One of my favourite parts of this episode is the establishing shot of the huge wooden temple with what almost looks like a miniature of you crossing from left to right in front of it. That shot really shows us, your viewers, the immensity of the temple. Brilliant! On another note, it was fun meeting Karl. Your quiz competition was enjoyable. My wife who is Thai was drawn into that quiz as well. Good fun! dcb
It's really nice and beautiful however it's actually not a temple, but a museum. The tour guide told us and it's the same with the "temples" in Ancient City. They are museums but still amazing :)
Paddy, this is one of your best vlogs. I love the Sanctuary of Truth, which is certainly on my bucket list of places to visit when I get to Thailand in late summer. Absolutely stunning wood carvings and sublime spiritual energy.
Went to the Sanctuary of Truth about 14 years ago with the wife. 14 years and 3 daughters later I'm thinking of going back on my own for some peace and quiet.
i go to the Sanctuary of truth on almost every trip to thailand, its just an amazing space helps me to stay in awe of the amazing craftsmanship and has become a kind of ritual before i go home.
The wooden temple was beautiful.... I can't imagine all of the time put into it to carve everything. The flight at the end was so much fun! I would totally do that!!! 😁
I own a powered parachute plane in Michigan and it's so relatable to watch you loving it! I just got back from a month of motorbiking in Vietnam and planning Thailand in a few months. Thanks for this incredible motivation!!
Amazing temple, but oh my God, that flying contraption...you are braver than me. No way would I go up in that despite the fantastic aerial shots. Great video Paddy 👍🙂
Thanks for another awesome vlog Paddy! I have never thought of Pattaya as a “must -go -to” destination in Thailand for one reason or another but this video completely changed my mind! Definitely would love to check out the beautifully carved temple & you can’t beat the price of the hotel you stayed at! Cannot wait to see your next video 😊
Ow yeah, recognize the sanctuary of truth rules for the mic, had the same 😉 But when we were there they didn't have tours, we went almost at the end of the day 16:00, but what a beautifull place to visit, impressive 💪and not packed just a hand full of other tourists. The buffet restaurants, you can't go wrong mate, we loved them 😋 Interresting guy you interviewed Paddy. Bud Pattaya is not my cup of tea to stay longtime, the 5 days we had was okay, i love the slow laidback vibe more, but hey everyone can choose what they like 😊 That paraglide airplain thingy was awesome buddy 💪 Well you know what comes next 😉 As always, C Ya in the next one, cheers 🙌🍻
Because of employment ( 20 minutes commute) I lived in a condo with a beach view in Pattaya for over 15 years. And found the tourist city had all the Western conveniences ( shopping malls, international cuisine, good hospitals, a couple decent fitness centers …) along with a beach with beautiful sunsets and Pattaya bay being quite picturesque with the city lights reflecting off the water. True, the beaches of Koh Samui & Phuket are more beautiful but Bangkok is only over a 1 hour drive; whereas to get to the islands, you have to fly. Definitely eating out and lodging is cheaper in Pattaya than staying in Phuket or Koh Samui. Plus unlike Phuket, the public transport by tuk tuk ( baht bus) in Pattaya is stress free unlike dealing with the tuk tuk mafia in Phuket. Despite the bad rap the city gets with its “seedy” part there are plenty of family oriented venues to attend with kids and activities for couples such as island hopping, going on a day cruise, go cart riding, water parks, zip lining and hitting the night clubs. There’s a decent expat community in Pattaya and btw not everyone is a bar addict. ( Usually I was in bed by 10:00pm so avoided the crazy tourists after midnight 555) Definitely the resort town is changing which the “old timers” seem to grumble about.
I'm curious how long it took you to be able to safely drink the water in Pattaya. I talked to a Danish expat who lived there, and he said he was there around 20 years, and it took from about one to two years of adjustment for him to safely drink the water. I kept drinking bottled water there, and also had a camping-style charcoal water filter. Otherwise I loved that crazy town for the reasons you mentioned.
@@fredruhoff8576 The jugs of water are inexpensive. I think all over Thailand people do not drink out of the tap. I now live in Roiet city and it’s delivered to my house 10 baht each. The water is the least of my concerns in this country.
@@williamhartz8707 I didn't see many drinking fountains around there, either. If I get back there maybe it will be convenient and cheap to have a smaller bottle with me and refill it from larger jugs , or still pop into a 7-11 if needed. Different ways to do it I guess. Thanks for the reply!
@@fredruhoff8576 I never heard of anyone drinking tap water anywhere in Thailand, you sure he did that? At least he had some kind of filter I hope? You can still brush your teeth in it and no worries if you swallow some during a shower, but don't drink it.
@@laggmonstret I put the same advice you just gave into a UA-cam video I posted on my travels there. The hand-held charcoal filter (LifeStraw?) worked for sipping out of a glass. I just saw a video that showed those filters do a good job with bacteria, but don't get all of the viruses and toxins, which may be ok for short term, but long term? ...Something else to look into. The guy you referenced (the long time Danish expat) also chuckled when he told me that and never mentioned a filter, so who knows for sure? I also learned Bangkok cleans its water better, but it still goes thru the same dirty old pipes, so I think bottled drinking-water is the safest bet for the foreseeable future in Thailand.
This was another amazing video! The wooden temple was so incredibly beautiful, left me speechless! It's so nice to see you enjoying your travels 👍😎 I'm really curious to see what's the 'Next Level' destination! Thank you Paddy, and I hope you had a wonderful Birthday 🎉🎂🎈
Love your videos. I love seeing general areas that we don't get out and see. I'm blown away by the way you ride 125 cc everywhere and my next holiday adventure will be dedicated to your trips. Thank you
I’ve really become a big fan of watching your stuff Paddy. My wife comes from Krasang in the province of Buriram and we have traveled extensively all round Thailand although I’ve never been down south. Keep filming and I’ll keep watching, very professional at all times, cheers Dave.
13 years ago the sanctuary of truth guide told me it would take 10 years before the sanctuary would be finished. Seems like a never ending project. I like that. For me the nicest temple ive seen in thailand.
Unbelievable Temple, truly beautiful. Pattaya looked like a lot of fun and good on you getting up and flying around beautiful views , I can imagine it felt great being up there . Thanks 🙏 paddy’s again for an awesome Vlog Nice to see some other UA-cam’s discuss about Pattaya. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
My flights home from Bangkok got pushed back 2 days so im off to Pattaya and will follow this video as my guide - booking in to Arden and will visit the temple and do the fan parachuting, cannot wait
Hiya Paddy, Congratulations. 69K. Roll on 100. Wow. What a spectacular Temple and carvings. I am already subscribed to Karl's channel. Nice bloke. Good vibes. Oi, Oi, saveloy. You never fail to make me smile. You got some balls doing that. I am scared of heights. So no chance I would get on that. Amazing views. Great experience. Nice to see a different side to Pattaya. Great video. Thank you for sharing. Have a lovely day.
Sanctuary of Truth is actually not a place of worship. So maybe it'd be better to define it as a museum istead of a temple. But i agree with you. It's really a magical place. I really envy you now. When i was there, there were literally hundreds of people. I could not get a single photograph without people in it. And to the question "Why Pattaya?" Well the answer is obvious but it's not easy to accept it in front of a camera. Many will say they have friends, a community etc. but these are all minor reasons. Pattaya is the biggest adult party town in the World and that my friend is the reason why 99% of the expats in that city chose to live there.
You are an inspiration Paddy! I have watched so many of your videos and you really have whet my appetite for coming over. I arrive on Monday 27th in Bangkok and then I am off to Pattaya on Saturday 4th March and I am flying on that same paramotor. Cheers Bill
Sanctuary of Truth is just Epic, first visited twenty five years ago. Love Carl and the quiz show. I have lived in Pattaya, I am with you Paddy thinking Samui is my next home. The ultra lights next level for sure. Another awesome video Paddy.
Pattaya is my FAVORITE! Lots of cheap hotels, lots of cheap food, super easy to get around with songthaews for 10 baht, play pool everyday with cute girls, watch the sunset over the ocean, go to Ko Lan for the weekend, go to Bangkok another weekend, Central Festival, Terminal 21, Walking Street, Tree Town, and a few more things I'm sure I'm forgetting. It's just so convenient.
Great video Paddy. I lived in Pattaya for a couple of years and didn’t experience what you did. Thanks for showing us another side of the infamous city.
Speechless, Paddy. Sanctuary of Truth is over the top. Saw amazing vlog of it 6 months ago-inspiring, breathtaking place, definitely top 3 - a must see someday. And that flight, you crazy wild man!
There was a room in the sanctuary with lots of faces I found quite eerie did u get a chance to go through the workshops just amazing place oh thank God for your channel I miss you Thailand cheers👍🛵
Lots of unique, lovely things in this. Building a work of art that takes at least half a century to finish to create a modern work of art for everyone to enjoy while keeping alive art forms. Your friends early adventures in a more 'wild' Thailand time period. Then you up in the sky when you have a fear of heights and showing us all that lovely place from the sky. - Hope Vietnam is treating you to more lovely life moments.
Your best video so far, Paddy! I have visited Sactuary of trutt a few times and it is so huge and impressive, love it! And all respect for you to dare to fly that tiny thing in the air, great video! I look forward for more of your videos from Pattaya. 👍
Another great blog Paddy! Loved the temple and flying thing!! So glad you found the side of Pattaya that everyone loves, really seems like you truly enjoyed this trip.

