Goten v Trunks is such a great & one of the most underrated moment in DBZ.It brings back the nostalgia which we enjoyed so much in the original Dragon Ball series.Those pure martial arts tournaments are so satisfying & such a visual delight.

This was one of the most underrated fights in the series! A mini Goku fighting a mini Vegeta in the finals of the Junior Devision is just so entertaining!

Toriyama also got rid of tails initially because he couldn't figure out how saiyans would put their pants on with a tail going thro a hole lol. Funny how a simple random thought is what got rid of an iconic feature.
Which is strange because Saiyans have exceptional articulation in their tails. They should easily just be able to guide it through the necessary hole while paying their taxes one leg at a time.
I never even questioned goten having no tail as a kid. I mean, they removed gokus tail, gohans tail & vegetas tails been cut off. With all the problems a great ape would cause, it makes sense if they removed his tail. I always thought goten had it removed as a baby
As much as we all love dragonball Toriyama is honestly pretty trash. He only cared about the paycheck not the story.
@@ViolentKisses87 Imagine unironically calling the progenitor of all modern shōnen "trash". Toriyama was an innovator, and an incredible author for his era. And he wasn't getting the litany of breaks granted to modern JUMP authors. He just dished out chapters week after week, and in doing so defined an entire fucking genre of literature.

I'd be down to watch a Twitch Channel if y'all made one. I personally enjoy the original Budokai games (3 was the best imo, it leads up to the end of this saga and has stuff from GT in it as well). Excellent reaction as always too!
What I really like is how Krillin is teasing Gohan over Videl. It's funny to me since Teen Gohan had teased Krillin for having a crush on Android 18. After all of those years Krillin held a grudge to get back at him and to make matters worse for Gohan, everyone is on Krillin's side and is joining in with the teasing and not only making Gohan embarrassed but Videl then realised that Gohan has feelings for her which caught her by surprise. In my honest opinion Gohan and Videl are a perfect match for each other and I am so glad I got to experience their relationship flourish when this episode aired back then on Toonami in the UK.
This is one of the best fights of the series. Trunks and Goten, their friendship and how it absolutely translates here in their fighting bout is something truly epic. It would be difficult to find any upset of victory or loss here cause they're freaking awesome. The best of Goku and Vegeta tearing it up.

I used to watch Dragon Ball Z when it first aired in the US in the mid to late 90s as a high schooler with my best friend. It's wonderful to see Madison have the same kind of excitement and enthusiasm that we used to have back then. I feel like I'm vicariously reliving my childhood through her. You guys deserve way more views, keep it up!
I heard Geekdom say that Toriyama never forgot saiyans had tails, Toriyama said why Goten & Trunks don't have tails is because it's a recessive trait for half-breed saiyans. Though if you want a more meta reason, Toriyama didn't want to draw them anymore, he thought it was pointless to give saiyans tails because they would just cut them off or never use them now that they have super saiyan.
Loved the Pikkon theme. People shouldn't sleep on this match. One of the most underrated matches in the series. Wished they would explore Goten's potential strength.
Goten has his father's oblivious nature while Trunks has his father's zero tolerance.
Toriyama forgetting their tails is a popular rumor but that isn't the truth. Toriyama didn't like drawing the tails so he basically wrote them out of the story. It's explained in an old interview that tails are a recessive trait in Human/Saiyan hybrids. That means very few Human/Saiyan hybrids are born with tails and most of them are born without tails. Early concept art for Super Saiyan 3 had a tail. Trunks not having a tail is also addressed when we first see baby Trunks in the android arc, so we know Toriyama didn't simply forget about them.
Well even though he forgot, they can easily be explained by genetics, the tail could have appeared as a 50% chance, since he's half human - half saiyan, same with Trunks. They just drew (pun intended, lol) the part without tails. :D

It's funny that they put southern hicks against Goten and Trunks, given the fact that Goku and his family have a "country accent" in Japanese.
This is the first banger fight of this saga and baris is completely accurate with his description of how DBZ makes you feel the fights like literally them hits are THUNDER like even now I'm 31 and I turn my TV up when I rewatch any fights in Z cause they just hit so different! This is the 1st of many Madison so get ready!!

Actually my guy Toriyama didn’t forget they had tails. That’s just a myth. Toriyama explains it as a recessive gene to get a tail. Gohan got one but it’s rare.✌🏼hope this helps.

Yeah Toriyama did forget he had a tail but at that time he didn't even come up with the Saiyan plotline either and nobody knew Goku was an alien for years even the fans and creators!

The fight that is worth the wait, a great way to end the junior division. I remember when this fight came on back in the day, I couldn't watch it on TV because for some reason Cartoon Network stopped being Cartoon Network and switched to another channel when DBZ came on. I had to get the VHS tapes for the rest of DBZ, and it started with this match. Now I have the whole series on DVD, the orange box.

