Xbox's Matt Booty has spoken more on the closure of Tango Gameworks earlier this year, and, while he did not name names, it appears that a change in leadership at the Hi-Fi Rush studio was a factor in Microsoft's decision.
In conversation with Variety's Strictly Business podcast, the Xbox executive was asked about the closure of Tango Gameworks, and whether Microsoft had tried to seek another buyer for the studio. "I won't get into the real sort of nitty gritty details on you know, what went into the decision, mostly out of respect for the people there, just because you know, there was a lot of work that went into delivering Hi-Fi Rush, which was a great game and you know did well for us," Booty began.
"I think the thing to be considered is that for us, it's as much a forward looking situation as much as it is looking back at one certain game... There are a lot of things that go into success for a game. You know, what leadership do you have? What creative leadership do you have? Is the team the same team that shipped something successful previously?
"And we have to look at all of those things together and then ask ourselves, are we set up for success going forward? And while there may have been factors and situations that previously led to success, they may not all still be in place as you look at what you're doing going forward."
Booty seemed to be referring - at least in part - to the departure of Tango Gameworks founder Shinji Mikami last year. Mikami established Tango Gameworks in 2010, with the studio going on to develop The Evil Within series and Ghostwire: Tokyo. Prior to this, he worked at Capcom on the Resident Evil series. - Ігри

I havent forgotten about Japan studio shut down after the amazing gravity rush and last guardian.
yeah.. PS1 & PS2 had hundreds of great & fun games like that and Sony squander most of them.. anyways when i sold my PS4 Pro I've kept games like Gravity Rush 1&2, Bloodborne GOTY, Last Guardian, Shadow of Colossus etc. but i would luv to see some remakes like Dark Cloud 1&2, Legend of Dragoon, Vagrant Story, Jade Coccoon etc. all these amazing games just withering away and no i don't support making all these Remasters within 5 years but around 10 or 15 years a Remake oh hell yeah sign me up!

If you look at past studio acquisitions, MSFT has a big problem. Studio heads make a lot of money from these deals. Then, a short time later, they leave.
I didn't think of this at first, but Matt Booby's comment have me suspicious that the Tango closure was, at least in part, a message. "You take the money and run. We close the studio." Essentially they're threatening to kill the baby after the break up.
Yeah I think it’s a problem that every game has to be 760 hours and takes ten years to develop.
Definitely need room for games that can be done in a reasonable amount of time and are fun.

Great video. Shinji is a legend. Creator of Resident Evil and then Single-handedly re-birthed Survival Horror in 2013 when it was abandoned by Capcom(RE5,6) for action.
It's such a lame, corporate excuse. Regardless of Mikami leaving, the studio was not working on a project. Xbox immediately saw this as an opening to cut costs instead of celebrating with them.

Tango also made Ghostwire Tokyo, and that is also one of my favorite games this gen. It didn't get the best reviews, but I don't care, I thought the game was great and I was hoping to see a sequel. Now the studio was shut down and it will probably never get a sequel. Thanks Microsoft!

Sony was horrible in how they handled Team ICO, Japan studio in general and Zipper Interactive, their talented British studios.

@oliverwilliam6931 that's an old report taken after a few days, how many people have beaten horizon, gow, etc. When that report came out I haven't beaten it yet since than I have beat it twice.
