Another thing that made Truth and Reconciliation so good was your ammo count. For this level the amount of sniper ammo you can carry is increased from around 24 to 64. Really drove home that this was a sniper mission. It also gave you the peace of mind that you had all the ammo you needed to succeed while being able to fire the gun liberally and just have fun
The best part of playing co-op sniper levels is when my brain is smeared on the wall after a "stray bullet" lodges into my brain Next thing I know im having cofee with captain keyes on a farm on the outskirts of New Alexandria discussing why the hell Johnson taking so long
Halo 2 mission "Regret" was definitely me and my brothers favorite Sniper mission. As a bunch of elementary kids we wanted to complete Halo 2 on legendary just for the challenge and knowing well how crazy the Jackals are we created dedicated rolls for each other. I was the sniper and he was the spotter...just good times
Nightfall is hands down my favourite sniper level ever, possibly even my favourite overall. The vibe of the level combined with Reach’s artstyle just works so well.
"If you can manage to take the sniper rifle inside the covenant ship" On LASO, you don't get a third weapon for the entire level. You're stuck with the AR and however many sniper bullets you can save. Very very fun with famine and recession.
4:55 if you look around when ever your master chief, theres actually a human sniper anytime theres a beam rifle. you always get to choose, this is bungie era baby.
On the mission "Halo" you don't have to kill a marine to get a sniper. There's one on a rock by one of the groups of marines you need to extract and another by a lifeboat before going to any of the stranded groups
@@cordedquill4286 I recommend dealing with the Covenant with the Sniper Rifle there however the Flood have some rockets in that encounter so yeah a good backup weapon on hand. Probably a Plasma Rifle or Pistol at the very least since those are decent against the Flood Combat Forms.
You don't have to kill a friendly, you've got one laying next to the escape pod in that same area, or one leaning against a rock in one of the other rescue spots.
Halo 2 where you mentioned picking up the beam rifle. Go around the edge to th right instead of dropping into the fray and there's a human sniper rifle. Doesn't make a huge difference but I figured it'd be a neat little factoid you'd mention. Reach, you don't have to whip around behind hunters. They modeled the armour right and you can do the same damage by hitting their necks from the side or front. Any orange you see should be an orange spray.
Starting at 1:26, the "Quarry" area at the beginning of T&R: I have NEVER seen a video of ANY player actually taking out ALL the Covies without alerting them and bringing in the Marines. My first time through the Level, sometime in 2002, I kept repeating that scene until I could take out every single Covie there without triggering the Marines to come in. Which is how I found out that, contrary to Cortana's instructions to the Marines ("Don't open fire until you hear the enemy return fire on us") goes unheeded after I've killed ALL the Covies that were present when I started. After _those_ Covies are killed, there are two 'waves' that come down the path on the far side: One team of an Elite and 2 Grunts, and two Jackals and 4 grunts. But as soon as I kill the last 'existing' (there when I arrived) Covie, the dramatic music starts and the Marines come charging in to spoil my stealth tactics. So by summary court-martial and execution of my Marines first (before I kill off the last 'existing' Covie), I'm able to kill every single Covie that enters that area, without any of them getting a single shot off. I'm not a skilled player. Not modesty, just honest. So if I can do that, I'm pretty sure most other players can do it too. Yet, I have NEVER seen a video of any player actually taking that place by stealth. Anybody know of such a video? PS: Btw, I use the Sniper Rifle to kill almost every single Covie in the first room on the ship (the "Gravity Lift Bay"), but my playing style (requires stealth and patience) is way different from most of you.
halo 3's crow's nest with the downed pelican at the river gets you both beam rifles before the forest of carbine jackals, and a unsc sniper rifle at the crash site, which lets you scope out the area holding johnson before you storm it, with a wide open vantage point of highground. unironically the best sniper level in halo 3, since it's more like the grav lift section of truth and reconciliation with multiple waves that get dropped off by phantoms and picked off one by one.
as soon as I unlocked the Sniper Variant in Infinite, it had a permanent spot in my loadout. Sometimes I went Sniper Variant and Skewer Variant just for the meme
Interesting. As someone who also loves sniping, after trying to take out an HVT, I couldn't stand the Sniper Rifle variant. What did you like about it?
i would say outskirts in halo 2 is a sniper level. you can get SGT Johnsons sniper and there is a hidden one after the hunters and loads of ammo for it and all the beam rifles you can pick up from the jackals. but i guess its a sniper/br level. still thats probebly the one i think of the most in halo 2.
note for about one minute in, there is also a sniper rifle at the rock slide and at a crashed escape pod making "asking" a marine for his rifle not needed
Ah yes, Nightfall, my favorite level to do co-op on only to get betrayed, not by the person I'm playing co-op with, but by Jun being the absolute worst shot ever...
