I moved to Indiana as an eighth grader in 1984, and immediately became emerged into Indiana basketball which I supported and enjoyed, I've had a lot of respect in certain areas in regards to coach night I will say one thing based off the way I was raised and my over two decades of service in the United States military airborne community. And that is Bobby Knight always talked about respect he always talked about discipline but he was one of the most ill disciplined and disrespectful people I've ever seen and how he treated others that asked him questions he didn't like being asked or didn't agree with him. I've never met the man in person like millions I've only seen him on TV coaching the game of basketball and I've only seen him in interviews and post game interviews, many of which he was completely obnoxious and rude to stereotypically small community reporters who are just there to cover the game. I know many people older people than me in Indiana who still believe Bobby Knight is basketball Almighty, watching Bobby Knight's rants can be somewhat entertaining but again I go back to my original and main thought which is Bobby Knight completely fails himself as a person in regards to being respectful and having discipline.

At every step of his career he was disrespectful to the administration of IU the administration of the NCAA and the administration of some opposing universities he was rude and obnoxious to reporters to fans to alumni that's not to say that he was always at fault because he was not personally there's part of me that agrees with the type of practices and the discipline that he tried to instill in the athletes but overall he had some deep psychological issues. And as time went by really starting in the late 1980s and just blew up throughout the 90s and early 2000s is Bobby Knight's legacy and fame grew in his head more than it did in real life he started believing a lot of the hype about him

True. You get a reputation and it's hard to fight. people will believe what they want to believe. Just like your rival team in sports,if there's a rape or some criminal type of allegation on an individual, we will much more likely tend to believe it than your own school, or team. people should be careful in what they post in those type of situations.

Like what? He was honest, he told it how it was, and he didn't take anyone's shit... Just curious but what because the media as well as these people posting videos would make you believe Knight was only about telling off the media and throwing a chair... I ask because I come from Seattle... I truthfully didn't become interested in Bobby Knight until the the show Parks and Rec was introduced to me a few years ago... I got to learn a little about how Indiana is basketball country and the main character Ron Swanson does several throwbacks to Bobby Knight throughout its run...

A great American. A great human. But he definitely had some flaws. At least he admitted his shortcomings. And he will be admitted into heaven. That's the most important thing.

A lot of people fail to realize that Texas Tech had Bob Knight AND Mike Leach both employed simultaneously, for almost all of the '00's. What a time to be a Red Raider journalist.
