I'm a huge fan (even outside of the realm of golf) of giving gifts that are experience-driven and memory-making. I just feel like they're vastly superior to things that will go on a shelf and collect dust, or at the very least take up space and require storage. That's why I love giving food as gifts too; it can be enjoyed and then it's not cluttering up your life forevermore. Time is your most precious possession and you can never get it back, memories occupy no shelf space but they're worth more than any material possession.
Vouchers, as lame as they may seem on first thought, are excellent gifts. My wife loves getting them and so do I. You’re right, golfers are extremely picky about all of their gear and accessories. I stay out of trouble when I get vouchers for my wife or our two sons who golf.
Don’t take this the wrong way but how can you think vouchers are a good gift. Wat you have done is taken real money that you can spend anywhere at anytime with no time limits or stipulations and have got a voucher that is redeemed at a single store within a set time limit without any change given back if you don’t use all of said voucher. Maybe I’m just looking at it wrong but that’s my view on it
Could not stop laughing at the last gift mentioned on there. Absolutely agree with your assessment of gifts list. New to the channel so watching back all of your previous videos and smashing the like button - can't believe you've not got at least a million subs yet. Live streams where the audience can chat to you about all things golf would be the awesome .
Last Xmas I got golf shoes, vouchers for lessons with my usual golf pro and finally a voucher for my club's golf pro shop. I didn't stop smiling for days. The rumour mill suggests I'll get a repeat this year; I'm starting to smile already....
Been a huge fan of yours since you kind of broke on to the scene with Little Ricky, but I forgot you were a Seahawks fan! Been a rough few years hovering around.500, but better times ahead! May 2023 be the best year yet! My wife, aka, “The Decision Maker”, got me a Titleist Driver fitting, a Rapsodo MLM, a couple rounds at a really nice club down the street, and some new Footjoy Tour Alpha Boa’s. She did well this year!!
Think the list was fairly spot on. Especially in the Avoid category. Certain items are certainly going to be very personal choices. The golf score card holders I have used in the past, but with a few different designs and sizes some of which will fit in a pocket. As golfers we know which type we would choose, should we want one. Bags again are such a personal thing and these days can be an extremely expensive gift. I know what I like and what I don’t like in golf design. If someone were to buy me a golf bag I think a retro Sunday/Pencil Bag would be on my wish list. Simply because I have a couple of stand bags already (one of which I hate) and a cart bag I have had for years and love. And don’t really need another. But over the winter and on days where I want to nip round and save my back and not bothered to put a trolley in the boot. One of those retro canvas half set bags would be useful and look cool (at least to me) One potentially useful gift I saw recently was a racking organiser system that could hold a couple of golf bags plus essential items. Could see one of those in the garage next year. A great present would always be golf umbrellas and golf towels. Near enough any golf club cleaning kits.
Not gona lie, the goofy blue glasses to find your ball actually work sometimes, unless there are leaves on the ground, I've had the same pair for like 20 years and my buddies and I get a good laugh of out them, however if you know generally where your ball landed and stick them bad boys on, you will often be better off than normal eye sight! If it finds 1-2 pro vs hey I say it's worth it. The laughs alone are worth it!
Greetings from the home of the Seattle Seahawks! We LOVE our international 12's!! This is by FAR the funniest golf video I have ever watched! I'm sending this out to my ENTIRE family!!
I don't have space in my apartment to fully swing a golf club and the nearest practice area is more than an hour away. I'm actually kinda excited for the putting mat I've ordered. Gives me at least something to do when I can't make it to the course/training area that day/week.
Gonna have to argue with ya on the scorecard holder. As someone who carries primarily, I hate having things in my pockets while walking/playing, the holder is perfect for the card, notes and holding the pencil. Stick it in a pocket thats handy while walking and you can write down as you walk. Not to mention it keeps the card in good shape.
I got some personalized tees for father's day this year, they said "Best Dad by Par" on them and I honestly loved them. Could easily turn this into a Christmas gift since it's something every golfer will need more of at some point.
