Haha! Thanks very much! Glad you enjoyed it. Stay safe tight lines 👍🏻🎣
@@TheFishLocker i only speak truths... 🙏😎🤘🌴
Fish whisperer! Perfect!
My daughter caught two cracking mullet freelining sprats that we’d scavenged off the fish quay in Teignmouth. It was really exciting as it was sight fishing in crystal clear water. Biggest one must have been well over 5 pounds and tasted lovely. Fed four of us!
I bet it tasted fantastic and you ate it with pride. Good for her.
@@marknelson9255 it did and I did! We used to go there a lot and you’d have the holiday anglers who’d bought one of those all in one fishing kits and finish up pulling in a mackerel or two so Rhiannon and I used to teach them how to fillet them and tell their mums how to cook them. We should have made at series from it! Happy days!👍
that's interesting didn't know mullet ate fish.
@@slaneyside Yes they do eat fish, they love Mackerel flesh. They are scavengers rather than predators.
@@slaneyside they’ll scavenge anything. We literally just cut strips off the sprats and pretty much buried the hook in it. Freelined it and the trick is wait until the fish turns away before setting the hook as they will mouth the bate a few times before making off with it. Get a good hookup in the corner of the mouth that way too. Fish stays on better than bread like most people use.
Wow that was some mornings sport, great fun,😊
- Cracking bit of fun all before 0900am
OH MY... GETS APPLAUSE!!! and duly deserved... that was cool.
and yes I'm commenting while watching.
- Haha. It was nice of them to man the rail for me wasnt it 👍
@@TheFishLocker incredible timing... how much did you pay them? 😂🙃👊🤘
John - It would be good to see you catch the prawns in your push prawn net - Its always good to find your own bait to save the hefty bait prices
- Aye mate. Nothing better than doing it all from start to finish. Bait collection to fish.
Wonderful to see you hook those beautiful Bass John and so relaxing to watch. Cheers. Loved the Navy boys bit- proper good old bants that.
- Haha. Jack might not be good for much. But he's good for a laugh. 😉👍
You should do another shoore camping Video with foraging and fishing
As soon as the weather allows we will! 🎣
Another cracking video John, I hope the next time I go fishing, its as good as that 😁🐟😁🎣
Absolutely John, lets hope September is a more settled month! 😃
@@TheFishLocker oh I hope so, I'll be in East Prawle for 2 weeks, the middle of September, and fishing on Torcross beach a few days, fingers crossed the mackerel and Bass are there still 🤞
Cant get more simple that that boss! Congrats, tight lines and continued success.
PS send some decent weather to your green neighbour over here!
Hi Dave thanks for watching. We could do with some decent weather here! Let’s hope September is more settled for us all 🎣🙏🏼
That’s my favourite spot!
Best keep it quiet then. 😉
Another cracking vid mate, waiting with baited (sorry for the pun) breath for our cornish holiday in October. As always you and your family stay safe
I hope the weather is better in October than it has been in August. Seems to be our rainy season now 🤷🏼♀️🎣
Super., i going tomorrow in fishing ( Filey ) from rock.,Thanks.
- How did you get on?
@@TheFishLocker you follow the path leading to the fishing spot and go walk onto the rocks towards the sea.

