Ohhh, Salsa‘s Chaise Lounge! Such a great idea and way to show the spirit of gravel. Loved to hear that story. Amazing people, bikes and vibes at Mid South!
BMX races have always been confined to small manicured tracks, tho' to be sure the wild early days included a few downhill courses. BMX riding was always about riding everywhere and that definitely included gravel farm roads for me outside Fresno in '71 on my Schwinn Sting-Ray. And thanks, Ben, for visiting the display booths and showing us the completer at the start, cheers to him for finishing! 😀
I had a haro box bike as a kid. My brothers gave me a haro mountain bike for my wedding. Still have it 24 yrs later. Freaking loved both. Pumped for this bike.
Love this recap! Stellar content as always!!!! I'm still pumped from having attended this year's event as my first time. Was cool seeing Ben walking around in person! @12:54, at one point in the ride, I was riding along with this guy and a few of his mates. I can't believe I saw him wheelie down a steep, rocky stretch of road!!!!!!
When i win the lottery my first two purchases will be a Mosaic gravel bike and an Allied road bike. In that order. As a European those two brands are more or less unicorns. So a lottery win is needed 😂
Thank you. Those are Shimano S-Phyre Magnetic shades. 'Magnetic' in that the lenses pop on and off for easy swapping. Which is handy for travel. ride.shimano.com/collections/eyewear-all/products/ce-sphr2?variant=40014580711496
What do you think of the idea of making one size of carbon (or alloy) handlebar that comes apart like the Canyon bars that "fold" in order to pack down more compact? Could this not be the best way to make all handlebars that have integrated hoses? It seems to me that it would solve two problems: 1) packing the bike smaller and preventing breakage of the bars; 2) making the handle bar width infinitely adjustable, thereby reducing production and distribution costs.
If it could be done in a tidy way visually - and of course safely - then that could be a great solution. I was chatting with a Bicycling tech editor about how having an adjustable-length stem would theoretically be a similarly positive thing… but the chances of it being done in a way that doesn’t look big and clunky are low.
For a Gravel bike guru tester, would you still prefer your giant revolt as your top choice for gravel bike or do you think the new canyon grail has become the new winner? Considering the price, versatility and racing capability?
I already have the bike to do just that. With 1 disc brake at the front. I absolutely don’t have the level / skill / money to participate in a Gravel Race but at least I’m early on the GRAVLOCROSS thing 😎
Looks like fun. ...But so many bad paint jobs and even badder moustaches, giving ‘the spirit of gravel’ a bad name. So...hipster grunge gravel is so 2024? …At least it’s not all about the boring podium!
It's interesting that you now have China innovating and manufacturing composites at scale, the stuff that wins races, and in the US you have all these niche businesses that basically rely on froth, community, form over substance, much less skill, much less tooling, but much more branding. It's a form of death. Spending a fortune on a custom paint job on a steel frame welded in a garage while wearing stupid jorts and a handlebar moustache vs composite aero stiff frames and German rubber compounds. At least they're not making tyres at home yet, using hemp or whatever.
I don't understand "gravel season opener"? Gravel season is 12 months of the year... I've already completed/competed in 5 gravel races this year. Gravel 24/7/365 Baby!!!
These videos all seam to have way (way way) to much "face time", and no where near enough "product shot". Maybe in the future, give each face 5 seconds max, then spend minutes looking at the gear.
No mustaches were harmed in the making of this video.

Every year.. you manage to find the spirit of gravel. Thanks Ben for keeping it real.
Those pocket ride guidebooks look absolutely stunning! I'll be buying some in my next trip to the US.
Juan and the crew do a great job: graveladventurefieldguide.com/field-guides
12:09 Gravel Adventure Field Guides, surely THE spirit of gravel🤨
I had to buy two of those field guides immediately. What a great idea! Thanks for showing us all these vendors Ben. Keep this coverage coming!
Solid taste of the event, bike life, and that spirit of gravel thing.

Was great seeing you there. I really enjoy your videos
Killer coverage.
This was such a fun watch big love from Radelaide

Bmx
Those are some good brothers
Love your videos, especially this one highlighting new stuff. I didn't know about those guide books, Thanks for that. Will be ordering a few for sure

Great video! Meg Fisher is soo cool!
Brilliant ❤
Nice !!!
I NEED to know more about that HARO
Love it!
I enjoy all your content, all the variety, but I could watch these “gear” content vids for hours 👍🏼
As someone who spent most of my life riding black rides, I want now want more colour. So that Trek rainbow paint job is...awesome.
yeah it is. I wish they'd do a full run like that.
I need to know where to get a frame bag like that one featured on the Mosaic. Thnx!
What brand are those taillights at 4:34 from? Genius!
No idea, sorry. Just saw it hanging on a rack. Could well be a custom mod.

One of your better videos, in my option 😎
Carbon breed slipped away from me. Last one in the world and i let it go! 😡 Hey Ben, good to hear from you 😊
ben- any idea who makes the framepacks on the Mosiac bike?
No, but I will ask.
From Mark Currie at Mosaic: The bags on Adam's bike (Alpha Bicycle Studio) were custom made by Jpaks. www.jpaks.com/modpak-1
BMX Bicycle Moto Cross. Racing. 😀 history of bike.
Ben should have a handlebar staches
My wife votes no.
Mosaic's got jokes 😂
Great job as usual. What are the sunglasses you have on the helmet? love them

Hey, that’s me at nine minutes and 14-ish seconds
A contemporary subculture museum piece for the memory vault after the aliens find us and decide we've gone too far. :D
This race sells out the day entries are open?
It's a hot ticket.
That's the real Bike Fest!! Awsome vid like always!!Thanks for sharing 🙌🏼
That HARO bike rear tire clearance to the seat tube looks really tight. Not mud friendly.

I was going to say something about the moustaches, that seems like a bigger trend that fat tires.
Both my gravel bike and moustache is clearly inadequate
Nico Ur not a Ssp, U got 2 gears - - - Forward & Reverse ; -)
Fixies on Gravel Rock!
Moustache not aero lol 😂😅😅
I will never be cool enough to ride gravel 😂
Ahhh so the progression from SS is to fixed for gravel. Noted for 2025.

Haha! Fair enough. I've done a few of them too. Mid South is just the first big one in the US where a lot of folks come together.

Mostly junk, gravel bikes the most useless bikes ever made
Best quote (dumb shit on a track bike ) great video great event.😃🚵♀️
