Boondocking - Home Made Truck Canopy Camper Setup, Camping In Winter -10 Degrees
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 лют 2017
- Made my own "truck camper" under the canopy in the box of my pickup truck. Took it out to give it a try at Walmart, and this will be a good addition to my camping possibilities. Good setup for logging roads, back country. Would need a few tweaks for true urban stealth camping, but it could work if done correctly.

I built my truck camper when I found out I had cancer..Have been off work since April..in between chemo I go camping in my truck. It's the best thing I've ever done. I wish I wouldn't have waited until I was dying to start living..
Good luck johny
Try the macro biotic diet. It starves cancer cells.
best wishes man. i reckon most people go their whole lives without "living."
@@DanteS-119 you're so right my friend. It's strange, I moved to a new city with a higher salary job thinking how awesome it'd be. Well with the crazy hours I'm pulling it's way more stressful than I ever imagined and I don't really see the apartment I'm working hard to pay the rent on.
Fatjohny100 hey man how you doing?
Really, you can't help but like this guy...not hurting anybody, just having a good old time...
But ain't it crazy how theres laws against not hurting anyone and having a good ol time... That sucks...
Mac Mike yea it does
i agree
His wife is a saint.
I know right!?
Steve is the friend that anybody would want to have...I like his soft and calm voice...A model to follow really...
Overall positive optimistic outlook on seemingly everything, I don't have that skill lol.
I call these episodes, “Vintage Steve”. So much has change since these episodes, except Steve. Always genuine.
You seem like a new viewer, welcome!
Steve is an adult who never forgot the fun of being a kid, grabbing all the blankets in the house and building forts with tables and chairs in the backyard. This is why I like Steve. He never forgot the fun and adventure of being a kid...
I'm a kid but want to be a adult it's boring my parents won't let me do that
and he gets to legally drink beer.
Add some military training to it and you can really disappear from society.
@@stevendogman1007 your a kid man we all regret growing up trust your olders on this my mum frowed apon all this but mum found out she liked urbex so always going got any photos of your last explore session. I would much rather my kids do this then what I was getting up to at your age.
He’s way past “never forgot” it..... he’s LIVING it.
People are giving this guy so much shit but you can tell he’s a really nice guy
yea and John Gacy's neighbors thought he was a swell guy too...
+RedBud815
I bet some people think you're a swell guy too. So what does that mean?
Lol, yeah, we can tell when someone is really nice from a 13 minute youtube video.. foh
What kinda candy did you get? I got molested
He looks like a swell guy
After watching your video, it gave me the idea to try it out in my own truck. I live in MN so it's pretty cold right now but not below freezing yet. I kissed my family and bid them goodnight before heading out for my own adventure. Minutes later, I was back in my "warm" house and decided to leave cold camping to the pros. Hopped into bed and watched another one of your videos.
🤣🤭😂
Pussy
Lol 🤣😂👍✌️
Eh you know, maybe next time! Go get em tiger! 🤙
lol too funny dude or dude it.
I'm hunkering down while watching you hunker down
That's kinky
I'm hunkering down reading this comment
I’m dreaming of hunkering down while being hankered down by corona.
I hunker down in my sofa watching Steves videos, cosy cosy
Get hunky get funky
Interesting video. I actually lived in my truck for over 6 months 6 years ago and trust me, it wasn't by choice. I was unemployed and homeless. I would have loved to have this minimal set up at that time. It was averaging -14f that winter. Funny thing is, after I found a kick-ass job and was able to buy a nice house, I'd still sleep in my truck alot for the first few months. I just felt safer. (Truck is was paid for) I still kinda miss being homeless. My stress level was way less believe it or not. Had to do with nobody could take anything else from me. I still own that truck. I might just set it up for just in case. It's my dump run truck now. That's all I use it for. Lol. Life is weird.
Wow, yea life weird for sure ;). Some People just don't like living in a home. If I was in a Warm Climate... Trust me, I would sleep outside and stay out everyday!