What a life you've got with your family, I live in liverpool and would love to live with my 7yr old son near the coast, your an inspiration, keep up the good work, your vids really cheer me up and loved everyone I've watched upto now 👌👋👍
It might not be as pretty as Cornwall, but there's some good fishing off on the Mersey and the coast up to Blackpool. There's good coarse fishing that way too, which might be an easier way to introduce your lad to the sport.
@@stubbyseventhree2963 I go carp fishing mate an he doesn't want to no ☹️👍
David Cooper - Thank you very much David. These is some very productive fishing to be had around Liverpool and the Mersey. It might not be as picture postcard as Cornwall but it’s still great fun. 😊🎣💙
I went today and the westerly wind was so bad the leads were been washed up on the beach, nice to see someones catvhing
It’s not nice out there at the lints. Stay safe and wait for better conditions 🎣🎣
good morning John .Never knew about the ads. I will leave them on make my coffee ☕ ,so you become a millionaire. Lol. . when you catch those whales (little uns ) you throw back that you show the camera .would you tell us the name of them a few times and what visual marking Id them if they look similar. sometimes it is hard to hear what they are in the sound recordings. . we land lubbers need help . take pity on us. We thoroughly enjoy your videos .Cheers from Alberta .Glad you are leaving my lobster alone . have a great day another John
- Thank you. Yes it is a little frustrating when people complain to me about the adds. They seem to think they should be able to watch our videos for free and I should put them up for free as well? Anyway, yes the silver ones on this video are our European Sea Bass and the brown ones were Ballon Wrasse. Take care mate and stay safe 😀
Hii u should catch clean and cook sir thank you love from India Mumbai
- Catch and cook playlist.
Its very calm. Its always the one that got away, that was the biggest one haha, Can you fish off that jetty? They are decent size fish, I would have caught 3 of the bass and gone home being very proud of myself. What would you be doing if you couldn't fish?
- There is no Public access to that pier, those bass were a little too small for me to take tbh. If I wasn't fishing I'd be working.
@@TheFishLocker Working!! That sucks 🤣🤣🤣..ok fishing it is .
Good quality videos, i cant get enough of your videos :)
Is there any species of fish in UK that you haven't cought yet and you are after ?
- I don't know. I do intend on targeting John Dory. I would like to catch a Thresher Shark but its not going to break my heart of I don't find one. 😀
where in the UK is this. Lovely place
- Cornwall.
What make and type is the white one you have?
Do you mean the rod?
The Fish Locker yes haha, looking at buying a new rod tomorrow!
Is that the same sea bass you get in the restaurant’s
Yes it is just a bit smaller ☺️😉
Where is that ?

Does how long a viewer watches the ads affect your revenues from your advertisers? If so I’ll watch to the end and not skip the ads. It’s the least we can do for such good entertainment.👍❤️it.
It does James. We don’t expect people to watch them but are very grateful to all that do. It’s amazing how many messages we get asking us not to put ads in, when we can afford to do it for free we will ❤️
The Fish Locker Thanks for the very quick reply. I live in the United States, capitalism and free enterprise is our mainstay. Many people over here are starting to reject this format , and expect everything is free and shouldn’t have to pay for or work for anything. IDIOTS! Good things generally cost, We have lots of idiots here, just watch the news.🤣🤔
The Fish Locker wow I didn’t know that John. I’ll make sure I let the ads run.
Yes, now that I know about the ads, I will let them run, too. I want to be able to continue watching your vids until Jesus takes me to Heaven...then I can go fishing in the River of Life!
I will too... Because i like having these videos on all-day sometimes anyway. IT keeps a pleasant atmosphere for my family during the lockdown.
Hi John / Hannah / James
Any sign of the Tuna ?
- They have been sighted. I think this poor weather will have pushed them off though
You’re living the dream mate.. one man on his boat, in peace, fishing. Hope to get a boat one day myself.
- They are a lot of work but so so much joy to be had.
pro tip : you can watch movies on Flixzone. Been using them for watching all kinds of movies recently.
@Anson Gabriel Yea, I have been using Flixzone for years myself :)
Great videos some nice bass so nice Balham RAS keep up the great work mate
Thanks very much. Glad you enjoyed it 🎣👍🏻
If you ever come to the states, you should come to colorado in the rocky mountains. My dad and I love to fish the streams up there for brooke trout.
We are really hoping to get over there next year 🤞🏼
@@TheFishLocker if you do, please come to Rockport, Texas! You will see how well we have recovered from Hurricane Harvey...provided we get through 2020 hurricane season without another one! We really dodged a bullet with Hurricane Laura. So sadly, though, that our brothers and sisters in Louisiana did not. They are having a really rough time with some areas not even having access to fuel for their chainsaws to remove the debris from the streets, lawns, and houses.
@@JiLomlKoKLoLEver we did not dodge that particular Laura bullet here in Louisiana. The gulf coast always bounces back! We had a trip scheduled for Houston this weekend...now we r spending g it cleaning the branches and metal building parts left from the storm
@@kaisha915 yes, I know how bad it is in Louisiana. I have many brothers and sisters in Christ in East Texas and Lake Charles, Sulphur, Alexandria, who are without power, with fuel, and without water! It is a terrifying feeling when you don't have the essentials for daily living. I am trying to connect with members of other church of Christ congregations to pull together some help. We must help each other in these times of dire circumstances. Kaisha, I do hope your situation improves in your area. I heard that Orange, Texas, was also hit really hard.
@@JiLomlKoKLoLEver my area didn't get hit as hard. Lots of downed trees and some buildings and my neighbor's shed were damaged. Excellent fun session John, people who didn’t like the video are obviously green with envy
Who knows Ronnie? we are too busy with our own channel to worry about what their thoughts are, if it makes them feel better about their sad lives to inflict their negativity to others then let them have their "anonymous" button....
Exactly

