Cool! .....Cold and fade refers to how a song ends.....cut is a very quick transition.....blend is slower transition.....drop is also a shout out ussually by a celebrity in a mix...riding is keeping songs playing together simultaneously for a long time.....clean is song without curses....dirty with curses....dub plate is a single press record a test press for dj to try a sobg out....dub is a remix of a song that constantly repeats a certain part.......Bogart is a person that refuses to pass a marijuana joint, hence he Bogarts it, smokes like Humphrey Bogart......transition is a mix that goes up or down in tempo in an extreme amount.....break records means playing new stuff nobody has heard yet....wax is a vinyl record.....giving a record burn means playing it and hence promoting it....butchering a song means making a bad remix.....there is sooooo much slang....you can do a video of just explaining different genres.

When you were talking about DVS and mention Serato was first actually it was Final Scratch, but FS had a lot of bugs! Serato became the go to just because of that. Great vid!

Just came here to make sure someone pointed this out.
Love Serato but they definitely didn’t create the tech. So strange that Richtie Hawtin and friends created this technology and most everyone forgot within in decade. I guess that dude made his money though so I’m not worried about him.

@@DJWesReed no doubt. I know that he made mad money, I think Ni bought the code in improved it for Traktor but i'm not sure. i just remember it was here then Serato came and it bounced! Hawtin bought a small island and disappear, with all the money he made! LOL

Final Scratch version 1.1, Stanton Magnetics began working with Native Instruments on the software side of the product, which became Traktor Final Scratch. I've been using since the beginning. Serato came after Traktor.

Awesome intro for a lot of people. I clicked because I was like....wtf does the Autobahn have to do with DJing...lol
I'll add something - not all songs are 4/4 (meaning 4 bars per measure with each bar being 4 counts). Time signatures can be really confusing for people, as that gets into music theory, but if you count 4 and you're not getting even bars...try counting by 3. 3/4 is what you'll find with waltzes and songs like Alicia Keys - Fallin' and Piano Man. If you're mixing during dinner, or even slow songs later...you're gonna run into different time sigs. Hell, that might be worth you doing a video on (or send people to check out Rick Beato if they wanna really nerd out on theory). Awesome to see you included the wheel.
We call "Throwin Darts" "Throwing Shit at the Wall"....you just hope something sticks.

The "juggling" was originally used by GM Flash to extend the "breakdown, bridge" portion or best part of the song which is where the term "Breakdancing" came from. The MCs started talking to get the crowd hyped or "Move the Crowd"👌🤓😬

Doesn't DROP also refer to the BPMS Dropping in the middle of a song like in French Kiss by Lil Louse. Great song if in battle mode with another DJ in a timed event. where each dj has like 5 minutes to showcase then the other has to mix off you and then back and forth till one Fs up and is out if you drop french kiss at the right time when time ends it should be doing it drop (like rolling down a hill fast) Fs them all the time.

I feel like “chopped” and “screwed” is a good one to mention. Basically whenever they would slow down tracks on old vinyl and delay a copy to make a “chopped and screwed” remix

A bar is not 4 beats. It dépends on the. measure. Waltz are 3 beat bars. Lots of latin music is writen in 2 best bars. The jazz standart "take five" is 5 beat bar. You can also have 6, 7,etc bars.
I understand that most music is 4/4 but saying a bar is 4 beats is wrong.

    • @NickSpinelli
      @NickSpinelli  2 роки тому

I wasn’t wrong - you can’t say a bar isn’t 4 beats because it certainly can be and is 95% of the time. I just forgot to mention that a bar depends on the time signature, that’s all. My bad!

here's one,,Under "Gear",,how about "Class Compliant" which means, "a class compliant device is one that doesn't require extra drivers to connect your Windows or Macintosh computer, or to your iPad. Class compliant devices use drivers which are built into the host (i.e. the computer or the iPad) operating system".

    Just learned this..
The word gobo is an acronym derived from “goes before optics,” which alludes to it's physical position on a fixture. It's essentially a cap or template that sits in front of a light source.

Here’s the couple terms you didn’t say first one opening set that means starting the night second one closings set Means you’re closing the night and then marathon set means you’re doing the whole night about six hours or more like a marathon
