"Echoes" live at Pompeii. It's a long song often divided into 2 videos. Also, "Shine on You Crazy Diamond," which has 2 parts on the album "Wish You Were Here."
There is a PF song called "Marooned" that is an instrumental and it actually makes you feel like you are marooned on a space station. They also won a Grammy for that song in 1994.
There’s another video on here where he plays Marooned and then straight into Coming Back To Life followed by Shine On You Crazy Diamond and it’s amazing.
Pink floyd is the BEST. there will never be another band that come close. I was fortunate enough to see this concert in 94, and have never seen a stage like that. Huge and epic. 10a all across the board. Lighting, sound quality and level, and the fans are all the best ive ever seen.
Pink Floyd have created so many amazing tracks, so many works of absolute genius, but in my humble opinion, this is one of the most beautiful songs ever created. It may not have the epic guitar solo of Comfortably Numb, or the vocal power of The great gig in the sky, but from the very first haunting note of the guitar, it grabs your soul and proceeds to gently rip it apart. Gilmore's smooth voice, the lyrics, the guitar, the progression... everything just flows so beautifully.
Exactly right Maggie,… David leads you through the universe and into the eternal light. Godly guitarist. David Gilmour ,.. top two greatest guitarist with Jimmy page. Masterclass. Gorgeous stuff. Divine reaction Maggie Renee’. Thank you kindly.😀✌️🥂🤘
Until you've experienced Pink Floyd while under the influence of psychedelics you are only scratching the surface, imo. When you can lay back, fully immersed, close your eyes and SEE the music....then you'll know the magic!
Pink Floyd are the drug that’s needed everyday… There albums should be on scrip… But I do know what ya mean by a little extra help from a Moroccan woodbine or two, help enhance the experience 😊👍
The beginning solo you can close your eyes and be in the dark and it sounds cosmic; starts out slow and then gets faster and confident, like coming back to life, overcoming a bad situation perhaps. It’s like you made it through something rough! Excellent choice, always has been my fave Pink Floyd song!
David Gilmour is an extraordinary musician. And Pink Floyd as a band graced us with almost 30 years of sublime sounds and astonishing stage productions.
I saw this show in Pittsburgh at the old 3 rivers stadium, wow what a spectacle, 1 of the most memorable days of my 66 years, it makes me happy to see young people discover and love Pink Floyd, by the way, "Have a cigar"
Thanks! I love that Pink Floyd stayed so good for so long and could deliver the goods live as well as they could on albums. Loved your reaction and analysis.
One of the other things that really sets Pink Floyd apart from other bands is the backing vocalists. Incredibly talented ladies that have been a part of their music over the years
Really? They had Clare Torry on Great Gig. Album wise that is it for female collaborations. They used backing singers on stage only as far as I can recall, other than that one.
@@art98765 I wasn't talking about Clare Torry. I was talking about the backing vocalists. The McBroom sisters, Rachel Fury, Sam Brown, Claudia Fontaine, the list goes on. My first comment specifically said backing vocalists. So Clare Torry was not if for female vocalists with Pink Floyd.
Although it was written about something quite specific, like all truly brilliant songs almost anyone can relate. It's like coming through a really tough time in your life and the struggle being over and you feel the whole world opening up in front of you ready to start your life again.
Gilmour is a phenomenal guitarist, because he can make a solo a complete piece of music in its own right. Just fantastic. On an unrelated note, you might want to check out "BrothersIn Arms" by Dire Straits.
I love this song and that entire concert soooooo much! If you haven't heard, they performed the "Dark Side of the Moon" album from top to bottom during the middle of the show, which is an absolute must-see, imo...another favorite thing for me is the fact that tens of thousands of people just sit there, completely mesmerized by all that is happening until the end of each song ten politely and enthusiastically offer their applause in appreciation. Love it!!! Happy New Year 2024 🙂
Do the opening song of pink Floyd's dark side of the moon. Also to change things up some motley cruel and Ted nugent strangle hold be nice. Lots of Def lepords songs were mega hits.
Exactly how i felt listening to this and the whole of Pulse for the first time in 95. One of the most beautiful intros ever. Massive Gilmour and PF fan forever!!
One of my favorite PF songs for sure. Maybe my most listened song... The guitar is just magical from start to finnish! There is only one David Gilmour... Nobody else wont get even near!
the division bell is all about communication and (letting go of) things past... and this one is pretty direct... "where were you when i was bent and broken...."
AThey are a portal directly into the universes energy.....and your soul. This is what true art is about. The more you as an artist connect, the more you can bring back for others.
Although this is not from Dark side of the moon a great reaction to a powerful piece of music from Floyd. Dark side of the moon is well worth a listen from start to finish it is a concept album and meant to be listened to that way. it is also the 4th biggest selling rock album of all time, and it remained in the Billboard 200 albums chart for 736 nonconsecutive weeks (from 17 March 1973 to 16 July 1988) no other album has come close to that.
Yeah, Maggie - you were transfixed with your mouth open, listening to that opening solo. We understand. This is what Pink Floyd at their best does to to the rest of us.
One of my favorite versions of this song is on the David Gilmour solo tour from 2005. The background singers were so impressive that they are later featured in an Extra on the DVD. You could spend hours analyzing the swells and vowels of their track.
Long, long before you were born, Maggie, I learnt that the best way to listen to The Floyd was to lie down in a darkened room, preferably with good head 'phones on. Just let the music take you over.
I've been a diehard Moody Blues fan for my whole life. I also really like ELO, Alan Parsons, Elton John, the Stones, the Beatles, etc. but I have to say that no rock group or individual compares to Pink Floyd.
David Gilmour is the type of guitarist that places emphasis on the saying, “less is more”. He makes every note count. He, along with Eric Johnson and Carlos Santana are my favourite guitarists in regard to “Kings of Tone”. Edit: Word of warning: don’t ever pause a David Gilmour solo. It’s considered sacrilegious and fans are not very forgiving if you do.
Check out "The Blue" off of David Gilmour's Solo Album "On an Island". He does a Soul Stirring Guitar Sould and uses a Digitech Whammy Pedal. Check it out!
This is a compilation marking the 50th anniversary of "Dark Side Of The Moon - "Coming Back To Life" is from the album "A Momentary Lapse Of Reason", which was released in 1989, and this performance of it is from the "Division Bell" tour in 1994 (subsequently released, and now forever known, as P.U.L.S.E.).
Hi Maggie. This song is my favourite from Pink Floyd, this whole album 'Division Bell' is a masterpeice. And ive been into Floyd since late 70s. Another incredible guitar solo and song is 'Blue' by David Gilmour (this guitaist n singer for Pink Floyd), off his solo album. Please do yourself a favour and check it out, with or without a video'd reaction. ...enjoy✌
Best way to get an idea of pre or post Roger Waters song is the directness of the lyrics and the stronger hopefulness...both are melancholy but David's songs are less cynical...this song would not fit nearly as well on Dark Side but right in line with The Division Bell or Momentary Lapse of Reason