Wonderful “catch & release” video! Were any you caught big enough to keep - or do they not taste good? You obviously were using the right bait! Marcus from Chesapeake VA❣️
We tend not to keep Bass whether they are big enough or not. I would much rather they continued to produce numbers and replenish our stocks 🎣🎣

Hi John, a nice little session's fishing. I hope you and the family are all well, and have yourselves a lovely weekend. Best wishes from Surrey. 🎣🎣🐬
Thanks Emma. Have a great weekend and thanks for watching 😊🎣
Nice session, John. Fun and casual. Loved the shout out the Navy Guys gave you as they were going through, too. And whether you fished two rods or one, caught all or none, you were still fishin'. Also, having worked at a pre-stressed concrete plant for a few summers, the sound of the machinery in the background was oddly relaxing. Tight lines, my friend! Have a great weekend.
- Haha. I find the sound of a marine diesel quite soothing as well. 🤣
This is both so interesting and relaxing to watch and beats anything on live TV ...thoroughly enjoyable...Many thanks ..👍😎
- Thank you Michael. Glad you enjoyed it mate. 😀
hellooo good morning to you sir!
Hi joe have a great day 🎣🎣
WHAT A BITE!!!!!!!! at the 15min mark I thort you was gunner end up loosing ya rod. Cracking session mate. sometimes the simplest fishing is the best!!!!! Crackin vid mate as all ways top class

Great fishing there John nice area for the bass to get some protection from this pillars but not from fish locker that’s for sure all the very best pal 🏴🏴🏴🏴

