I saw them about a month after this show. One of my top five shows ever (for reference, I have been to over 200 concerts). This was the only time out of the five times I have seen TOOL that Maynard took center stage. He changed outfits three times and really worked the crowd. Amazing show. The new tour is stunningly beautiful, I highly suggest going to see it if possible. Welcome to the Army!
Saw them on this tour! I'll never forget that bra. He also had a ladies wig and heels on when I saw them this tour. For an excellent early live show, check out the remastered JC Dobbs show on South Street
My ears rang for 2 days after this concert...same tour, but in OKC about a month before, i believe. Unreal. Was a smaller venue, the TNT building. Sat/stood pretty close to the wall of speakers they had set up there...
You MUST see them. I've been to a million shows throughout my life. Nothing compares to a Tool show. I once saw Rage Against the Machine, Soundgarden, The Screaming Trees, and The Ramones, in one day at a festival. It still wasn't as epic as a Tool show. Great reaction. GO SEE TOOL!!! They're not getting any younger. Lol
Of the many many many concerts and lots of metal shows, T00L puts on the best live performances you’ll ever see. The tickets are steep but 1000% worth it for the experience of a lifetime.
It's at festival. You're much better off seeing them for the first time when they're on their own tour. Production value is so much better and they play more songs. Also, you'll have to deal with a festival crowd, which can take away from the experience. If you go to an actual tool concert, everyone is there to see them and the vibe is incredible. The whole area singing along.
I think more people who react to artists should choose to react to live performances where possible. Nudge nudge there are tons professionally recorded Perfect Circle and Puscifer live videos on UA-cam, I highly recommend these over the studio versions, MJK is killer live.
I have seen tool 6 or 7 times some sober some not so sober… every show was amazing but the last one in January of 2022 was a life changing event… when you go sit center stage balcony.
I brought my son and it was his first concert ever…to quote him” daddy what happened in there…are all concerts like this!?!?” Only bad thing is now every concert will be a let down
Polo, a few things... after watching (and so thoroughly enjoying) your journey into and experience from your first listen until today, yes, you must absolutely see them live. It's not a concert, or live show, it's an experience. So, please do it and make a video about it, share it with all of us. This is easily one of my top 3 favorite Tool tracks, particularly the Salival version, of which your video on it was amazeballs. I never knew a live video of that interpretation even existed and I want to see it. The only thing separates this recording from the Salival version was the bongos, which I believe was performed on the Salival album by a world renowned bongo player guest starring. I could be wrong on that fact...nevertheless, no one sings or performs their music like these guys do. You must see them live. It's/they are juat another level.
I saw tool at Nassau coliseum on long island Halloween 2002. They had a contest on the radio and the person who won got to paint Maynard! He came out in black paint from head to toe covered in orange florescent dots. It was the best show to date for me
Lol I love the comment about how young Danny looked. In 1998 he was 37. I was 17 at the time and remember considering Danny old in comparison to most other current rock musicians at the time.

It's really something else. Not to be missed.
😆 "Maynard looks like a zombie that wormed it's way through a woman's closet." 🤣So poetically accurate somehow, and so beautifully deadpanned, my good sir. 😂 I give all due humor kudos. That really hit my funny-bone. And yeah, you Gotta catch them live. Maynard's more of a shadow creeper these days, but good god still rocks the house hard. All he's lost with age has been the ability to do The Scream. 'Cause The Scream broke his ability to do The Scream. ...Unsurprisingly. I'm always blown away by the postures he can sing through, and how taken over he is by the character that *is* the song - like he personifies The Song through his theatrical performance. A lot of singers will take on the character speaking the lyrics, but it's like he's the embodiment of that character's tortured and confused emotional processes, or subconscious, or id/ego/superego, getting pulled along some journey or experience that's musically narrated by Adam/Justin/Danny. His voice and his body are so tense, vulnerable, hurt and confused for so much of this piece - even more so in the more recent live version. (I hadn't listened to Pushit for a while before listening to that recent one, and actually had a moment where I thought he might have lost his live-game with how strained he sounded , and then he tore into the "PUSHIN' - AND I'M - SHOVIN"s and just hammered the choice home. Gorgeous.)
Live shows mesmerizing. I wanted to close my eyes and just hear it, but then, didn't want to miss the visual spectacle. Just wonderful, if you get a chance to see them live. Peace☮️💜
Noooooo.... please listen to the Salival version of the song !!! It is the best version out there ! But still glad you've reacted to one of my favourite Tool songs ! Keep it metal my man ! 🤘
I'm glad I had the opportunity to see them several times back in the day. No way I could drop the pile of cash it takes to see them these days. Same goes for many other big name bands on tour. I don't blame them for making money, I just can't dish it out anymore.
Back during this era of Tool's live shows, they would often open up the set with the song "Hooker with a Penis" (the song is actually a pretty amusing reaction to a fan confronting Maynard)... Anyhow, Maynard would come out at the start of the show all dressed in drag to get his point across. lol
The Columbus show is a four day festival with TOOL headlining Thursday night. It will be impossible to avoid other bands but at $149 for a ticket it would still be worth it. You might hear something else you like too.
