    Love this series and your channel, thanks for the thorough testing. I'm an Ibis Ripmo owner and glad to see it held up to the test. For anyone else considering a Ripmo, definitely take a look at the DVO Jade X Coil. I'd love to see timestamps with chapters, here's some that I noticed:
    0:00 - Intro and explaining the bike choice
    3:19 - 6th Scor 4060 ST
    6:34 - 5th Pivot Switchblade
    11:10 - 4th Santa Cruz Hightower
    16:00 - 3rd Ibis Ripmo
    19:23 - 2nd Transition Smuggler
    21:30 - 1st WeAreOne Arrival

    Fantastic series - such a great watch , makes me want to buy a new bike monthly.
    I’ll say this - you’ll buy another Hightower.
    Everybody gets away from Santa Cruz for a while, but then you realize when you put their Bikes all together all things considered they are the top dog .
    I’ve sold two high towers and rebought them both times. I’ve resigned myself to always have one in my garage.
    Keep up the excellence

    Pivot must have listened to you because for 2024, they did go slightly slacker in the head tube angle and steeper in the seat tube. Be interesting for you to review the updated 2024.

      I will most likely reach out to Pivot soon to see if they are interested in having me review the new bike. I just have a small injury and another bike showing up soon so if they do send it I want to be able to take full advantage of getting a good amount of time on it and not just a few rides.
      But yeah the new bike sounds awesome!! Exactly what I wanted out of it, it seems.

    Nice reviews. A couple of thoughts on how you could improve your content. You clearly have a lot of experience on these bikes. It would be helpful if you would provide context on how you like to ride and your trails you are testing on. The next step to help your viewers is to describe which types of trails best suit each bike. Instead of just giving us numbers for climbing, descending, etc., how about describing what about these characteristics differentiated it from the other bikes on test. Also best to describe how you got along with the bike in terms of fit and components. If the fit or components weren’t to your liking or were setup exactly how you like it that will dramatically change your perspective on any bike. You’re going to hate any bike that feels too big or too small, brakes you aren’t comfortable with, uncomfortable saddle, bars too wide or too barrow, etc.

    I have a Tallboy V4. Considering moving to a Ripmo or smuggler. Since you've ridden all 3, what difference do you see? I know they are very different bikes. I've heard the Ripmo pedals uphill just as well and has more room for getting weird on the down. Thanks for the work you've done on these videos

    • @dialedmtb
      @dialedmtb  9 місяців тому +1

      So the Ripmo feels different than the other two for sure, I would say it does not climb as well as the others, its not far off and for being in a different category it does super well! But with the Pike and Super deluxe on the Tallboy V5 that is my favorite out of those 3 bikes. Honestly a bike you didn't mention that I think should go maybe to the top of your list is the Yeti SB140 or SB140 LR. It climbs better than the Ripmo, not as good as the TB, but similar to the Smuggler and descends as well or better than all of them. Plus they have crazy good deals on them right now!

      @@dialedmtb Thanks for asking. Due to weather, I've only ridden it a few times in sub optimal conditions. Definitely a racier feel. Has a lot of giddy up when I put down power. Climbing feels good. Yeti seems to have a little less traction on roots and may bounce around in the rear more. Descending will be decided down the road. I've ridden some goofy stuff with my TB. I hope the Yeti can outshine it.

    • @dialedmtb

      Yeah the last generation of Yeti's (SB115,130,150) you have to ride more aggressive for sure. The new ones have a softer feeling rear end, but you have to spend a lot more to get a new generation bike while the SB130 is still an awesome bike!

    Do you think the spec tire played a part in the overall rating? Maybe one tire helped a bike maybe held another bike back?

    • @dialedmtb
      @dialedmtb  Рік тому

      So I have had some other comments with the same question. I rode every bike with either a DHR II or Assegai for front or rear. Then I had the tire clearance issue with the Smuggler so I switched it to a tire that would fit without rubbing which was the new Trail style 2.4 Forekaster, then since it was paired up against the Hightower I swapped the DHR II on the Hightower to a very similar rear tire that Maxis says its a lot alike, which was the Dissector. I have rode on all of these tires an absolute ton and understand which each one does on my local dirt so I do not think there was any advantage to any bike or disadvantage since I did at one point run all of these bikes with a DHR II in the rear and either an Assegai or DHR II in the front.
      It would have been nice to have all the same tires (if they would all fit as well) also if I were to do that, it could have cost me $1000 which is more then I would make on UA-cam in multiple years hahah.

      I did reach out to SC in February to see if they wanted to send one for the test, they responded to me at the end of June.. haha But I also think the Hightower fit into this group of bikes the best out of all of SC's bikes, with the 5010 a close second. Mostly because of the 27.5 rear wheel and all the other bikes were 29 front and rear.

    • @dialedmtb
      @dialedmtb  Рік тому +1

      The problem with giving it a rating is it wouldn't be as accurate. I rode all of these 6 bikes back to back so I was able to compare them to each other and that's where the ratings came from. I haven't rode the stumpy in about a year. From what I remember it's super solid though. Would probably be one of the best climbers in the test. Descending was really good, and without riding it back to back, from what I remember it was just a tiny bit less plush than the smuggler. So yeah for the current price of the stumpjumper and the price of these three I would go with specialized.

    Wow the cable routing on the smugs is atrocious. When I got my alloy patrol I was actually surprised there was zero cable routing for a $2300 frame and they just sent me a 8" long rubber gromet to TRY to weasel around the dropper cable. Basically the cables just flop around inside of the frame, wish they did a better job with that. My patrol also gets quite a bit of rock chips and scraps inside the rear triangle like you mentioned.
    The smugs routing is just a gaping hole on the frame and rear triangle? That would get filled up with dirt and water where I ride, bummer because I really like that bike but not for a $3699 frame and that lack of refinement.

      I just picked up a smuggler, pre built. It is very compact back there, I don’t think a whole lot of stuff can get in there. The bike looks very clean. Love it. As long as you don’t have to route cables more than once a year, I’ll take the clean frame over more user friendly routing.

    • @dialedmtb
      @dialedmtb  Рік тому +1

      Yeah I think that since the smuggler was the first bike with internal rear brake routing I would assume the next generations of the sentinel, spire, scout, etc. will all end up being a little better in that department. Or at least I would hope so!!
      It is not the end of the world but still not something you want to see on such an expensive purchase for sure. I do think We Are One has a small update coming but I think it will just be the rear triangle. I have seen some pictures online and it looks like it now has a UDH and it has a flip chip built into the link which I am assuming will have the 130, 152, and 170 options all built into that 1 link now.