Top drawer ....
Nice to see HMS Tyne going by .. She's going for maintenance .Cool to see the new jetty beside the crumbling old pier ,
- Aye mate. Got to see the lads manning the rail for me. Haha. 🤣
Hi John, does the float run freely up and down your main line? I'm just trying to understand how it works. Many thanks, Dave
There are several videos on the channel that show exactly how to rig the floats.
Hi John. Any chance of a video explaining your use of a sonar/fishfiner/ just purchased one and enjoying experimenting! Wearing a Fish locker T Shirt on the beach in Beer today!
- The is already one on the channel. Have a look in the Small Boat owner playlist.
Hi,love it like all what I watch yours video,am completely with not experience Sea fishing, but when that intensity fish get a bait, one rod fishing for me would be more effect, how I say,no experienced but just my think about. All best.
- Best wishes Grzegorz. 👍
Hi John, think i saw you at Exeter Services on the 29th about 20:30 getting fuel, did contemplate stopping and saying hello but was in a rush to get up the motorway before i became to tired to drive, I might be back down to Cornwall in October for a long weekend provided we dont get another lockdown, so many stupid holiday makers not adhering to the rules :( Managed to catch high tide at Pentewan just after midnight and the following day fished the flood off Mevagissy Wall but on both occassions only managed to catch weed lol
Paul Taylor - Aye mate that might have been me. Small world.haha
Firstly John, please keep up the good work, I love all of your video's. I was wondering where you launch your boat from when fishing the Fal estuary?
- It depends Keith. There are several launch sites. Penryn, Falmouth, Mylor, Loe beach, St Just.
Some times there is fising and there is fishing :D I do both, some days I go out to get food and other days just fishing for fun and relaxing. I do relax even if im out for food but you know how it is. And now we have to ride out a ch..... system that is coming past Irland and going up to us..... Cant wait until 2nd week in september, much better weather then. Hope you all doing well, have a good one mate :D
- Aye mate I know how it is. Some days I go out with my game face on. Others I'm just there for the joy. Fingers crossed for that better weather. 😀
John - are you aware of the "Spam Bot" doing the rounds called "anna - let's get acquainted" She/It has posted 2 comments on this video, and there have been numerous similar comments on many good channels recently. I won't say any more than put "anna let's get acquainted" into a UA-cam search.
- Thanks for the heads up. We have been getting quite a few "adult" spambot type comments. I just delete them when I see them.
Really quite pleasant. Seems like u ran out of prawns fast . I haven't been getting my notifications in a few days. Hope the FL Family are ALL well.
- Thats annoying. Please check to make sure you're notification bell is set to "ALL". If it is and you're still not getting them. Try unsubscribing and resubscribing.
Funny you mentionned trigger fish! Only saw your video today and my lunch was trigger fish fillets!😀 Very tasty fish mate!
- Delicious aren't they. 😊
The bass are like the vidio, fantastic, in one word..... Kind regards Mike. Norfolk. 🐟🐟
Thanks mike really appreciate it 👍🏻🎣
Thanks for the vid John....very relaxing.....love to all....Bob(IOW)
Glad you enjoyed it Bob, lets hope there is some more settled weather on the way. I hope you're well and enjoy the bank holiday 😃
Love the content keep it up
Thanks Corey 🎣👍🏻
Hi John, I've looked at your videos when you are out in deeper water using a float and wondered about how you rig it up when using braid and maybe a leader and what float stops you would use. depths and types of floats, locked leads or not I looking at doing a lot more float fishing from the boat in deeper water. Great videos thanks.
Good luck, I show exactly what I do in the float videos. If its not covered in one. Its covered in another. Literally everything is explained.
How is there any thumbs down on this channel, surely if you don't like it dont watch it?? Always thumbs up 👍 from me . 👍🐟
Good question! But never brave enough to say anything....
Enjoyed that very much. Nothing better than uncomplicated fishing !
Definitely jay. I think some folks over complicate it and make it more difficult for themselves 🎣👍🏻 tight lines
It’s like a fishing farm
Wonderful isn't it. 😊
Do you keep the shrimp alive while you're fishing? You showed us the prawns but no water in the bucket?
- I did put a few inches of water in with them. They re ok without water for a while providing you keep them cool.
Great video, you have the ‘knack’ ! Do you reckon you would have caught any fish with other baits?
- I don't think I would have caught as many fish with other baits. ;)
We've just had a very stormy afternoon, so it's nice to relax and watch you enjoy a very chilled mornings fishing session. Some lovely bass. Hope you enjoyed your second breakfast 🌞🐟🎣🐙
It’s not very nice here either Roxy. I hope you have a great weekend 🎣👍🏻
You too 🐙
John I've heard you mention John Dory a couple of times, have you had any in your videos that I may have missed? Do you plan on targeting them at some stage? Would love to see you catch one.
- No John Dorys in our videos yet.
Hi John, North Yorkshire comment, just want to know why you aren't taking some of the Bass back for tea?
Because they were tiny
I enjoyed watching this video John, I think float fishing is a peaceful way to enjoy sea fishing. Tight lines
- There is something really satisfying and simplistic about float fishing isn't there. I love it. 😀
As always a very enjoyable and informative video. Have you got any plans to do a porbeagle shark trip?
- Thanks Richard, as soon as the conditions are right I'll give it a crack.
Good stuff... make yourself a net bag to keep your prawn in and hang it in the water from your boat to keep the prawn alive..
- Why would I need to? I had them sat very happily in a bucket of water and they were alive for as long as I need them to be. I've had prawn stay alive in a bucket of water all day.
great session. size of the wrasse this is what i am after like maniac need to tick this species off the list. stay safe
I do enjoy carving wrasse they can be great sport. Good luck 😉
That bite, that hit your white rod, was big. Just about took it overboard. You even had an audience, at the end. Lol I'd say a great morning of fishing. Another great video shared. Thank you.
Stay safe and healthy.
It was a perfect morning wasn’t it?! Some frat fish and beautiful weather. Thanks very much for watching. Enjoy the weekend 🎣👍🏻
Hi john good video as always, i have known people go to iceland ( the shop ) and buy a bag of prawns and use and catch fish have you ever tried them,
- Yes. Both freshwater and saltwater. They do work ok.
I should say awesomesauce, but that's for the catch and cook lobster....thanks..
- Basstastic?
You should do a night session by the dock wharves used to be so.e clonking conger under there ,i used to sneak under as a kid chasing mullet and pollack
- Too much going on at night mate. Boats coming and going. It wouldn't be safe.
Another great video keep them coming 👍nice to see someone catching nothing but strong winds and rain for us in N Wales ( but our time will come )
It’s not much better here Adrian. Finger crossed for some fine weather soon! 👍🏻🎣🤞🏼
Just bought some 4/0 circles interested to give them a try , and again enjoyed the vid.

