I can't believe she was so young and she certainly has a lot of personality. Feel free to tell us more ideas if you want us to react to her again. Go listen to our music too: bit.ly/PolestarSong
Hey! I saw you raised your brows when the camera showed her bare feet, just wanted to tell you why. When she was 6y old, traveling with her family, she met a poor girl with no shoes and blisters on her feet. They talked for a while and it ended with Angelina giving her shoes to the girl. This meeting made such a big impression on Angelina that she wrote a book about it. And she also made a vow to never wear shoes when performing, as a homage to this girl and poor children all over the world who are not as fortunate. To this day, she still always performs barefoot 💖
The "homework" at the beginning was Angelina making corrections to her arrangement of Screamin Jay Hawkins version of this jazz classic. The picture on the candle is in fact Screamin Jay showing her tribute to him. In an interview with one of the musicians who play with her said that he and his fellow artists do not think of Angelina Jordan as a singer, but as a fellow musician.
9 year 2 month old Angelina creates her arrangement (writing on the pages) then takes charge of the studio and band to belt out the best version of this Screamin Jay Hawkins classic. She is a musical genius with the best voice I have ever heard.
Copied from another commenter. In an interview Angelina said later (then 10yo) about this song: "It means love! Desperate love. It's very special, it's almost voodoo! The original is very nice, and when I scream it is a desperate cry that everyone should love each other."
How funny it was. This performance was evidence she was the Queen of Blues already at that point. In some respects she may never top this performance, it's simply mind blowing, not funny.
It's funny how everybody who reacts to this video is like "oh, she's cute" at first 🤩, and when the video ends everybody got a serious look on their face 😶
These musicians know Angelina well. She arranged both the lyrics and the music. You see her writing and giving her notes to the director which we believe to changes for the pianist. There is video of her rehearsal for this song where you see her directing the musicians as to how she wants it to sound. The musicians affectionately refer to her as the boss. She was nine years and two months old when recorded. She was arranging her music when she was seven and eight. This can be seen in rehearsals for Summertime which was her final song on Norway’s Got Talent which she won. There is much for you to learn about this child, all of which is a pleasure. lol
There is a video of Angelina when she was I think six. She was in the studio listening to a playback of the song she had just recorded. She wasn't completely happy with how it sounded. She was very shy and told her mom who then told the music director that Angelina had some changes she wanted to make. It was so enduring.
You'll also notice that she's looking at her own musical notes/ lyrical paper to the side and using her fingers to time the beat......not only is she singing so incredibly, she's also listening, experiencing, interacting with , and spontaneously flowing musically with the band!
Welcome to Angelina's world. The deeper you dig the more amazed you will be. We fans like to call it the Angelina rabbit hole. You'll get lost in her originality, glorious sounds, and angelic presence and personality.
💗💗💗 *Only Angelina Jordan, can take an amazing song, from a phenomenal artist, & make it her own* 💗💗💗 I have often been lost for words, when trying to describe Angelina Jordan's unique vocals, & I still cannot express, or even come to terms, with what my ears are hearing, most times, but one thing I absolutely do know, is that, when I hear her voice, it always touches my soul, & can make me feel things I didn't even know existed!!! To me, that is her gift, & what makes her, not only a singer, but an incredible soulful artist 💝 *SHE TRULY IS A GIFT* 💝
@@classicsciencefictionhorro1665 She's obviously going for a full music career, so I'm just waiting to see how big she'll be by her 20's. Another Norwegian world talent :)
She is 15 years today! When her record label (Republic Records) , family and herself want it, they can just push the button. Many people forget that she is only 15 years old today because she is so mature for her age. She still goes to school. and I think everyone on her team including the record company (Republic Records), slows down a bit with marketing her. She is so good anyway, so she can not be ignored. She delivers music that lasts, and not music that lasts for a few weeks as plastic hit. Angelina has over 600 Million Views on UA-cam and over 2 Billion Views on Facebook overall on her videos. Angelina won Norway's Got Talent at the Age of 8, and has been producing masterclass level vocals ever since. The only and regular marketing is done by the fans via UA-cam. All the important top personalities in the western music industry know who she is and what she can do. In just a few years, I know that we will see great things from Angelina.(Google translate) If you need to identify who she sound like, I can tell you that she has 1000 different voices to choose from, depending on the song choice and type .. It's Angelina.
Must see!! Her cover of James Browns "Its A Mans World" at 12 years old. Although its taken from a cell phone and the audio quality is a little off....its still amazing. Also, the tv show version of Feeling Good.
