That first guitar note… like an injection of morphine to relieve your pain. You know it’s going to happen because… well, Floyd and Gilmour. You are both so right about this epic concert being the BEST.
Huge Pink Floyd fan! David Gilmour never disappoints. Pink Floyd has gotten me through the worst of times and the best of times. It’s hard to hold back the tears when I hear him play.
Yes the sound is the thing at a Pink Floyd concert. Comes at you from speakers placed 360° around the arena or stadium. Don't know of any other band that did that. And it's already in full effect the moment you walk in. As you're being seated you hear sounds of helicopters landing, lawn mowers going for one end of the stadium to the next. Airplanes, speed boats, geese in flight. So real you can almost see them. Just letting their audience know in advance they should expect the full Pink Floyd package along with the music.
I was fortunate to see PINK FLOYD live in concert 3 times. Twice on the Momentary Lapse of Reason tour, first in Austin and 10 months later in Dallas. Years later, I saw the Division Bell tour in San Antonio. I could write and write trying to describe what happened that first time in Austin. Me and my friend drove up to the arena and it was glowing pink! There was a huge inflatable cow on the grass too! They had changed the exterior lights! That hadn’t been done before. I knew right there that this was going to be very special and different. We hadn’t even gone inside yet and the show was already happening, (not the band). Not our first rodeo, both of us had been going to concerts for years already. This was our first PINK FLOYD concert. In the very first 5 minutes of the show, me and my friend were turning to each other with our mouths open in disbelief. I could try in vain to write everything that happened that night but it wouldn’t come close. The things that they used we unbelievable. Not even my favorite band and still to this day, the best concert I’ve ever seen, hands down. I’ve seen all the big bands numerous times live each. This was next level. Easily the best show. I’m glad I was there! Stories for days guys, I’ve got concert stories for days.
For those who don't know (and don't have the earlier DVD, or "The Later Years" box set), this gig is being re-released (restored & re-edited) as a standalone, double DVD or blu-ray, next year in 5.1 on Feb. 22. Even has the "pulsing" light on the spine, for those who remember the CD casing.
One of my favorite Floyd songs . A lot of people don’t realize that Roger Waters wrote about flat earth and David Gilmour at one time was an atheist . Opposites attract to monumental heights of greatness . Soulful tune !
I attended the Pulse concert in Lisbon in 1994, and believe me, Pink Floyd's music is from another dimension... In the middle of the concert I had goosebumps, I cried, I smiled, I dreamed, sometimes with my mouth open, not believing what I was seeing and listen... it's indescribable... It's music that touches our soul and heart... Pink Floyd's music will remain for many generations... Keep up with your reactions, because I like them and how you do them , with great reviews and opinions. Big hug from Portugal
I simply give this a like because Pink Floyd is a group that doesn't disappoint, their concerts are iconic, the way they perform their songs, they do their best to give the people what they paid for. Their live music is as good as their studio music, they don't change lyrics around or forget a verse, they take pride in their music, and it shows. I enjoyed watching this, guys, thanks!
Speaking of great Gilmour solos, here's a list of live songs with amazing solos that you haven't done yet. David Gilmour - Shine On You Crazy Diamond Parts VI-VIII (live in concert)
The Division Bell is a great album and Poles Apart (also played in the Pulse concert) is especially beautiful, although there doesn't seem to be a good video of it on You Tube, unless you pull it out of the whole concert video. The studio version is, of course, also beautiful. 💗
Poles Apart wasn't played on the night they filmed, so all we have are bootlegs from the rest of the tour. Same with Marooned, What Do You Want From Me, A Great Day For Freedom, Lost For Words, Hey You, On The Turning Away, Astronomy Domine, One Slip,... a real shame they filmed only one concert.
@@angelagraves865 The Pulse CD contains Astronomy Domine, What Do You Want From Me, A Great Day For Freedom, and Hey You. So at least we have HQ audio versions of those. A bootleg of the Copenhagen concert is on youtube, which has a great version of On The Turning Away.
All I can say is INCREDIBLE BEAUTIFUL!! Oohh my goodness!! I love Pink Floyd. Awesome set up you guys have there in the background, much improved. Love your reactions guys!! 😊💓👏👏👏👏
Guys, this is absolutely fabulous! I have this beautiful song downloaded and listen to it often, but to see and hear it in the Pulse concert is just magical. You can't go wrong with Pink Floyd can you?? You've reacted to quite a few songs from this particular concert and I've loved all of them. So, I just wondered if you were planning to react to High Hopes? I love this song too and listen to it a lot and it would be amazing from this concert! Thanks so much, guys, fabulous reaction as always.
