    Nice seeing a GoPro vision on the helmet instead of bike mounted GoPro, it lets us see the effects of acceleration.

    Hay marcel. Question? Before you turned on the traction control. The bike seemed to strong and aggressive. On a race would you turn the t/c off and run it all out?

    "This is Irnie's first track session in the morning, so he is extra careful to learn the new bike" .... and you still fly by all the other riders on the track haha. Do you happen to know what your personal best lap is at Laguna Seca?

      He's turning 1:44's in this video...he's cruising around I guess. He's running 1:28's on his superbike in some other videos. Just for reference...Ben Spies ran 1:23.7 in the very late laps of a race at Laguna in 2006 or 2007...almost 10 years ago. Today's superstock bikes are faster. I guess I'm saying Spies was special...he'd probably do 1:23-1:24's on the bike Marcel ran in the AMA race at Laguna. Anything under 1:40's is pretty good. When you get down to the low 1:30's...you're hauling the mail. Love this track...the last time I rode it was 21 years ago. I was turning 1:40's back then on a showroom stock Yamaha 600...tires too. Bone stock. I'm an old guy now and I'm finally going back to Laguna in a few weeks on a sport touring bike. If I can get under 1:40's I'd be pretty happy. Not counting on it though...just have fun and keep it on two wheels.

      I saw it...you were scooting on the beemer. I wish I could get a hold of a modern sportbike and see if I could pull some low 1:30's. Trying to go under 1:30's doesn't pay enough. I can't afford to get hurt at my age. ( 54 ) Laguna is a great track and it's only 8 minutes away. I finally did my first trackday on 06/19/2016 on a sport touring bike. Later

    doesn't the old s1000rr front race fairing restrict airflow?
    the new s1000rr has a bigger front intake.

    • @irnieracing
      @irnieracing  9 років тому

      +TheRealBajan I don't think it restricts anything. The fairing stay opening has not changed, so the snorkel would not make a difference.

    • @therealbajan522
      @therealbajan522 9 років тому

      +Marcel Irnie (Irnieracing) cool, the intake is the same, only the snorkel is different.

    Hey Marcel Irnie! I wanted to ask you a few questions:
    How tall are you?
    What is your weight?
    And do you think the BMW S1000RR would be a big enough bike for my size?
    My size is 5'9 250lbs. I was a Former Football Player; I also LOVE Strength, Power, and Explosive Training / Weight Lifting!
    I was thinking about purchasing a Suzuki GSXR 1000, a BMW S1000RR, and / or a Kawasaki ZX-14R (because of the Power, I LOVE Power) and I would like to ask a Professional Racer what Sports / Super Sports Bike I would possibly fit nice on, and / or which of the Sports / Super Sports Bikes would fit well for me due to my Thick, Dense, Skeletal Frame and my Muscle Size? I want to have the power to move my Big ass from point A, to point Z?
    I like the artistic look of the Suzuki GSXR 1000, and its Power! I like the sharp shape of the BMW S1000RR and what everybody says about the bike; how it is "perfect" and a "Sports Bike Riders Dream!" And I like the Kawasaki ZX-14R because of its looks (kind of... I do not like the tail 100%) and enormous Power at one's disposal! Could You possibly help me Marcel Irnie?

    • @irnieracing
      @irnieracing  8 років тому

      If your interested in a sport bike to carve the corners, then the S1000RR is an excellent choice. Your other best options are the 2016 ZX-10R, and 2015+ R1. The GSXR 1000 is a very old platform, unless you wait for the 2017 model. The ZX-14 is not a "sport bike" but more a drag bike that is more comfortable for long rides, similar to the Hayabusa of years past. Your size would be fine for any bike.
      Cheers

    • @ccol009
      @ccol009 8 років тому

      Okay, alright cool. Thank You Marcel Irnie for the information I did not know about! Especially about the Kawasaki ZX-14R! Man I am glad you informed me about that drag bike, I think I will look beyond that one now! I do like the ability to have freedom to be more swift, elusive and evasive like the Suzuki GSXR 1000 and the BMW S1000RR! I guess it comes down to the 2015 (I really like the beautiful artwork on that model and the Bike's operation simplicity) Suzuki GSXR 1000 and the BMW S1000RR -I LOVE more than 95% of what I have heard, read, and learned about that Sports Bike / Super Sports Bike (BMW S1000RR)! Thank You Marcel Irnie for providing a more Professional Racer in depth review of the BMW S1000RR, it helped ALOT man!
      I'm guessing that 2017 Suzuki GSXR 1000 will have added technology to that simple platform? I just looked at a couple of UA-cam videos and seen some photos; I do still like the beautiful artistic style of the 2015 Suzuki GSXR 1000 model more than the 2017 GSXR 1000! But then I LOVE everything I mostly hear from the BMW S1000RR!
      Thank You Marcel Irnie for your help, and information man! Nothing better than asking an experienced Racer like yourself! I am greatly appreciated for you sharing of your knowledge and experience! It's cool actually communicating with You "Marcel Irnie" it's like meeting a celebrity in a way!
      I do have one more question Marcel Irnie: Between the 2015 Suzuki GSXR 1000 and the BMW S1000RR which Bike would be the ALL AROUND Sports Bike / Super Sports Bike for: Everyday riders, Racers, and even possibly beginners? Which of the 2 Bikes would You recommend as the better option?

    • @irnieracing
      @irnieracing  8 років тому

      ccol009 You already know the answer. What did I buy, and like I said before, the gixxer has not had a significant upgrade since 2005 really. Lol. Great bike if your looking for a used one.