I never really thought about the differences between golf etiquette in the US and the UK, I always turn my music off before I get close to anyone but maybe that could be a good video idea.
@@only_son5040 Same. I'm in the South and I often listen to political podcasts when I play alone (like I just did today). I honestly have no idea where Finch got the idea that people blast music on golf courses in the U.S. I might hear golfers playing music once in a blue moon. It's not a regular thing.
Iron covers can be handy to prevent your irons banging against each other and against the hybrids/woods in your bag when carrying the bag on your back.
I got bought the toilet putter for Father’s Day. I don’t use it in the bog, but I took it into the office. If someone asks me for a favour, I get them to putt from 3 yards and if they sink 2 out of 3 then I’ll help them. :-)
Scorecard holder is not meant for your back pocket, but for the scorecard holder in your bag. Also, they provide a solid surface on which to write in case you’re not using a golf cart with steering wheel holder.
Not sure if anyone will see but I do have a use for iron covers: travel. Without knowing much abuse a bag may receive in-transit, I think some cheap iron covers are a sort of insurance isn't a bad plan.
Our course is using winter fairway mats and I've been given an early Christmas present of a spurk mat. It has gripping spikes on the bottom and is excellent.
If you want a great all around golf bag, go for a Big Max. Good quality and the stand bags have a notch in the base to allow them to sit on most trollies without it twisting or the stand mechanism getting in the way.
I got my first half set when I was 6. A red pencil bag, styx 5 wood, 4,6,8,PW and a putter. Then when i was 13 I got the best wilson red/white carry bag with a kingslaw trolley. When 16 I got a Titleist black and white carry bag with Titleist black head covers to match. Ironic didn't have Titleists. Then when I was 24 I got a new Stand bag and the golf snob came and showed its ugly head, a Penfold Stand Bag. Try returning this on boxing day sales to be left with a hippo blue cart bag which was OK. I then bought golf bags myself after that, although a couple of Christmas's I did get a black/yellow powakaddy cart bag. Last year got the powakaddy lite push 3 wheel from my mum and dad. I still feel awful for the ungrateful face on Xmas morning when i was faced with a burgundy penfold golf bag, it is still my only regret.
Two of the best golf gifts I ever received was a cart cover (for keeping warm when golfing in cold weather) and a push cart (I chose the specific one I wanted).
ones of those sets of clubs behind you will do for my present Pete, you know you don't need all of them. a nice forgiving set as i am needing a decent easy playing set as i am a complete novice. love the content , cheers.
Hi Pete, even though you showed iron covers (no thanks) I was surprised you didn't mention Driver/Fairway/Hybrid covers. Best gift for me were custom made headcovers from Glam Golf in Sheffield. Whilst I can't send you a picture you can imagine a Driver headcover with an image of from Scarface and the words " Say Hello to my Little Friend ". Priceless.
Rick way to keep your head in the game --- you said it right --- you didnt let the double bogy get in your way --- i wonder if your poor strikes are better strikes because you are hitting the ball better --- just a thought. I am enjoying this journey!!! Great round!!!!
Unknown to my Dad (single figure h/c at the time), my Mum went out and bought me a new set of woods (1, 3 & 5) for Christmas when I was in my late teens. Still have no idea where she went but the last 6-7inches of the shafts were half the diameter of the rest of the shaft (I presume as a kick point)!. Both my Dad and I thought she had gone mad but I grew to love them, until my brother in law broke one on the range.
I do use the hand glove form. I put my glove on it after my round and tuck it back into a side pocket in my golf bag. Keeps my glove dry and shaped. My husband doesn't use his and his glove looks like poop if he can find it. I would add a golf shoe bag. When I change into my golf shoes I put my shoes in them and switch back out.
I got a launch monitor as an early present, so much fun. Only problem is I'm crazy sore every day. I just upgraded my hitting mat from a $25 used range mat to a country club elite though, it is like hitting off a cloud in comparison. Should help out with the aches.
Ooooo what about the motorised putting machine the one thats usually a big block of plastic and when you hit the ball up to it over the front it fires it back at you?
Best I've ever gotten was a nice golf bag. But, to be really honest I had specified the brad, the colours and ever where to buy it from ;-). Now this year, I'll get even better... A nice new set of well fit irons. From me, to me... The best golfing present there is, bar none!
