Actually she had just turned nine two months before recording. To further unhinge your mind you should realize that she arranged the music and lyrics. You should listen to the original by Jay Hawkins to understand the genius of this child. You mentioned she owns the band. There are videos of her with this group rehearsals of two songs where she is directing them as to what she wants. She completely changes the way the piano player is playing and is obviously in charge. At this time in her three year career is affectionately referred to as the boss. If you watch the very beginnings of this video you will see her writing changes to the instrumentation which she gives to the director and as he reads you see him smile. In a later interview he states that Angelina was very polite as she referred to the changes as her wishes. Can you imagine what these musicians were thinking when walking out the door. I believe they knew they had just been part of musical history. They will remember this there entire lives. Note that most of them are still around her. She has been called a musicians magnet.

Told you so... But you have to see Angelina’s talent to believe it. And this one is a perfect example of her incredible range, even though she was nine here. Between then and now, Angelina has tackled and demolished many other styles. Unlike other singers, Angelina is able to modify her voice, tone, timbre, and style to adapt almost organically to whatever she’s singing. It’s like she has a vocal sweet spot-but that sweet spot includes jazz, blues, soul, and pop. As hard as it is to believe, you’ve only scratched the surface. Her “mature” voice (10 years old +) is deep, textured, warm and resonant. As with the three songs you’ve watched, Angelina begins-and you’re stunned. It’s not possible to say who is the best singer in the world because there are too many styles of music, too many personal preferences, and too many ways to judge talent. But I can say without any reservation that there is no one else, past or present, whom I would rather listen to. It’s not even close-and I’ve been actively listening to music since the 1950’s. I need to hear Angelina everyday, even though I’ve heard Gloomy Sunday, Bohemian Rhapsody, Stay, I Put a Spell on You, and Bang, Bang at least a hundred times each. I am 75 years old and IMO Angelina will be joining the pantheon of the greatest vocalists of my lifetime : Holliday, Sinatra, Elvis, Fitzgerald, Houston, Freddy Mercury. I read somewhere that as a toddler and youngster, she spent a lot of time at grandmother's where she heard a lot of jazz, blues vocalist. She must have absorbed that music through her skin!
The amazing thing about this performance is that when you listen to it again (and again, etc.) once you get past the initial shockwave, there are layer upon layer or additional shocking aspects of her skill and musicality. One of my favourites as a drummer boy is her mastery of timing. Just starting with that terrifying little squeal or roar near the beginning... pay attention to when she hits it. She hits it on the 2nd eighth note in a 6/8 bar, the up beat. And if you watch the way she pushes through it with her left hand, she is totally feeling it rhythmically as she hits that terrifying syncopated declaration that your ass (and soul) are hers. Another great example is 5:06, "I don't care if you don't want me / I'm yours/ right now". 12 vocal syllables spread over 16 beats, not a single one of them on a down beat. And the same thing except totally, completely, different in the last line of the song. That last line sung in the spirit of Édith Piaf, just for fun and variety.
You're talking way over my head. You kinda pulled the curtain back exposing her technical mastery. I can't explain how this kid sings.... but reading your downbeat, vocally syllables and syncopated declarations stuff has me even more impressed with this 'kid'. THX.

As amazed as you were with the first two, I have been looking forward to seeing what you thought of this one. My personal opinion... this is the single most impressive thing I have ever seen from a 9 year old. It's not even that her voice is so mature sounding for her age... it's that she knows how it _should_ sound. And this is all her, she is not copying anything. If you listen to the original Screamin Jay Hawkins version that she is covering here, she honors it without copying it. There is no other version of this song that sounds like she did it here... at 9 years old. It is mind boggling. And to top it all off... just look at how effortless that seemed for her. She once said "singing is as important as breathing for me". It seems it's as easy as breathing for her too.

Wade Mitchell , I’ve been in the rabbit hole ever since I heard Angelina for the first time January 6th of this year when she sang “Bohemian Rhapsody” on AGT, and I’m enjoying every minute of it. Angelina has become my favorite vocal artist of all time.
She has total control in that sound booth. She sings as soulful as if she has lived life times of love, loss,maturity and world weariness. Of all the great things she's done vocally, this, THIS is magical.

