About the tail, Toriyama explained that 20y ago. A saiyan's tail is a recessive genetic trait. A full blooded saiyan having kids with a human results in a half saiyan who has a low chance of having a tail since the non-tail gene of a human is dominant over the tail gene of a full blooded saiyan. That's a clever theory he came up with to not draw tails anymore because he hated drawing them.

Even if it is a recessive genetic trait, there is a chance for a genetic mutation which would birth a full blooded saiyan without a tail.
If that saiyan would birth a full blooded saiyan, the chance for a FB saiyan without a tail would be 50%.
When two 50% saiyans elope, the chance for a tailful saiyan reduces to 25%.
With saiyans existing 1000s of years, you would imagine there would be more tailless saiyans 😂😊

@Josh López Trunks is a year older, and Vegeta constantly trains with him as a sparring partner. Vegeta in the timeline of the show as I'm lead to believe conceived Trunks before he became a Super Saiyan. He then went into space, trained for months, and then transformed. Shortly after he went back to Earth to join the battle with the Androids.
Baris explained it well at the end. Which is also why future trunks is weaker than present trunks. It was explained that Vegeta had reached Super Saiyan faster in the present due to the warning given by future trunks. If youre current with the Manga the Hybrid Saiyan with the greatest potential is Bra because she was concieved after Vegeta attained Godki.
But what about trunks then? Vegeta couldn’t turn into SSJ, when he screwed Bulma.

The reason Goten doesn't have a tail is simply because Toriyama didn't wanna draw tails on them any more lol...There is also a saying that he just forgot to draw them after a while. Most things that don't make sense in this series to can chalk up to Toriyama forgetting lol

Toriyama stated in an interview that Goten and Trunks didn't have a tail when they were born due to "recessive genes."
Toriyama also explained in an interview that to be a Super Saiyajin, you need a genetic anomaly called "S-Cells." The more S-Cells you have, the more capable of becoming a Super Saiyajin. Saiyajin tend to have more S-Cells when they are more gentle-spirited. In addition to that, Goku and Vegeta were already Super Saiyajin when they were "creating" Goten and Trunks, and were genetically passed a large amount of S-Cells. Then you can also add to the fact that they are half-breeds, who tend to naturally have more power at younger ages.
Gohan actually had to try to dodge the rocks while in super Saiyan form while Goten was still in his normal state. The power difference between both of their super Saiyan forms can’t be that far off. But of course that difference disappears when Gohan goes to level two
Gohan wasn't using nearly his full power, the Z Fighters rarely ever do.
They only go all-out for an instant or two when they launch a massive energy attack or when they power up to their max.
For most of the sparring with the rocks, Gohan didn't even have an aura. He was just shocked that Goten was at a level that made him push past his relaxed state in SSJ, and that he had to start taking Goten seriously.

As far as Goten not having a tail, Toryama has a tendency to forget certain details when writing his story. It's also possible that since Goku was much stronger when Goten was conceived, becoming a SSJ was more powerful which could have negated him needing a tail.
Not sure if you're aware of the interview, but Toriyama's actually cleared this up in a Midi-chlorianism.
Basically, all Saiyans have S cells. You need a certain amount to trigger the SSJ form.
Training can increase your S cells, but without a calm heart, you need to undergo some kind of trauma to instinctively unlock it.
When you have children, you pass on your S cells to them, so if you have a ton of S cells (already being a Super Saiyan AND still training, like both Goku and Vegeta, for example) you'll pass them on to your child and they'll inherit the ability to go SSJ.
In my mind, it kind of cheapens Super Saiyan because it literally reduces a warrior race's once-legendary transformation to a child's toy. Then again, we already have Super Saiyan 2, 3, Super Saiyan God, Super Saiyan Blue, and so many other forms that put the original SSJ form's power output to shame.
So I guess at this point it doesn't really matter

As Vegeta explained before half Saiyan or half breeds potential are mightier than pure blooded Saiyans we seen it numerous times with Gohan throughout the years leading up to him mastering Super Saiyan.
Maybe that was the case originally, but not anymore.

