The change in Goku's Gi is because he's no longer a disciple, now he's a master like Roshi.
Ohh so that’s why it is the same orange and blue in Super. He is still learning from the gods so he doesn’t change his Gi.

Pan’s name is so cool. Gohan’s name means “rice” or “meal”, continuing the food puns of Dragonball. Videl is “devil” rearranged. Pan means “bread” in spanish, but Pan is also the name of a demonic creature in certain mythologies. So Pan’s name is almost a perfect combination of her parents naming conventions.

Don't think it fair to put all the blame on Goku for not visiting his friends. If his friends were that desperate to see him they could've just flown to his house which would take only a few seconds. Plus, we see a lot has happened to Goku's family. Gohan getting marrying Videl, has a kid, and even starts a new life of his own. Goku was probably making up for all the time he's been away from his family, as we see him spending time with Goten, even Chichi as well because she seems so chill now. Sometimes so much happens in your life & family that you have to put your friends on hold.
And it’s only been about 5 years since they seen him not 10. If we are slapping super in the middle of that time skip.

I agree I love my friends they my boys my brother's but if I hadn't seen my wife and kid in seven years plus another kid I never raised at all. I'd probably just chill at home with the family 24-7 as well. I mean as adults now all my boys and I mostly spend time with the wife and kids pretty rare for us all to be together at the time but that's life it makes dbz more real to me
Goku can visit with instant transmission though. Its much quicker than flying across the world.
Exactly. With instant transmission, he can visit anyone and come straight back in less time than it takes to get to the dinner table. There's no excuse for 5 years of nothing when you can teleport any time
It's too bad Trunks' Sister Bulla didn't get more screen time... it would have been awesome to have Vegeta train her enough until she could turn Super Saiyan

I love what that long running fan comic (I think it is called Dragon Ball Multiverse) did for Bra/Bulla. She was from a reality where Vegeto never defused and thus she was trained by him and was super powerful.

The timeskip is 10 years in the End of Z. I love Goku and Pan's relationship. Goku is such a good grandpa.I would say Goku is wearing a new blue gi because he is a master now and he is no longer a student. Im happy that we get to see Gotten and Trunks as teenagers.
the reason behind the gi change is that the orange ki was to honor his previous masters. He has a new gi based on him being a master of his own now.

I love Future Trunks, and it's cool to see that the current timeline version grows up nearly identical to the Future variant. I too, Baris, would wear his fit. It's great how Trunks has a good friendship with Gohan, just like Future Trunks did.

Watching Goku get to be a Grandpa, everybody growing up, it's so good. Also cool tidbit here. Goku changed his Gi because his iconic orange outfit are the colors of the Turtle School. Goku is wearing his own colors now, which tells us that he is a master who is ready to take on a pupil (foreshadowing.)
It's not cannon, but in the dragonball online games that Krillin eventually takes the mantle of the Turtle School and becomes a teacher himself. And I don't care if it's canon or not, I love it, and it will forever live rent free in my head.

@@YungDripGod I highly doubt that anymore. Toriyama is notorious for forgetting what he has written or changing things altogether (cough Broly cough). She was 3 by the time Super Hero has happened and she's 4 here. So unless Goku and Vegeta manage to completely deal with every issue that is popping up in the manga within the span of 1 year I'm pretty sure this ending is getting retconned.

10 years spent since the death of Majin Buu but Pan came 5 years later. So technically she has 5 years in this episode and GT is 10 years later, which means 20 years later after Buu saga. So Pan in GT has 15 years old.

The time skip is actually 10 years, not 5. They have just seen each other off screen 5 years ago hence Bulma’s comment
The announcer will be around even at the end of Dragonball GT, when Pan is an extremely old woman. The entire series is arguably his saga.

@@pollomaniac The announcer in DBZ is the same guy as in original Dragonball, back when Goku was a kid. The announcer at the end of GT looks just like an elderly version of that announcer, and he sounds the same and acts the same. I don't see a whole lot of reason to assume that it's a descendant. Granted, he'd be implausibly old, but then again the president of the world is a corgi, so we're not exactly talking cinema verite here.

@@pollomaniac Yes, I know. And I say he's exactly the same person as was present when Goku first competed in a martial arts tournament when he was a child. While that would make him 120 years old or older, I think they decided to have fun with the idea that it's always the same announcer. And anyway, Master Roshi is over 300 years old, so the show doesn't have much of a problem with implausible life spans.
My thought process.
1. People talk about Dragon Ball
-I was like 5 when I first saw an episode, 4am Saturday
2.People talk about Dragon Ball Z
-I was still in middle school, My parents wouldn't let me stay up past 10pm

- I am up-in-age (35), and I am still watching DBZ content. Nice! Kid me-proud
Bulma didn't blink an eye when 12 year old Goku and Krillin competed in the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament.
The 24th World Martial Arts Tournament was the very first to feature a children's division- which was won by Videl. Hercule legitimately won that one. Trunks was the winner of the 25th World Martial Arts Tournament Children's Division.
I like the blue gi Goku wears. It's like his original outfit from DragonBall, and it's almost like a reverse colorway of his Turtle School outfit with the blue gi and orange sweatbands combo.
It's actually been 10 years, Bulma just said that she hadn't seen Goku in 5 years. Goten is 17 and Trunks is 18 and Gohan and Videl waited about 5 years before they had Pan and she is 4 years old. Hope that helps!😉
My only real issue with super is that they removed all the blood and violent scenes. Dbz had some pretty violent scenes. These are gone in super. I'm glad bleach is still as violent as ever

the manga arcs from dbs have a lot of potential and blood and so does the superhero movie there’s a chance there’ll be blood in the anime and that the arcs will be extremely good
Plus the art style is more cartoonie and they made everyone skinner
Super is gonna get more bloody, and it has it's reasons to tone it down, but I'm sure when the new season comes it'll be different.
Actually Dragon Ball Super manga is really brutal.
It was anime which sucks, cause it is made for aired in Japan around morning hours (about 8 A.M) for very young kids...