Yes, please do fix up your old truck. I was homeless in my old saturn (wish i could stretch out in the bed of the truck) and had to sell it after i found housing to pay rent. It meant alot to me as it took care of me, gave me somewhere to lay my head. If you still have your truck, please take care of it.
i own my own house, im a single 32 year old man. i wanna just get rid of my house, convert my truck, and live in the woods.
@@antongirdeux07 - You know a lesson I've learned recently and I wanted to share with you. This old lady down the street from us just retired and she is 71 yo. She worked at McDonald all her Life and for 31+ years. She have 2 Kids and she did it to support extra money/spending money. During all these time, most People make fun of her and looked down on her... But in the end, she had more than a million dollar worth in stocks after retiring. She kept buying stocks with the extra money and now she is AOK at retirement. Sometimes the easier road seems to be easy at the moment... But later on in life, it will be harder.
@@JodBronson no. I have a giant empty house and im a slave to my job. Im sick of it.
Watched this video from my truck outside of Walmart.
Same here
Same here! Lmao 😂
Same here !😂
I upgraded to the airport 😂. Safe and the police is polite with me. They know that I’m homeless and that I’m trying to be on my feet. In fact someone behind me and brought some drinks! The best thing happened to me, I do not have bills anymore and actually can pay my student loans that was a big BS
Life is short! Enjoy it as you can I’ve been living this way since May of 2015. Being able to save money, eat well, do the things you like, and buy things you want, is my main motivation for living this lifestyle. Their system is slavery and oppression, and I don’t like being an oppressed slave. I’ll fight it to the best of my ability. I bought a step van (bread truck), and I’ll be fixing it up this spring. I would NOT be able to afford rent and utilities in an apartment even if I wanted. That’s how oppressive their system is. I would have to be completely enslaved to a job just to afford to scrape by their system.
Man, I've been doing this in the back of my Highlander for a few years now. Makes me feel like a little less of a POS when I see others do it. Some people just don't realize they can travel and see the world if done with a minimalist mindset. I'm not poor by any means, but paying for hotels puts a big damper on the amount of fun I can have. Also can't beat the protections from grizzlies/mountain lions/wolves when camping in the Backcountry.
what about BigFoots lol you for got about us where watching you lol not just joking dude chelle out .
Youre living my dream life dude.
Chris Farley use to hunker down in a van down by the river.
Eating government cheese...
Brent Cowan 😂
BAHAHAHA!!!!!!
To think, That used to be a line to shame kids and now it's a damn GOAL to live in a van down by the river
In military training they taught that you shouldn't wear any clothes than necessary in sleeping bags. bare body heat keeps the bag warm and excess clothing just traps the moisture inside the bag.
I agree, i have slept in boxers in -25 Celsius in canada, had a inner and outter sleeping bag, was very warm
Yes I can verify that also,I would only sleep in tshirt and underwear with my cold weather sleep bags
Yes stationed at Ft Wainwright alaska, slept naked inside my coldweather bag, - 50 degrees in winter, it only hurt, when training started again at 0400, getting dressed.
Its a rule of thumb in boy scouts too. Nothing but undies. Sleep in clothes, wake up sweating and go out in 10 degrees will just make you miserable.
Pfft... layers. Its all about layers.
How can 1.1k people dislike this video. This guy's not hurting anyone hunkering down. And just having a good time
Can be lots of reasons.
Jealous
Cuz so many people are mean and have cold hearts and don't know what nice things are in life some people forgot what life's all about and they need a good shaking to f****** wake up
All Walmart employees
Karen's. Nuff said.
Stealth camping is a real thing in this day and age. Many people in San Fransisco do it as a means of living. No one can afford a place to live out there. I've done this myself, but I was legitimately homeless. It's really not near as bad as one might think. Some of the best sleep of my life was in the back of my truck.
Right I was telling these people check out cat lady van and vancity van life Chrome and Emmy live in their vans and I would eventually want to do that one day everything's too damn much money
I was homeless to and lived in a car in Kentucky. I'm not homeless now thank u jesus .