@@Berzerkor not really. It has been mentioned in the show and different media forms that pure saiyans are better-at least it has been for a little while now. The only real benefit half saiyans have is that they have easier access to super saiyan powers, but they have their limit. The only reason gohan is the exception is because the fandom can’t accept that gohan matters to the series as much as chichi or yamcha in terms of plot.

Actually, there are two types of half-saiyans.
1. Those born with a tail (like Gohan). These half-saiyans have immense hidden power.
2. Those born without a tail (like Goten and Trunks). These are super genius, that might become Super Saiyans naturally pretty young.

A lot of people don't like Goten and Trunks being able to go Super Saiyan so young but it does make sense based on genetics. Recently it was discovered that in humans if you are a body builder for example and conceive your child at your peak physical fitness then that will unlock genes that will enhance your child's ability to build muscle when they are older, making it easier for them than it was for you. So as Goten and Trunks are both half human and their fathers were at a higher power level when they conceived them they find it easier to unlock their potential than Gohan.

you are going to get a lot of answers on why goten doesn't have a tail and why he turn super saiyan, i can tell because this has been a debate for years. i just assumed and still believe goten tail was just simply cut off like the rest, but the definitive answer is the dominant trait is why goten and trunks dosen't have a tail. i liked my answer better than what akira toriyama said. i enjoyed this episode can't wait for next one especially the one that vegeta is in it

If you notice. Videls plane/ helicopter is litterally drawn after a bic lighter on the side used as a propeller with added wings. Lol. Toriyama is trolling seriously 🤣.
All of his former designs included propellers like that and it was cruder in design so you would notice it more.
Remember that Goku remained a Super Saiyan his entire time after exiting the HTC before the Cell games. So he banged Chi Chi as a Super Saiyan. That's my headcanon for why Goten was able to transform so early.
The nods to Dragon Ball was amazing. I think the reason Chi-Chi and Videl are at it is because they are too similar headstrong and domineering seeing Videl hound Gohan for flying lessons reminded Chi-Chi of her and Goku.
Videl is just a younger blue-eyed chi chi.
I always thought Goku having a kid while in his controlled SSJ form is how Goten is able to become SSJ at a young age. It’s an inherent trait.

Meow, who will win Chi CHi or Videl? That is an interesting thought that Goten was more more powerful than Gohan due to Goku's power at the time. The same thing with Trunks, that thought never went in my head. It makes total sense and that may be the reason they became Super Saiyans. You got to love happiness and carefree attitudes, it's cool that Goten is similar to his father. It's like Chi Chi became a little bit like Goku after his passing to fill both roles and to feel close to her fallen husband. Yeah she wanted to connect with her new son too.

So I heard a theory years ago about how Goten and Trunks are able to become Super Saiyans at their age. Not sure how accurate it is, but they say it was something to do with their level of...goodness? Not really sure how to explain it, but because Goku always fought for good and just things, his level was already high, which is why it took Vegeta so long to become one. Because he only fought for the wrong reasons, as did the rest of the Saiyans on Planet Vegeta, which was why there had never been a Super Saiyan until Goku. As far as Goten and Trunks, I guess it was more considered as the innocence of a child that made it so easy for them. I guess that would also question why Gohan never became one at that age, I guess it was because it was never considered possible until Goku achieved it, but would explain his immense power bursts he would get from time to time.
Like I said, I heard this MANY years ago, so it's not exactly word-for-word, but it kinda made sense to me when I read it. Especially how Vegeta and the other Saiyans weren't able to achieve it because of those reasons.
I have a weak fan theory that part of how there are more and more Super Saiyans is, when one Saiyan sees another do it, he picks up some vibes on how to make it happen. Subtle cues, maybe feeling what their energy is doing.
Goten was 3 years old the first time he went super saiyan, but that was in Buu's fury video game, now he's 7 since Chi Chi discovered it in this saga

The main reason a lot of stuff in this saga makes little sense is most likely because Toriyama didn't want to make it. He wanted to stop making the show after Cell Games

He only ever said "I never planned to continue the series after the Pilaf Saga", which is ALL he said.
He has NEVER said he intended to end it after Freeza.

