My favorite way to fish here on the Texas gulf coast is trot lining. We are allowed 100 hooks in the water. I only keep what i need for my family and usually keep a bit extra for people fishing from shore or docks that show up with kids. I like to think that i can help put food on the table if they haven't had a good catch to take home. I am always sure to choose my words carefully and make it seem like they are doing me a favor for lightening the work i have to do.

Another belting video, got 2 mins in and noticed it was 30 mins long so paused and went and made a brew. I've never had a Gilthead, my time will come! Love those early morning sessions, that dawn chorus from the birds is amazing. Look forward to the catch and cook video.

I am indeed it's my right arm ...casting , my son taking me out next sunday , I will cast out for you dad just want to be out there again , love your chanel all of it . From the boat to cook ups and diving , really great chanel. Learnt a lot from it 😁👍

Another great video. Glad you mentioned the importance of staying quiet in shallower waters. Even sea fish know when there's a boat after them. When drifting down the wind for trout on large reservoirs I often spot pods of the decent fish 50m downwind sense the boat and split round it, even when we are in 'run silent, run deep mode' . Fish off the stern or the bow and you'll catch them as they pass you, but the water in front is dead. If we are at anchor early season and me or my mate drop anything we'll look at each other and lift the anchor, knowing that the fish we're after will have moved off.If I had my own boat I'd carpet it!

You might have thought that the camera facing the sun was bad but it's a beautiful beginning to the vid. The Sun, The Earth, and the boat wobbling about allows the mind to see the planets in motion amidst a man fishing on a planet in the universe.

loving the channel , I have been fishing on and off most of my life ,a lot of fishing abroad but not so much here In the UK as I always felt I was doing a lot of casting and not much catching .I live in a similar area of the country N.devon, so your channel has really given me inspiration to target species rather than just leave it to luck . my kids also love the foraging videos ,thanks.

Hi Whitby lad. Nice to see you out fishing again. Interesting video. You are so lucky to have such a great variety of marine life down there. As you know, back home its usually cod or nowt! A friend did catch a black bream in my boat a few years ago. Possibly the only one to ever visit Filey bay.

- I’ve seen pictures of Giltheads caught off the beach up a Redcar/Tees Bay. So they do make it up there occasionally.

@@TheFishLocker Absolutely. I live on a narrowboat and have spent the last couple of months on my winter mooring with the canals closed, but its an idyllic rural spot with monster carp in the pool here.
What a cracking days fishing, Rarely get conditions like that in the Thames estuary but it's lovely when you do, lovely eating them Bream wish we got them here, great vid as usual, thanks.

@@TheFishLocker Dont think i've ever heard of any, a bit further south around the corner at Margate/Ramsgate they get a few but in the estuary proper (Canvey Island) where i live/fish i think its a bit too silty for them, plenty of Bass though lol

Ive never been a very active angler but just started fishing again, a few years after i took my son on his first of many trips on our local pond and river.
Really enjoying myself 'floating' on my near river The WEY. I'm not very good or experienced, but watching the float trickle down that lovely river, gives me such a wonderful, expectant excitement, that now has me hooked and i want to go every day!
'The Fish Locker', is new to me and as I never go sea fishing, a bit alien, but like a lot of fishermen, i can watch any fishing programme as long as its interesting. Glad to say, the chap doing the video and fishing is brilliant. Keeps the information and knowledge he imparts simple and entertaining. Love the way he shows us every fish he catches👍

Great video john and thank you for the tips .........have been having the same problem with the small bass and crabs and you are 100% correct in saying start of the flood tide up to half tide ..after that its crabs and weed I have found on my local mark .....as ever john very good advice and a great video 👏👏👌

Estuary fishing, a perfect day, quiet, a great first. Lucky man. In our estuaries we have black bream that are coloured because of the tea trees.Keep on it John Cheers mate.