With the air mattress I use in my 8-foot bed and cab-high canopy (And Walmart is selling some pretty good ones these days, believe it or not), I sleep better than in my bed at home!
This post was edited 2 years ago. The street in front of my work in Santa Clara ( 200 yards worth ) has 15 motor homes (one a mother and daughter has been there the longest) and 3 camping trailers plus a ton of garbage left out side (4 loaded abandoned trailers and a boat) and usually left behind when they leave. I feel sorry for them, but just keep it neat. A half year ago there were maybe 6 motor homes. I've been working there since 1984 when it was new. 44 years with the same company.
In life we can always come up with ideas on how to live , how to eat, how to survive but it's the loneliness from being alone that's hard to overcome, be nice to each other regardless of their status.
Well said.
I completely understand. Been a widower for 5 years and I'm only 48
Well said
After watching this it makes me want to go "hunker down" in my truck too....
Victoria Demico Aa Do it! It'll be fun!
I wanna go hunker down in my Tacoma now lol
It looks like this guy has a nice 8 foot truck bed for his set up. Can you imagine if he had a 5 foot bed? Forget that noise. Haha

The cot is a great idea. When I was in the military I was forced to sleep on the cold floor of a truck mounted repair shelter. Even with a foam pad and sleeping bag I could feel the cold coming up from the floor. It was the most miserable night of my life. I don't just dislike the cold I hate it.
yeah the military sure treat you well. roll tide amirite.
when you rubbed together the empty paper bag that holds the noodles i felt that. i know what its like to want every bit of seasoning out of those bags.
Yea especially with the ramen packets or the macaroni ones too
"i liked the part where you did that thing that literally every person does"
i liked the part where he breathed. i felt that.
idk why but when he describes what he’s doing it’s so calming. it made me sleepy!
IDK what it is about getting out of the house and sleeping like this, it's just fun, I can't explain it. I'm a 60 year old grandma, I would do this in a heartbeat if I had a pickup with a campershell.
With or without Bill Clinton????
I love your spirit
Make it happen
Check out the car ones. You can do it at any age and any car. Just go have fun!
I'm game
I lived out of my grand Cherokee for a year. Traveled all over the states. Took side jobs from craigslist to earn money, No stress nothing. I camped out in the wilderness, couldn't stand walmart. Best experience I've had. I would definitely do it again!
For the cooking burner I would recommend a “C” clamp on one of the three legs to fasten the burner to the table so that it is not easily knocked off of the table.
EDIT: oops I see I left that tip here in the comments 11 months ago - - as Gilda Radner used to say - - NEVER MIND!
He’s a great guy that probably had some hard times in his past. Whatever creates happiness is what we hope for
Why is everyone trying to read so much into it, camping and boondocking is fun, and he makes a living from it, it’s really not that complicated.
I like the dude with the wood stove.
@partisan they can kick you out of the parking lot and enforce anti-camping laws....like what Walmart is now doing...
@@TomTomTom87 I can't find anything about Wal-Mart doing that, are you sure?
Not trying to "call out" anyone, but I just want to know if they are really making it illegal.
@@Quoteunquot3 Here in southern California, all the Wal-Marts banned it....there was a list going around on reddit that showed which Wal-Marts allow and dont allow. I unfortunately dont have it - but its on google.

Camper with the wood stove maybe an employee. We had a new manager park his camper at the store when he moved from Calgary AB to Toronto ONT. At least 3 weeks till he found a condo to rent.
Not saying it is but definitely a possibility.
IF you are going to cook in the truck, get a Carbon Monoxide alarm/ sensor. That kills lots of people annually.
He does watch more of his videos.
Or a hot plate
Dennis Saunders what about the breathing air? Is there enough air to spend the night?
Propane heaters are what kill.
People sleep with them on all night.