Great reaction! Imagine being barely nine years old, walking into a studio filled with professional musicians, who are waiting for you to perform with them. Sounds scary... right? In AJA's world, those musicians were there on her directions, taking her directions - doing so gladly while being estatic about the greatness they witnessed. No matter age, this is a masterpiece - period and it will be studied for generations.
The band backing her usually are with her always. She changes lyrics almost all the time. She is by far one of the greatest singers to ever walk up to the mic. I'm a huge jazz fan and a lot of 50s music. But when she does Whitney houston, that's where I got the most chills because when you watch her, she shows she is in charge by knowing it's very easy for her by her body reactions in the video. When I first seen her sing only 5 months ago I was hooked and went down the rabbit hole. Still blows my mind how perfect her pitch is. She was put in this earth as a gift.
She is 15 now. She was signed last year to Republic Records, whose roster includes Lorde, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Post Malone, The Weeknd, and many others. Her deal designates her as a Priority Artist, who will enjoy the full support of the label for any of her releases. Pretty crazy to get that status on her first record deal.
She's not going to have full creative control on her first album, the record labels are extremely evil and most likely while she will have more perks than most artist, full CREATIVE control isn't one of them, they want money, so they want sales and they know the formula for commercial success.
@@astralmindny9055 Sorry but while you are entirely correct as far as the general music industry is concerned, NO ONE controls Angelina. Her manager and uncle Michael Astar secured what is probably the best contract ever for Angelina. Republic Records was ecstatic over signing her in spite of the terms of the contract. Angelina is always open to suggestions but NO ONE except Angelina dictates her choices in music, songwriting, arrangements, recording sessions, performances, etc. It simply isn't done and Angelina, in a very humble and politely caring way, ensures everyone is on the same page as her. Don't make the classic mistake of confusing her chronological age with her maturity, vision, wisdom or genius. P.S. With around 600 million+ devoted fans ANYTHING Angelina does is gobbled up immediately by people from all over the world.
A 9 year old that arranged this herself, like all of her performances from 6 up is insane, and it's Jazz, Jazz! She is in a mix of professionals and they respect her! She is limited so she makes it work somehow and you can see how technical this performance was, that means tons of practice and she wrote a book and gives a lot to charity. Just amazing!
You've seen what is likely to be a modern day Mozart video that will go down in history - but from your facial expressions, intent on pleasing you, you didn't notice ... and this is significant ....
That wasn't homework. She does her own musical arrangements so she was marking changes for the music director and as you saw he enjoyed looking at them.
I saw the interview with the director. The arrangement was Angelina's. Before they started recording Angelina wanted to make a few adjustments. He said the reason he smiled was because the note was so polite .
Thanks for the new reaction with Angelina. This is the homage of Angelina to Screamin' Hawkins (the portrait on the candle) and isn't an imitation, rather a tribute to a singer she has much listened to and admires. Not all adults know this great performer but certainly the only girl in the world who knows him and who also thinks of singing his song without any fear is she. It's incredible that this adaptation is all her own (the sheets written) and that at that age she was able to evaluate and transform, according to her sensitivity, such a particular and powerful song 😊 ❤️ This is Angelina, the incredible magical little girl and this is probably the best reinterpretation made by a singer in over 60 years of this song.
Make no mistake about who the boss in that room was. Angelina didn't need to prove herself, the musicians did. The notes in the beginning of the video was Angelina stating how the music was to be played. Of course Angelina, being such a humble person, called them wishes. At the age of 9, Angelina had already won Norway's Got Talent, performed at multiple charity events, and sang at the Nobel Prize ceremony.
