You're a real inspiration Michael. I fell into leftover ebikes and for the last 3 months all my time has been learning all I could about battery building cause the most recent acquisition had burned 3 battery packs and a charger in less than 50 miles of use. Just put 10 miles on the new pack built from batteries salvaged. So far, so good. I'll be looking for all your videos.....

Great video, very useful info about the e-bike replacement battery, charger and e-motor. I ride since 2023 spring one of the best loaded and most affordable e-bike - Heybike Race Max 48V, 12.5Ah, 500w hub motor, 3 pedal-assist levels and throttle, 7-gears Shimano, handlebar adjustment. For only around $500. Just so you know, I’m not in Heybike business relationship, just online conscience senior buyer on limited fixed income, sharing my own experience.
Sure, I enhanced the lower-tube controller & battery attachment by using triple bob cradle, changed the grips with Egraon-4 for more anatomically-correct handlebar handling, and etc.

Hi. I like your videos and many are kept downloaded to watch offline. I need a help and if possible please make a video on this topic. I am working on one project to replace motorcycle battery with lithium battery. This are used in harley Davidson. I can make the battery pack, but worried about the bms. Which bms to be used, because in the description of online site its written, input voltage should not be more than 13.6v and in motorcycle the rectifier will give voltage of 14.3v, also the bms should support more than 30amp. I had seen few videos on this topic but not mentioned about bms. Can u please help

    question:
I got a 750W motor with a 48V battery. the motor is installed on the rear wheel. I was thinking of adding a motor to the front wheel. What would be better in terms of speed - having both motors hooked to the same throttle or separate throttle for each? I'm guessing the latter would probably cause the motors not to be in-synced which might increase drag (?)
the follow up question is: should both motors run on the same battery as well?

When choosing a solar panel, look for a panel using SunPower cells. They are tested to be the most efficient cells on the market. AllPower brand uses the SunPower cells in all of their products and you will notice a huge difference. Combine that with a GVB-8 and you will have a ebike solar charger that will actually make a difference.

I bought a Vruzend kit and discovered that some of the threaded studs on the caps stick out less far than others.
I assembled a pack and found it impossible to fit more than 2 of the provided metal strips on a terminal. The thickness of 3 strips does not allow the nut to fit on.
Did I pound the caps on the recycled cells too hard?
I used the block of wood as you describe. Was it me or is there some irregularity in the caps?

What would you like to know about solar power ? We've been off grid for close to 10 years now, and are finally up to using around 20kW peak worth of panels, several MPPT charge controllers, and most recently Nickle Iron( Edison style ) cells. We put about 200A into the batteries at 32v most days( mid day ). Yeah I know . . . not the 20kW you'd expect ;) That's the way solar works.
Do the math on what you think you need. Multiply by 3, and then you *may* be starting to get close to what you really need ;)
Making a portable ebike charging system from solar, is what I'd consider a waste of time. If stationary, yes, that would work fine. Problem is, for a pack that's say 52v and 10ah. For a C5 charge rate( 5 hour complete charge ), we're talking you're going to have to push ~104w. For a portable solar charging system, that's not going to be very practical to carry around. Of course, that's assuming the batteries are completely empty. C10 could be fairly practical, but at 10 hours, you're probably at best going to just be doing minor battery charging maintenance. Maybe something slightly better than brake regen.

I do not have as much experince as you when it comes to solar power but ive done quiet a few months research and had a little play and building my own system because since i was a kid i have always wanted to generate my own eletric.
Down side being a kid not got the money and no internet back in those days.
I agree with you about about what you say about portable charging and 2 years ago there was a young lady (can not remember name) cycled across America cover just over 3200 miles and she had a trailer with solar panles on it which charged the bike as she cycled on here eletric bike.
The battery never got below 60% charge and she did it make people aware of mental health and a few other things basically charity type work.
No point me doing solar for eletric bike as would have to go to another country to make it worth its while.

My home made electric bike just died the first time I took it out in the rain. I could really use your book. Thanks for the videos. I'm super excited about the deals you mentioned. Would you please make a video on hiding purchases from your wife?

Keep the stuff wherever you keep your tools. My wife never looks there ;-)

The bike dried out and is back running again. Also I tried to order the 48V battery you have a link to but I haven't ordered through AliExpress in a long time and they refused my card. I'll have to plan ahead next time. Thanks for the recommendations and information keep up the good work.

My sealed lead acid battery is 7 years old just did half charge #400 going for 500 on The E-Zip Trail-Z all original . Payed $399 on Target.com for the bike with battery. Always charge right after riding, store in house at 70 degrees & only ride above 40 degrees & below 80 degrees.

Hi Mike, I'm just slightly confused. most ebike kits require cable operated brakes, what if you have hydraulic brakes as per my Giant mountain hardtail? very informative videos by the way, cheers Jonny

Glad I found your channel. I have a e Bike and the battery has died after a yr old and because I bought the bike used they are not covering it under the two year warranty. So hopefully can find a second battery and your channel can help educate me.
Also very interested in solar power. This is the first video of yours I have watched but sure will be streaming more to my smart tv.

Thanks for the heads up Micah! Hope you get a chance to try and and review the Tongsheng TSDZ2. A DIY mid drive with torque sensing. Seems to fly under the radar to the more popular Bafang motors.