@@sentientcurse9303 not with the buddy heaters, they give out very little carbon monoxide
Watching in 2023, a lot of water under the damn for Steve since this was videoed. Some good times and some unimaginable horrible times. I doubt that when Steve made this he had any idea how huge his channel would become. Thanks for all the entertainment my friend.
Watching this from my minivan outside a safeway 2000 miles from my hometown. Shit's lit, man.
The rest of my subscriptions are nothing like this guy's videos, but this is quickly becoming my #1 favourite channel.
Never in my life have I thought about camping like this or his other adventures, but after finding this channel last week, it's all I want to do. I wish I found this channel sooner!
Donald Gilday I'm binge watching just found the channel!!!
I have a beautifully restored home here in PA and though I don't have a pickup truck I do own a 1981 pop-up camper. I keep it set up in my brothers field in New Jersey and try to stay in it on weekends. It's hard to explain but I sleep 10 times better in my old camper than I do in my house and the food always tastes better in the field whether it's a hot dog or a can of tuna. I love the simple outdoor life and find it to be therapeutic. I'm 59 and some of my family members think I'm off my rocker at times but I wouldn't trade it for the world. Normalcy can be quite boring if you ask me. Enjoy your boondocking trips to Walmart, I think it's awesome :)
Don't know how I missed this one! Been watching Steve since I don't know when. He does what I can't...I used to,but I can relive thru his adventures. Blessings to Steve and his Beautiful Wife
My dad built an insert to slide into the back. It had a bed on each side, a small table in the middle and storage underneath. He and my brother used it when they went on overnight fishing trips. As a teen, I rode in the back on a trip from IN to FL (and back), laying on a bed and reading a book. I also had the cooler, so I had to pass drinks and snacks through the back window to my folks. LOL Good times back then, although totally unsafe.
Take a shot every time he says “hunker down”.
Mr. Stangs hunker down; bottoms up
Mr. Stangs I just got drunk
Or boondocking
I got alcohol poisoning 😟
Don’t do that. You’ll get alcohol poisoning.
Wonderful to have so many great old videos. My thoughts for you and everyone mourning together.
I'm in an Scottsdale AZ Walmart parking lot watching this. It's Thanksgiving day 2020.
In my Astro van snowbirding (don't think that's a word) got down to 44 degrees and I got pretty cold. But than, I'm 76 years old.
You're well over twice my age but you're living life well over twice as much as me. You're an inspiration. :)
Also, I think what you were doing is called twitching, I don't know why. I know it's been a year but I hope you're still hale and hearty. 😁
Add a remote car starter to your truck. They shut off after 15-20M of running. Leave your heater turned on, full blast at night and your cab to bed window open. Then if in the middle of the night you want some heat, press the start button on key fob. It will run car for a while and let heat in and shut off a short time later. Or buy a Mr. Heater that uses the tiny propane tanks xD
He got a gas burner. Put water in a pot. Done
I wouldnt trust the exhaust to not get into the cap, not like the bed of trucks are air tight, or the bed itself for that matter. The beds of trucks are separate from the cabin, and not sealed off, not meant to be, by design water and stuff has to drain from them when it rains and stuff.
Hell my wife and I lived in the van in walmart parking lot for 2 weeks last summer and bathed in the river lol we had a good time
Adding a little reflective thermo-material to the windows would not only do wonders for insulation but it would increase your stealth substantially. I always enjoy your content, thanks!
Really like your minimalist setup. I did this for a year back in 2006 throughout the Pacific Northwest when I came into a little cash. Started with a 2004 Ford Ranger Supercab I had already paid off, I added a Leer Midrise pickup shell with sliding tinted windows (ventilation)
, and an insulated pickup bed liner. I also bought a cot, a large Walmart electric thermoelectric cooler (no ice), and a Schumacher jump starter/power station, mainly for charging my laptop and other electronics. When the Leer shell was attached the installers were able to set me up with a 12V outlet in the truck bed and a 2nd battery. I also had a local seamstress make velcro blackout window covers for privacy. Truck stops were great for showering, and I stayed at a lot of road stops with amenities when not camping at overnight campgrounds.