Hi guys! Evelyn here from your patreon. just wanted to say “hi” and wish you both a wonderful Christmas…although I think you celebrate it later than we do….All the best, and thanks for so much great music over the past year! 🤗
Think about Gilmour at this age. Listen to his vocals. And remember this is just one song. Add in another 2 hours of him singing like this in a show on one night. Now multiply that by 3-4 shows a week and do it for four months. WOW!
When this album came out I was going through some stuff and it really helped me pull through. And to this day when things get hard it's the first thing I reach for
Fantastic reaction to a fantastic song and performance. Nick Mason was loving it!! Would love to see you react to Floyd's "On the Turning Away Live Remastered". It's from the Delicate Sound of Thunder Tour. The solo at the end is hugely extended compared to the studio original, and is amazing. Amazing vocals too.... especially the near-acapaella harmonies in the middle, and the high belt from one of the three backing singers.. Don't question it boys.... just react to it. It's stellar!!!
The remastered sound + picture of Delicate Sound of Thunder is absolutely stunning and includes the best ever version of "Comfortably Numb" - I waited 30 years for it to be fully restored but boy oh boy is it worth the wait. I was at one of those concerts on that tour in '88. This new remix is the best I have ever heard Pink Floyd live ! - "On The Turning Away" is indeed a stellar performance !!!!
It’s so nice to appreciate such great music. You guys really love Pink Floyd. Every time I listen to this song, I get emotional with tears. A great song to play first thing in the morning.
Hi guys, I hope you are well (you look well in the video), and hope you have a great Christmas and New Year. Great reaction as usual...but hey it's Pink Floyd right. This song is one of my favourites, 3 solos, great singing from David, and the entire band is sooo tight it's almost unbelievable. Others have suggested 'On The Turning Away' from Delicate Sound of Thunder tour and it's fantastic. I'd also like to suggest 'Keep Talking' from the Pulse tour as it has a particular performance from Gilmour that will blow you away, and have you in awe even more than usual. Take care!
Hey guys ! Love the album The Division Bell and all the live tracks from it on Pulse are brilliant.....However you do need to checkout the remastered concert from "A Delicate Sound of Thunder". I might agree with this about the solo but not the entire song, DSOT is all Gilmour & he sings both parts, I would rather suggest “On The Turning Away” from that tour 🤷♂️

"Angel of Mercy" live at the Greek Theater or "Mountain Time" live at the Royal Albert Hall. He's ranked as one of the all time guitar greats. Has had more #1 blues/rock songs and albums than anyone in history. It's time guys... It's time!
My favourite post Roger Waters Pink Floyd song. Credit to Polly Samson who co-wrote all of the songs on the Division Bell album and then became David Gilmour's wife
A lot of guitar players like Beck, or Vai, or Eddie, Carlos, Brian May etc.--are known for both their playing, and the sound of their guitar, pick-up setup, amp, and effects. But Gilmour uses mostly a pretty straight Strat sound with some pretty basic effects that he uses brilliantly. But most of his effect is in how he uses echoes, reverb, sustain and tremolo.
This reminds me of a song on Brian May’s solo album, Back To The Light. Just in subject matter and feel. I’m not saying you need to react to it, but suggesting you would both enjoy it…..it’s the title song Back To The Light.
Just subscribed, it good you guys are listening to the music & not just hearing it, I got into PF at about 13-14 in the 90s through randomly listening to my cousin & uncle . Totally changed my perspective on actually listening to music, DSOTM, then the Wall , then joined the Army at 16 had my own money and bought all I could get my hands on .. some of it is unmatched and timeless
Guys guys guys great reaction as always. David and everybody are so polished. Please do a favour for and do a reaction to Take it back. Great reactions as always. Love the channel.......
Division Bell was when I first heard them. Being stoned in a quiet pub in Scotland someone put this tune on the juke box and I don't know where I went for 4 minutes but wherever it was I wanted to go back there 😂😉
Full agreed on David's playing. His guitar is really loud in the mix even the rythm riffs. And generally he is spot on, or "typical Gilmour", but he does f-up once in a while. There's an uncut version of Comfortably Numb live in 1994 where he loses it for about 30 seconds during the final solo and then recovers. This bit was cut from the official release and doesn't feature in manu you tube vids. But it is there to be found and really interesting to hear him running into trouble and then getting out of it to a brilliant continuation. Maybe a string broke, who knows?

A David Gilmour solo is carved out of granite, with emotion and intensity. Unequaled.
How good also is Guy Pratt on bass? Of course David Gilmour is the Maestro, but the bass threads and weaves throughout the whole song.
