do you use for front ? And Damn good job for a stock bike. I'm impressed. I also saw you run in person at Barber GNF. Good job man.
Thanks... yeah those Factory bikes are quick! They run serious traction control systems that cost more then my bike. I could have also used some lightweight wheels, which help everywhere. Next time!
wow amazing. It did seem like the rear needed to be setup better. I notice it stepped out pretty violently a few times and seemed to shake a lot. Not an expert just what i noticed :p
Good race man beating your q time by almost a second is no small feat. Why dont you use a bazzaz tc? Its cheap reliable and efficient. Next time youll be in the 1:27 for sure ;)
Question about trail breaking, it looks like you are at about 80% brake when you are about 60% leaned over or more, is that sensor accurate because it feels like if that were accurate you would have tucked the front a lot? Please respond to this!
John Smith I'm not getting any input from the bike. It is all based on G-force. It would be great to have a brake sensor, and have the data from the bike ECM collected.
Oh, I agree, I thought you had that information pulled out from the ECU too because I saw braking and throttle percentage in the video telemetry. Have you tried the AIM Solo DL? It hooks into the CAN Bus and has built in GPS. It doesn't have braking percentage though.
The stock TC and Anti wheelie control that the Bmw comes with is probably too intrusive as it wasn't designed for racing. I'd imagine systems that will work well in top level racing are very expensive and require lots of computing. Pro teams have guys who's sole job is to make those electronics work.
andrewrogers OEM Traction Control is useless for racing at the Pro Level. It is too intrusive, and has a "on/off" effect. It needs to be more progressive.
Still think BMW should just sponsor you cant stand that a awesome rider like you. Cant get. everything out of himself caus you are a freakimg amezing rider
+Marcel Irnie (Irnieracing) not following, at the corkscrew you commented the other riders had factory bikes w traction controls, launch control, etc., and you didn't. Did u remove from ur stock s1000rr?
There's a big difference between a quality race tc and what comes stock on bikes. If the other bikes are using tc, it's probably a magneti marelli or similar. Edit: I literally just heard him say they're on magneti marelli as I hit reply lol. So yeah, *much* better than what comes stock, which can slow you down at race pace, so it's usually just turned off.
Marcel you've made me a fan. Love all the footage and information you put into each video. Thanks.
I like all the info, commentary, telemetry etc. excellent riding and great upload! wish you all the best for 2015..
awesome.. Thanks for the comment.
This vid is really well put together. Extremely impressive !!
Riding at that level is just brutal.. way to go on this overall production.
Gotta be the best racing vid on you tube. Had everything. Great footage, great track, great riding. Bad luck with the end result. Keep up the good work Marcel
im just getting pumped up watching my favorite racer race before i go shred my S1KRR
Such a good video, I think I have watched it about 4 times now. Keep up the hard work, see you at Laguna!!

Great video Marcel. You are a better rider today in 2017 than 2014. I can tell you have improved, and so has the bike :-)
Much love and speedy recovery Marcel! Good luck! Excellent video. Loved every bit of info you gave (technique advice, tires, sprockets, gear choices, etc.) great video. Great stuff.
Man I love the camera view you have. watching you fly through the corkscrew like that is awesome.
Man I wish you the very best! Love your attitude I am a big fan.
Great video. You have really great footage of your races. Please keep up the great work. Sorry about the crash. Cheers from Colorado.
Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed the commentary. Great riding. I have no idea how you guys keep composure just after you almost lose it.
Great video. And I love the mighty mighty boss tones!
Man! I see your 1:28s and the motogps 1:22s and I'm still amazed how you ride fast!
Congrats man!
Loove these vids. Keep it up Marcel!
Good job Marcel. I am huge fan! Love watching your videos and commentary. Keep up a good work.
I appreciate every tip you give us!!!
Great life bro. Great attitude. May the riding angels be with you.
Awesome job man!! Keep up the good work.
Bummer man!!! Never the less, awesome riding!!! Heal fast & win the next few races at WERA!!!
I really enjoyed the videos keep them coming
hard luck mate! Great job all the same, love your vids
This is a great video ,thank you 👌👌💪💪
Thanks man, good stuff.
Dam man glad you are alright, that was a nasty hit to the head. Thanks for keeping up with the videos im learning a ton from you and I know it takes a ton of time to edit videos.
get well soon, Marcel. Greetings from Germany
Darn Marcel, hope for a speedy recovery.

Keep at it my man!!!!! Looking good
Great perspective. First time out? Brilliant job. Keep at my friend....Power to 'ya elbow. Thanks for sharing...;-)
yeah, first time at the track, and they only gave us one practice session before qualifying.. Was a daunting task to learn the track quickly!
Marcel Irnie I think you did brilliantly....You can only get better. How ya doing so far. When is your next race and do you plan to keep publishing on the Tube?

glad you're ok. nice ride
very nicely executed
I know it didn't end quite the way you wanted but you were doing well , good luck with racing in the future.
For your début I'd say that was a fantastic start. Your lap times were fairly consistent and your overall pace was good.
The tyres seemed to be dropping off quickly at the end. Maybe the compound wasn't quite right for Laguna.
cant wait to see this on the 65'
how'd it turn out. I'm still learning how to best render, and i'm about to try 60fps for my next race from GNF - Barber.
A man with big balls. Great editing it's like a pro except in my opinion Maybe the music is bit too loud In the background I personally prefer Good sound of engine
Man you did awesome as a private rider if you look back you was running Mat Maladin times
great video! the crash really shocked me though :/
Thats what im talking about Marcel
Pretty Amazing
you looked so fast through the cork screw,I was like,Damm! could not imagine how fast you would have been with lighter weels, and better TC.
Wow this was so great to watch and listen to your breakdown. Thanks so much for taking the time to share this. I am curious why you would run without traction control? Is it because the stock traction control on the S1000RR is too restrictive on the track?