And if he truly intended to have ended the series at any point, he would've at the very least taken a break and thought it over.
Dragon Ball's weekly serialization in Shonen Jump never missed a chapter from the beginning of the series in 1984 to the end in 1995.

so fun fact the reason why the kids reach super saiyan before their adult counterparts is because they are half earthling and everything that comes with being an earthling.
When Goten was born I figured that she told piccolo, Bulma and Vegeta. Vegeta knowing full well what a Saiyans tail leads to, likely removed the tail or at least told Gohan to. Or had Piccolo do it.

Goku was in Super Saiyan mode with Gohan to master the form and at the same time he was walking around, having a baby etc…..maybe while in that mode everything is more potent including Goten able to get to SS without drumming up memories to change

I feel like Chichi sparred with Goten because hes basically Goku's twin so he reminded her of Goku when they first met as kids and Chichi was a fighter. She wanted to feel like Goku was physically still there whereas if Goten was born not looking exactly like Goku, she would have treated him just like gohan making him study.
Just to add to this i feel like since goku never met goten, chichi knew they would get along better after meeting if goten was a fighter too and they would better connect.

Until Recently, there were never any good explanations for why Goten and Trunks hit SSJ so easily other than SSJ isn't that impressive anymore in this universe but fandom always speculated that because its tied to emotions that 1/2 saiyans would always have an easier time reaching SSJ because humans are pretty emotional, where as Saiyans were pretty stoic (this is also part of the Reason Universe 6 Saiyans only needed to find the "tingle") but then there is also a huge point that Goten's birth implies Goku was in his SSJ Mastered form at the time of conception (post Time chamber, Pre Cell Games) (RIP Chi Chi's Pelvis) so it was long speculated that Goten was born able to transform as a result of Goku's SSJ swimmers. It's also pretty clear that seeing the transformation, understanding its existence makes finding the target easier, not that that applies to Goten, but it does apply to Trunks. Trunks isn't old enough or mature enough to understand that it is supposed to be hard and he isn't supposed to be able to do this so he just does it without the mental blocks etc.
Recently there was discussion of "S Cells" being needed to to transform. More S Cells mean its easier to transform Goku and Vegeta trained hard they gained more S Cells. IE Goku didnt have a lot of S Cells at the time Gohan was conceived (probably less than most saiyans his age from Planet Vegeta) but by the time Trunks and Goten were conceived Goku and Vegeta had a lot more S Cells and thus the boys were born with naturally higher S Cell Counts. Which more or less confirms the SSJ sperm theory.

Really can't wait for her to see vegetas reaction to Trunks, what vegeta does at the world tournament, the video Mr Satan had made about the cell battle, gokus new level, not to mention when you get to DragonBall Super and UI Goku. To answer the question about gotten and trunks tail. The answer I believe the the creator gave us by this point in the series he literally just forgot about the tails. So that’s why he didn’t give gotten and trunks one . But it also might be because when he used to draw Goku as a kid along with gohan he said it was very hard to draw clothes with the tails and so it got annoying . I don’t know if there’s any in show explanations though. also for the gotten super sayain thing being easy for him I mean think about it. If you’re dad was really good a certain sport naturally one of you or your children would be good at it if you were good at one. Or they’ll pick it up quicker then if you didn’t or just have a natural knack for it. Same logic here especially since super sayain is a transformation so it wouldn’t naturally be passed down. It’s like if Freiza had a kid naturally he will be able to transform.
Toriyama explained that 20y ago. A saiyan's tail is a recessive genetic trait. A full blooded saiyan having kids with a human results in a half saiyan who has a low chance having a tail since the non-tail gene of a human is dominant over the tail gene of a full blooded saiyan.