Yes, Pattaya has almost everything in this city. Too scary for me up there but quite nice experience! The good thing, even the engine stops, you still can land some where unlike plane.
PD. It will be interesting to see how you like Pattaya. Surprised you had not been there before in your many years in Thailand. I went there twice in my years living in Thailand. Both times with the intention of living in Pattaya. Even though I enjoyed it, both times after two weeks I'd had enough and returned to where I was living in Thailand at the time. I can't really explain it. Maybe I found it a touch impersonal. But maybe I'll give it another shot oneday.
Great vlog Paddy, that flight was amazing, looked so much fun 😎 I stayed in Pattaya for a birthday celebration,I wasn’t looking to it but as you say,it’s full of hidden gems 💎
it's not just about nightlife. let's not forget in Pattaya, it's home to Fairtex gym, a global Muay Thai empire. one of the biggest brands in martial arts. its Training Center have supplied & endorsed many popular world class Muay Thai fighters like Stamp Fairtex, Yodsanklai Fairtex..... if you love martial arts, you will know One Championship fights (brainchild of Chatri Sityodtong)
Good shout to go on the paramotor flight. When I was 13 I got to go in a glider and then about 21 (way back in '94) I did an introduction to paragliding. I've been interested in flying most of my life but the chance to do it properly has yet to happen. Contemplated paragliding for a long time and still quite interested, and safety has come a long way in the last (ahem) almost 30 years, including reserve emergency chutes, but I am drawn to autogyros, or gyrocopters as they are also, another form of 'microlight' aircraft. Some day...some day...
Went there with my wife and mother-in-law. Also went to Viharn Sien Chinese temple & museum which . Paddy Doyle missed. Just outside Pattaya. Original is in Beijing

