Help help help me!!!!!!! I got some of those adorable black and white vintage children napkins from Decopauge napkins, and did everything right.....but when I painted the back of the plate with white, there are huge gaps in the napkin that were not there before. I was so careful to lightly use the modpodge. Dried between steps, so careful. Any tips on how to salvage this mess????????Maybe use a darker color over the white I painted to help blend in the white and gray areas? Help me O Wise one

New subscriber from Victoria, Australia. The plate is absolutely STUNNING. Is this the plate you’ve done for your order. If so a ver lucky customer is coming your way. I really dislike crackle paint but I can tell you, on this plate I love it so much. This is the first time I’ve liked crackle paint. This was around when I was young and I really disliked i5 then too. It must be the black and copper as I’m really in liv3 with this plate, the napkin and the stencil. I’m looking forward to the rest of your videos with your reverse decoupaging on. Thanks for sharing and I’m very glad I found your channel.
Hi Pamela! Thank you and I'm happy you enjoyed this video! Yes, the black and copper is so dramatic, isn't it. I love dramatic. I actually made this plate for myself. I have a lot of copper in my kitchen, so it looks very good in there. I actually love all types of crackle finishes. It's just a matter of pairing up the correct one with your project. There are so many different types of crackle out there. I'm thrilled to see that you subscribed to my channel and I'm happy your found me too. I'm getting ready to do a 4th of July plate. Hopefully you'll enjoy that one too. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
Hi Melody! Thank you and I'm happy you enjoyed this video! I used DecoArt worn penny. My preference is always Pentart paints, but I was in a hurry and didn't have any other copper but this one. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
Hi Stephanie! Thank you and I'm happy you enjoyed this video! The copper paint is "worn penny" by Decoart. I got the stencils at Walmart. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
@@masoncreationsetc You are so welcome! You have shown me how to create everyone's Christmas presents this year. All I have to do now is find the clear plates in charity shops. You are so talented.
Hi Angela, Thanks so much💖 It's awesome to make everyone's Christmas presents. You can also find the clear plates on Amazon. They are probably a little pricer than the charity shops though.
Hi Jeri, it's going to depend on what I'm making and what type of protection the project will need. If it's something that will go outside and needs to be waterproof, I use Polyvine Extreme. If it's something that will be going in a kitchen or backroom and needs moisture protection and water resistant, I use Polyvine heavy duty wood varnish. This is also good for coasters as it's heat resistant and food safe as well. I actually use the Polyvine heavy duty wood varnish a lot. I love the finish it provides. With each coat you apply the shine becomes fuller and richer. It starts off with a satin finish and then just gets shinier with each coat. It can be used on all surfaces, not just wood. I'll leave you links for both. Thanks again for watching 😊💖 Varnish-Polyvine Heavy Duty Extreme: decoupagenapkins.com/products/polyvine-heavy-duty-extreme-varnish?sca_ref=3969749.C8aAXEduCt Varnish-Polyvine Heavy Duty Wood Varnish: decoupagenapkins.com/products/polyvine-heavy-duty-wood-varnish?sca_ref=3969749.C8aAXEduCt
Hi David, you sure can use acrylic paint. I just used the chalk paint because it's what was within reach. lol...Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
Hi there! Thank you and I'm happy you enjoyed this video. Yes, it's visible. I have it on display on an easel and people pick it up all the time and look at it, including the back. I always want all my projects to be beautiful, front and back. It just looks more professional. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
Ohhhh noooo! Did the paint seep through the napkin? I'm sorry. If you haven't sealed anything yet, you can wet it and remove it. Then just start over. I definitely would not use Mod Podge though. It takes 4 weeks to cure completely. Every time you add a coat, it will reactivate the previous coat and it'll become wet again. Give the Polyvine a try for this process. You'll get so much better results with less headaches. I'm giving you links for the Heavy duty wood varnish and the extreme. Either one will work great for a plate that may be exposed to water. The extreme is just a little more protection against water. @@masoncreationsetc I will do that now. Thank you so much for your quick reply and solution!! And thank you Decopauge napkins for not just one cute design but 4 on each one!!!!!
@@masoncreationsetc I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to reply so fast with detailed instructions. You are truly a craft queen sharing freely with all of us. Not all of us have your level of talent but you make us feel like we can do anything. I am on a fixed income and I felt like crying when I messed up 6 plates with a stupid mistake. I cannot afford to easily replace craft supplies and am obsessed with my hobbies. You saved the day for me. All is well in craft land now and I have beautiful results without spending a lot of unnecessary money.
Thank you so much for your sweet words! I'm always here to help with any problem you may have. I'm so thrilled that it worked and you were able to save your project. I absolutely hate it when I have to scrap a project because I made a mistake. You are not alone in that boat my friend. I can't tell you how many projects end up in the trash. I'm always trying new things so we can all have some fun during my videos, buuttt not all of them turn out 🤣 You guys don't ever see the ones I trash, but they're out there! AND, you CAN do anything!!! Just keep crafting and going outside the box! It's scary but fun out there! 😱😍🤗😘
Hi Donna, thank you, but the price to make this project would be under 5.00. The plate was 1.25 at Dollar Tree, the napkin was 85 cents at Decoupagenapkins.com and there are still 3 more images on the napkin that can still be used. All the products I used such as the paint, repositionable spray, texture paste, crackle medium, multi surface lacquer and Polyvine extreme varnish can be used for many other projects, not just the one. I've had some of these products that I use over and over again, for more than a year. I would say at least 50 uses or more each. That comes out to less than a dollar for all of them, for just this project. You can find stencils at the dollar store or walmart for just a dollar or 2. I used top quality products for a reason. If you don't prime your glass, anything you put on it could chip or peel, which is why I use the multi surface lacquer. If you want your plate to be waterproof and also food safe, Polyvine extreme is what you need. You don't have to use texture paste for the 3D effect, you can use something else cheaper, but the texture paste gives great results. You can use other varnishes if you choose, these are the products that I prefer, so that's what I show. I'm teaching techniques, you can get thrifty and creative and still reproduce this project. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching 😊💖