In Gohans defense….Goku and Vegeta are technically lowkey bums, they don’t have jobs or responsibilities. If it wasn’t for their wives they would have to find something to do. Gohan has to actually make a living for himself, which is want Chichi wanted for him and any mother would. Growing up I always saw Chichi as a nagging wife for restricting Gohan (which she still was to an extent) that but once I was older I saw she just wanted her son to see that he had more talent/options than just the one he was born with.
I don't know if Gohan needs to. Hercule is very rich, so he may throw money at his daughter and granddaughter.
@@deckzone3000 Yea at this point he doesn’t need to but obviously growing up no one ever assumed that he was going to marry a rich woman as well. So he was raised otherwise, studying to become brilliant, to a point where it became what he genuinely wanted to do regardless of money. So he basically ended up preparing his whole life to work for a living, to gaining wealth to a point where technically to work would be unnecessary but just does so because it’s actually something he takes pleasure in now.
I really love Goku's blue gi. It's my favourite out of all his gis because it's so different to what he normally wears.

The blue haired girl is Bulma and Vegeta's daughter, Bulla, or Bra in the Japanese version. Which follows the trend of Bulma's family have names that are puns for different types of underwear.
Pan is 3 or 4 years old at that time. Goku trained her :) She's such a mix of Gohan's anger as well Videl's temper as well Goku's innocence. Brilliant blend! She is Gohan and Videl's daughter quarter Saiyan. And for me personally... Gohan has always been my favorite character since I can remember, since the start. I do feel like they did him dirty at the end of Z.
Have to agree. He's so powerful, yet he doesn't fight much. Though I like what they did with him in the new movie. Gohan beast is very cool.

I know people have different opinions on this, but for me, Super is the authentic follow-up to Z and replaces GT entirely. GT had some interesting things going for it, but I ultimately view it as a failure. I'm fine with it being considered as a separate timeline though.
With that said, Super really changed a lot of the "canon" timeline to accommodate it, and if we are to believe Super takes place during the 5 years between the Buu saga and this episode, then nothing in these final episodes makes any sense. Bulma being mad about it being 5 years for one, but also there being absolutely no mention of those events and not having God ki (if GT were to follow Super, I really believe UI and UE are WAY stronger than SSJ4).
Otherwise, I do really enjoy the time skip. That's actually something I adore about shonen/action anime is when they do slice-of-life episodes. MHA is a great example where I just love watching them do their normal every day stuff, and Super delivers on that for the Z-characters as well.
With all that said though, this episode and the next were a breath of fresh air and I really liked and I am curious to see how (if ever) Super ties in to these episodes.
Goku gi has changed because he is basically a master of his own, he used the wear the same gi to honor his old masters, Grandpa Gohan, Master Roshi, Master Korin, Popo, Kami, King Kai, Whis, Beerus, etc.
Goku became the master in the Android saga.

This whole ending is gonna have to be retconned so hard in Super lol given that Bulma's used the dragon balls to look younger and they've also all kept in contact this whole time. Pan is 4 here btw, so same age as Gohan was when he faught with Raditz and started training with Piccolo. Also yeah, Buu is spelled Boo in Japan, and the dog Bee makes it a pair of BooBee lol. 10 years have lasted since Goku defeated Kid Buu with the Spirit Bomb and seeing Goku not coming to see Bulma for 5 years reminds me of the og Dragon Ball when Goku went off to train for 3 years after he fought the 7 last Dragon Ball and when he wished Upa father Bora back when he was killed by Mercenary Tao and when he came back Master Roshi told him to travel the world on foot and travel for 3 years fighting Shula the demon king at the time, etc. The second time he left for 3 years when Goku defeated King Piccolo and his father spit out an egg that contained Piccolo Jr aka Majunior aka Piccolo we know today, so that reminds me of Og dragon ball

Trunks's sister is known as "Bra" in Japanese. The whole joke with the family is that everyone's got underwear names: their surname is "Briefs", Bulma's name is essentially "bloomers", and then you've got Trunks and Bra.
Holy shit, for like 10 years I've been thinking that Bra was weird name because I kept thinking about the English word. But I never realized for Brief, Trunks and Bulma (maybe it never crossed my mind because I'm not a native english speaker). Bulma would have been hard to get though. In my country they translated Bra directly (not the romaji "Bulla"), yet Bulma wasn't Bloomer, so it's inconsistent.
@@xenotypos Toriyama never gave Bulma's mom a name in the manga or the anime, but in interviews, he has said that he would have called her "Panchy", which is like "panties".

I kind of wish Gohan was a little different than Goku as an adult. Same exact height and build everything but the haircut is exactly the same. I kind of wish they let him inherit some of his grandpa Ok King's size. Have him be like 4 in taller and a more filled out whenever he's keeping up on his training.

@@deckzone3000 I mean, the story was definitely primed for more, Uub, Pan. Goku was passing the baton over to the next saviour. He knew his family were settling into normality, but Earth needed a new saviour. The fact they even introduced more female characters, and a person of colour, was telling considering it was nearly 20 years ago. They were definitely being more inclusive and planning ahead imo. I know the main writer was tired. But the fact nobody continued writing and brought the franchise forward for essentially 20 years (until DBS) is so sad.
Super should be starting about this time.