Years later after settling back down I sold the truck and still miss it and the free lifestyle I had.
I do this when I go to parties with my friends. I have a cot in the bed of my truck and a heavy sleeping bag. Then go to sleep once im done for the night.
Pro-gamer move damn
@@cat19649 yessir lost plenty of friends who didn't have anyone to call and decided to drive home drunk. It's best to camp it out
This reminds me of the many times in 20 years I was homeless and living in various vehicles. The van was the easiest. Lol. I had a makeshift bed of couch cushions, blankets and sleeping bags. I liked it at times.
I had an old Dodge Caravan that I set up to boondock way back in the 90s. Travelling to Southeastern Georgia, I stopped and camped a few hours in a Waffle House parking lot. Noisy and busy, but I managed a three-hour nap.
First one I ever saw of his show. I was hooked from there.
It's been a year and I am watching this again.
Something I loved when I was doing this in my suburban was charging an extra battery with a solar panel and using it to run an electric blanket and a flat screen tv. I actually liked it better than a hotel room. Very warm and cozy.
This would be a great video for someone seeking a temporary or emerging emergency situation and owning a pickup with a cap. Great to show minimalist accomplishment. Very simple. Thanks.
Something to add to remove the moisture would be a container or two of Damp-Rid.
I get into arguments with my gf just so I can do this

I couldn't believe you didn't lock your back window, or tail gate. I used to camp like that when I was young. Always had a way to lock the back, especially in a parking lot
I’m hunkering down in my eighteen wheeler sleeper while watching this I made noodles in my microwave it was good,
What type of truck do you have
Tony Eccles worse comes to worse I’d get my CDL and become a ft driver. Be great to see the whole country for free and get paid for it😀
When I see eighteen wheelers stuck on a snowy highway with all the other motorist stuck in their cars, I think: These drivers are well set to stay warm and cozy in their sleepers. In cars people are with their kids or elderly with their coffee and a snack bar if they are lucky! And some dont have proper winter coats and boots to endure the cold. For most drivers, if the better option when you dont have to take the road in a winter storm is not to take the road. At least in a big truck you will be safe.
Those Mylar camping blankets they sell in the camping sections at Walmart and sporting good stores are excellent to tape over windows..pulled tight you can see out but it looks like foil to anyone from a distance (they can see a little inside if they walk right up to the window and your light is one). I used them on my bedroom windows to keep the light out in the daytime cause I worked at night. And they helped keep my room cooler in the summer too. One day my daughter looked out and saw a girl trying to get into everyone’s cars in the parking lot. she couldn’t tell that we could see her.
Holy crap! I wonder if Steve is still a practicing Catholic? Caught me off guard there with the "no meat, eating tuna thing on Ash Wednesday" comment. I grew up with that but don't practice anymore. Was just surprised to hear that. Lol.
At 72 I camp in my A/R/E cap . Eped -25c air mattress canvas bag with Hudson Bay blanket . on the windows foil heat blankets that are for windshield . heat refection in day , at night warmth . propane Heater buddy when - 15 / 30 c . ALWAYS ventilate well , roof vent open . Lived in a ram maxi van for three years in the 70's : > )
You go man! Loved your comment.
when you opened up the back window i was surprised how cosy it looks!
At a Walmart watching this video as I hunker down for the night in my own truck. Still looking for a used camper shell that fits my needs.

I'm downsizing and offering up all my collectibles in this unstable world and rent my house out just so I can live in the back of my truck like this guy. Even though I own my home, I enjoy traveling in a nutshell.
i got that same sleeping bag things lasted for years and super warm and worth the money. got it for a outdoors program second year going. so glad i did first time going was fairly cold

Just lost my Job and house 😓 so I'm tuning in.
Hope things work out for you..
How you holding up man
Where you from?
