Thank you, XGames, for running this. What an awesome competition this was, history in the making. Gui Khury brought years of joy to my eyes and the rest of the lads were impressive as usual, despite struggling to put anything down. Anyone like me who has ever tried to skate vert knows how amazing these fellows are and how hard these tricks are. May God bless you all.
If you weren't into skateboarding when Tony Hawk landed the first 900 you're really in for a treat for the next 10 years with how much these guys are playing off each other and amping each other up.
Are you pulling my leg KICKFLIP BODY VARIAL 900 that was unbelievable i feel sorry for the people in this world that didn't see that and hit rewind 50x like i just did
Dude amen to that. I spent years trying to get a vert ramp in our hometown. They're hard to maintain, that's the big issue. It's 100K or more that's gonna last all of 10-15 years. Still, California is the destination for vert skaters (and any skaters, really)... I spent 2 months in California and my skating improved by orders of magnitude
@@theskatemap oh for sure. we had to get one of our parents drive hours to our nearest skatepark, and pay like 15 bucks or whatever. i lived in dallas too... the dude with one leg jon comer was always there, and there was always a pro skate crew showing up. it's crazy how many skateparks there are now in general. street skating is thriving for sure.
dude my favorite thing is that Gui just absolutely owns the banshee scream after the kickflip 9. This dude is *mad* competitive!!! Did you see that slam he took right before the make??
it's true, Elliot Sloan has been doing 720 heelflips for what seems like 10 years now. I guess it's tough to know where to go from there! He was kind of similar on mega as well - tailgrab 9's won year after year
Good to see Moto get the silver, and Gui landing that too oh boy what a fantastic competition! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the Ventura outdoor stuff but the wind was a problem and throwing the guys off, look at how many more landed tricks and sooner at this indoor venue
These people are on a different level but when i listen to the commentary i have to laugh , with the usage of all the different names of the tricks , it just sounds funny in so many ways. Ohhh the triple spin into the 5 -40 spin down . Lol
first one in competition (unless you count body varial 900 i guess) Edit: Nollie 900 has also been done, if you consider that something other than just a grab
@@greatpaintfxxauchspeeddraw2665 body varial is pretty sick i guess. nollie is idk. seems like it could be just someone's preferred way to start. now if the nollie person also does 900 another way thats super sick. this actual flip trick is next level though. at least to me. im not a huge fan of vert skaters that never do flip tricks also. i never skated vert so i cant really attest to the difficulty so my opinion is pretty worthless btw
If X-Games really wants to up the entertainment quality they will get different commentators. That doesn't mean adding Gary Rogers either. Everyone is aware how forced these broadcasters sound and it's horrid.
Isn't hitting your board on the coping for you own trick essentially clapping yourself? I mean I guess I'd give myself a little clap if I landed that...
gui's reaction to landing a trick he already knew he could land is annoying. It was a great trick and deserved the rank for it but man it was annoying to watch his reaction.
Did he actually land it in a comp in a few tries? Completely different story than outside of a comp in probably dozens of tries and the KID is 15, I think it's annoying too but hating on a kid is pretty weird.
No BMX vert anymore? X games taking out all the coolest events. Aggressive inline? Gone. Big air? Gone. Now BMX vert? Soon, nothing will be left except skateboard street.
Soya's Alley Oop Varial Kickflip Indy 540 better than Gui's 900 Judo. JD's Around the World Fingerflip 540 worse than Gui's 900 Judo. Interesting. I would have placed Elliot's Heelflip Indy 720 higher.
@@corey8677 sorry that literally defying the laws of physics doesn’t impress you bud 🤷♀️ Every skated in this comp absolutely rules, but the first ever kickflip body varial 900 in a competition SECOND TRY can’t be beat.

Brandon mentioning PLG at the end gave me shivers. PLG was one of my favourite vert skaters for many years. Miss that dude.

Thanks
Moto's trick was CRAZY! Huge props.
Insane seeing the rodeo ff impossible and the kickflip body varial 9 go down back to back

@@stevenwilson8718 me too and i agree but bro Skateboarding is awesome again for real and the girls are magnificent
He hit it for the first time about a month prior to this and let out the same banshee scream lol
i wonder how crazy vert would be right now if it was accessible as street skating
I skate at lots of parks with vert bowls and they hardly see any use compared to the street sections. I don't think it is about accessibility.
@@freedomcaller its definitely about accessibility. thats not the only reason ofc but its a factor

JD Sanchez is my favourite new age vert ramp skater! He rips at park too!
Looks like everybody just had their wind taken out of them after Gui landed that.

Loved watching JD grow up at Braille. Now seeing him on the big stage is full circle
Gui Khury is becoming the GOAT of vert
Congrats Gui !!
Excelente Gui Khuri
Amazing how dey just can do dat.....I know but to go down the side and up the other is amazing.

I have no idea how you top some of the tricks done in this competition. Insane stuff.
Excelente!!! Gui Khuri orgulho do Brasil
I was watching when Tony Hawk landed the first 900. Cool to see things still being pushed further
Crazy, he did it
That young man Khury just did a kick flip 900 I believe
Kick flip 900 body varial

Jimmy with the turnstile shirt 🔥🔥
Gui basically is every child’s “player 1” in Tony Hawks Pro Skater pulling through for gold in the last heat.
AWESOME!!
JD got robbed Soya's trick was cool but 540 around the world finger flip deserved a Medal of some kind
He has lots of time to become a legend and win medals but yeah he should have at least placed
Congrats Curry, great skating bro.
Gui killed it on 4th attempt.
(and on 3rd attempt O.O)

So heavy. I actually like the commentary too
16:33 it looked like moto missed the wrap with his foot so he spun his board around his foot with his hand, which i dont think ive ever seen anyone do
or it did wrap and then he did like a varial?? i just rewatched it so many times and i still have no idea what happened
Definitely not wrapped, therefore it was not a front foot impossible variation. Having said that, it was still amazing to say the least.