I asked my golfing buddy why he had covers on his irons and the answer was, "so they don't make so much noise bouncing around." I got some because, like you, I just spent $1000 usd on a new set and I really like the larger numbers on the covers... makes them really easy and fast to get the club I'm wanting. Just my 2cents.
Thank you Pete. Why I chose you (or was it Fryer) as my favorite golfer on Shiels channel. Wife got me some goofy practice putting golf balls last year. Sort of a poor-man's Callaway Chrome Soft alignment stripe. Would have rather had the Callaway's.
Clearly you've never played in Tennessee (or anywhere else with high heat and humidity) in August! Gloves get soaking within a few holes. I can go through three per round easily. Glove dryer FTW.
Golf clothing. It's difficult to justify paying the price of high quality golf clothing items for yourself but it does often put them into the category of a really nice present. Just recently my wife insisted on getting my the Footjoy rain jacket for a present, not the cheap one off Amazon I was going to get. I also like most of PXG's clothing but, again, pricey for me but a great present because family knows I'll wear the crap out of it.
As far as the glove drier goes I guess it depends on where you live. I know in the summer I carry at least 2 gloves in the bag at all times because I sweat through 1 by the 9th.
I got a golf experience at a nice resort near me in south Florida with a caddy, drinks , food , the whole bit . I smoked 2 joints with my caddy , drank at least 8 cocktails, shot an 87, and I would do it everyday if I could.
I have a couple of mates that I have tried to get them the perfect golfing gift. Unfortunately I have been unsuccessful in having our 4th banned for life from Golf Courses Globally. Not even R&A would entertain my petition. Actually, there could be a real market for this gift. Stay tuned for Patent Pending updates! Love the Chanel Pete. Have a Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year.
A lot of great ideas on that list and the avoid items all I can say is wow . Iron covers for me are nice, but not as a gift. I like them just cause I do not like to hear the clubs banging together and as we tend to spend a lot of money on our irons, I don’t want them beat up while not being used.
for those who want to play some sort of golf video game and have a nintendo switch: try mario golf or switch sport (no, i'm not kidding). you have to actually do a golf swing and it's surprisingly realistic and fun. you can even hook and slice. so i felt right at home.
Ok, honesty here - I bought some of those golf "finding" glasses (moment of insanity). They do actually highlight the ball, but also every single leaf or discarded scorecard or infact anything else - so, do they work - yes, are they any use - no 🙂
There are a few YT videos on this comparison and the R10, despite its price tag does remarkable well. I bought the R10 and for around $1100 have a sim in my garage. I play on it everyday and the numbers are bang on. Garman has come a long way with the R10 especially with the software updates they are doing.
The potty putting game has been making the rounds in our extended family’s white elephant Christmas for years and nobody that gets stuck with it has ever opened it and just re-wraps it for the next year. We try to hide it in different boxes so nobody knows what it is. I currently have it and it’s wrapped up to get rid of it this year. 😂
My Brazilian wife always accuses me of suggesting vouchers as a gift. She says it's impersonal and lazy, she'd rather buy a gift and the person can go exchange it if they want. But I think vouchers are awesome, it eliminates the product exchange and gives the person the freedom to choose and pay in more if they want something more expensive.
Most useful golf gift I ever got? A carbide tipped groove cleaning pencil for wedges. Doesn't scratch the face all to hell like a wire brush, and it's miles better than just using a tee. Second most useful: properly fitting gloves. My hands are 11.5 inches, and a standard "L" size glove fits like I borrowed it from my 4 year old daughter.
My mother-in-law had my son pick out a random 2$ golf club at goodwill as a xmas gift. Oh, thanks. I'll fit this (looks at club) 1985 Spalding pitching wedge with a mostly chewed off grip into my bag right away. *retch*
Haha when you look at the guys in the pee club ad they all have something in common, they’re of an older generation. Probably have to ‘go’ a lot more than we would 😂
Hi! I’m Sarah here in Texas. I really enjoyed this vid. I came on looking for a gift for my Bro n Law. He’s been such a huge refuge through this last yr. I have idea what he’d like. I wanted to find something that doesn’t reflect my bank balance- 😅 This stuff, I think is for me right now but thanx! Just wrote this to tell Y’all made me smile and I find golf not so bleh… OH! 😮 is that like golf sacralise? 😅😅😅

