Rebuilt my TT's rear calipers using your video a few days ago. Thought I was up and running again - only to have the alternator stop charging today.
Another well done video, man. Thanks again.
Just changed the alternator on my 3.2 TT, for anyone wondering about that, yes you need to put the car in service position (front end removal) which isn’t that hard and when you’ve done that it’s a bit tricky but definitely not impossible
This will be getting watched a few times as I'm about to replace my alternator for a shiny new one
Super helpful man !! I’ve been helped by many of your videos to self service my TT !!! Greetings from the USA in Los Angeles, California !! 😁
Thanks, Bryn. I just removed my alternator and swapped the regulator. I have an ATC engine, but followed your instructions and all went very smoothly. I was a bit worried about getting the belt back on, but it was pretty easy in the end. Thanks for all your videos, they are immensely helpful.
A brilliant video, I like the "talk through" format
Brilliant as always.. i subscribed because i wanted to buy a TT, things got tough so i bought an A4 instead, but I’m still here for the quality content.
Just find this video, and on the right timing since I’v just ordered a new regulator.
I’ll try without removing all the stuff.
Love the new way you overdub the video, since now you can use your two hands, and the speech is clear.
All your vid are so helpfull for my 225 bam ;)
Another fantastic instructional video -thank you!
Great video you explain things very well perfect
All of you videos are amazing for me. I drive a s3 1.8t 225. thanks for doing these videos👍
Youre welcome!
Very helpful, thanks
Great guide.
I’ve had my Bam TT alternator reconditioned with a new regulator and battery but a year later I a get a battery light that won’t turn off. Would this be a faulty reg or a dodgy Earth somewhere?
Thank you for doing this. Mine is hovering from 12.4-13.0v with the engine running. I heard it's supposed to be 14v. So, I'll need to look at this.
Also check your earth points
Useful as ever fella must admit best about. Wreck your brains does a mk4 golf alternator fit an 225 tt 👊
Dude- that was awesome. Quick question how do I tell if the Voltage Regulator has gone or the Alternator ?
How did you know it was the regulator not the alternator mine the yellow battery comes on them rpm shuts off then Speedo on code 20 it was 8.4 volts new battery
Tensioner is faulty if it’s shaking quite a bit yeah ??
Nice work on the video
Quick question, what diagnosis did you do to ascertain the regulator was the issue?
Good question. In my case, i had periods of rough idle, which was the voltage getting low, i monitored it with 20c and it was fluctuating, but the alternator itself wasnt changing sound, so i knew the pulley was ok.
I’m working on a 1.8t
I've been getting a voltage drop from 13.8 with no accessories to 12.3 with accessories on. I suspect it's the regulator, but I'm not sure. It gets real shaky too.
Yeah sounds like it could be
Question: is it possible to change the voltage regulator without removing the alternator?
Its doable but very tricky- just remove it as shown, simples
I did that on my 225, definitely did not feel tricky and was much more straight forward and faster than removing whole alternator. I have the Valeo alternator. The only thing was loosing up one clip on coolant pipe and wiggle it out of the way a bit to get more space to do that.
@@BWSTT Can't agree Bryn, otherwise great video. Like I said in previous comment, I did not find replacing the voltage regulator without removing the alternator tricky myself.
@@ados1980cz thank you! I’m use to tight spaces ;) still own a Saab 900… so to me the tt has loads of space
@@ados1980cz if you know what you’re doing, and have the tools then yes it can be done, but there’s no way to film it like that, and that was also has great potential for dropping and losing parts, so for me to recommend that to people who need to watch a video on how to do it, would be irresponsible
Alternators are infinitely rebuildable and repair parts are cheap and plenty. Think of this before getting a new chinese alternator and throwing your old Bosch one to the bin.
Maybe it is just bit at that pace useless video.
Sorry, need someone to hold your hand while you try to do it?
@BWSTT lol OK loser, restored lots of cars. But many of the parts the video suggests just don't undo or remove the way it suggests. Unreusable clamps, tons of issues, anyway doing it properly will run into. You clowns that can make living on you tube, don't show the whole video because it's not as easy as you suggest. Video was joke.
Hi whsts part number for tje 225 regulator please