I had a theory on half-saiyans and is that in a way they heir a great deal of the energy and power level his/her father has at the moment of their conception. That would explain the high power levels of Trunks and goten.

Goten and Trunks were never born with tails. The creator of Dragonball Z said he forgot about the tail this far in the story, but people say that a hybrid saiyan normally does not have a tail, and Gohan was a genetically disposed to have the tail, like when people are elbinos.
I think Goten would have to be around 6 and 3 months old because he was born 9 months after the Cell arc. Still impressive though, he's pretty much stronger that freiza at age 6, he's basically a prodigy.
This makes sense as Trunks is a year older because he was born in the final year of the 3 year period between Trunks and the androids arrived.

The reason why Goten got to SSayian soooo young is because a Sayian's offspring is born stronger the stronger the Sayian is .... Goku had Gohan before he could even stand up to Radits, which is why they both struggled to become SSayian (imagine Goku and Vegeta having more kids at their current level)... but, Goten was conceived when Goku had already gone beyond Ascended Super Sayian, this means Goten could have even more potential than Gohan ...
PS: I loved this moment for Chi Chi, she was a fighter too and the fact she was training Goten all along was awesome to see

I still say Future Trunks transformation to super sayian was the most surprising thing to happen in dragon ball z. Mostly because Goku had just achieved the transformation and He and Vegeta at the time were the only sayians left besides Gohan. Gotten transformation was a surprise but it wasn’t like the future Trunks transformation against Frieza.
Now that I hear it Goten and Videl seem to be the same voice actress

S Cells is an interesting concept that helps explain how the kids are able to turn into Saiyan Super at an early age.
Truth is, Goten, like Gohan, and Trunks are half-breeds. So they have more potential than full-blooded Saiyans.
Not sure if this is true but my theory as to why it was easier for Goten to acheive super saiyan, was because even in their off time before the cell games Goku and Gohan both casually stayed in super saiyan form, which means Goten could very well have been concieved while Goku was transformed.
I wonder what was more surprising the fact that Goten could transform into a SSJ or the fact that Chi-Chi was the one who taught him.
Did you ever watch the originial DB? ChiChi was a great martial artist when she was younger. She even competed in the last torunament, where Goku and Piccolo faced each other for the first time
Goten and trunks can transform so easy because as vegeta explained it’s a Super Sayian gene.. vegeta and Goku were both already super sayians when trunks and goten were conceived. Whereas goku had gohan when he was still a regular sayian.

On Goten turning Super Saiyan so young, there is an interesting theory I read once which was that it was because Goku could turn SSJ when Goten was conceived (whereas he obviously couldn't when Gohan was conceived). In short, Goku's ability to turn SSJ before Goten's conception meant that Goten had an easier time of it than Gohan did.
But what about trunks then? Vegeta couldn’t turn into SSJ, when he screwed Bulma.

Rumor is Toriyama forgot lol also there were a lot of upgrades even Vegeta should’ve gotten but didn’t…because he forgot…for ex. Vegeta skipped SS 3 and went on to SSG AND SSGB
We were never given a real explanation as to why Goten could turn SSJ so easily. There are a few fan theories.
That week leading up to the Cell Games, when Goku and Chi Chi most likely conceived Goten, remember that Goku was a Super Saiyan the entire time. That could've just passed it down easier.
There was also an interview of something having to do with S-Cells, that a Saiyan has to develop through traumatic events and eventually lead to becoming SSJ. Each time you transform creates more S-Cells each time you do it. So the more you transform the easier it becomes and it explains why Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan had to do so much to get it. Goten likely had S-Cells passed down.
This is just a fan theory, no real proof, nothing really backing but tbh the Buu Saga is where a lot of things just kinda happen and don't get explained.