Angelina is giving us her arrangement of this song (the list she wrote at the beginning was her wish list for the musical director, he knew that she was going to be the BOSS! You should try listening to the original by Screamin' Jay Hawkins, apparently he and his band had a few beers before the recording, resulting in something more in the way of theatre. Angelina extracted a song from that! This was in what I call her "feisty phase", she also did a James Brown cover in a live concert, at age 9, giving attitude to deliver "I feel good". For a more refined, yet more powerful, James Brown cover, "It's a Man's World", with full military band, live concert, age 12. Well who's world is it? I would place my bet on Angelina! ua-cam.com/video/HEm7tGrjIKk/v-deo.html
You will soon be inundated with more requests , and subscribers, than you will know what to do with. Angelina is now 15 and has a preferred artists contract with Republic Records. She and her family are limiting her exposure until she finishes with school. She also has retained the rights to her own music. That is where she is right now. Where she came from is Norway. Since she entered and won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 7-8 years old, she has traveled and performed around the world. She turns down 90% of the requests for her to perform because her family wants to give her room to grow up as normally as possible. She was invited by Quincy Jones a couple years back for Quincy's 85th year birthday celebration. She sang Quincy's arrangement of 'Fly Me To The Moon'. After meeting her and having her sing something to him off the cuff, Quincy said that Angelina was the best young singer he's heard since Michael Jackson. Angelina herself seems to be immune to this kind of adulation as she is a very humble and caring person who gives away a lot of her appearance money to charities. You will be told many things about Angelina. Some you will go, 'Yeah right' to because you can't believe someone so young could be doing this. But she has and is doing that and more. She has covered more than 140 songs on her youtube channel. She chooses her own music, even now, she rearranges just about everything she touches. Some not so much, others as with her arrangement of her performance on AGT The Champions in 2020 when she took 'Bohemian Rhapsody' for a spin that has re-defined what you can do to a song. You should definitely see that performance. Since this performance you just watched she has grown not only in musical stature but in physical stature as well. She is now 6'1" tall, in bare feet, you will get that point from others, is model thin and beautiful enough to make a dent in that profession if she wanted. Oh, and the comments you were making about her relationships with other musicians, whoever she works with very long they come to call her, The Boss, and they all love her to death. As far as what to listen to....., anything she does you can't go wrong.
You're missing the fact that Angelina is the one who is in charge in all of her videos. After you see/hear a few dozen more you'll see that she is the one masterfully making all of the decisions. You're going to find that you will come to expect that she will do a cover that often/usually is significantly better than the original. She puts a lot of thought and emotion into each word and phase. She really makes any song come to life in a way that the original artist often cannot. And her original songs are magnificent too. You'll see.
You guys are really irritating to watch. Here is this genius child singer slaying this performance at 9 years old, stop laughing at her and show some respect.
Loved it: "Who's this about? The ice-cream man?" She does mean what she is singing. "Is that good enough?" Sounded like a sly John Lennon rooftop reference. Great reaction, she slayed it!
It's difficult to react to this because it's hard to process this barely 9 year old child singing this song as good if not better than many before her have performed especially when you are musicians that have years of experience. NEXT UP: "FEELING GOOD, Live on the Stream Gir Tilbake" ON STAGE WITH A FULL JAZZ BAND AT 10 YEARS OLD. It may be one of the best if not the best version you've ever heard. GREAT REACTION, LOVED IT!!!!!
She's covering Screamin' Jay Hawkins. That is the face on the candle she was holding. Also, it was not her homework, it was notes to the music director. Angelina does all her own arranging.
This was a one-off. She never risked straining her larynx again. Her personality, here, was determination. She wanted to do a proper tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins. I think she did.
@@toolman1one86 I heard from only one pro (vocal couch) regarding the riskiness of singing like this. The pro worried that if Angelina kept doing it, it could damage her voice. If you can direct me to a video of any pro that specifically says that this is not risky (effortless does not count), I would appreciate it.
Thank you both for a great reaction to this masterpiece performance by the Barefoot Angel. Here Angelina is honoring the legend Screamin Jay Hawkins (RIP) using her own rendition of the original song. Watching Angelina’s more than 140 covers, rehearsals, and original performances on YT is like following your most favorite TV serial, except this show will last for decades to come.
She is not giving them her homework!!! She is giving them the arrangement! The band nicknamed her the boss! Watch in the video she is giving timing and rolling her eyes at the Sax.
Having read through all comments on this reaction please know this: Any rude, mean, ignorant or cavalier comments are most assuredly NOT from true Angels (Angelina's own term for her fans). Angels may differ in opinion on many of Angelina's performances (timing, phrasing, intonation, vocal range, vocal fry, her melodious and perfect runs, etc.) but we never denigrate reactors and certainly not Angelina herself. Such behavior is anathema to loving Angelina as purely as she loves us. While her talent is seemingly endless and off planet, this is exceeded in abundance by the sheer simple beauty of her soul and message. I think you guys did fine reacting to this astonishing one off masterpiece as your first exposure to Angelina. I have been following her career for years now and every new recording or performance by this healer leave me gobsmacked and overjoyed. Keep up with her. There will never again be anyone this consistently great in so many different ways. Thank you again!