There is this mexican dish called ceviche with prawns its really good.check it out. Nice vid thanks

A stop to it

Best fishing on UA-cam lad.Any salmon fishing?
- Thanks mate. No Salmon fishing Im afraid. They are a rare thing down these parts.
Some good catches. Are the wrass good to eat? Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks rob. They aren’t a fish I enjoy personally but I know some people eat them. I’ve seen them for sale on local fish markets so I guess there’s someone out there buying them 🤷🏼♀️😊
Nice fishing I have cought some nice fish that way keep up the good work
That’s great to hear! Stay safe have a great weekend 👍🏻🎣
Great video again John lovely way to spend a few hours your free lining rig works really well course fishing I used it with sweet corn and had a double figure carp lovely way to catch fish you couldn't have a easier rig thanks for the tip . That mark you were fishing was that were James caught his p b bass looked familiar ? Keep your family safe tight lines
- One is my favourite rigs used to be a few pieces of corn freelined like that but with a blimp of mud clagged to the line for weight about 10” from the hook.
Thank you for the video John. It's awesome to see the different types of fish that you catch. Reels up and tight lines my friend. 🎣👍 Cheers.

Bead float, float bead.......jus' like that! /Fez ❤️
- Doesn’t need to be complicated. 😉👍🏻
Would you say some of those Bass were keeper size if you wanted to...?
- 1 or 2 would have been keepable size. Most were just under.
That 'Kanji' rod John.. 2.4m or 2.7m? (30-70g?) (Little 'schooly bass with attitude??? Isn't that today's youth!? ;-) )
- 2.4m 40-80g.
@@TheFishLocker Thanks John.
I grew up near the ocean so have always had a soft spot for it. Im travelling to falmouth in a few weeks towards the end of september. And as i was looking up coastal foraging, what to look for and whats available to forage for i came across your channel. Watched so many videos already. I was wondering if you had any advice about where to go in the falmouth and surrounding areas for lobster/crab/scallop hunting. Will be purchasing a small ocean rod and mayby even a small lobster/crab pot. I will also have access to a kayak. Thanks :)
- I am sorry but we do not publicise any of our locations as they just get abused. Fishing from the kayak close to any rocky shore will give you a chance of some bass and Pollack. 😀
Another great vid john keep up the good work .any chance of one on catching prawns .
Thanks Pat. Have a great weekend 🎣👍🏻
Where are the big ones john ? By night i think its better, with live pranws....

Awesome video bro!! Could catch me on those prawns lol.

Great vid mate, what was the set up on white rod.an best way to put on the shrimp. Thanks
- Nomura kanji 2.4m
Hello again from OZ, thanks for another great video John, I hope you don't mind but I have a question for you which is a little bit off the video subject. I've noticed that that neither you or another UK fishing channel I watch use electric anchor winches, I often fish alone & have quite severe back issues, I think I would really find it very difficult if not impossible to fish alone without my electric anchor winch & my electric boat/trailer winch. Is there a reason I don't see them used in the UK channels I watch ?, or are they more popular than I see.
I always look forward to seeing your videos mate as it makes my week, as always tight lines & good health to The Fish Locker Family.
- They are generally an expense that a lot of brits don't want to pay for. They are useful but not essential and a lot of the boats here in the UK, shall we say "are not the best" haha. So considering the anchor winch may cost £800. The boat itself by only be £1000.
Hi mate have u got any videos on how to catch and use shrimp 🔥🔥❤️
- Yes. There is a video on how to make prawn traps on our sister channel. The FishLocker Workshop. And several videos show how we hook and use them.
Two question Mr Locker first! Is the bass a good fish to eat? Second! Where you in the service and what branch if that not to personal. Also great video my man!
- Bass is great to eat. And yes I am ex military.
