I miss my husky dog 'Storm' running Parkrun and all the way up to half marathons with me, she loved the interaction and made me look way better than I was. She's 13 now and retired herself aged 7 after sitting herself down during a 10 mile training run on a cold winter night and made me walk home 😃
@@alisondale979 Thats actually a great way to retire....like "I'm done" - way better than running on and you worrying how good the dog is at knowing it's limits.

Thank you for being you. I'm not the least but interested in cycling but I watch all your videos because they are awesome. I'm 58, 50 lbs overweight and it's been about 12 years since I ran a half marathon. I thought my life was pretty much over but I'm in my fourth week of getting back into running, largely thanks to you. I intend on running an ultra some day, I will continue to watch your videos to help keep my motivation up.
As I'm only 8 years off 58 - I F**KING hope it's not over by then 🤣. Remember, 50 lb is a 1lb a week and this time next year your 2lb underweight! Keep after it!

I completed Alpe Du Zwift for the first time today. Slow as fuck (1h 47m) but never done much cycling before so to be expected. Gives me a nice target to beat for next time.
Probably wouldn't have happened if I hadn't stumbled across your videos last year so wanted to comment and say thanks. You've helped me get out of a rut.

Love it. I often scare my family when we go out for family bike rides. Everyone will report in on how difficult that last hill was, parking the bikes and dying on the ground for breath. I check my heart rate history: "Didn't break 120. What's wrong with you guys?" Kids : "You're a monster!"
Nixon, like the coach in a boxing match, is offering crucial support keeping the sweat off the back of your pate. No one else got that kind of assist! Okay, so he weighs 20 pounds+. As a factor, we'll call Nixon a wash.....see what I did there?

Excellent idea.. I'd love to race my family but I'm not sure it'll happen for a while. Wife is coming back from 2 pregnancies in 2 years (I couldn't pull out of a driveway). Kids are both under 2 (one can't even walk yet) and I have a 30+ kg labrador so I'm pretty sure I'd end up with a broken back. Might be an even playing field after all..

Hilarious! You and Nixon crushed it! They defo lost apart from on the time! I did the Alpe this morning, and as a 56 year old pie muncher, I smashed them! Not my fastest time, but at 7am after a significant Christmas weight gain, I’ll take it! Sadly, I didn’t ride with my beloved dog on my back. She passed away just before the festive period and this is the first doggie related thing I’ve been able to watch without turning into an emotional wreck since. Thank you for the joy 😊 give Nixon an extra cuddle too. He is a lovely dog, what breed or mix of breeds is he? He seems a lot more up for coming out for a ride than my Beagles!

In high school, I raced against our state qualifying basketball team. They ran a 4x800m, I ran 3200m. I only lost by about 60 meters.
Hey buddy as a heavyweight runner i need a few tips.Yesterday I ran a 3000m in 14minutes at a bodyweight of 225lbs..Now i want to go sub 12..Do u suggest me to loose weight? Or just more practice would see me through?
And is this 14minute 3k good or what's the standard?
Hi Mark, no idea if you will see this but I wanted to ask you about your heart rate improvements you saw during your fitness journey. I thought I was averagely fit, getting back into running but what my brain considers to be an average workout, my heart is actually sat in zone 5. I guess my heart doesn’t care one bit what my brains expectation of performance is, it cares about my actual relative effort and responds accordingly. Just interested in what your perspective on heart rate vs performance is, because you know, your a sensible chap and came from a physically challenging place at the start 😊
For the first few years heart would go sky high when running. Eventually things improved, and now it’s days pretty low and stable on a slow jog. Jen is a good example, she’s only one year into all this and still struggles to keep her heart rate Low on slow runs.

I did my first park run today managing a time of 29.41 and 7th in my age category (I’m 49) It was raining and muddy as a bonus
Normally I’m a long term cyclist, been doing some gym strength training for about a month and now park run because of you, it’s all your fault. 👍😆😆
Good video. However, I think you'll find zwift physics are a tad out. I.e. when going down hill you should be able to go down without having to knock out 300watts to keep with the group. Shows the physics are out. I think.

Mark I'm really struggling to get under 27 mins on park run. I could be 10 kgs lighter would this help to get a better result. I used to be 140 kgs now I am 105 and my body seems to want to stay at this weight. I am doing weights and cardiovascular should I focus more on cardio