Sure , more of her anytime soon. This performance one might think it is a little bit overacting or oversinging on Angelina‘s side, but compared to the original , she is quiet moderate in her interpretation. There are so many great covers she did that it’s quiet difficult which one to choose. Maybe her latest „Heal the world /Michael Jackson“ would be good, also her own songs “7 Th heaven“ and „ Million miles“ , you will need to listen to many of her 130+ songs to capture her versatility, because nearly every song she invents herself new and remarkably remaining always authentic and true to herself, at least in my opinion.
here she is 9yo old, the whole song has been rearranged, the original is from Screamin 'Jay Hawkins 1956 all the bands she plays with call them TheBoss because she sets the tone but in a very respectful way today she is 15yo old there are over 130 covers by all the popular stars as well as classic and 5 originals that she wrote herself (google translater)
Thanks for the latest episode of Musicians React featuring Angelina Jordan. Quite a different take on I Put a Spell on You. Really enjoyed her version. Hard to believe that incredible voice at her age.
She alters her voice to suit the song. Try"I'm still holding out for you, age 10 or Whitney's " I Have Nothing, at 12 then "All I ask "at 15 She tells the message of the song.
I hear what you’re saying but I don’t think they’re laughing AT her. I think The shock of hearing that voice come out of a 10 year old girl with such maturity depth and character leave you speechless to understand it. And that’s not even taking into consideration that she’s singing like she’s lived it at that age. Truly what are the most unbelievable talents I’ve ever seen and I’m 71 years old. She’s no joke and that’s for sure but I’m a funny guy and I can usually find some humor in everything. When they asked who is she singing about the ice cream man I thought no, she’s the foster child from hell it’s not going away. She doesn’t care if you don’t want here she’s yours right now. And that’s not making light of her talent in anyway. I’ve watched many of her performances and in tears at the end of every one of them. She’s truly unbelievable. By the way the two of you are so close to discovering another shockingly amazing talent who was on the show that season. Marcelito Pomoy singing the prayer, Along with two other songs. I hope you take time to have a lesson.
I like you, guys! Your comments are funny and refreshing. I hope that you will continue to react to her, and to Dimash. They both are, it sems to me, renewing the music industry by "singing in the spirit", with an attitude. They go farther than other artists: they bring a welcoming air of renewal, of transformation of the old ways of singing. Furthermore, they "feel" their songs, don't you think?
@@AndreaSilvestro Great reaction to the singing child prodigy Angelina Jordan! Wanna be blown away once again? Then please react to her cover of Etta James' "I'd rather go blind". Here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/pK8mMXQb3_I/v-deo.html
@@AndreaSilvestro Thanks for the review. I am a real fan of Angelina and other artists as well. I like your style, and remember when I first saw Angelina attack music with passion, like she saw and heard from Screamin’ Joe as he sang this now iconic song. I am taking deep breaths to lower my heart rate after seeing emotions all over the place today. Stay with Angelina and other emerging artists for a while, I want to hear your thoughts as musicians yourselves.
The great and carefully selected musicians in the band know that she is the 'boss!' The 'homework' that you saw at the beginning is her own arrangement of the music. She WILL correct them, if what she calls her 'wishes' are not followed. The child is a force of nature at the age of 9.
She’s now 15 years old something like 140 videos 4/5 originals her talent is endless any song you find by her will truly amaze the both of you..... i’m so excited you’re reacting to her..... thank you!!
Now aboard the AJ express, welcome to the world of the barefooted princess and jazz queen Angelina Jordan. Witness her climb to the top. Lots think she has already made it. Pick any song of the over 132 plus 7 originals All covers are her arrangements and originals written by her. Best voice and class in my 70 years.
Dear Andrea, Yes, a lot of personality: First home video shows her singing Whitney Houston at one and a half. At 6, she is singing in a recording studio of her school. At 8 she wins Norway's Got Talent. At 10 singing many classics like Feeling Good which I hope you will react to. See ua-cam.com/video/p8kAL-sGJx8/v-deo.html Enjoy your reactions, Thanks!
