- On May 2nd, 2021, Dylan Bowman attempted to set a new Fastest Known Time on Southern California's famous Backbone Trail. This 67 mile route has roughly 13k' of elevation gain and traverses the coastal mountains between Santa Monica and Malibu. This was a key milestone in Dylan's training for the Hardrock 100 in July. Here's the story of how it played out. In short, it was an incredible day!

Amazing ! What an amazing endeavour. I'm really excited to see about a trail I plan to hike, that I have little to no idea about, and will watch it a few times in the near future. It looks like there are some exposed sections of the trail, and it is totally important to know that::so I am totally appreciating this, even though I can't afford to sponsor right now. I hope the run recovery went well.
I look forward to stopping in at the two offices and stations, and checking out the trailheads.

Dylan, such an amazing job! The trails remind me of The Marin Headlands and the Miwok/coastal trail a bit. The weather seems cool near the ocean, but it can still get you. You bring such a positive attitude to the community and your podcast is always amazing. Keep up the good work and I look forward to following your hardrock attempt!

Epic video and effort Dylan! I did this as an event organized by master connector @billyyang in March. It's definitely harder than it looks especially with the elevation gain and how exposed the route is in long stretches Major kudos on the FKT!

I felt like that after my run today...but was the opposite of the FKT...one of those days when my body was having none of it...you are the complete package and inspire me on days like today when I think th idea of old me ever running an ultra is delusional....amazing run. @@Freetrail thank you! I have the Infinite ones, but wanted to try those. I feel like the Vectiv Infinite lacks of ankle support, I noticed the ones you wore are a bit different in the ankle
@@vitalogy297 Yeah, the upper has bit more structure to it, so it feels more supportive around the ankle. Great shoe IMO -- I'll wear it at hardrock.