After watching your first reaction to Angelina, I thought to myself: "Let's wait until he gets to 'Spell', and if he can survive Angelina Jordan in full beast mode, then I'll subscribe". If there's anything I've learned in the past few years, it's that nobody brings in the eyeballs and racks up the subscription count better or faster that our sweet angel. It's understandable, really. I mean, just listen to her. And it's not just that voice. It's all the rest as well: the bare feet vow, the way she treats her fans, the protection and love of her family, the kindness and humility in her heart, it's the whole package. By the way, in my very humble opinion, that intake screech she does at 2:16, after that first big growl, is possibly one of the best examples of highly advanced vocal technique that I've ever seen, and I've been a musician, both professionally and privately, for over fifty years. has anyone noticed Daneliya singing on AGT 2020 She received a standing ovation, and made it to the quarter finals, and is a "Front Runner" at this point, however even though she does have a great voice, she seems to fall into the screamer/belter catagory like Diana.. Angelina does not need this "loud is better to make sure I impress people" stuff. When she started out acapella so soft you could barely hear her voice on AGT Champions, you could hear a pin drop. People were amazed, and she got a standing ovation, and a Golden Buzzer.

It is original by Screaming Jay Hawkins, not Nina Simone or CCR, and one of the R&R Hall of Fame's 500 best songs of all time. When she was 6 years old, she was traveling in the middle east (her grandmother is Iranian), and she came across a young girl close to her age who was working in the street offering to weigh people with a bathroom scale for money. She had no shoes on her feet and her feet were cracked and in pretty bad shape. They talked for a while and then the little girl mentioned how nice she thought Angelina's shoes were. Angelina asked her if she had any shoes and she said no, so Angelina gave her the shoes off her feet. Angelina asked her what her dreams were and the little girl said she wanted to be a doctor. Angelina told the little girl that she wanted to be a star and sing for the world. The little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day and asked Angelina to not forget about her. Angelina made a promise at that time that any time she sang in public she would sing barefoot to remember this little girl and bring awareness to the suffering of children around the world. To this day, over 7 years later, she has stayed true to that commitment. Told you so... But you have to see Angelina’s talent to believe it. And this one is a perfect example of her incredible range, even though she was nine here. Between then and now, Angelina has tackled and demolished many other styles. Unlike other singers, Angelina is able to modify her voice, tone, timbre, and style to adapt almost organically to whatever she’s singing. It’s like she has a vocal sweet spot-but that sweet spot includes jazz, blues, soul, and pop. As hard as it is to believe, you’ve only scratched the surface. Her “mature” voice (10 years old +) is deep, textured, warm and resonant. As with the three songs you’ve watched, Angelina begins-and you’re stunned.
It’s not possible to say who is the best singer in the world because there are too many styles of music, too many personal preferences, and too many ways to judge talent. But I can say without any reservation that there is no one else, past or present, whom I would rather listen to. It’s not even close-and I’ve been actively listening to music since the 1950’s. I need to hear Angelina everyday, even though I’ve heard Gloomy Sunday, Bohemian Rhapsody, Stay, I Put a Spell on You, and Bang, Bang at least a hundred times each. And I’m sure I left out twenty other songs in that category. Enjoy the ride.
I agree that whose to say who is best. Your comment about whom you would rather listen to gives me a sense who would get your vote if it were a contest. I would vote right along with you. I am 75 years old and IMO Angelina will be joining the pantheon of the greatest vocalists of my lifetime : Holliday, Sinatra, Elvis, Fitzgerald, Houston, Freddy Mercury. She can do it all in any genre.

I read somewhere that as a toddler and youngster, she spent a lot of time at grandmother's where she heard a lot of jazz, blues vocalist. She must have absorbed that music through her skin!
The amazing thing about this performance is that when you listen to it again (and again, etc.) once you get past the initial shockwave, there are layer upon layer or additional shocking aspects of her skill and musicality. One of my favourites as a drummer boy is her mastery of timing. Just starting with that terrifying little squeal or roar near the beginning... pay attention to when she hits it. She hits it on the 2nd eighth note in a 6/8 bar, the up beat. And if you watch the way she pushes through it with her left hand, she is totally feeling it rhythmically as she hits that terrifying syncopated declaration that your ass (and soul) are hers. Another great example is 5:06, "I don't care if you don't want me / I'm yours/ right now". 12 vocal syllables spread over 16 beats, not a single one of them on a down beat. And the same thing except totally, completely, different in the last line of the song. That last line sung in the spirit of Édith Piaf, just for fun and variety.
You're talking way over my head. You kinda pulled the curtain back exposing her technical mastery. I can't explain how this kid sings.... but reading your downbeat, vocally syllables and syncopated declarations stuff has me even more impressed with this 'kid'. THX.