It is truly a conundrum when we try to rationalize how it is possible that this tiny sweet-faced 9yo Norwegian girl can step up to microphone, flip some switch within her, become this "beast-mode" version of herself (most probably named "AJ don't play"), deliver an extraordinary and musically and socially sophisticated performance, then just-like-that return to the pensive young lady once again... There aren't words for this! "I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video). She starts low, rising in intensity throughout and finishes in an unexpected and practically operatic style. You must go and listen to Hawkins' original (and throw in a couple of "famous" covers as well) to see the true genius in how AJ incorporates many of his vocal elements [usually omitted by most singers]. This shows another aspect of her musical IQ and arranging genius (not to mention her masterful control of her vocal instrument equaled by few others regardless of age). OK, i'm about ready to listen to your reactions, I stumbled on Dimash from watching our barefoot angel here. That said, I'm glad you are going down this rabbit hole now. This song will blow you away i'm pretty sure. 9 years old and arranged the music to this song. She is just unbelievable . She and Dimash are now about the same age. I think for the good of mankind, they should make a baby together, just imagine the vocals. lol The other musicians don't wonder what they are going to do in the song, Angelina tells them. And to blondie, she's not singing about the ice cream man, she grew up listening to the jazz greats and knows how to emulate what she hears into her own style. Once her family found out this song was about suicide, Angelina no longer sings this. Thank you Andrea for your spot on reaction
Out of the whole video, my favorite part besides Angelina of course was the subtle little "you might wanna rethink that" lmfao that cracked me up for some reason 😂🤣
I think this is Angelina's love song to the world. Whether or not the world loves her back she will just keep on putting her love out there with her songs.
Matters not how the band is or is not, all that matters is SHE is the boss. Accept it or find another gig. Truly she is the boss and if you're not helping then you are hurting her music and that won't happen. She is way more serious about her music than you or any of us. Her home work as you called it is a note of wishes to the conductor. She made changes he needed to know about. Instead of demanding the change she requested the change. If he had refused not sure we would have the song.
in the time she was learning to talk she was listening to grannies jazz music, they say you learn more in the first 3 years of your existence then any other time in your life which might explain her voice. first time i heard her i thought i was listening to billy holiday reincarnated
At some point you two will recognize that you stumbled onto something quite extraordinary in Angelina Jordan. You're still at that "isn't she cute?" stage, but you will eventually move past that.
Embrace the pain, embrace the humiliation. She's a beast, a musician's musician. You're watching a prodigy, obviously. Enjoy the journey, if you choose to go down that rabbit hole.
You two are AMAZING, I've seen you both perform. Angelina transcends our world in her journey through space and time, leaving a wake of tears from joy during the experience.
Uh, I like to say, "Nothing personal," but I've listened to a couple of hundred reactions to her and I have never heard a reactor I liked less than this guy.
(PS) On “I put a spell on you” that she filmed at 9 as a tribute to Screaming Jay Hawkins. Angie said it in an interview (when she was around 10 at interview) about this song: It means love Desperate love. It's very special, it's almost voodoo The original is very nice, and when I scream it is a desperate cry that everyone should love each other.
Greetings from Scotland! Now you know why AJ is the phenomenon she is! Even at this age she sang like a 50yo jazz singer with all the emotion and experience of a long career! I can't wait until this damned pandemic is brought to it's knees so the worlds young singers can "let rip" out there in the world. People like AJ, Daneliya Tuleshova, Diana Ankudinova, and so many, many more are straining at the leash to get going! I can almost hear the explosion and feel the earthquake in the distance! Great reaction again guys! Your initial reaction of "This'll be a bit of fun" slowly became "Damn, this kid has something very special!" was a delight to see! Have a great week! :)
HA! That was fun too LOL welcome aboard the AJ Express - buckle up and have some fun! ... btw, 15 - also, not sure how y'all's tastes run (how does one make y'all possessive - 'cause that just looks wrong LOL) anyway - not sure what you like in performances, but you may find AJ's performances to be far more personal with less stage setup - less "commercial" than, say, a Dimash or Diana ... in fact, many of her videos were filmed and cut by her grandmother heh heh - anyway, look forward to your next AJ reaction.