In the USA we generally call them gift cards but I figured out what Pete meant.

I got a new stand bag a couple of years ago and it is the most used gift that anyone in my house uses. Love it!

Watching this was the first time I realised that Pete is a Seahawks fan aswell, just 1 more reason to like him 💙💚
Magnificent video man. Always good for a laugh over here. Happy holidays to you and the crew!
It's Christmas
@@blucat1405 to you. Could be Hanukkah for some on his staff. Or festivus for all you know. No need to thump your Bible on here.

IRON Covers, use them to keep the noise down as do most golfers I know, also protects them in travel

OMG, the pee club was funny. The 3 guys standing side-by-side in the advert is just hilarious. 😂😂😂

Iron covers are needed when you are traveling with your clubs. Otherwise, no.
Did you know they sell plastic wrap for your couch? It's totally awesome, keeps everything off it.
The only question: does the URO Club count towards your maximum? Which club will you sacrifice for it? And can you use it, empty and full, to play?
Very good - last gift idea brought tears to my eyes. Lol!
Scorecard holder is not meant for your back pocket, but for the scorecard holder in your bag. Also, they provide a solid surface on which to write in case you’re not using a golf cart with steering wheel holder.

I’m still sort of new to the game of golf, so the novelty golf balls are great for when I know that I need to hit over a river or a pond.
I have iron covers for the off-season and when I move or travel with my clubs. Good item for the purpose.

Hey pete, great video. Appreciate your transparency with the brands that sponsor you.
Looking forward to using the golf ball finding glasses my wife got me for Xmas 😂
Merry Christmas Peter, thanks for all the great content
My favorite gift was a Scotty putter for my birthday. I got it for myself.. 5 months before my birthday. Probably the perfect gift. :)

Scorecard holders are awesome! Love mine
I just got a new set of irons for an early Christmas present and I think I will get a new bag to boot. I love golf gifts!

The thing i was thinking about wasn't in your video,,,,,head caps ,, a nice Ping head cap lol 😆
I have iron covers as I just dropped over£800 on Custom fit irons. £400 drivers come with covers and nobody ever says they are a bad idea
I asked my golfing buddy why he had covers on his irons and the answer was, "so they don't make so much noise bouncing around." In Texas I use two gloves a round in the summertime, I’d definitely use those glove dryers 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

The glove dryer would be great for summer golfers in the southeastern US. Extremely hot summers + 100% humidity = extremely sweaty hands 😂
"no offense to anyone using a dunlop DDH but you need to change" made me chuckle too much 😆
The worst gift I ever recieved was a Rick Shiels chipping lesson.🤣More duffs than the Simpsons bar

Golf bag is great. But my wife bought me a Helix travel bag. It has wheels and I always cart when possible. Conversations I’ve had about this bag🤦♂️
Honestly I'd like the novelty golf balls or the gag balls that explode or don't fly straight. I find that stuff hilarious!
"Holing the putt" is my new euphemism for a #2.

Can you do a comparison between the GC quad and the R10. It would be interesting to see how the R10 compares seeing it is a fraction of the price

Then it's actually funny. And by now whoever initially bought it will understand it's fit only for the crapper.
What about those mats that help you see your swing trajectory? They're all I see on the internet being advertised
Loved it, thanks Pete!
Nay worries
Uro club is elite …. Fill with spirit of your choice and off you go 🥃👏🏻
Most useful golf gift I ever got? A carbide tipped groove cleaning pencil for wedges. Doesn't scratch the face all to hell like a wire brush, and it's miles better than just using a tee. Second most useful: properly fitting gloves. My hands are 11.5 inches, and a standard "L" size glove fits like I borrowed it from my 4 year old daughter.
Pete, which footjoys/color is that shoe with the gold spikes? Looking mint!
My mother-in-law had my son pick out a random 2$ golf club at goodwill as a xmas gift. Oh, thanks. I'll fit this (looks at club) 1985 Spalding pitching wedge with a mostly chewed off grip into my bag right away. *retch*
I've got a Batman scorecard holder but I've never used it haha, just an ornament
Nice entertaining video. Thank you
Love the shout out to Ace from Fried Eggs Golf Whoop Whoooop!
Haha when you look at the guys in the pee club ad they all have something in common, they’re of an older generation. Probably have to ‘go’ a lot more than we would 😂
That Uro Club thing I was laughing my head off 🤣, how does something like that even exist. The NFL team balls are cool, Go Bills.
“It’s childish and it’s not funny” I might just get the rude tees for my friend😂😂
So iron covers are Meh. How do you rate covers for woods, hybrids and putters then?
Which club do you remove to put Uroc;lub in bag
When I was younger, I got my dad the ball finding glasses. Now, I know they're real bad, and that was a slap in the face gift.
well 2nd best - trackman the leader, no matter how much things tried to be turned. Numbers and test don´t lie on those 2 devices :)
I hate that I have iron head covers but my irons are black and matte so if I don’t use them they get really scuffed up.
