- Eric Senseman is no stranger to Black Canyon, a 100-kilometer footrace in central Arizona. He's also no stranger to failure. In his fifth running of the race, Eric, a professional runner for rabbit, failed to achieve his goal of earning a golden ticket and returning to Western States. NOT A BAD THING chronicles Eric's race this year, in which he shares his outlook on racing, failure, and the importance of differentiating between race outcomes and self worth. In Eric's words, 'You don't just get better at something by constantly succeeding.' In other words, failure, in its essence, is not a bad thing."

We could adapt his quote to fit all of us "You have to put yourself in a position to meet your goal and if you are not fit enough, this is where you end up" - I love that!! I can think of so many times I didn't have the words to say that but that's what I was thinking. Brings a bit of realism and levity to the moment.
Eric, your journey in life is incredibly inspirational. Always remember that.

Jason, I love your screen name… so you use a treadmill sometimes? You might really get into virtual trail running if you check it out!
Everyone's running too fast from the start even the women's field. What happened to elites advice and coaches not to run fast from the start but yet everyone's blowing up trying to outrun anybody at sight. Anxiety from start. Does the strategy to hold back 16miles in not the right approached? Easily goes out the window.
Spelling error at the start 'recieving' should be spelt 'receiving.'
