For courses that have at least 70% dirt, and if I know the dirt isn't super chunky, I go with 45s. I've been using the Pirelli Cinturato GravelL H tires. Smooth rolling center and good tread on the outsides. For the upcoming Belgian Waffle Ride in San Diego, there's only 30% of the ride on dirt. So, I'm going to ride the same tire, but in size 40. For some of my local rugged trails where there's a ton of steep climbs, I have wheels with Reneherse's 48mm Oracle Ridge TC tires. During this race, the tire selection was pretty diverse. I saw many people on 38s and as big as 50.
@@kevinw3621 You’re 100% right! That was a big miss on my part, especially since I was passing close on the outer right side edge. There are times when I’m expecting riders to hold their line, but that’s not a safe assumption to go on. Lesson learned.
@@Metal_Face_Doom - it's also a race so you may have a reasonable expectation people know folks may be coming up.. Nice job all around and appreciate the video and your commentary!!!
Fantastic video, really enjoyed it! You were crushing it, man! I rode the 50 which at the time was my longest ride. I'm going to attempt the 100 next year I think although I'll be more at party pace.... who knows might even be DFL lol. Subscribed. I have my MS experience on my channel but it's a lot lot slower looking than your video haha
Thanks for the compliments and for watching! You should definitely do the 100 miler, you would get through it in no time at all. The Mid South has become one of my favorite gravel events. I'll check your channel out to view your MS experience! Cheers!
Great job! Really appreciate the coverage of travel, the pre-race events, and the narration. Hope to be there next year from North Carolina. My uncle rides in sandals. I don't get it.
Thanks for the compliment! If there's any gravel event worth traveling to, it has to be this one without a doubt! As a risk averse person, I cringe when I see people riding bikes, scooters, and motorcycles in sandals. 🤣
Great to watch - well done!
Congratulations!!! That was a super fun watch & inspiring!!! Thanks for sharing 🌟🙌🏼🚴🏻♀️
Thanks, man!
Well done video. Appreciated the dialog.....You made it look easy. Thank you for posting this.
Your video was fun to watch! Keep spinning!
what's your favourite tire setup? and what do most riders use on this race if you happen to know? Awesome video !

Good stuff! Did the Mid South in 2022. Loved it. Gotta get that Bobby hug.
I swear, I thought the hug thing wasn't true... until I got one when I finished! 🤣
Great video! What's your gravel bike set up?

stoopid computer
🤣 I'm still wondering why Ridewithgps did that! How on earth did it know there was a "road" back behind the killer shack!