Madison should definitely play Kakarot! It really is such a fantastic Dragon Ball game. I love it now and I'm 31! This is the game I always dreamed of as a kid back on my PlayStation 2, just had to wait for decades for the technology to catch up to deliver it to this standard. Also the 'Karen' mom... do you see the foreshadowing in her animation and behaviour to the next villian? ;)

I've been viewing Madison's reactions to the DBZ anime since the start of the Android Saga up to now. It seems she may have started out as a casual viewer of the series but has gradually transformed into a diehard fan.
Regarding her actually playing Dragon Ball video games on Twitch I'd say as long as she's up to doing it and enjoys herself playing the DBZ games then you should consider doing it. Only thing I'd suggest is that instead of starting out with DBZ Kararot she should begin with Dragon Ball Fusions instead. Reason being that she could have access to all the characters after recruiting them including her favorites like Goten and Trunks among the others she has already mentioned and the roster would even include Universe 6 character from Dragon Ball Super besides all others from previous shows and sagas. There would also be generic characters. She could even make a personalized character to fight along side of them in the game. Just one major thing to remember about this game which is during the naming of the personal character you can't rename the character once you confirm its creation fyi. Madison would have to decide on a name for her character that she'd like permanently. The other games don't have to my knowledge Goten and Trunks in their young forms as playable characters on a team.
One thing I do like about Super is it has lot of Goku/Goten interactions that we didn’t get in Z or GT.

For an in universe explanation for the tail thing, I like to think that Bulma removed Trunks’ and Chi Chi had Bulma remove Gotens’ when they were born to avoid accidents.

When Mr Satan was recollecting where he saw Goten before, there’s some theory that he remembers seeing kid Goku fighting Jackie chan in the world tournament and also the clash with piccolo later on before Z started

You can tell the difference of how Trunks and Goten fight. Trunks was taught by his father Vegeta. Vegeta in the past fought for survival. Was grown up to think that power level is the purpose of a saiyan’s being. This shows the characteristic of his fighting style which was then taught to his son. He gets to the point and wastes no time, fights full power at the start, brute and aggressive.
Goten was taught how to fight by his mum Chichi. Everyone knows Goku is strong but some people forget that Chichi was also a fighter and was taught how to do martial arts by his father Ox King. Ox King was trained under the surveillance of Master Roshi and his fighting friend grandpa Gohan (Goku’s adoptive human grandfather). Chichi was considered strong for a human. Since Goten was taught the art of martial arts, his fight style is more respectful, they fight kindly as the reputation of martial arts is to treat their opponents with kindness and appreciate the beauty of the fighting style. Unlike Vegeta, Goku fights on low power first but thats so he can analyse the power of his opponent without losing energy at the start of the battle.

Also the main reason as to why they are competitive is not only cause its a tournament but they’re half saiyans. It is believed saiyans have the genetic urge to fight on whatever cause it may be. They don’t back down from a fight and surrendering is not an option. They may be half human so they’re more carefree but when fighting comes in, they just can’t help their instincts.

If you watched original Dragon Ball this reminds you greatly of Goku vs Krillin in the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai where friend faced friend to decide who would face the ultimate challenge in the last match of the World Martial Arts Tournament.

play kakarot, honestly one of the best story driven games, especially the DLC of trunks.
Toriyama had insane work ethic. Insane as in weird, he had 7 days to make a new chapter. He reversed his weeks, meaning he had 5 days off as his "weekend" and then 2 days to pump out a new chapter for his "work week" which is why he forgot about things like tails and Launch.
another good manga is Death Note, where the authors read their previous 4-5 chapters multiple times every week to make sure they kept everything consistent.
This isn't entirely true. Toriyama didn't actually forget about Lunch. He at one point claimed he did but there was no time for him to actually forget about her. He had mentioned about her in multiple interviews especially an interview at the end of the series where #17 donating to the Genki Dama was supposed to be Lunch. That's why the dialogue is out of place as #17 had never heard Goku's voice. She is mentioned in the Saiyan arc as well. The timeline of all the times he mentioned her goes against that one interview he had years after the end of Dragon Ball. He essentially forgot that he hadn't forgotten about her! Which is classic Toriyama. 😂
And as far as the tails go, he didn't forget about them either. In interviews he has claimed he needed a reason to get rid of them because he found them a pain to draw. Being the lazy person he often is. And he ended up coming up with strong saiyans evolve to not require tails anymore.
I havent played any of the newer dbz games but Budokai Tenkaichi 3, Budokai 3 and Raging Blast 2 are must plays! I think they’re typically considered the best :P (at least, the first two)

Never played Kakarot. But I always do enjoy Fighterz. It’s more competitive but you get to play some favorite characters, like Goku, Videl, Gohan as a kid and adult, and many more. Should give it a try!

1:20 interesting as i'm pretty sure everyone at this point would say gohan and technically with the information we had at the time gohan should be the correct answer even though maddison's guess is right, it was goku because his ssj2 is the strongest ssj2 and he also had ssj3 by this time. It's actually more fun to watch a commentator who openly says they aren't good at games. I've never played the game, but I'd run through it with you two if the game itself is interesting.
Best saga idc what anyone else says... absolutely insane saga so many incredible moments ..so much nostalgia...so much wholesomeness...the beginning of the Buu saga was truly a masterpiece if you ask me

Toryama didn't forget to include tails onto Goten and Trunks.. My original thought was that it was cut off at birth to prevent them from turning into apes during a full moon. However someone informed me that Goten and Trunks didn't inherit the tail gene from their dad's unlike Gohan. I think my theory makes more sense but whoever is right is right. Bulma was generous... 5 mins? More like 5 seconds!lol

Im not covering up his mistakes. I literally said my theory was that they cut off his tail because the other characters didn't want them to transform. Someone else here told me the other theory in one of the other reactions

As far as I remember and I don't know how accurate that is, is that both goten and trunks in super Saiyan are just as strong as Frieza of namek's saga
About Goku tail, it's stated by Goku in og dragon ball that Kami remove the tail permanently, also they didn't show how they removed permanently but they removed it, same goes for Vegeta and Gohan their tail is removed permanently too but they didn't show how they removed it.
