The original nearing the century mark, this reimagining 50 years old...and the Playing for Change cover featuring JPJ on bass gives me chills, every time I hear it!❤️
I love it when young people discover the music we were privileged to grow up and old with! I still rock out with Zep cause their music never grows old!
Isn’t it a freaking blast watching people react to Zeppelin for the first time? I’m with you. Zero bad tracks or fillers. I’m 62 and was hooked the first time I heard them on A. M. radio (Whole Lotta Love). All timers!❤
Best reaction yet I remember seeing them play this in 1971, album was just released. I was 19 THIS was the music of my era. Best rock ever produced Man, the concerts I saw at that time ….
As others have commented below, this song was recently covered by artist from around the world in Playing for Change...everyone needs to hear it to appreciate the timeless and borderless relevance of Led Zeppelin....and JPJ rides the bass...it's a universal vibe!
I love to watch your reactions! They are so pure and reminds me of myself hearing for the first time growing up as a kid in the 60s/70s. Just think, there was an new iconic kick ass song coming out EVERY DAY.
This was them at their absolute creative peak. Their brand was built on taking pretty standard blues and mangling it into something bigger. Earlier tunes were more focused on sex (The Lemon Song, How Many More Times). This one took a real folk song about loss, and rather than the standard mangling they made something transcendent. The harmonica and the atmosphere of dread and doom it creates is one of the best things ever.
t’s a terrible storm, the moanful sound of the wind(harp & guitar) The unrelenting pounding if the surf(drums) with cymbal crashing waves And the winding down of the storm like a top losing speed Watch them play this live in 1971 at 19 years old. Album only out for few months Magical night 🎊😎🎸 Song is over 50 years old. Match it with today
Ok,you've earned my subscription! I could see you enjoyed this body and soul! There isn't one song that I don't like! Yes,I'm old, but I love seeing younger people getting off on my generations music!! ❤

Originally recorded by Kansas Joe McCoy & Memphis Minnie in 1929 but, you weren't refering that one, right?

Hard to overstate the influence of this track.
"When the Levee Breaks" is a country blues song written and first recorded by Memphis Minnie and Kansas Joe McCoy in 1929.
Which is an awesome version as well.
@@jerrypedit5383 If you're going to have your song nicked, why not by Led Zeppelin?
So love to see people discovering the music I grew up with, enjoy

Blues + hard rock absolutely genus that band 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Don't expect their songs to all sound the same. They were a very diverse band and they nailed every genre they tried.

This song is an old song about a 1929 disaster in Mississippi when the levee broke and flooded.

They recorded this in an old English estate. The harmonica echo effect was them recording it in a stairwell in the house.
C'MON DOGG!!! Levee as in LEVEE as in a dam that would break.
P.S. Love the reaction - so honest, can't hide those movements/emotion. PEACE.