As amazed as you were with the first two, I have been looking forward to seeing what you thought of this one. My personal opinion... this is the single most impressive thing I have ever seen from a 9 year old. It's not even that her voice is so mature sounding for her age... it's that she knows how it _should_ sound. And this is all her, she is not copying anything. If you listen to the original Screamin Jay Hawkins version that she is covering here, she honors it without copying it. There is no other version of this song that sounds like she did it here... at 9 years old. It is mind boggling. And to top it all off... just look at how effortless that seemed for her. She once said "singing is as important as breathing for me". It seems it's as easy as breathing for her too.

If I ever get to meet her, the only item on my bucket list I will seriously look for wings or something. Ha, ha, ha, rofl. After watching your first reaction to Angelina, I thought to myself: "Let's wait until he gets to 'Spell', and if he can survive Angelina Jordan in full beast mode, then I'll subscribe". So congratulations, you now have at least one more subscriber.
And I'm quite sure I'm not the only one. If there's anything I've learned in the past few years, it's that nobody brings in the eyeballs and racks up the subscription count better or faster that our sweet angel. It's understandable, really. I mean, just listen to her. And it's not just that voice. It's all the rest as well: the bare feet vow, the way she treats her fans, the protection and love of her family, the kindness and humility in her heart, it's the whole package. There is simply no one else like her. Not that I've ever known of anyways.
By the way, in my very humble opinion, that intake screech she does at 2:16, after that first big growl, is possibly one of the best examples of highly advanced vocal technique that I've ever seen, and I've been a musician, both professionally and privately, for over fifty years. Mind you, the entire performance is a masterpiece, both in production and execution, but that one second of sound is really the icing on the cake.

has anyone noticed Daneliya singing on AGT 2020 She received a standing ovation, and made it to the quarter finals, and is a "Front Runner" at this point, however even though she does have a great voice, she seems to fall into the screamer/belter catagory like Diana.. Angelina does not need this "loud is better to make sure I impress people" stuff. When she started out acapella so soft you could barely hear her voice on AGT Champions, you could hear a pin drop. People were amazed, and she got a standing ovation, and a Golden Buzzer.

Oh Lord that was good! :D I was fearful you'd have a coronary tho. Angelina is this sweet innocent little girl (not so little now) until she goes into that mystical world of hers. There she becomes a timeless entity and 'age' has no meaning. She just IS. The band calls her 'the boss'. They do her bidding. To be fair, she had just turned 9 in this video. It is original by Screaming Jay Hawkins, not Nina Simone or CCR, and one of the R&R Hall of Fame's 500 best songs of all time. When Angelina was called "a gift from the universe" they weren't kidding :-) Angelina has been singing since age 1 1/2, so yes, all of her life.Thanks for another Angelina reaction.

The story of her bare feet is one of unbelievable commitment and caring. When she was 6 years old, she was traveling in the middle east (her grandmother is Iranian), and she came across a young girl close to her age who was working in the street offering to weigh people with a bathroom scale for money. She had no shoes on her feet and her feet were cracked and in pretty bad shape. They talked for a while and then the little girl mentioned how nice she thought Angelina's shoes were. Angelina asked her if she had any shoes and she said no, so Angelina gave her the shoes off her feet. Angelina asked her what her dreams were and the little girl said she wanted to be a doctor. Angelina told the little girl that she wanted to be a star and sing for the world. The little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day and asked Angelina to not forget about her. Angelina made a promise at that time that any time she sang in public she would sing barefoot to remember this little girl and bring awareness to the suffering of children around the world. To this day, over 7 years later, she has stayed true to that commitment. She remains a very grounded and humble young lady She has spent the past 7 years pouring out her soul and her talent to help people who are not as fortunate as her. She donated much, if not most of her winnings from Norway's Got Talent to children's charities and has performed in benefit concerts across the globe in support of disadvantaged children and other social causes (raising over 20 million Euros).
