I've spent my whole life building things I could've bought. It always costs you. Though building your own isn't about saving money. The process, the learning, the project and the satisfaction keep me building. So good job. You could have bought one but you built one. Well done.
Thanks so much. I’m a pretty handy guy and have the time and space but your honesty has changed my mind. Still looking for a 27ft heavy gauge aluminum fishing boat!!!!
Excellent vid mate!! I have been kicking around this idea for a while and there are few things that you have been really helpful in clearing up. The reality of the time and consumables is a huge factor and has helped me make a decision to buy a nice secondhand and custom adding rather than full new build. I am keen for a project but the advantages are not reality for me. I am glad that they were for you it's a killer boat!! Thanks again greatly I feel this video has saved me a whole lot of money lol....maybe
Thanks heaps mate really appreciate your comment. Yea it is a very hard one, like its very doable- but god there is so much more to it than i expected to be totally honest haha! Financially and time wise as for saving money... I think we both know its just been re-allocated hahahaha!!! Saving money and boats are total opposites haha!
That’s brilliant, you cannot buy a boat of that size with that setup for anywhere close to that amount, certainly the way to go! What would you change now if you could go and redo anything?
Thanks for the epic video Matty!! One day when your in lockdown or the weathers shit could you please do a walk around of ya boat , I've watched all your build videos an would love too see abit more of it cheers mate
Hey Dan, Absolutley mate!!!! Ive got a few more about the boat on the way! I will put a priority on doing a walk around one!!!! Cheers for following along mate really great to have you apart of the channel!
Great video Matt! An honest representation of what it takes to DIY a boat…for that matter anything DIY. Costs aside, there’s probably the roller coaster of emotions of the build itself. Anyway, as stated great vid, that’s for all your videos as well.
Great video bro. Amazing how it adds up so quick, I was shocked and the figure at the end. Fair call on the time factor too. If I was doing it and it was gonna take 4 hours it would prob take me 12.5hrs lol
Oh absolutley mate that is the truth of it hey! I was the same... 100% the biggest eye opener/ lesson I got out of it was the amount of time things took haha!! Hope you are going really well mate
Hi Matt, great video. Can you tell me the gauge of Aluminium used for hull (bottom/sides) pls? Do you see issues with 5mm bottom and 4mm sides? Thanks Tony
Hey Tony From memory, Im pretty sure the bottom/ transom was 6mm, Sides etc were 5 Everything else was 4. The framework under the floor is pretty epic I can’t see any problems mate everything is really well supported.
thank you, by mater of speech, I will get you to make mine and pay for it, no problem and you will do by far, a far better job than me, I can lay "birdshits" for welds, thank you for a very interesting videos

Almost all UA-cam channels are Full Of S*** with their sponsored boats. You have been completely honest and helped many people with your videos 👍😁
Thankyou for the kind feedback,
Exactly what I was aiming for I appreciate that,
Cheers Matt

Thanks for sharing your experience. Does not include shop rent cost.
Absolutely, that could also be another hidden cost!
Hey Marty whatever the hell you do for a crust I want a gig doing that too🤘
Hahahaha!!!
For what its worth legend I did not pay cash for all of it haha!
And as you can imagine...I spend alot of time at work! Haha!!
Thanks mate
Thanks Matty.
Do you have any idea what the boat and trailer would have cost if you bought them ready made.
Hey mate..
Hard to say as so much of it depends on the builder and build quality.
I wouldnt be able to guess mate, sorry haha
@@MattyRacingLife No problem Matty. Thanks for the reply.
I am from United states. I was wondering if the cost is in Australian dollar or US dollar?
It will be AUD.