Thanks for the great reaction. If you are serious about Angelina you will have a most glorious and unbelievable journey. This angel, now 15, I believe to be the greatest singer ever recorded. You can literally pick from any of her more than 130 covers on UA-cam or her 5 original tunes. Her originals would make any songwriter take notice and her covers always pay respect to the original artist while greatly improving and putting her indelible stamp on them. Her list of accomplishments are vast in many diverse areas. She is a singer/songwriter/arranger, An artist and clothes designer. She speaks Norwegian, Farsi and English fluently and is studying Japanese and Swedish. She plays piano, flute, violin and guitar. She is also a philanthropist who donates a great deal of time and money to children's and environmental charities and causes. She has given command performances to 4 heads of state and to live audiences numbering less than 50 to 40,000 giving to each equal measure of her prodigious talent. She is also the youngest singer to be invited to sing at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony. She has been professionally courted by dozens of professionals in music. She sang "Fly Me to the Moon' with full orchestra at Quincy Jones' 85th birthday celebration in London and it was at Quincy's personal request. She has collaborated at concerts or in the studio with many artists whose names you would surely know and respect. Angelina is also Norway's youngest published author. The book was not ghostwritten but, rather, Based on her diary account of her meeting a homeless girl in the Middle East when Angelina was 6 years old. Above it all she remains a sweet, shy, gentle soul, a young woman of grace, beauty, hope and empathy. I can go on like this for pages without repetition but my goal here was to inform and hopefully peak your interest. Please do continue to react to Angelina. You will never regret it and I want to see more of your reactions. They are appealing in a way I can't quite articulate. Perhaps it is as simple as the great chemistry you two seem to have in abundance. Thanks again.
I really like Andrea's smiles rather than your smirks--you are watching a true miracle. This little star Angelina Jordan will shine very bright for many years to come.
That paper - in the opening - wasn't her doing her homework, but proposing the arrangement (look at the reaction from the producer). As for whether she knows what that song is about, yes, and she chose that song. Since she was eight years old, she has been the one to choose the songs and structure the arrangements and even certain melodies and accompanying rhythms and riffs. She is the best. She is unbelieveble.
This performance has now been viewed over 66 MILLION times. You have just experienced a MASTERPIECE that will stand the annals of all time, this girl is destined to be the greatest STORYTELLING vocalist of our time We all fall in love with AJ on the very first performance we experience, it is not just her voice, it is her total being as a human being. For me it's like having another granddaughter.
i love reactions to Angelina,,,,,,,they tell us so much about us ,,,,humans,,,,,,,and so much more,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,glad Angelina came along,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
She was only 9 years old when she performed this song. It is her tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, an American singer/songwriter. He wrote and performed it in 1956 and Angelina based her performance on the original, although she did make some subtle alterations to both lyrics and melody. As you continue your journey of discovering Angelina, you will come to realise that she does her own arrangements of most of the cover songs she sings. The differences may not be immediately discernible on first listening to them, but they are there. There may be a subtle change in tempo or tone, or more inflexion on some words, or a phrase may differ in pitch from the original. The amount of control that Angelina has over her voice cannot be measured. She never hurries a song. She sings in such a way that the emotions in the lyrics are felt by the listener. In this video did you notice:Angelina finishing some notes and handing them to the pianist, who smiled as he read them? They were her wishes (instructions) to the band how she wished therm to play the music. Then a brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, a well known and respected Iranian artist, who is also Angelina's maternal grandmother and the person who encouraged Angelina in her love of music, especially jazz. And then there is a shot of Angelina holding a candle upon which was an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins. Lastly, did you notice how the "performing" Angelina, singing at a level of maturity far beyond her years, suddenly became a 9-year-old child almost instantaneously once she finished singing. From the time I first heard Angelina, way back at her first audition on Norway's Got Talent, she has amazed me.
She actually sounded better at 9 than she does now. Being that talented, there's no way she shouldn't have already put out an album, 16 for a first album isn't that rare.
@@astralmindny9055 It's because of protective parents, who wanted her to finish school, and to live as a child. They have chosen not to make any record-deal before she was 15, despite a lot of offers from the largest companies. I really like Billie Eilish, but the voice of Angelina Jordan is way beyond Billie Eilish.
@@jrnhelgemagnussen9579 ok I see. I actually just heard of her today and I'm still listening to her, I just hope she doesn't let the industry pimp her out, because we both know how the "elites" do.
@@astralmindny9055 If Billie Eilish is your yardstick, then you're going to discover that Angelina is far far above and beyond her in terms of raw talent and performance. Listen to a couple dozen songs from Angelina first. You'll see. Angelina will be known as among the very few best-of-the-best (since sound was first recorded) in a few years... And I'm not kidding.
I don't doubt the musicians were surprised by Angelina's performance, but they were assuredly aware of her and knew who she was. She did win Norway's Got Talent as eight years old and had performed at many jazz festivals and concerts by this time.
Three of the musicians she performed with more than a few times previously. They had played with her at some of her concerts. The fourth was a friend of the other musicans.
Great reaction, thanks so much for sharing! 💖 Why dont you check out her newest single '7th Heaven' live in studio, and get an idea of who she is as an artist 😊
I can't believe she was so young and she certainly has a lot of personality. Feel free to tell us more ideas if you want us to react to her again.