Pink Floyd - On The Turning Away Live At The Delicate Sound Of Thunder Tour , Amazing backing vocals and solo in it ! :) x
"Echoes" live at Pompeii. It's a long song often divided into 2 videos. Also, "Shine on You Crazy Diamond," which has 2 parts on the album "Wish You Were Here."

Some commentor once said - and it's so true. "Pink Floyd knows where they want to take you, but isn't in a hurry to get you there."
I've been on that journey for more than 50 years and still love it.
Pink Floyd, Take the trip.
David Gilmour is the Living God of guitar. The man can do more with one note than most could do with an entire fret board.
Everytime when Dave plays his guitar the whole Universe stops from moving just to listen to him in an absolute eargasm!
Beautiful reaction, Maggie!❤
Dave just makes his guitar sing. Perfect bends and tone.

She’s right about Pink Floyd’s ‘soundscape’, and this is just pristine !
Every solo David does transcends you then his voice melts you

On the turning away. Is a great song
The live version from Delicate Sound of Thunder is the GOAT. Love how the band drops out after the instrumental part in the middle.
I'm so glad I got to see this tour in 1994, but I wish had clearer memories of that night. Ironically, I was the sober one of our group.
It's simply stunning.
Bonne année pleine de santé et de bonheur 🎉
i think the best guitar solo was in "Hey You!"
Been closing my eyes to pf for 50 yrs doll
Hi, Maggie. When I closed my eyes I saw a slow movind Space Ship going home to its plant. It was magical.
There is no other guitarist that can convey so much emotion through an instrument than David Gilmore.
Knowing this teach, that is exactly the reaction - open mouthed..I expected from u..pink Floyd are the best ever progressive band
I would highly recommend Mark knopfler - local hero live at monsterrat. No singing but damn that guitarplaying is chillingly good.
Oh, what a gorgeous piece! I just recommended "Brothers In Arms" myself. I'd love to hear her do a reaction to both.

Comfortably Numb solo off of Chipotle's album is outrageous
You should listen to marooned! The only grammy they ever got😢,, he does it live at a fender anniversary concert
You would love “marooned”!
Only David could play a Strat, and bend so smoothly that the neck sounds fretless.
Try the solo in Comfortably numb. That one breaks your heart.