The Sanctuary of truth is unreal. Was there 3 yrs ago. Fantastic design.
Good Vid Paddy. Good to look at things other than the bar scene in Pattaya
That flight was fantastic. Looks like a lot of fun! all open... no cabin! Good job
I was there, Pattaya, in '85, '86, and '88. USMC on a USN ship. We always spent a week in the jungle before a few days of liberty in Thailand. It was freaking AWESOME. Watching the videos, Thailand sure has changed. PI has changed too!
This might be your “CB media longtail boat 2.5 million views” video right here.👍🏿
Paddy your content is getting better and better. I see you’ve up graded your sunglasses 😎. Glad you’re doing well thanks for your videos and great content!
Great stuff Paddy, when you went up I was scared for you...LOL glad you enjoyed it.
Great video Paddy.
The sanctuary of truth has been on my to do list and you're the number one temple expert on UA-cam.
Karl seems like a top bloke.
I did a similar thing on the same bike Honda MTX 125 in the north in 1988 .
I'll never forget it was a great experience.
Best Pattaya video I've seen in a longtime.
Lots to do in Pattaya. Excellent review Paddy.

Oh Paddy! You overcame your fear of heights??? HOW on EARTH did you DO that?
Congratulations!
Yeah I know, I seemed to have brushed the fear off
The highlight was talking to Karl about the "old days ". Would love the hear more stories & photos of his travels back in the day. I first arrived in Thailand back in 1993 & it changed my life.
I subscribed to his channel to hear more!
Nice video adventures...Karl had some good stuff!
Just back from 5 days in Jomtien. Very quiet. The Grand Florida was empty, but super water facilities.
Yes, Pattaya has almost everything in this city. Too scary for me up there but quite nice experience! The good thing, even the engine stops, you still can land some where unlike plane.
It reminds me of cathedrals in Europe. How beautiful ❤️

Great vlog Paddy, that flight was amazing, looked so much fun 😎
I stayed in Pattaya for a birthday celebration,I wasn’t looking to it but as you say,it’s full of hidden gems 💎
Hands down the best Temple I have ever seen . They can keep the gold leaf and show me the wood.

I have a friend who also went to the flight place in Pattaya, and she was raving on how awesome it was. I think I should also give it a go!
Hey Paddy great vlog thanks for sharing
Really enjoyed the flight!
So it was you on Monday afternoon flying over my condo n jomtien? Nice
Hey Paddy Now you know what Sparky feels like when you send them up in the air to get those shots
Wow, I love your channel. Thanks
Went there with my wife and mother-in-law.
Also went to Viharn Sien Chinese temple & museum which . Paddy Doyle missed. Just outside Pattaya. Original is in Beijing