Darren Brown lol
Come on darren, maybs the internet people can help you. Just got to respond
I have made about 6 trips from Washington to Illinois and I never stayed in a hotel. I always just found a quiet place in some town along I90 and slept in the driver's seat. Being over 6 foot, it wasn't the most comfortable place to sleep, but I stayed warm for the most part, every once in a while I would get the heat on just enough to warm up and then off it went. Never had any problems
Inspiration..... As soon as I am financially able I will get a truck and set it up. I had to stay in my truck at a period and it sucked because I had to sleep in the fro t cab. If I would have had a set up to rest better probably wouldn't have stopped as soon as I did. What I did like was the peace I felt.
Here's an idea for sleeping in a camper in cold weather: cover the inside of the camper with Mylar. That way it will reflect heat instead of sucking it out with the cold metal.
Never forget the joy of the journey Steve. We miss you,and are praying for your recovery
You can also buy 12 volt light bulbs that fit into residential style light sockets. That's what my parents always used in their travel trailer when plugged into the truck for boondocking. Their trailer only had residential style light fixtures.
Years ago I had a 76 Chevy 4x4. I put an insulated topper on it. I took 3/4" plywood and cut it to fit the bed. Covered it with carpet and with the extra plywood I made a bed that went sideways at the front of the bed. Took my hunting dog with me and camped out for a few days! Had 40 gallons of fuel (13 mpg's) and a shotgun and a dog! Oh the memories! I know you recorded this a few years ago,,,, but it brought back such good memories! Oh and back then I did "step 2"!
I just finished building a 6 x 10 camper. I installed a diesel air heater, and at -27 C. I can keep the inside 25 C. Went out for a few camping trips and when I'm not out camping, I made sure spend one night in it on my driveway every weekend. I can't explain, it felt that much more comfortable especially when weather is bad outside
I enjoy watching this guy's videos. I envy his attitude of following his heart with whatever he decides or wants to do, regardless.
It really is about life's simple pleasures. Thanks for the content over the years Steve.
This is an oldie but a goodie. Tonight I just set up my boondock setup for a weekend helping a friend work on his property. Love these videos.
That's why he parked it near the burger king. No one's gonna smell his wood stove over the grease stink of fast food deep fryers!
dat stanky meat
And it's probably the assistant manager's home until that next big promotion that still hasn't come
Actually I like a flame broiled Whopper from time to time.
For safety though, you should use electric stove instead.
burger king is one of few places that flame broil their meat and there is a smoke stack with strong grilled meat smell. if you've ever been close to a burger king then you would known that. there is no place on earth where you smell fryer oil smell like you are saying.
my point is that your comment is fucking stupid. thank you.
Boondocking is a new one. Seattle is full of them. without the truck.
Same here in Baltimore...though some roll around here with a shopping cart RV...
Thanks for the Democratic party for making it happen.
I know but u save a lot of money my freand saved enough to buy his house it's paid off in one day
BeeFriendlyApiary where I live their RVs are made out of cardboard boxes
Boon docking is used when RV'ers are camping somewhere without hook-ups. No water line, no electricity = boon docking (dry camping). This is just truck or car camping here or "van dwelling".
I still can't get over you having that jacket! STILL having that jacket. I've still got mine too!
I come back to your old videos from time to time. I am so glad you kept doing your thing and ignored all the hateful comments in here. Nothing but respect Steve!
I sleep with a window cracked in my bedroom in the dead of winter. I keep the furnace vent closed. I sleep with a sheet, 3 blankets and an electric blanket. I'll close the window if it gets real windy or into single digits. I burrow in and sleep like a bear. My chihuahua is in there too! lol
That looks so comfy
I agree.
hey Steve, thanks for the vid, was cool to see you still have the passion for the boon docking action, there's something primal and magic about this.
Did anyone else's OCD go off when he left a bit of tuna in the can or am I really crazy?
Davis Horowitz Yep. That’s totally normal, though.
Yes!
Yeah, only that's not OCD, you sound like a tik tok millennial, respectfully.
@@b.c.7741 Respectfully, I believe you're thinking of zoomers. Speaking as a millennial, I've never used Tik Tok.