Great video. Could you mount camera on the chest, or it is not allowed ?
hey man great video, what program is this filming on tracking your angle and speed etc....
what a pity, such an awesome race
Hey Marcel, Could you please make the voice commentary stereo as opposed to mono through the left side only? It's really annoying when you're using sound isolation headphones.

Can't wait to see you on a factory setup..
nice job
Great riding and commentary Irnie! But is that lean angle meter in the middle of the screen accurate? Because the landscape appears to be tilting a lot more than the indicated angle.
Rohit Koli yeah, the lean angle sensor failed.
Marcel Irnie That's probably bcoz of the lateral acceleration. Accelerometers only work properly when stationary.
Could you try to fix the post commentary audio? It's only coming out of the left speaker.
Altho he did say most other people had a better traction control and 15BHP + to his bike :) may explain why he was keeping up on his on corners.
You have any plans to get some TC or what?
I whish to have life and money and time to do that life i think the world is only for ho have money sory my english and i love your videos
Would you recommend the OEM electronics for street use?
i think you had the only s1000rr on the earth without electronics :)
Irnieracing WBM why don't you take an hp4? it's a pity to have such disadvantages..
@@germanomosconi88 Real Racing never puts one at disadvantage, its the digital babies who go WITHOUT real skillz once the toys are removed... k?
wow amazing. It did seem like the rear needed to be setup better. I notice it stepped out pretty violently a few times and seemed to shake a lot. Not an expert just what i noticed :p
Glad ya enjoyed the onboard. Cheers
I should have watched this before I did two days at Laguna. I think you told me to. I would have gone much faster.
Good race man beating your q time by almost a second is no small feat. Why dont you use a bazzaz tc? Its cheap reliable and efficient. Next time youll be in the 1:27 for sure ;)
I have never seen anyone successfully use the Bazzazz TC in pro racing back in 2014.
Turn 2 nice!!!
Take good care.
Question about trail breaking, it looks like you are at about 80% brake when you are about 60% leaned over or more, is that sensor accurate because it feels like if that were accurate you would have tucked the front a lot? Please respond to this!
zRouth the sensor is not accurate. It is based from G-force with the lap timer. There are no actual brake pressure switch sensors.
thats what i thought, thanks so much.
What whas that last song??? Sorry for the third comment!!
Does anyone know what kind of cameras hes using and what kind of software for the live speed, lean angle ect??
I do. The Drift Ghost or Ghost S, and my GPS Lap timer Speedangle.com collects the data, which I overlay to video with dashware.net
What's the name of the music that starts at 0:25 ?
Lots of comments so i don't know if anyone has asked before, what datalogger/telemetry are you using?
Speedangle data recorder. The lean angle sensor was faulty and replaced later.
Marcel Irnie I don't see information about how the data logger gets the braking, throttle and engine rpm. How are you getting it? Thanks!
Beautiful lady taking tire warmer off at beginning.
Did you use the GP shifting in this race?
I always set my racebikes to GP Shift pattern. Street bikes too if possible.
Probably a stupid question but why didn't you have traction and wheelie control ?
The stock TC and Anti wheelie control that the Bmw comes with is probably too intrusive as it wasn't designed for racing. I'd imagine systems that will work well in top level racing are very expensive and require lots of computing. Pro teams have guys who's sole job is to make those electronics work.
Its not a stupid question, i was wondering the same thing, S1000RR comes with a stock TCS.
Just to add I wasn't trying to infer that your question was stupid, sorry if it came across that way, I was merely trying to answer.
andrewrogers
OEM Traction Control is useless for racing at the Pro Level. It is too intrusive, and has a "on/off" effect. It needs to be more progressive.
andrewrogers No worries, thanks for your answer, confirmed by Marcel !
What did you have to do to get approval to record/film?
connect with WSBK "Dorna" directly at the event.
Still think BMW should just sponsor you cant stand that a awesome rider like you. Cant get. everything out of himself caus you are a freakimg amezing rider
What year is the bike/ie traction control??
gduplikemyhouseshoes 2012 BMW S1000RR.. Traction control is OFF
Do you use an auto-blipper?
+Matthew Humenansky no, only the 2015 BMW has that ability. I manual blip.

Thought all s1000rr had traction control
Throttle control(toss you like a horse/high side)
Better without commentary
why even comment? lol Your the minority. Next time you comment on youtube try to say something positive also.
I hope you get a factory ride.
Anyone else miss Maryanne??!
doesn't your bike come with traction control and other electronic stock
They all come with Traction Control, and electronic suspension (ddc) is an option I didn't want.
+Marcel Irnie (Irnieracing) not following, at the corkscrew you commented the other riders had factory bikes w traction controls, launch control, etc., and you didn't. Did u remove from ur stock s1000rr?

Hey marcel you should it put shau kang FINISH HIM!!! THEN HIS LAUGHTER😂😂
Good edits, narration, and telemetry....def can do without the music though
Leave that crap out. Just distracting.
Bwahahaha ! You kinda sound like a strip club DJ with a good microphone. XD. Not hatin' , still good stuff. Best of luck in AMA.
