I agree with you. The job to the one who can get it done. However, there must still part of you that is glad for her.
This is a great, and helps open doors to other women. What isn't great is how many dudes in this comment section have a problem with it, jealous much? This woman has spent over 27 years in the military, yet her capability is being questioned by people who have never met her...
This should be a non issue these days. But, in our culture, everything is divided into colors and genders so it creates a first and a topic. She serves, she earned her qualification. She gets on with her business effectively and honorably. Fair winds and following seas.
it should be, but the culture war is an effective distraction from creating an actual war...if that is why, then pandering to people who's identify is wrapped up in their gender, race, religion, etc....is why it makes headlines...and i don't disapprove despite some of the detriments..

What an amazing story you have added to the History & evolution of THE UNITED STATES NAVY.
I enlisted in 1965, served in WESTPAC, mostly in Vietnam, from January 1967 to August 1970.
I was fortunate enough to serve on the USS CONSTELLATION CVA 64 for a few months, with my watch assignment being in FLIGHT-DECK LIGHTING. That put me in the Island sitting 3 chairs away from the CAG of night flight Ops. One of the best seats on the Ship to observe NIGHTTIME COMBAT FLIGHT OPERATIONS.
All of my introduction is about showing YOU, CAPTAIN, I have witnessed, however superficially, NAVY LEADERSHIP at THE HIGHEST LEVEL.
THANK YOU CAPTAIN, FOR YOUR LEADERSHIP, AMAZING SKILL SETS, FOR LIGHTING THE PATH FOR FUTURE LEADERS, MALE & FEMALE, & EPITOMIZING THE CORRECT WAY TO DO THIS JOB.

The Lincoln has always been a ship of firsts, much like her namesake President Lincoln, I served on board during her first WestPac; I served on her from 91 to 94.

Don't care about her gender. Only thing that matters to me is can she do the job or not. One thing I didn't realize is how young the average age of the crew is. What an incredible amount of money, resources, and above all responsibilities all being run by very young men and women. Is this common in the Navy?
There is another question - Will she follow orders, even if it violates one of her "principles"?

@@baltii41 Just posing a question - I have seen many instances where a woman in a position of power either misused that power or failed to follow the rules guiding her actions. Not that men don't also do this, but in my experience, it's more likely to happen with women. And - I have been a Captain.

It's about the capability that gets the job done. Gender is for nature to decide.
Actually, nature decides sex, whereas gender is and always has been a social construct. People who say they are the same are simply not aware that there is even a difference. Or they just don't want to admit they are wrong about not letting people be themselves for all this time. OR... we live in a purely deterministic universe and nature decides literally everything that happens thus there is no point in fighting for or against anything.

Still harder for a man to become one. Seeing diversity is working against them. Scientific fact from studies in USA and Europe: A man makes less then a woman based on he personally makes less do to the fact his family useds 85% to 95% of the income. A woman uses 40% and the family gets 60% on average. Woman get more scholarships then men.. woman get more job offers then men.. woman test scores are modified based on diversity. The list continues.....

What if she's caught in warfare? The battlefield is not for our sisters in humanity. Pushing buttons is not real warfare. As doctors and nurses taking care of the wounded is the limit and they get a share of the spoils, but not a fixed share like the cavalry and foot soldiers. The cavalry get two shares and the foot soldier one share. Her Jihad is Hajj or 'Umrah. In hollywood she can fight an entire squadron, but in real life, the u.s couldn't win over the Taliban.
If the US wanted to, they could have decimated the Taliban and those that would have wanted to join them, but that type of warfare rightfully ended in WW2 (for the most part).

Another Love Boat situation ALL over again. Happens everytime a female is in charge 😂🤣 Look it up, promise I ain't lying 🤥. Was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan '98 through '04 and saw it happen, not on the carrier, but on a smaller ship. 3/4 of the crew were female and most came back pregnant. Even the female officers, lots of explaining and divorces 🤣🤣🤣

If we’re going to make everything “equal”, why aren’t men allowed the same hair standards as the women? When I was in the Air Force 45 years ago, I would love to have been able to have my hair as long as this commander. I’m quite sure male sailors are still not allowed that length of hair.