Truth and Reconciliation was one of the reasons I joined the Marine Corps. "Hit it Marines, Go! Go! Go! the corps ain't payin us by the hour" If that aint the Truth!
In halo 3 tsavo highway you can get a sniper between the skull and where the first wraith shows up. It’s just after the bridged if you go to the top of the gate you walk through
Oh god I’m having nightmares of LASO on TnR in Halo CE. That fu*king mission took the good part of half a year to beat! It wasn’t continuous throughout the year, but more 2-3 sessions a month.
Not exactly a 'level' but the firefight map Windward in halo 3 ODST starts you off with a sniper rifle, and theres some ammo hidden on the map that respawns every round so it's the 'sniper map.' Figured i'd mention it even if it is my least favorite map in the game lol
"Halo" and "Assault on the Control room" have multiple sniper spawns... There's no need to kill your marines. Two betrayals is actually one of the best sniper levels, and it didn't even get a mention.
in CE you do get the chance at an easy double headshot on a couple of jackals down a hall....if you're motivated enough you could pick off prison guards with the rifle.
"shot at in the alley ways".. shot at isnt the word for it, you turned that corner and you just fell down dead.... xD Jackals and their aim bots xD. Literally it was so bad on co-op my friend had to hang back while I dealt with the jackals because I knew their locations to where I can just no scope them from a distance because they were so irritating in the past I just muscle memorized their spots xD
Truth and Reconciliation is ruined for me, my mate and I made a challenge where if we die we restart of legendary. took us HOURS, then he dies in the final cutscene. Yep, we had to restart.
Can’t really say “sniper levels” when it’s just you picking up a sniper in a random level for some of the games, but I also can’t blame you for the fact that some of these same games have no “sniper levels” so you’re only limited to the overall sniper experience.
The sniper section on Reclaimer for me was SO easy even on legendary, actually the whole H4 legendary was the easiest after Forerunner(i got genuinely frustrated in that one)
Honestly I loved the halo reach sniper and I was a halo 3 fanboy. Perhaps it was that in reach you could basically hit a shoulder and get a headshot lol
You must be playing a different T&R than I do. I usually take a Sniper Rifle and Plasma Rifle from ground into the Grav Lift Bay. The engine doesn't switch anything. Maybe you keep the "rifle" by buying an original Xbox console and using an original Halo:CE disc? Are you by any chance thinking of the beginning of Level 5, AotCR?
I see you playing through Shutdown with that Binary Rifle that has infinite ammo but... As much as I like the Binary Rifle, you get so little ammo for it that I hardly get to enjoy it. Sure it's a special weapon but at least the regular Sniper Rifle has more shots for you to use.
I'm going to be honest, I think that (At least in campaign) the Halo : reach sniper rifle is a bit under powered against things like generals and it takes more than a full magazine of ammo.
Wow, you guys missed so so many locations of Sniper Locations and levels that you can use it on. But I can agree with some of your points. also how do you guys get away with Play thru's with unlimited ammo.?
There's sniper sections in a lot of missions but they didn't count some of them as "sniper misisons" because sniping isn't the primary focus and you can take whatever approach. Which is true of the "real" sniper missions but in those you're typically expected/told to snipe
Halo 2 and 4 are the worst games with the Sniper Rifles imo, shouldn't take more than one shot to the head of a Brute or Elite with armor piercing rounds.
I WISH!!! I would LOVE to have a Sniper in that Level. Has it been a long time since you played Halo:CE? There's no Sniper in Silent Cartographer. If you know of one, 🤨 please enlighten me about where I can find it! I usually do my sniping with the Pistol, from up on top of the island. Not as easy as with the Sniper Rifle, but effective and lots of fun.
The Ark is pretty miserable as a sniper level imo, short range basically the whole way. Should have just led with a rocket if they wanted to give you a power weapon.
On Halo if you don't want to "politely ask" a marine for a sniper you can find one leaning on a rock at one of the evac points.
Also one by one of the life pods in the central hub area between the three different evac areas.
Yep it’s just thrown in the ground. The pod has no survivors
Idk how this guys have so much content on the Halo games, and still seem to be oblivious to so many details and basic things

Halo Reach's DMR makes the whole game a sniper level.
Nightfall is big W
Not 20 minutes of Luke's aim
3:40 Two Betrayals has a Sniper Rifle toward the end too... Actually, it's at the cave over there on Two Betrayals.