@@NewGoldStandard I wasnt referring to Tik Tok primarily, was more so pointing out the "does anyone else's OCD go off" part. I have a pet peeve when people claim they have OCD, esp over trivial occurrences. Legitimate cases of OCD are a nightmare and hell to those who truly suffer from it.
The Internet is a strange place. I did not think I had a fellow catholic down-hunkerer on this planet. God bless you !
I have a tip that I've never seen in any camping or bushcrafting video ... On cold winter nights, put whatever you're going to wear tomorrow in the bottom of your sleeping bag with you. That way you have warm clothes to put on in the morning and don't have to get out of your warm bed to get dressed. Nothing like warm clothes on a freezing cold morning.
It's refreshing to see someone being safe and sound and respecting walmart without acting so parinoid and dramatic over it lo love your gourmet cooking lol no I understand the video. Thanks keep on camping / boondocking when
And wherever you can
Like the set up with the night stand and table. You may consider this if things go bad.
Great video! Not to be weird but you’d be an awesome voiceover actor. Your voice is really pleasant to listen to! 🎧👍🏽☮️
we done this on tour a lot, it is easiest option and you can actually throw a whole queen or double matress in there and it makes a whole comfy area, u just have to leave shoes off and not as much overhead but id say the comfort plus made it worthwhile.
I'm so excited to watch these older camping with Steve video's again!! FUN!!
Scrolled down and nothing made me happier than to see Johny still responding and still getting out into nature
You should use reflectix for insulation, it'll help keep your cab warmer and you'll need less light because it's reflective.
Love camping in general. When you’re at Walmart are some other shopping center you can pull next to the shopping center sign and plug in a extension cord and get free power, because their is always a plug on one.
So simple but so cozy... I love it
I feel like we all knew someone like Steve in school and never knew what happened to the guy. For some reason watching Steve makes me happy for that reason
Thank you for posting this video. I have a Ford F150 Supercab with a Snugtop camper shell on the back of it, so your video gives me inspiration to experiment with my rig.
One of the things that can help. Curtains made out of perhaps those little throw blankets that you buy at Walmart the black ones. Or take a blanket that happens to be black cut it up use it to make curtains that particular. Type of material doesn't reflect light. It's about being stealth. And having something covering your windows. So cops can't shine their damn flashlight in the window. Sometimes cops will even try to rock your vehicle to see if you're in there. That's when you lay still and don't even make noise when you breathe. If you respond they know you are in side if you respond. For cooking what you do is go to Parks and Recreation areas. And pull your little camp stove out on to the picnic table and do it that way. That way your place doesn't smell like whatever you're cooking. And it's even better if you can do it in such a stealth way that people don't see where you're getting your camping stuff from because there's a lot of nosy busy bodies that want to make problems. Motel parking lots and all night coffee shop parking lots are good places to park.
That decided it,I’m going boon-docking in my pick up. It has reclining seats that I’ve quite comfortably taken many a nap in,so I don’t need a cot. The back widows (it’s an extended cab F-150) are dark enough so you really can’t see in,and I’m gonna make a curtain for the windshield and door windows. I don’t plan on cooking in there though.
I watch while snuggled down under my duvet, so therapeutic. Thankyou so much .
Over 2M views right on Steve. Keep it going this content is the best.
I love these kind of videos. So cozy! Inspired me to buy a sailing boat myself. After this virus times I will build solar panels and live by the ocean.
Big fan from Stockholm ❤️☺️
I finally got a job I can work remotely, this is definitely how I'm going to travel.
You should get some reflective thermal insulation for the windows. Makes a world of difference. So does having just a tealight for warmth. It actually can keep a small space like that really warm.
When I was a kid my dad owned a 1987 GMC 1/2 ton with a tall canopy. We spent enough hunting trips in it that I built a shelf 2’ wide by 6’ long that sat right on the lip behind the cab. We used it as a table, storage and a bed (the truck had an 8’ bed so we could fit two cots to sleep three people total.
