Starting at 16:28 (988s) Mark makes some observations as he sums up the video. The third point he made is a huge and often overlooked element of any race, and the way Mark frames his observation is not only encouraging and kind, but it is true to the core...Watch to at least 17:18 and you will see what I mean. Mark you are a huge smart-alec (which is a lot of why I watch you), but recognizing/speaking on behalf of the people who come in behind you, who chose to finish the race no matter their placing, is fried gold. I believe the racer with the biggest heart is the one who comes in last...they finished the race and didn't give up, and that is worthy of acknowledgment. Always finish what you start folks! 💪🥳👍
I think it's time Hyrox starts paying you, or involving you in their official business somehow, especially given your new NO-everything approach on youtube now. You might not even be interested in a partnership, but you do certainly bring in new people for them. I will be competing in my 4th Hyrox event later this year, with a bunch of friends also competing of having competed in Hyrox events before. All through your channel. Amazing content, hope this isn't the last Hyrox-related video we get!
Thanks 🙏 I'm not that sure Hyrox are after "athletes" like us. They tend to focus a lot of marketing on the elite guys. Although it's funny to go to an event in the UK now because we have people queueing up for selfies 😂
Well you want to make money off your channel I think you can do better than just members, look at music - streams pay buttons, gigs pay millions.. Think about it Hell I've got 3 acres at the top of a hill you can round round, a bunch of tractor tyres, hell there's a duck pond (you'd have to get on with it they keep dying) Can't be that hard to find somewhere and do your own

Thank you for saying hi at the event. Also a BIG thank you for your shout out to the volunteers. They work very hard all day and you saying thanks is a big motivator for them.
I definitely get her "not wanting outside encouragement and motivation shouted at you when your tired" thing. The wall balls always looks absolutely brutal. So many reps. At least with the broad jumps and lunges it feels like you're actually getting somewhere.
I love the message at 16:48 about the athletes at the back of the pack. As I often say, in any endurance event the two hardest working people are the first finisher and the last finisher.
Jenna is a monster in the best possible way. When I want to quit on a workout I sometimes find myself groaning “what would Jenna do?” It’s lovely how even though you’re competing you both encourage and are proud of each other.
Based on facial expression alone, it appears Jen’s effort might have been a tad less to achieve a better outcome 😂😂 I absolutely love these videos of you both doing Hyrox. Nice work Mark. Also Jen yelling “NO” when you dropped the kettle bells is amazing 🤣
I did Manchester as my first Hyrox this year having heard you talk about it and wanted to give it a go for myself, what an experience! Jenna was in the wave behind me and when I saw her I thought of you calling her unfit and talking about how much she loved to eat so I was so impressed when I saw her smashing the stations, I’m also pretty sure she lapped me! What an achievement for her (and both of you!)
I have a sneaky feeling that Jen is made of steel. The disappointment in her voice when you put the kettlebells down was real. Great video as ever. Hope things start going better for you.
Just made a mental note never to attempt a Hyrox. Without your inspiration, Mark, I may have been stupid enough to attempt one. I'm sticking to half marathons!
Stumbled upon your page as I was searching for Hyrox and omg you are the FUNNIEST person I have ever watched!!! Thanks so much these are so helpful and highly entertaining.
Awesome video. Great effort. Thanks for including my cameo at 7.40 whilst you were doing burpees I was "powering" solo on the farmers carry. Top job Mark and Jenna
"Come on princess" has to be the takeaway from that!! Somehow i think perhaps making Jen bring in the shopping will only make her stronger.... you might need to rethink that strategy. Brilliant video as always.
4:05 having watched so much of your content, it was great to meet you in the start box and share a laugh side by side on the Ski Erg. Looking at the video we weren’t far apart, but the in between bit was all a blur until I saw you sprawled on the floor 11 secs in front of me at the end. Bloody awesome effort with that vest. Those BBJs looked a long way up from the floor!

My first Hyrox was a Pro event. I was confident, but those sled weights just about ruined me. My legs went dead at that point, and it was hard to come back from it. But, unlike Mark, I am 5'9" and stupidly trained myself to be too big for efficient distance running, and too small for success at the heavy events. Way to go,though! And with the vest, that is an even more impressive time.
Immense effort from you both, well done. This was my first Hyrox, in the men's doubles. We were very near to last, with the runs being our nemesis (we could probably claim the "above average" on the exercises alone, but 8 slow runs left us floundering at the back). Damn, when you announced that video, I had a feeling, Jen would wipe the floor with you, but she really exceeded my expectations. Well done, both of you! The pro league looks just brutal!
You make a fantastic point that many people don’t perceive… yes you may be slower than many at events like this but that also means you suffer much longer. That’s an accomplishment that the folks who don’t make up the top 50% can truly be proud of as they work to improve their fitness.
Too right,I did a local summer half marathon in August. 10:30am start and in the heatwave 25 degrees at that point no shade round any of the route and just over 30 degrees when i finished(just about in top 50%).I was cheering the final finisher across the line about 1hr 40 after i finished by which time it was 35 degrees. They deserved so much more than the same little medal as me,i doubt i could have stayed out and kept going that long in those conditions.
One day I'll do something like this, your videos are the most "I wanna do that" thing on fitness UA-cam for me. Tho tbf I got tired only listening to them, I despise any form of cardio that's longer than a kickboxing match.

I'm still working on my running and general fitness, but I'm gonna do a (modified) Hyrox sim this Sunday, to see whether I'll train for one next year! Very exciting, thanks for sharing the Hyrox stuff, it's super motivating!
I saw an article where they asked multiple elite marathoners how long their long runs were. Mostly they worked out to around their typical marathon time, but at a slower pace. When the interview said amateurs will frequently go longer than 26 mi in training, one of them said, "Oh my God, how can someone run for four hours and then go right back to training two days later?" So yeah, the people winning races don't understand how the rest of us can work that hard for that long.
@@MarkLewisfitnessWork smarter, not harder, as they say. 😉 Seriously, though, overtraining is a serious issue with a lot of amateur enthusiasts. They just kinda assume that more is better. Not only is this not necessarily the case but it can be positively dangerous.
Dead right about working longer. I cycle. Beginners think they’re doing themselves a favour by taking it very easy but there’s a pain and fatigue penalty for spending 50% longeron the bike for a given distance. Once you’re fit enough to cruise at a decent speed everything becomes massively easier.
Great job at HYROX by each of you, and great video. I do feel like you should have provided Jen with some sort of podium at a duck pond after her impressive performance.
This makes me feel better! I’m a big lump, 250lbs. I ran my last hyrox in 1:35. Felt like it wasn’t a good time. It’s amazing how much harder it is to complete this event as a bigger athlete. Thanks for all your hard work and great content!!

So yeah, the people winning races don't understand how the rest of us can work that hard for that long.
Great point! The elites simply don’t work as hard in that context!
@@MarkLewisfitnessWork smarter, not harder, as they say. 😉 Seriously, though, overtraining is a serious issue with a lot of amateur enthusiasts. They just kinda assume that more is better. Not only is this not necessarily the case but it can be positively dangerous.
Well done to both of you.
That is an excellent point, it's not just a fitness event. For some it's an endurance event too.
Fantastic effort Jen. Congrats
Damn right on the burpee broadjumps
This makes me feel better! I’m a big lump, 250lbs. I ran my last hyrox in 1:35. Felt like it wasn’t a good time. It’s amazing how much harder it is to complete this event as a bigger athlete. Thanks for all your hard work and great content!!
Bloody awesome job from Jen, and a solid A for effort for you :P
Tense, nail biting excitement to the end!
