Where as, Bowe had too many wars, and aged quickly. I think a pre-Steward Lewis wouldn't beat Bowe. I don't see World Champion Bowe being bothered by a Rahman or a McCall. However, a prime Bowe vs the prime later Lewis would I think go Lewis' way. The bottom line is Bowe's manager was the ****s and should have let him fight Lewis when he was in his prime.

Apparently Eddie Futch (Bowe's trainer) was the one who nixed it. Futch knew enough about Bowe's strengths and weaknesses to know what was going to happen if Bowe fought Lewis. Bowe had shoddy defence and would get hammered by Lewis's right hand. Lewis would likely win by KO. Bowe's camp decided it definitely wasn't worth the risk.