First time I saw them live in 92-93, he was wearing a bra and panties, thigh high stockings, and was painted half black, and half white. Maynard is very theatrical. All the shows since, he's been just as theatrical in his costumes, including Puscifer as well.
I’ve been wanting this version of the song for a while. Thanks for doing 2 different versions of it. I can’t get enough. Try H. or Third Eye. Both from this same album. As usual you won’t be disappointed. Don’t remember if you’ve done Jambi or not but that one and Right in Two are both great.
@POLO REACTS, if you see Tool live you will be blown away and I definitely recommend it ...BUT... I would kinda feel bad if their your first concert, because it might ruin every other concert you go to from other bands afterwards.. If you do see a Tool show, and you should, definitely sit in the center as they do some panoramic audio that you won't fully experience if you sit on the side.
Check out the entire concert of theirs from JC Dobbs performance here on UA-cam. It's incredible and the audio quality is great. A good up close and personal performance of theirs.
I absolutely love the studio album version. It is so on point. The Salival variation is also fantastic.. But for me, the best ever performance of this song is when the fan got on stage, and Maynard hip-tossed him, sat on top of him and absolutely BELTED the rest of the song. It was fucking incredible. ua-cam.com/video/SyYV58OTQ-0/v-deo.html this is the best version of that performance in my opinion, it blends together multiple personal cameras well, especially for the time period.
TOOL is amazing live, as I'm sure you've been told. I have unfortunately had 2 bad experiences at TOOL shows, but 2 out of 6 really isn't bad. One show Maynard was sick and was only able to perform about 30 minutes of the show. The rest of the band tried to continue without him and played 2 more songs after Maynard left the stage, but ultimately the show was cut short. Another show I bought some last minute scalped tickets and the seats were horrible! We were actually behind the stage off to the side and we couldn't see anything. I'm pretty sure all I could see was Adam's left leg, and thanks to where we were the sound was terribly muffled. This was no fault of the band of course I was just mad this venue had these seats available. Anyway, it is possible to be let down at a TOOL concert, but just make sure you don't buy the cheap seats and hope that everyone in the band is healthy. Other than that their shows are phenomenal and I can't wait to catch them live again.
Read that for world wide touring artists in 2021 or 22 (?) - they were in the top 10 for revenue. What this means is (1) when they tour - they sell out arenas all over our orb & (2) tix ain't cheap! Saw them 5x, recently: 2017 (Vancouver), 2020 (Vegas) & 2022 (Dublin). GO SEE THEM LIVE :)))
First time I've watched this but it looks like he takes that hunched posture when he's embodying aspect of himself he once hated, couldn't embrace, and pushed into the sub-conscious. The upright posture is embodying this adult version of him seeking growth by embracing these hurt child aspects.
They will likely play more shows this year. So far they have two festival dates set. That was the old days. They have an entirely different looks these days. Lots of visual effects but they still sound amazing.
Hey POLO REACTS! Please don't expect as much "movement" from Maynard (he hangs out in the drum riser in the shadows across from Danny), Adam Jones is almost stock still except for key moments in songs where he'll walk towards Danny or slightly towards Justin. Danny does Danny but even he kind of "trances up" at certain points where he's looking slightly up and stays still but his arms are flying. Justin lately seems to constantly body rock to a pulse. These guys are still spot on but they are in their mid fifties and higher.
Good video, good reaction as always 👊 I prefer the studio version of push it over the salival version. The passion and emotion combined with the lyrics and music is more powerful. Either way, the last couple verses still give me chills. I’d say this is their darkest and most disturbing song.
If you have noticed Maynard normally is off to the side with all his bands. He doesn't like the center's attention, but during this short period he came to the front with a painted body and often women's clothing. He is one of the greatest front men, and yet is shy or self conscious to the point of making his appearance oddly off.

Day 3 asking for Tool, "Bottom". 😁
He needs to get into Undertow and not just Sober.
Good video,
good reaction as always 👊
I prefer the studio version of push it over the salival version. The passion and emotion combined with the lyrics and music is more powerful.
Either way, the last couple verses still give me chills. I’d say this is their darkest and most disturbing song.
Man the pipes on maynard.
Not sure if this was the same show, but I saw them on this tour. Was the best 30$ spent.
If you can go... Go!
If we're doing live performances, I suggest "Bottom" from New years eve 1995.
Amazing
My favorite version of this song is Maynard and fan!!! Maynard grapple a fan to the ground and keeps him there for the whole song
Do it! Go to the concert!
where was this show? I saw them at Ozzfest that summer in NJ and they definitly played this and Maynard was dressed like this
seeing them live is a whole nother experience compared to watching them live on a video
If you have noticed Maynard normally is off to the side with all his bands. He doesn't like the center's attention, but during this short period he came to the front with a painted body and often women's clothing. He is one of the greatest front men, and yet is shy or self conscious to the point of making his appearance oddly off.
If you want some real T00L live
checkout their early nineties show in phillie, where Maynard murdered a poor drinker with his eyes. Dope af
'Maynard looks like a zombie that works his was through a womans closet' word
you can hear the Zepplin influence