Noticed that aswell ❤ The barefoot story, an emphatic human being at age of 6 years old. Incredible ❤
Gloomy Sunday😍 (Norway's got talent)
The "homework" at the beginning was Angelina making corrections to her arrangement of Screamin Jay Hawkins version of this jazz classic. The picture on the candle is in fact Screamin Jay showing her tribute to him. In an interview with one of the musicians who play with her said that he and his fellow artists do not think of Angelina Jordan as a singer, but as a fellow musician.
No thanks.
Not after laughing in such dismissive way at children.
Until you learn to support our young ones.... Goodbuy!
9 year 2 month old Angelina creates her arrangement (writing on the pages) then takes charge of the studio and band to belt out the best version of this Screamin Jay Hawkins classic. She is a musical genius with the best voice I have ever heard.
Angelina in beast mode when she perform screaming jay hawkings song from 1956.
Copied from another commenter. In an interview Angelina said later (then 10yo) about this song: "It means love! Desperate love. It's very special, it's almost voodoo! The original is very nice, and when I scream it is a desperate cry that everyone should love each other."
In no time, you'll be laughing at how funny it was to hear the queen of jazz sing at 9 years old.
They should hear her at seven, on Norway's Got Talent. 😁
As if they saw a ghost 👻 or an alien 👽.
Wow 9 years old, that's insane! She's so sassy! 💗
It’s a lot more than “personality”. They don’t really know much about such quality of an exceptional artist
Of course we want more of Angelina, she's the best singer in the world. She's 15 now by the way
Welcome to Angelina's world. The deeper you dig the more amazed you will be. We fans like to call it the Angelina rabbit hole. You'll get lost in her originality, glorious sounds, and angelic presence and personality.
If you watch jamming on portrait of a child you can see her working with the same band and that she is the centre of the creative process.
You have just witnessed the greatest performance ever by a 9-year-old singer. She is 15 now.
I consider this one of best music performances ever filmed. Period.
@@classicsciencefictionhorro1665 She's obviously going for a full music career, so I'm just waiting to see how big she'll be by her 20's. Another Norwegian world talent :)
@@mynewname7830 lol.
Original song was by "Screaming Jay Hawkins" (the face in the candle) she is now 15 (as of January 10th 2021)
In just a few years, I know that we will see great things from Angelina.(Google translate)
If you need to identify who she sound like, I can tell you that she has 1000 different voices to choose from, depending on the song choice and type ..
@@jeffreyjenkins1242 can't wait for her to dominate the chart...still waiting though...
I would love to see you react to her performance of Summertime during Norway’s Got Talent when she was 8 years old.
You've seen what is likely to be a modern day Mozart video that will go down in history - but from your facial expressions, intent on pleasing you, you didn't notice ... and this is significant ....
❤️ your reaction and Welcome to Angelina’s world. You just found the worlds next Mega Super Star just waiting to take the world over 👍🙂❤️
just for you to know the music is professionally done,,, the team is perfect
You guys are really cute. Angelina was born with more gusto than most of us are able to muster in our whole lives. Yeah, definitely more Angelina.
That wasn't homework. She does her own musical arrangements so she was marking changes for the music director and as you saw he enjoyed looking at them.
I've always imagined that note was to insert the "Hey hey hey what's up" exclamation.
She herself deserves a Nobel Prize. That’s for sure.
@@shortycircuity She has probably done more for world peace along with her philanthropic endeavors than 99% of world leaders.
Nobody ever mentions her impeccable timing. She is always right on with the band.
Methinks this is what the objective is: more subscribers. No?
You're missing the fact that Angelina is the one who is in charge in all of her videos. After you see/hear a few dozen more you'll see that she is the one masterfully making all of the decisions. You're going to find that you will come to expect that she will do a cover that often/usually is significantly better than the original. She puts a lot of thought and emotion into each word and phase. She really makes any song come to life in a way that the original artist often cannot. And her original songs are magnificent too. You'll see.
Saxophonist, this arrangement is genius, who did it?
Director, the singer
One could tell you both were taken back but tried not to let the other see that RESPECT is in order for this Hall of Fame performance.
You guys are really irritating to watch. Here is this genius child singer slaying this performance at 9 years old, stop laughing at her and show some respect.
Agree 100% !
Loved it: "Who's this about? The ice-cream man?"
She does mean what she is singing.
"Is that good enough?"
Sounded like a sly John Lennon rooftop reference.
Great reaction, she slayed it!
ty!
The ice cream man comment, that , along with spells cast from young girls comments were creepy at best.
Angelina,a young living legend!
"Is she a witch"? NO more like an angel! SHEESSHH!
I also suggested that one. Absolutely killer!
The best display of musical virtuosity I have ever heard, from an Angelic 9 year old girl. Just wow wow wow.
Technically, this is a seamless combining of two or three full studio sessions.
An all out styling here.
Apparently naturally low register singing voice, should also see her I Have Nothing performance at age 6 in a first visit to a pro recording studio.
Heck yes! More More More Angelina. There is so much more of her music to react to.
I would love to see you react to her performance of the James Brown classic, It’s A Man’s World, when she was 12 years old.
Just INCREDIBLE and so beyond her years❣‼
Sure , more of her anytime soon.
If you listen to her song "Million Miles" know the back story first. It makes the song much more emotional.
here she is 9yo old, the whole song has been rearranged, the original is from Screamin 'Jay Hawkins 1956 all the bands she plays with call them TheBoss because she sets the tone but in a very respectful way today she is 15yo old there are over 130 covers by all the popular stars as well as classic and 5 originals that she wrote herself (google translater)
She performed this rendition at 9. She is 15 now and even better.

Ah, you discovered this one. She has a lot of material on UA-cam.
Furthermore, they "feel" their songs, don't you think?
tysm!

Ken - Beautifully articulated. Thank you for such an amazing comment. 👍
If he had refused not sure we would have the song.
that's a really unique jazz thing it's called talking to the band.
in the time she was learning to talk she was listening to grannies jazz music, they say you learn more in the first 3 years of your existence then any other time in your life which might explain her voice. first time i heard her i thought i was listening to billy holiday reincarnated
She arranged this! She’s used to the jazz musical interludes, even at this age.
At some point you two will recognize that you stumbled onto something quite extraordinary in Angelina Jordan. You're still at that "isn't she cute?" stage, but you will eventually move past that.
We will see
Embrace the pain, embrace the humiliation.
Me too, better not say any more.Don't know why I'm watching it as he is so annoying.
I agree. It was so annoying that I became irritated at their ignorance and wrote a scathing comment about their disrespect toward this child prodigy.
This guy is sooooo irratating to the point of annoying me. and for her saying, " is she a witch, bloody pair of idiots.
Grandgrandpa here: She take the Studio and give the Producer a Note, how she won't to do this. After the Video- the Band call here Boss.😁
(PS) On “I put a spell on you”
that she filmed at 9 as a tribute to Screaming Jay Hawkins.
Heard about RESPECT ???
And a grown man joking about little girls put a spell on him.. Disgusting!
Her homework was notes to the band of how she wanted it to sound :)
When it comes to AJ, I can listen to her any time anywhere ❤👍
I really like Andrea's smiles rather than your smirks--you are watching a true miracle. This little star Angelina Jordan will shine very bright for many years to come.
Please check out her rehearsal of Fly Me To The Moon.
You have just experienced a MASTERPIECE that will stand the annals of all time, this girl is destined to be the greatest STORYTELLING vocalist of our time
We all fall in love with AJ on the very first performance we experience, it is not just her voice, it is her total being as a human being. For me it's like having another granddaughter.
i love reactions to Angelina,,,,,,,they tell us so much about us ,,,,humans,,,,,,,and so much more,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,glad Angelina came along,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
She is a precious gem, simply
Too much silly teenage flirting and not enough respect for the artists
That look right at the end is her thinking, "Now, where did I put my dolls?"
You will love her cover of I Rather go blind ❤ Angelina Jordan Astar is phenomenal ❤
She is telling the band what she wants in those notes. She leads them. Also, English isn’t her first language. She is Incredible!
“Who is this girl?” Now at 15, the best singer in the world. Make fun at that, silly man.
Bille eilish!!
Angelina has been singing for 7.5 years before this performance... almost a veteran :)
👩🏻🎤🎵🌎⭐️🇳🇴❤️ Hey, hey, hey, hey, watch out! She ain't lyin'!!! More Angelina please!
Great reaction, thanks so much for sharing! 💖 Why dont you check out her newest single '7th Heaven' live in studio, and get an idea of who she is as an artist 😊
It was not her homework. It was her instructions for the director. Angelina does her own arrangements.
Not only did she slay it, but she did the arrangement
